Poor Dean and Sam - Dean for meeting and almost being killed by his own daughter, and for Sam for having to kill his own niece. I love that he rushed for Dean and doesn't want his brother to die. I swear he was crying at the end.
I still believe in Ghost!Bobby - WILL NEVER GIVE UP HOPE.
BOBBY! but they said they burned his bones so if thats true then there cant be a ghost of him.... the only being i know that could've saved him from that possibly if he did become a ghost is death. i mean bobby did help him out in a way once or twice idk i dont think we will see the last of death. if he did go to heaven tho then idk. good episode otherwise.
Don't wanna say I told you so to the person who thought it was going to be keep in secret and create a huge fight with the boys split up or wahtever exactly like with Amy....but... :P
Anyway, not an awesome one, but better than I expected :)
I'm excited to see some Sam's POV with the clown next week, it will be fun xD
Loved this episode, it really felt like the brothers and old time Supernatural. Dean had me giggling when remembering his 'workout' girl. And Sam teasing him was just great. I'm not going to try and recap the entire episode but I do have to say the 'EWWW' factor was back, as was the classic rock. Man I have missed that!
One thing that did bug me is the dependency on someone else to figure stuff out. In previous seasons Sam (and Dean) would figure it out. I mean, hell, Sam was 'Geek boy'. Now suddenly it is like they have both gone stupid or forgotten how to think. I don't get it.....
Still all in all it was a GREAT episode. 9.5 out of 10 for me. Oh and that ending... Man.... do they have to rip our heart out every time????
not like they never met a ghost that was burn, it happened a LOT of time in the first seasons, in 2 seconds I can think of Molly (in Roadkill) or the Hook Man or the kid's ghost (Afterschool special). Ghosts can get attach to something else. Bobby can still be a spirit, maybe attached to his flask
Good for Sam. Vindication for Amy going down. Looks like he's fed up with Dean's crap and pulling the wagon. Like the way they are teasing the GhostBobby. And we finally found out that they DID burn Bobby. A lot of stuff in a one hour show tonight.
This was my thought, that Bobby was either attached to hsi flask, or to all of his stuff. He was really attached to his books and what not, so it makes sense. Plus, I mean, some of his dna could easily be on them. S kin flakes, or whatever really. GhostBobby FTW
My God what an awful episode! This one sure was made for the sake of a Dean's sex scene. Horrible plot. Poor Sara Canning. She was only there for the sex. Oooh and some Dean girls must be fangirling around "OMG OMG Dean dropped his pants" Meh.
Yeah, Dean did point out the flask. Ghosts can get attached to objects, not to mention people. He said he couldn't leave the boys. If he's a ghost he might even be attached to them.
Exactly. How many times in earlier seasons have we seen Sam hunched over the laptop and Dean joking about him knowing so much stuff. Now they can't seem to figure anything out.
Ok, now THAT'S what I'm talking about!! A real, thought provoking, heart tugging classic Supernatural episode. Man, I'd been missing that! I have to get it out of the way off the top...DAYUM Jensen was smoking in this one, and not just the love scene, though that was the icing on the cake. But aside from that...I really loved the whole story here. There were some classic Dean moments, even a classic rock song during the love scene! And we finally got some focus on Bobby and how the guys are dealing with his death. The paper moving...that was cool. I found it interesting that Sam was so adamant about not believing it was him. Given their line of work you'd think he'd at least be open to the possibility but I guess he just can't let himself hope...been hurt too much. They did keep up the focus on Dean drinking and the nagging point about the guys not being able to figure out their cases on their own...what is up with that? But it's a small complaint in an otherwise solid episode. As for the whole killer kid angle...didn't exactly shake out entirely as I expected but I thought it was an intriguing way to go with it, not the obvious...the way they've always handled things on this show, coming from left field. When the kid turned on the waterworks I half believed her...thought maybe she had just enough Dean in her for her emotions to be genuine, but guess not. It didn't really surprise me that Dean couldn't bring himself to shoot. We know by now kids are his weakness. I didn't expect Sam to be the pissed one in the end but I liked that twist. And I absolutely LOVED the final five minutes "emo talk"...that's what we'd been missing. Have to say, Sam saying "You could've been killed...just don't get killed" was the line of the season for me. Sigh...poor Sammy! Now if only it would sink in with Dean. But I think it's starting...at least now we know the guys are still in there somewhere. Man, that was worth the wait...however short. I knew there was a reason I loved this show!
Not Deanfans are 10 FYI, the boys were working together on a 'hunt of week' format, they didn't slip to do 2 differents jobs, we had some bro moments with Sam making fun of Dean, Dean getting back to try have fun a little despite everything.
To me it look like you're the one who only saw the 30 secondes sex scene in the episode and miss the rest
I loved the ep, lot of action and humor and I liked the way no one can replace Bobby. Was that him in the room moving the paper they needed. Even liked Sam getting to kill Emma because Dean could not do it...pay back for Amy?? To me the eps just keep getting better..
A ghost can be around despite his body having been burned. We saw John escapting from Hell at the end of Season 2 after the boys had burned his body. It happens. That was definitely pointing toward Bobby, whether Sam wants to believe it or not. His being attached to the flask is a good point.
I don't get that either. Don't understand why the writers can't have them working stuff out on their own. I did like that they went back to mementoing later on though...that was cool.
Um ok...there was SO much more to that episode than the love scene...that was really incidental, frankly. This episode was giving us a LOT of emotional/plot development between the brothers that we'd been missing...that's what I really loved most about it. Sorry you didn't see that.
To be honest, I was apprehensive about this ep simply because I didn't know how they could do what they had advertised doing and keep Dean in character at the same time. But I believe they pulled it off. Dean was being Dean, picked up a willing 'work-out partner' in a bar far before they even knew what they were hunting. As soon as they put the pieces together, even tho he realized it was his daughter, he was still a hunter. He didn't buy her act (although she had me fooled!) and, despite Sam's comment, I don't believe he would've let her go. He knew what she was, I didn't see any feeling of doubt when he was holding a gun on her. I'm glad Sam had to actually pull the trigger, because despite everything, killing your own child -- even if it was simply a DNA donation to a monster -- would be impossible for anyone.
I love the mystery about Bobby. The boys want him to still be around, but Sam doesn't want to believe it while Dean needs to. It's a fine balance since they both feel it may be true. I loved Sam's snarky responses to Dean's behavior, but thought his anger at the end was a bit forced. Dean denied he was going to let her go despite what he said to her at the time, maybe Sam should take some of his own advice and start believing in Dean a little more, too.
The Amazons were sufficiently creepy and bitchy -- just like a race of genetically gifted, maternal based women would be. That they could be killed with a gunshot didn't bother me, they were basically human, just enhanced by a Greek goddess, so they should be able to be killed like a human. Emma was chilling. Like I said, she kind of fooled me. I kept thinking, "she's part Winchester' but in the end proved that a monster is a monster. I didn like the playfulness between Lydia and Dean in the bar. He needs something to life his spirits. Too bad it wasn't what he wanted it to be. But he did get Bobby's flask back, and his relentless efforts to find it were actually sweet.
All in all, I thought this was better than expected. Not a classic episode, but certainly not a terrible one. It gave us some nice brother moments and really let us in on how they are both coping with the loss of Bobby. Now, bring on the clowns. :)
Well, sometimes you can't figure things out if you have no basis for it. Bobby was a walking book of knowledge. He would've had a starting place to figure out the symbol. Sam and Dean didn't. You can't research what you've got no clue about. It's not like there's a database for 'weird symbols' they can just google. So I'm okay with them turning to the professor. It also showcased how much Bobby is missed in their everyday lives.
Awesome episode. Loved it from start to finish. Like Sam teasing Dean it made you think of season1 the way they were. So sad to see Dean when he was talking to Emma. I guess Bobby chose to say with the guy's. Next weeks looks great can't wait. Great job to everyone another great episode.
Agreed except for one tiny detail...I'm not so sure Sam was wrong about Dean not shooting. We know his weakness for kids and this was HIS kid. I'm not so sure he would've shot. If he was just going to shoot, he'd have done it right away, not hung around waiting until Sam had to step in.
I don't blame him for hesitating under the circumstances but Sam was right...he could've been killed. Shows just how much Dean's head is not in it...the Dean of old would not have hesitated.
I like the thought of Bobby being attached to his flask. Sam did make a big deal about Dean having kept it. Bobby's DNA would be all over it since he used it for years. And as long as Dean keeps it with him, bobby is with them. :) Kind of sweet.
Like i said on the other post, remember what we saw, what we zoomed big time right before the beer moment in the 7x11? That's right; the flask :P I think we have every reason to believe Bobby's still there
In Seasons 1, 2 and 3, Sam figured it out all the time. He used the Journal, the laptop and his brain. They rarely called Bobby for help. And when Sam couldn't figure it out Dean could. Even if it meant going to a library.
Didn't they kind of do just that for the Blue Oyster Cult symbol back in "Hell House"? And when they couldn't find anything on the symbol on their own through Internet searches, Dean just eventually remembered where he had seen it?
Exactly...they've both been doing this for almost 30 years now, they've got to have a pretty big knowledge base by this time. I just think the writers are making a little too big a deal out them getting help from other quarters.
I'm so tired of the brothers fighting. I just can't stand it. I wish there was some hope in the show, but all this angst is suffocating. I'm glad the brothers were getting along at the start, but reopen the Amy can of worms. I think it's pretty clear the writers DO NOT read anything on the internet, because I don't know a single person who thought that was a good storyline or something interesting. We had enough of in after episode three and four, why did we need to find a way to bring it up again? For me, Amy is the Lisa/soap opera of this season.
And why do the guys need so much help with the research? Did they hit their heads too many times? (Maybe Sam has. It's like a recurring theme.) But at least the professor was fun, but underused in ways. I don't know why, but this episode felt a little choppy. But a lot of the episodes this season feel choppy, maybe it's because they're trying to do so much? I don't know, but they don't flow as well as they used to. I think it's too much in the episode and not just focusing on building up the story and then the episode kind of just ends and then quickly comes back to say something to Dean about what just happened. Seeing Aunt Jenna was nice, but she wasn't really a character. I didn't think she and Dean had much chemistry, but that could have been from the lack of development. That's the problem I've having with the show. They don't focus enough on the emotional story. Like back in the fourth season, you had Jamie who was a strong character and then the monster, "Dracula," who was a real monster you had a tiny bit of sympathy for, but knew he had to die. He had a tragic story, but emotional one as well. You didn't know anything about Emma. They were too busy dragging out finding out the facts that they forgot to show something about her we could connect to. They didn't make her into a character really. Less investigation and research with repeats. (I hate saying this, but they're not using their time wisely!) Sometimes, I feel like the writers just want to get from point A to point B as quickly and bloody as possible. Like they're too busy seeing the bigger picture, they forget that they're telling a story. An emotional story. It's too much plot and too much angst for Dean. I'm worn with Dean. Give him some life! Okay, things I did like. I like the doctor guy and the professor. I thought the brotherly banter was good in some parts, but some stuff was little iffy like trying too hard to drag out Dean and Sam not knowing about Dean's kid. And I liked hearing about Bobby. And I like that Sam and Dean were on the same page that the girl needed to die. But why did they need to fight about it or why they had to bring Amy up again? (Like we have forgotten that? Fans complain about everything, because we remember practically everything. They don't need to worry about us forgetting.) The brothers looked good.
Overall, I didn't love it or hate it. I think I need sometime before I rate it. Maybe reading some other opinions will help. I'm just not sure.
Actually I thought they handled the Amy reference well. You knew there was going to be a paralell there and from Sam's POV, I think it was necessary...he deserved that. But they didn't belabor or it have it blow up into yet another dragged out fight between the guys, so ultimately I was ok with it.
As for developing the character of Lydia (the mother), I think that was the whole point of the Amazons...there wasn't supposed to be an emotional connection. For them men were literally just sperm donors. And for Dean, she was a one night stand...again, there wouldn't really have been an emotional connection. At least not for the old Dean.
And I think with Emma (the daughter) they developed it perfectly. Couldn't get any more emo because of the fact that she was basically a creature. I think there was just enough there to get the point across taht Dean couldn't immediately bring himself to shoot her. I thought it was well handled, but that's just me.
Not like they fought all episode long or that they really were fighting at all. Dean looked sad at the end, but he didn't bash it on his brother for killing her, looked like he understood. Sure Sam was a big angry, but it didn't look like it will carry on. I'm betting they'll just move on from there and not fight over that
Maybe, but he was still holding a gun on her and he didn't fall for her act at all, so the way I saw it, he was testing her. He had no delusions she would take him up on the offer to leave, but he needed to be absolutely sure before shooting what was technically his own daughter. I'm still glad Sam did it, but I believed Dean when he said he wasn't going to let her go. Even without his head in the game, he's still a good hunter.
Yes, but the moment Dean saw it the BOC logo spray painted on the wall he said it was familiar. So he did have a basis for recognizing it, he just needed to remember it. There wasn't any 'research' involved, Dean finally remembered seeing it on an album cover. I don't think he has the basis for little known Amazon/Greek symbols. :)
They actually figured everything out except for the symbol. And neither of them speak Greek, so having a previous connection with the professor was important so Sam could barge in on him and get him to help right away. It would've been stranger, in my opinion, if they had figured it all out without help. They know a lot about monsters, but they've never come upon Amazons or this little known Greek symbol before. It made sense for them to go to a professor for help, just like Dean did all the way back in Scarecrow.
I agree He hesitated cuz she hadn't killed anyone yet and Emma was his daughter but If Sam hadn't stepped in I believe Dean would've taken the shot But I'm Glad that it was Sam who did it.
Pretty good episode overall! I thought the parallel editing with Dean/Lydia and the guy's murder was pretty cool, especially with the AC/DC over it all :) It's kind of eerie how much teenage Emma looked like her mom.. they did a good job of casting that one.. it's too bad she was evil - I kind of believed her at first, but I should have known better - when do things ever work out well for these poor boys? I enjoyed the deviation from traditional featured creatures - Amazons were a fun new thing to encounter, though I'm anxious for them to get back to the Leviathans. And I'm glad Dean didn't have to kill his own daughter, evil as she may have been. He looked so upset after Sam shot her!
I liked Sam's line at the end, too. Just don't get killed. :) Sam knows Dean is at the end of his rope, Sam is right there, too and he couldn't survive losing Dean. I also loved Dean's response. I'll do what I can. He's not making any promises anymore. Dean's really struggling to keep his head above water. I'm afraid that once Sam's mental problems come to a head and Castiel returns, the poor guy is gonna go off the deep end. Of course, I'm going to love watching it. I think I need therapy. :)
Honestly, if it hadn't been for the fact that the episode slightly centered around the fact that Dean got one of the Amazons pregnant, I would have forgotten that scene completely. There was so much more going on, not necessarily with plot development, but with character development. We got to see the brothers interact on a level we've been missing - I felt like for the first time in a long time, we got to see them be brothers again, joking around and almost being themselves. It also got into a lot of emotional stuff, with Sam addressing Dean's aloofness and near hypocrisy, since he wanted to let his daughter go when he didn't give Amy the same chance. I think that there were a lot of great things at work in this episode, all of which eclipsed Dean taking his shirt off for 10 seconds.
I'm not so sure about the Amy reference being handle well in my opinion. Because they didn't show Sam's point of view in "The Mentalist." Sam just did a complete 180 and then it was done with. We have had so little of Sam's point of view lately that now, Sam saying something about it in someway just seemed mean and hypocritical. Once again, Sam's lack of point of view causes a problem when something comes out. It makes Sam looks insensitive in someways. They didn't do the character of Sam justice then and now in my opinion. I'm not okay with the brothers fighting because we don't have enough scenes of the brothers actually showing that they want to be together and things are not like the first few seasons. I don't feel like I'm having enough of Sam's point of view to know what's going on or understanding why he is being so hostile. And there were points in this episode in which Sam seemed really hostile. Part of my problem is that if they're not going to show Sam's point of view, then they need to try to make sure Sam actions stay in the clear without needing it.
I understand what you're saying about Lydia. I guess I was just expecting for there to be something more memorable about her character. But I just found the scene to be cheap, but I guess that's the way it was suppose to be. I was hoping for something more for her character. As for the daughter, I'm torn. I would have liked there to have been something more about her, but if there had then Sam would be a villain. But I didn't get the impression Dean couldn't shoot her. I kind of figured Dean was waiting for the right moment. Just a difference in opinions.
I know. But the fact that they have played Sam's story so much in the background with no build up that Sam's anger in this episode kind of feels like it's coming from nowhere. Last episode, he's quiet and worried. This episode he's driving crazy-fast, he's over-focused, he angry about any mention of Bobby (which he was perfectly fine with last episode), and then he is yelling at Dean and driving crazy. This was what I was worried about Sam's story being downplay and in the background, because now, that it's coming back it is all over the place. I know that they'll probably just move on. But I feel like Sam lost some sympathy in this episode, because he's point of view was not shown for a long time. We really don't know what is going on with him. And now, Sam doesn't look like he is being sensitive to Dean's problems. Dean's problems have been so front and center that Sam not being sensitive about it or completely supporting is a bit upsetting to me. I don't like Sam being hostile, because he hasn't been really hostile for no reason at all this season. He was a bit hostile after Amy, but you knew where that came from. This? Why did they need to fuss at each other? They have been having mature conversations. So, why yell now? We had no clues about Sam's mental state in this episode, so it doesn't connect to where we left off or what has been happening. I guess we could say it's the stress of Bobby's death and the monsters getting away?
I thought this was a good filler episode. Introduced a new supernatural being. Atleast they didn't drag out the Dean not wondering if Bobby was a Ghost. Even if they burned his bones, Bobby is probably attached to something (The Brothers or maybe the Flask)
I'm also thinking that episode Meg is in could also possibly have Bobby in it.
That's why I keep wondering if Bobby will hang around like Sam? from Ghost and eventually help the Boys take out Dick and pass through into the light in episode 23.
I loved it. And I truly believe Dean would've pulled the trigger if Sam hadn't done it - it just would've taken longer. Best line: "You're just as screwed up as I am - just bigger." I would've liked them to be just a little more in sync in the last few seconds but at least they weren't at each other's throats.
I really thought, for a MOTW ep, that this one really progressed the story on other fronts too. I thought the writing was strong, the directing was good, and all the other production values were, as always, wonderful (Serge is a master...the lighting is always so gorgeous). I found myself enjoying, even with the sad and depressing nature of most of the episode, every moment! And not because the moments were "funny", or "sexy" (though there were some of both), but because it really felt like a hard-core, back to form, Supernatural episode. I see in my future, many rewatches of this one.
It"s very dean keeping the flask and all, he keeps a few items that all have special meaning for him. His jacket, his amulet(I'm convinced one of them went back for it), his car, heck even his music and his love for pie have a grounding in his family. I still want to know the story of his ring and bracelet.
I hope he doesn't have to burn the flask, I really do.
I,m with you that we need more inside on Sam and I'm still wondering with the Bobby thing, but I can understand why he was a bit upset at the end. He did heard Dean told Emma that she could walk away. It was a bit 'hypocrite' since he clearly said we need to kill all monsters no matter what and that's how he explain why killing Amy was right. Sure the circonstances were different and she was his daughter, but that I'm sure Sam will wrap his head around it and that's why it will be left behind next week and for the rest. I know I would be upset too but a couple of hours, a day maybe before taking couple of minutes to think about it and put everything in order
For the Bobby, I don't know like i said earlier in my post, but maybe it was just Sam not wanting to have false hope that you can't prove. If you have false hope and later find out they were false, it hurt. Maybe he was just scared to get hurt again. Or my friend's theory is that he's just trying to deal with it on his own. I know my friend's a bit like that, if she's sad (like she lost her boyfriend or whatever), she doesn't talk about it, or at all, and if you try to engage the subject she'll just get angry for no reason. According to her, maybe Sam's just trying to deal and/or stress like you said. Maybe it's part of me, my friend and your theory, all 3 are possible, but yes.... maybe it's something completely different^^;
At least look like we're going back to Sam with the clown next week and with mark coming back the week after. So yes there's hope, don't give up now, especially when the 13-episodes arcs are over :)
It was very good not awesome but good, really good acting. Dean shirtless, and finally showing us some real pain about Bobby's death, my only complain might be that Sam doesn't seem to be a normal human being, I miss to see him cry over something else than being called freak, didn't he love Bobby?? why can't they make him at least drop a tear for Bobby??, it seems like only Dean has feelings.
I loved this ep. Really well written and constructed. Loads of great scenes. Some people seem angry with how Sam was at the end, but don't they see that he was REALLY scared of losing Dean?
Mostly agree with everyone that it was a great episode, it could have been an awesome one, but I gad two small problems with it.
Emma could have been more mind screwy, It was kind of obvious she would not be making out alive from this ep. Her dialogue with Dean could have packed so much more emotional punch, it just felt too much on the light side.
And the Dean Sam scene at the end, it could have used more dept. It felt like they just didn't went to a lot of places.
Overall good with great moments and development for the character's, but this was one of those episodes that could have been amazeballs. It felt more like a miss than a hit, and potential, it had.
I agree. I think he was mostly upset about Dean coming so close to being killed. I do think Dean would have pulled the trigger eventually, but I can see why Sam was concerned.
It reminds me of the time my sister and I got into a minor car accident when we were teenagers. We were both OK, but she wasn't wearing her seat and could have been seriously injured if the crash had been worse. I yelled at her afterward, but I wasn't angry so much as scared.
You know, it occurred to me that this is maybe the first ep that we've seen Sam driving while Dean is in the car...throughout. Huh.
I liked the scene between Dean and his daughter. He was cautious. Smart but there was this sense of hope and awe in his face as he talked to her.
and I think some of us are confirmed. Bobby's ghost is hanging around taking care of the boys. Loved that scene too. Also, loved Sam's logic. Discount the leap of faith because we want it so bad it's got to be us makign it up.
This isn't the first time, but I have a problem calling these women monsters. Loved that these women were smart enough to clear out when they didn't hear back from those two.
I really liked this ep as a study in where Dean's head is at. Felt like we finally got the movement on the Dean story that was being talked about before the season started.
Man, I hope not. It would be nice for Sam to have some focus for a while without it being overshadowed by Dean's angst. I'm not sure I can take BOTH brothers going off the deep end at the same time.
I hate the fact that Dean had to sleep with someone in this episode. With Lisa, it was okay. But something about the sleeping with the amazon thing ticks me off. But that's just me being possessive of Dean Winchester and Jensen Ackles. (I still think the whole show should end without the boys hooking up with anybody, like they'll only have each other. Sad, but that's how I like it.) It was a good episode. I love Sam's line "Don't get killed." It was nice to see the Dean going alcoholic arc again. (But I wish there were more Sam-Lucy scenes.) And I like how the whole killing the daughter turned out. I love the irony of this episode: Sam killing someone Dean hesitated to kill, just like what happened with Amy (hope I got her name right) a few episodes back. Though the whole Amazon thing didn't get resolved, I guess it was okay. AND I WONDER WHAT THAT GHOST LIKE THING IS ABOUT. Though I feel it's Bobby, I can't help but think it might be Cas.
That has been the problem with Sams storytelling alot no build up or knowing why? or where his head is at. We can guess but that is a issue in its self we shouldnt need to keep guessing . This episode was alright in its self but the Dean angst is getting a bit grating. Can we and he be allowed to move on so he doesnt end up disappearing underneath it all.
Loved it! Pure SPN. And the heartbreaking look on Sam's face at the end when he asked Dean, just don't get killed...then Dean's reaction, shows how lost they both really are.
This is one of the many things I love about SPN, every thing means something and you have to pay attention to the little things. Hell YES, Ghost/Spirit Bobby
I am very mixed on this, Sam is a good hunter, but he let Amy go. I want to believe Dean would have taken the shot, but he does feel for kids and Emma was his. This is another of the SPN mysteries that we can wonder about.
Dang I do love this show and all the little things we have to watch for. Not a show you can be doing other things while watching or something important will be missed.
I think Sam does have feelings, he is just more emotional than Dean and does not want his hopes to be nothing. I think he would love Bobby back, but is afraid. I'm not saying this right, I know myself it is easier to be hard over something than be open and end up wrong and hurting.
I never expect a train-wreck, most of SPN eps are fine with me, it is rare for there to be one I don't like..anything with GhostFacers is a minus for me.
I agree, I hated the first ep back because I did not get any closure, did not find out what happened to him, did they just toss him in a hole. Now I am getting that and love it. I like none of the other helpers will ever be as good as Bobby, although I like Frank a 100 times better than the Prof.
Don't get your hopes up here. Unless I misunderstood, I believe I read in an interview with Jared that we would NOT find out why Sam was afraid of clowns. I remember wondering why they would not address it.
I don't know what you're talking about^^;;; I never said that I hope we'll find out, it just look like we'll have some sam,s moment next week. I didn't said anything about wanting to know ''why'' he's afraid of clowns
I loved the episode as usual, even tho I totally called that Sam was gonna kill the girl. I love the way it all played out tho, especially the sex scene/murder scene set to AC/DC!
I like this ep I really love the ending of it sam really getting mad and giving it to dean was great I like hell yes that was great. That was the only thing I liked about the ep.
I was thrilled to see a nicely balanced episode. Both boys got to talk about emotions, there was brotherly teasing and a bit of POV for both. This was also my favorite Dean "scene" yet. To me it definitely wasn't anywhere close to the "highlight"... That scene with his daughter was the high point for me... Poor Dean. He sees something off with Lydia and the "baby" and Sam just thinks he's obsessing over a girl. Thankfully Dean knows weird when he sees it.... "I hate when this happens" LOL, Dean said that like its happened before :-)
Loved Sam's part also... he just about fell apart when Dean was hoping Bobby was hanging around. Plus, this Limp!Sam fan loved the little gratuitous toss down the stairs.
It wasn't up to the level of 7x01 and 7x02, but I Loved the emotion, the action, and the ewwww. Thanks writers.
I was definitely pleased with this episode. I've found that recently they have been lacking something. But this episode felt more like the old days when it was just the brothers and a case. Oh, and some good ol' AC DC! It was nice to hear for a change. The boys always have each other's backs. That's why Sam had to kill Emma, just like Dean had to kill Amy. I believe it was the secrecy that hurt Sam more than the actual killing of Amy. With the boys still suffering through Bobby's death, you can finally see how it's affecting both of them. Dean was almost completely careless, which scared Sam, who seems to be barely hanging on to what's left of his sanity. I was very touched at the end when Sam begged his brother not to get himself killed.
I only have one problem though. I want the Impala back!!!!! Can't wait for the next episode. Should be interesting.
Are you talking about the hostility when Dean wanted to think the paper was moved by Bobby. I loved that part because it gave us a glimpse of Sam's emotion over Bobby. We don't get to see enough of it. I took it to mean that he couldn't let himself hope it was Bobby. Sam is also at the end of his rope. Dean is reaching for Bobby like a lifeline, but Sam is afraid to hope. At least that's the way I took it. I'm so desperate for Sam POV, that I try to pick up on every nuance.
To me, we have Bobby attached to the flask / Dean... so it will maybe make Dean feel better. Then, we can let Sam fall totally apart.
Another thing I was thinking. Remember in Time for a Wedding (sorry, but I loved that episode), there was the little brother bit at the end where Sam said he was still scrambled, but he knows the way around the plate. Now, Dean could start taking care of himself for a change. Sam feels he is a burden for Dean, but Dean sure didn't look pleased that he didn't "need" to look out for Sam anymore. He looked a bit "abandoned".
I am hoping that when Sam falls apart, Dean feels needed again and helps Sam back from the edge. That along with the warm fuzzy from Bobby's spirit will "fix" Dean. Or at least give him his reason to go on....
Finally watched it all (fell asleep early last night)...really, really liked this episode. The brothers only have each other now and their bond feels stronger then in previous episodes. Nice MOTW too. Children are always creepy and evil in SPN lore ;)
True, but Sam researched the Tibetan symbol. When he heard the kid who'd painted it saying they'd gotten from his cousin's textbooks, he took that bit of knowledge and went from there and figured out the whole Tulpa angle. I doubt he just knew that off the top of his head. It's how hunters work...you take a kernel of knowledge and figure it out. I've got no problem with going to a source like the professor for specific knowledge but not just standing around spinning their wheels. That just frustrates me, that's all.
Actually, I'm hoping when Sam finally goes off the deep end it will be what Dean needs to snap him OUT of the angst and get him back into big brother mode. His problem has been that he doesn't know what his role his anymore because he thinks Sam doesn't need him, but I think once both brothers realize they still need each other it will help him heal. At least I hope so...they've unravelled him about as much as they can, don't think they can take him much further. And with Sam almost literally unravelling, it would just be too much.
A convincing argument can be made both ways on this one. Since Dean never took the shot, we'll never know for sure. Could've gone either way.
He's definitely still a good hunter...all the proof you needed of that was him drawing on her in the first place. He knew from the moment he first heard the baby speaking that something was up, so when she showed up at his door he knew this wasn't just a straight up daddy/daughter moment. But Dean's still Dean so his hesitating didn't surprise me...there's a heart under that hard hunter surface.
Just like he said to Sam...that's what family is for, to take care of the stuff that's too tough for you to handle yourself. Fortunaely, he had Sam to step in for him.
for me this episode was very short about story line description the only good part was the flirting and almost nude sex scene the rest too jumping bobby spirit is with them but dean state of mind is a little craking try to holding with something else, stable person for guiedness and support rather that sam.
I felt there was plent of Sam's POV in this one for a change. We finally got an idea of how he's feeling about Bobby's death and we definitely got a sense of his opinion of Dean's "womaniizing". And in the final scene, we heard him express what I think was a combination of anger/frustration and fear...and maybe a touch of embarrassment. I think Dean's hesitating annoyed him because Dean had gotten on his case for doing the same thing with Amy but I think maybe he also realized how it had looked from Dean's side and was a little red-faced at that. And then there was the whole "don't get killed" exchange, which was his expresssion of fear because he's not sure he can through all the hallucination stuff without big brother. He didn't say a lot but I felt it was the most we'd gotten from Sam in a long time and I was glad that Dean didn't just brush it off, as he has been doing all season long. So for me I thought it was well handled, start to finish.
I even liked Time For A Wedding, the different looks on Dean's face when Sam told him he was getting married and then finding out it was Becky was worth the price of admission. lol
I don't see Sam losing any sympathy at all. In fact, quite the opposite. The final "don't get killed" exchange was one of the biggest flat out "awww" moments we've had since Season 2. Remember, Sam's still got Lucifer running around in his head, it may just be hard for him to clearly express his emotions at this point when he's carrying around so much baggage. I think that was his whole point at the end. Yeah, he was pissed about the Amy connection and he let that out...as he had a perfect right to do...but he also recognizes that he can't cope with the hallucinations without Dean and he's afraid he's losing his brother. I thought this was a GREAT episode in terms of Sam's side of things...much more than any other we've had up to now.
Bingo...I think Sam's afraid to get his hopes up, plain and simple. And he's also got a lot of crap going on in his head right now so it's probably effecting how he expresses his emotions.
They weren't fully human so what else would you call them? Monsters, creatures...supernatural entities? I did find it interesting that they got away in the end. Leaves the door open for potential complications in the future.
Oddly, I'm the exact opposite...I hate the emphasis on Dean drinking. Was kind of hoping we'd seen the last of it, but apparently they wanted to tie in the flask and the connection to Bobby, which is understandable.
And I had no problem with Dean hooking up with someone. In fact, to me it was a relief. Felt the old Dean was back again and we have SORELY missed him! He hadn't had a casual fling like that since before Lisa. Remember, back in Season 1/2 that was his thing. So for me it was not a problem at all.
:P But its more my bro you should thanks. I forgot about the flask by the end of the 7x11, but when my bro saw the episode (about 2 weeks after it aired), he thougt it was 'funny' to see Dean go for it.
So yesterday when I saw the episode, I thought about the beer incident and thinking of the moment, I had a flash of ''my brother laughing of...what was he laughing about?.....it was...THE FLASK 0_o''
Serious gripe with this episode. For anything from the Dean/Teen Emma/Sam part forward to sake any sense, you have to throw out everything you know if you've watched any of the first six seasons.
First, we know full and well that post-season five/pre-season six Sam killed innocent people. That Sam is worth trying to save but, a girl who hasn't killed anyone isn't?
Second, nothing close to the first point comes up in the car at the end. Did they both get a lobotomy at some point this season.
Third, Sam doesn't even question what he's done. As a guy who's friends/family have believed in him when he was beyond anything close to questionable, it's tough to believe that he has no misgivings about what he's done.
Just watched the episode. I liked the idea and thought it had potential to be a good monster of the week like the older episodes - and it delivered on that potential to a certain extent - but the tone bugged me. I think Sam had too much coffee that day. I don't know if this is supposed to be him hyped up because Luci is getting restless, but it was distracting. And Sam and Dean changing so much from episode to episode is annoying.
I read some of the other comments, and I didn't have a problem with Sam and Dean going to the expert for what appeared to be a local, obscure symbol. What I did have a problem with was Sam seeming to figure out that Dean may have hooked up with an Amazon as he's telling Dean about it. The old Sam would have figured it out long before Dean arrived home.
I didn't think Sam taking the shot was controversial. Sam heard Dean ask her to walk away, and heard her response, "I can't." She then turns to Sam with monster eyes and plays the fake-victim to Dean. It was different than Amy who, without being forced, made sacrifices so that she could live a life without killing, and only killed to save her son. Amy understood why killing was wrong. The girl was obviously playing Dean so that she could kill him. I'm not saying Dean was being played, but I don't think Sam wanted to take that chance right now, and Sam probably also wanted to spare Dean from having to take the shot.
The way I look at it, their job isn't to act as judge, it's to get dangerous monsters off the street. Both Sam and Dean have had their dark moments (for Sam it was the demon blood and the soullless time, for Dean it was when he was shutting off his emotions post-John and torturing). If they start measuring their own guilt against the crimes of those they hunt every time they hunt, they should really just retire now because they'd become paralyzed by guilt. From what Sam knew and heard, the girl was a monster who was intent on killing Dean, so Sam did what he needed to do to save his brother.
even if she ''hasn't killed anyone'' ...yet, the importnat word is yet. Dean told her she could walk away and she clearly said she couldn't, it seemed clear she was going to kill Dean the second she could. Sam didn't had a choice
I was re-watching the last few eps and noticed something, in Time After Time, Dean told Sam, "don't die" and in this ep Sam tells Dean, "don't get killed".
i missed parts of the beginning cuz the damn phone started ringing i was sooo pissed but I get to watch SPN eastern and pacific time so its all good but i hate it when someone disturbs me when im watchin it
I take it you don't have a DVR, I don't know how I watched TV all these many years without one. Best invention for the TV yet. lol I have 2 dual tuner ones and never have to miss a show. Fridays are busy, as SPN, Fringe & Grimm are all on at the same time and I hate watching TV on my computer.
You know, I don't have a good answer to that question. I think it has to do with the motives to me. The fact that these amazons simply didn't change their rituals over time is somehow different to me.
I didn't have a problem with Sam killing Emma. Emma was going to kill Dean. It was the point where they went to wipe them all out.
I dunno. Having to try and answer your question is making the logic hurt. I think it's back in the line with the argument Sam had when he ran into the vampires who refused to kill.
Yeah, I liked the editing for the sex/murder scene, but it irritated the hell out of me when they kept doing close ups on Dean and Lydia's eyes and mouths. A little too OTP.
A good, solid episode - more than I can say for most of the season.
Going to jump in on this one. The difference to me between the vamps and the Amazons is the Amazons were going to keep killing, that is how they increased their numbers...yeah I know the vamps ended up killing again, but at the time they were not. After typing this I am now in a grey area. lol A couple more killers that got away were the married witches and they tried to stop them and could not. I was fine with Sam killing Emma and both going after the rest of them. OK back to lurking. ;)
There's some things that I really liked, and others that I thought could've been better done.
For starters, the brothers were actually working together on the same monster in the same time-zone! I love the fact that Dean is willing to give in to the Ghost-Bobby-theory whereas Sam is like: 'Get real, we want this way to much and we never catch breaks so that'll never happen.' I suppose Sam has bigger things on his plate to focus on, so getting his hopes up on something isn't really good for him at the mo, but I just love the conflict. Also, the end talk in the car, like the good old days I'd love. Just ashame that it still isn't baby they're driving in. Never thought I'd miss a car in a TV-show, but I miss the Impala.
But the MOTW has got to improve. They use to figure everything out together! I thought this season was suppose to be about Sam and Dean struggling to get by on their own? Than why do they bring in different sidekicks in every ep? There hasn't been a single ep where they were completely without help. They already were in a time-period where they didn't have any help in seasons 1 & 2, and they got by just fine. I'm sure Sam would've been more than capable to figure out what the Amazon-symbol meant. And translate Greek? Use google-translator.. that should've been such a biggie. He used to be such a nerd -- what happened? I've been kind of disappointed by the way they introduce the monsters lately. They should look back on how MOTW-storylines were done in the early seasons and learn from that. But hey! at least the brotherly moments are back, and they did focus on Sams reaction to things a bit more this ep, so overall I'm happy. 7/10
"I don't care how you deal, I really, really don't. But just don't get killed" -- sob.
I agree. I guess Sam misses the ability to act all emotional because he's just so occupied coping with his visions. We don't get to see it, but it's still very much there.
Very intriguing point. I was just curious when you made that comment about not calling them monsters what exactly you meant. I hear what you're saying but I see a distinct difference between the Amazons and Lenore and her fellow vampires. The vampires weren't killing people...they made the conscious choice to drink animal blood rather than human. The Amazon's, whether it's simply their longstanding ritual or not, were actively killing people. Emma wasn't the only one doing the killing...their "ritual" included the murder of human beings, so I had no problem with Sam and Dean going to stop the whole bunch of them. But I find it fascinating that you saw it otherwise. Just goes to prove how much this show makes you stop and think!
Did you not see the fact that she was holding a knife on Dean? Despite the sob story, she was going to kill him...it's what the Amazons do. Dean gave her the choice to walk away and she didn't back down. At that point, Sam was completely justified in shooting her and Dean knew that so he couldn't exactly argue it...esepecially after the whole Amy episode. Sam didn't need to question what he'd done because he was right to do it. So I don't see what your whole point is here.
As for the car at the end...eveything that needed to be said was said. Sam was pissed because Dean didn't shoot Emma after getting on Sam's case for not shooting Amy. Dean knew how that looked and admitted to hesitating because she was his daughter. Sam then admitted what his true emotional state was...he was afraid because Dean nearly got himself killed and he doesn't want to face everything he's got to face without his brother. How does any of that not sync up with what we've watched for six seasons? As a matter of fact, that was the most like their old selves I've seen either brother in the last season and a half. It was exactly the reaction I'd expect from both of them and completely in line with what happened.
Agreed on the MOTW approach. They have been kind of lacking in that area of late. I definitely agree that they should go back and look at Seasons 1/2 to remind themselves of how it should be done. I miss that real "mini horror movie of the week" feel.
loved this it was like the old days .Sam making fun of Dean .And who cares if they had help they used to go to bobby even in season 1 when meg was attacking them and bobby told them about a devils trap , then in "born under a bad sing" when Sam is possesd by Meg and Bobby gave them the neckless to not be possesed . Then when they had the rabbits foot do i need to go on?.The point being is yes they go to people for help even though there hunters they dont know everything .Dean is taking it hard bobby's death i aint saying Sam's not but a little bit of hope is not that bad to have that boobys still there i thought Sam was kindy monany and just not like him ,he usually dosent like to take away hope from people but yet he was shouting at dean ,maby he has been let down that much that he dosent want any hope .I loved the rock music yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and good seeing sara caning cause am a tvd fan to :) that sence was hot ok .............stop drowling lol.Anyways i loved how Dean said am trying cause when you loss somebody thats all you can do . This is 8/10 for me not outstanding but a good eposide kindy mindy me of the Xfiles feeling
You know, at the time, a lot of people complained about how dark and angsty season 4 was but I'd take that over how miserable and depressing this season is. I liked this week's plot but I would have liked it even more if they didn't end up making it about how horrible the Winchesters' lives are.
For me, this was, by far, the best episode of Season 7. I found nothing to make fault of. The sex scene was almost overwhelming in that the woman took Dean. There were moments of almost doubt in his eyes, but being Dean, lust took over. His comment to Sam that was getting too old for this, made me wonder even more. I must admit, seeing him drop his pants was a first for either of the boys on Supernatural. For some crazy reason, I can't get that picture out of my mind. lol
It was really not a trade off or anything when Sam killed Emma because she was evil and a monster and needed killing when Dean seemed to not be able to. Does Dean have a death wish? Bobby is seldom wrong. Sam has figured it out. The difference between Amy and Emma? In a weird way, Emma was family, but then, Dean's attitude on family changed last season. He didn't really consider his grandfather or cousins to be family. Family was Bobby, Sam, Rufus, Castiel, and numerous others who have died, like Ellen and Jo. I must agree with him on that. I have those born into my family who are not really family. I have friends who really are.
The story was well written, by new writers, which gives me hope. They knew Sam and Dean. The new director did an incredible job. When it gets down to Jensen and Jared, I never have a problem. They will take anything and make it good.
I thought it was a pretty good episode. A good case which might be revisited down the line? The last scene between the boys was a highlight but the best part was of course Bobby...he's still around!!
I just want to know what happened to Dean's hand print.
And for those of you saying Sam killing the girl was payback for Amy, I call foul. He killed Emma to protect Dean. Plain and simple. I just hate how hateful Sam was towards Dean for Dean's supposed inability to kill his own flesh and blood.
Wouldn't the DNA on the flask make Bobby able to be manufactured by the Leviathan? The resulting plot twist would rip the collective heart out of the fan base.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved it! Depressed now, but it was so good!
ReplyDeletePoor Dean and Sam - Dean for meeting and almost being killed by his own daughter, and for Sam for having to kill his own niece.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I believe in Ghost!Bobby.
ReplyDeleteDon't wanna say I told you so to the person who thought it was going to be keep in secret and create a huge fight with the boys split up or wahtever exactly like with Amy....but... :P
ReplyDeleteAnyway, not an awesome one, but better than I expected :)
ReplyDeleteOne thing that did bug me is the dependency on someone else to figure stuff out.
ReplyDeleteGood for Sam. Vindication for Amy going down. Looks like he's fed up with Dean's crap and pulling the wagon.
ReplyDeleteLike the way they are teasing the GhostBobby. And we finally found out that they DID burn Bobby.
A lot of stuff in a one hour show tonight.
Did I hear someone say Dick is dead/gone?
This was my thought, that Bobby was either attached to hsi flask, or to all of his stuff. He was really attached to his books and what not, so it makes sense. Plus, I mean, some of his dna could easily be on them. S kin flakes, or whatever really.
ReplyDeleteGhostBobby FTW
My God what an awful episode! This one sure was made for the sake of a Dean's sex scene. Horrible plot. Poor Sara Canning. She was only there for the sex. Oooh and some Dean girls must be fangirling around "OMG OMG Dean dropped his pants" Meh.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Dean did point out the flask. Ghosts can get attached to objects, not to mention people. He said he couldn't leave the boys. If he's a ghost he might even be attached to them.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it either. If they're going to kill Bobby at least take the opportunity to force Sam and Dean to do their own research without help.
ReplyDeleteExactly. How many times in earlier seasons have we seen Sam hunched over the laptop and Dean joking about him knowing so much stuff. Now they can't seem to figure anything out.
ReplyDeleteOk, now THAT'S what I'm talking about!! A real, thought provoking, heart tugging classic Supernatural episode. Man, I'd been missing that!
ReplyDeleteI have to get it out of the way off the top...DAYUM Jensen was smoking in this one, and not just the love scene, though that was the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteTo me it look like you're the one who only saw the 30 secondes sex scene in the episode and miss the rest
I loved the ep, lot of action and humor and I liked the way no one can replace Bobby. Was that him in the room moving the paper they needed. Even liked Sam getting to kill Emma because Dean could not do it...pay back for Amy?? To me the eps just keep getting better..
ReplyDeleteI think what they said that the track to hunt Dick is dead/cold for now
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThey burned John also, but he got out of hell and helped them kill YED.
ReplyDeleteA ghost can be around despite his body having been burned. We saw John escapting from Hell at the end of Season 2 after the boys had burned his body. It happens. That was definitely pointing toward Bobby, whether Sam wants to believe it or not. His being attached to the flask is a good point.
ReplyDeleteI don't get that either. Don't understand why the writers can't have them working stuff out on their own. I did like that they went back to mementoing later on though...that was cool.
ReplyDeleteI think they said Dick was laying low...as in they still have no idea what his big plan is. I don't think he's gone entirely. That would be too easy.
ReplyDeleteUm ok...there was SO much more to that episode than the love scene...that was really incidental, frankly. This episode was giving us a LOT of emotional/plot development between the brothers that we'd been missing...that's what I really loved most about it. Sorry you didn't see that.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I was apprehensive about this ep simply because I didn't know how they could do what they had advertised doing and keep Dean in character at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI love the mystery about Bobby.
I just thought of something, in Adv. in Babbysitting, we DID saw the flask (in the bad) right before the beer moment.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm almost certain it's what keeping Bobby there :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode. Loved it from start to finish. Like Sam teasing Dean it made you think of season1 the way they were. So sad to see Dean when he was talking to Emma. I guess Bobby chose to say with the guy's. Next weeks looks great can't wait. Great job to everyone another great episode.
ReplyDeleteAgreed except for one tiny detail...I'm not so sure Sam was wrong about Dean not shooting. We know his weakness for kids and this was HIS kid. I'm not so sure he would've shot. If he was just going to shoot, he'd have done it right away, not hung around waiting until Sam had to step in.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame him for hesitating under the circumstances but Sam was right...he could've been killed.
ReplyDeleteLike i said on the other post, remember what we saw, what we zoomed big time right before the beer moment in the 7x11? That's right; the flask :P I think we have every reason to believe Bobby's still there
ReplyDeleteIn Seasons 1, 2 and 3, Sam figured it out all the time. He used the Journal, the laptop and his brain. They rarely called Bobby for help. And when Sam couldn't figure it out Dean could. Even if it meant going to a library.
ReplyDeleteGood pick up...I didn't remember that!
ReplyDeleteDidn't they kind of do just that for the Blue Oyster Cult symbol back in "Hell House"? And when they couldn't find anything on the symbol on their own through Internet searches, Dean just eventually remembered where he had seen it?
ReplyDeleteExactly...they've both been doing this for almost 30 years now, they've got to have a pretty big knowledge base by this time. I just think the writers are making a little too big a deal out them getting help from other quarters.
ReplyDelete1:21 :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWzyI0iHAVY
Yep...while Sam was researching the Tulpa symbol that eventually led to their solution in that case. No calling Bobby for a quick assist.
ReplyDeleteAwful - it was worse than Bugs
ReplyDeletewas ok the Winchesters a truly alone now nobody else to call for help
ReplyDeleteI'm so tired of the brothers fighting.
ReplyDeleteAnd why do the guys need so much help with the research?
ReplyDeleteAs for developing the character of Lydia (the mother), I think that was the whole point of the Amazons...there wasn't supposed to be an emotional connection.
I'm betting they'll just move on from there and not fight over that
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but he was still holding a gun on her and he didn't fall for her act at all, so the way I saw it, he was testing her. He had no delusions she would take him up on the offer to leave, but he needed to be absolutely sure before shooting what was technically his own daughter. I'm still glad Sam did it, but I believed Dean when he said he wasn't going to let her go. Even without his head in the game, he's still a good hunter.
ReplyDeleteYes, but the moment Dean saw it the BOC logo spray painted on the wall he said it was familiar. So he did have a basis for recognizing it, he just needed to remember it. There wasn't any 'research' involved, Dean finally remembered seeing it on an album cover. I don't think he has the basis for little known Amazon/Greek symbols. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was one of those "Supernatural" episodes that could've been a full-length TV movie. There were half a dozen bits that needed more depth.
ReplyDeleteI think ur right this person definetly missed the rest of the episode it was good to see them still thinking about Bobby that was sweet
ReplyDeleteThey actually figured everything out except for the symbol.
ReplyDeleteI agree He hesitated cuz she hadn't killed anyone yet and Emma was his daughter but If Sam hadn't stepped in I believe Dean would've taken the shot But I'm Glad that it was Sam who did it.
ReplyDeletePretty good episode overall!
ReplyDeleteI liked Sam's line at the end, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, if it hadn't been for the fact that the episode slightly centered around the fact that Dean got one of the Amazons pregnant, I would have forgotten that scene completely.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure about the Amy reference being handle well in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you're saying about Lydia.
Okay. I was distracted for a second and sat wondering if these Rabbit/Amazonians took Dick out.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteOkay. I was distracted for a second and sat wondering if these Rabbit/Amazonians took Dick out.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I thought this was a good filler episode. Introduced a new supernatural being. Atleast they didn't drag out the Dean not wondering if Bobby was a Ghost. Even if they burned his bones, Bobby is probably attached to something (The Brothers or maybe the Flask)
ReplyDeleteI'm also thinking that episode Meg is in could also possibly have Bobby in it.
That's why I keep wondering if Bobby will hang around like Sam? from Ghost and eventually help the Boys take out Dick and pass through into the light in episode 23.
ReplyDeleteThankfully Sam broke his phone AFTER everybody but Dean and Sheriff Mills were dead. Not much data to replace.
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking with my thought from early in the season that DrinkyDean will screw something really big up due to the booze.
Too bad we can't get a Seely Booth sighting for next week's clowns!
I loved it. And I truly believe Dean would've pulled the trigger if Sam hadn't done it - it just would've taken longer.
ReplyDeleteBest line: "You're just as screwed up as I am - just bigger."
I would've liked them to be just a little more in sync in the last few seconds but at least they weren't at each other's throats.
I really thought, for a MOTW ep, that this one really progressed the story on other fronts too. I thought the writing was strong, the directing was good, and all the other production values were, as always, wonderful (Serge is a master...the lighting is always so gorgeous).
ReplyDeleteI found myself enjoying, even with the sad and depressing nature of most of the episode, every moment!
ReplyDeleteI hope he doesn't have to burn the flask, I really do.
ReplyDeleteFor the Bobby, I don't know like i said earlier in my post, but maybe it was just Sam not wanting to have false hope that you can't prove. If you have false hope and later find out they were false, it hurt. Maybe he was just scared to get hurt again. Or my friend's theory is that he's just trying to deal with it on his own. I know my friend's a bit like that, if she's sad (like she lost her boyfriend or whatever), she doesn't talk about it, or at all, and if you try to engage the subject she'll just get angry for no reason. According to her, maybe Sam's just trying to deal and/or stress like you said. Maybe it's part of me, my friend and your theory, all 3 are possible, but yes.... maybe it's something completely different^^;
ReplyDeleteNothing's worse than "Bugs."
ReplyDeleteWow, that was actually a really good episode. I was expecting a trainwreck.
ReplyDeleteI loved this ep. Really well written and constructed. Loads of great scenes. Some people seem angry with how Sam was at the end, but don't they see that he was REALLY scared of losing Dean?
ReplyDeleteMostly agree with everyone that it was a great episode, it could have been an awesome one, but I gad two small problems with it.
ReplyDeleteEmma could have been more mind screwy, It was kind of obvious she would not be making out alive from this ep.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the time my sister and I got into a minor car accident when we were teenagers.
Huh.
ReplyDeleteI liked the scene between Dean and his daughter.
ReplyDeleteAgree. I really do wish they werent doing the Dean angst this season or at least not to the degree they are doing it.
ReplyDeleteI hate the fact that Dean had to sleep with someone in this episode.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good episode and i hope the ghost is bobby. poor dean how many more times are they going to knock him down.
ReplyDeletei think sera forgot about the amulet. but i agree it is very dean.
ReplyDeleteThat has been the problem with Sams storytelling alot no build up or knowing why? or where his head is at. We can guess but that is a issue in its self we shouldnt need to keep guessing .
ReplyDeleteThis episode was alright in its self but the Dean angst is getting a bit grating. Can we and he be allowed to move on so he doesnt end up disappearing underneath it all.
Loved it! Pure SPN. And the heartbreaking look on Sam's face at the end when he asked Dean, just don't get killed...then Dean's reaction, shows how lost they both really are.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the many things I love about SPN, every thing means something and you have to pay attention to the little things. Hell YES, Ghost/Spirit Bobby
ReplyDeleteI am very mixed on this, Sam is a good hunter, but he let Amy go. I want to believe Dean would have taken the shot, but he does feel for kids and Emma was his. This is another of the SPN mysteries that we can wonder about.
ReplyDeleteDang I do love this show and all the little things we have to watch for. Not a show you can be doing other things while watching or something important will be missed.
I just think the brothers (and fans) are going through the stages of grief over Bobby and the writers are working it into the show the best they can.
ReplyDeleteI think Sam does have feelings, he is just more emotional than Dean and does not want his hopes to be nothing. I think he would love Bobby back, but is afraid. I'm not saying this right, I know myself it is easier to be hard over something than be open and end up wrong and hurting.
ReplyDeleteI never expect a train-wreck, most of SPN eps are fine with me, it is rare for there to be one I don't like..anything with GhostFacers is a minus for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I hated the first ep back because I did not get any closure, did not find out what happened to him, did they just toss him in a hole. Now I am getting that and love it. I like none of the other helpers will ever be as good as Bobby, although I like Frank a 100 times better than the Prof.
ReplyDeleteDon't get your hopes up here. Unless I misunderstood, I believe I read in an interview with Jared that we would NOT find out why Sam was afraid of clowns. I remember wondering why they would not address it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you're talking about^^;;; I never said that I hope we'll find out, it just look like we'll have some sam,s moment next week. I didn't said anything about wanting to know ''why'' he's afraid of clowns
ReplyDeleteI loved the episode as usual, even tho I totally called that Sam was gonna kill the girl. I love the way it all played out tho, especially the sex scene/murder scene set to AC/DC!
ReplyDeleteI like this ep I really love the ending of it sam really getting mad and giving it to dean was great I like hell yes that was great. That was the only thing I liked about the ep.
ReplyDeleteLOL here's hoping he doesn't get frustrated and just toss the flask out like garbage at some point.
ReplyDeleteIt might also be that Sam needs most of his marbles to keep Lucifer at bay.
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to see a nicely balanced episode. "I hate when this happens" LOL, Dean said that like its happened before :-)
ReplyDeleteLoved Sam's part also... he just about fell apart when Dean was hoping Bobby was hanging around. Plus, this Limp!Sam fan loved the little gratuitous toss down the stairs.
It wasn't up to the level of 7x01 and 7x02, but I Loved the emotion, the action, and the ewwww. Thanks writers.
Surprised no-one has picked up on this. The girl who played Emma, played Missy Bender in The Benders episode.
ReplyDeleteI liked Bugs... Nothing (on Supernatural) is worse than Family Remains... *shiver*.
ReplyDeleteI was definitely pleased with this episode. I've found that recently they have been lacking something. But this episode felt more like the old days when it was just the brothers and a case. Oh, and some good ol' AC DC! It was nice to hear for a change.
ReplyDeleteThe boys always have each other's backs.
ReplyDeleteTo me, we have Bobby attached to the flask / Dean... so it will maybe make Dean feel better.
ReplyDeleteI did not mind Bugs either, like I have said, the only ones I truly can not stand are GhostFacers eps.
ReplyDeleteExcellent comment, that is just the way I am thinking, but you said it so much better.
ReplyDeleteWe talked about it in earlier spoiler threads. She looked great and all grown up, didn't she?
ReplyDeleteI'll second that. I'm sure I saw that shot the first time I watched the episode but it just didn't sink in. Thanks for picking up on it, Megan! :D
ReplyDeleteTrue, but Sam researched the Tibetan symbol.
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm hoping when Sam finally goes off the deep end it will be what Dean needs to snap him OUT of the angst and get him back into big brother mode.
ReplyDeleteA convincing argument can be made both ways on this one. Since Dean never took the shot, we'll never know for sure. Could've gone either way.
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely still a good hunter...all the proof you needed of that was him drawing on her in the first place.
GhostFacers and Time For A Wedding are both far worse than Bugs.
ReplyDeletefor me this episode was very short about story line description the only good part was the flirting and almost nude sex scene the rest too jumping bobby spirit is with them but dean state of mind is a little craking try to holding with something else, stable person for guiedness and support rather that sam.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agreed on Sam's falling apart being the push Dean needs to get back in big brother mode again. Man, I hope we're both right on that one!
ReplyDeleteI felt there was plent of Sam's POV in this one for a change.
ReplyDeleteI even liked Time For A Wedding, the different looks on Dean's face when Sam told him he was getting married and then finding out it was Becky was worth the price of admission. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't see Sam losing any sympathy at all.
ReplyDeleteI want to know why he stopped wearing the ring!! They never explained that.
ReplyDeleteBingo...I think Sam's afraid to get his hopes up, plain and simple. And he's also got a lot of crap going on in his head right now so it's probably effecting how he expresses his emotions.
ReplyDelete:) No problem
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more. Sam was scared about losing Dean. That was my favorite part of the whole episode!
ReplyDeleteIt was more a production reason than a script reason, jensen explained it many years ago that he was tired of wearing it and it was all used too
ReplyDeleteThey weren't fully human so what else would you call them? Monsters, creatures...supernatural entities? I did find it interesting that they got away in the end. Leaves the door open for potential complications in the future.
ReplyDeleteOddly, I'm the exact opposite...I hate the emphasis on Dean drinking. Was kind of hoping we'd seen the last of it, but apparently they wanted to tie in the flask and the connection to Bobby, which is understandable.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had no problem with Dean hooking up with someone. In fact, to me it was a relief. Felt the old Dean was back again and we have SORELY missed him! He hadn't had a casual fling like that since before Lisa. Remember, back in Season 1/2 that was his thing. So for me it was not a problem at all.
Wow...never would have recognized her!!
ReplyDeleteOh hell yes...I am SO missing the Impala!!! Bring baby back!!!
ReplyDeleteNever heard that. It always bugged me that it just disappeared with an explanation. I loved that ring!
ReplyDelete:P But its more my bro you should thanks. I forgot about the flask by the end of the 7x11, but when my bro saw the episode (about 2 weeks after it aired), he thougt it was 'funny' to see Dean go for it.
ReplyDeleteSo yesterday when I saw the episode, I thought about the beer incident and thinking of the moment, I had a flash of ''my brother laughing of...what was he laughing about?.....it was...THE FLASK 0_o''
:P
Serious gripe with this episode. For anything from the Dean/Teen Emma/Sam part forward to sake any sense, you have to throw out everything you know if you've watched any of the first six seasons.
ReplyDeleteFirst, we know full and well that post-season five/pre-season six Sam killed innocent people.
I'm pretty sure you can Google just about anything, XD!
ReplyDeleteIt was good. A bit anticlimactic (which is why I only gave it a great) but good.
ReplyDeletefor me d minus the screanplay awfull
ReplyDeleteJust watched the episode.
ReplyDeleteI read some of the other comments, and I didn't have a problem with Sam and Dean going to the expert for what appeared to be a local, obscure symbol.
ReplyDeleteeven if she ''hasn't killed anyone'' ...yet, the importnat word is yet. Dean told her she could walk away and she clearly said she couldn't, it seemed clear she was going to kill Dean the second she could. Sam didn't had a choice
ReplyDeleteI was re-watching the last few eps and noticed something, in Time After Time, Dean told Sam, "don't die" and in this ep Sam tells Dean, "don't get killed".
ReplyDeletei missed parts of the beginning cuz the damn phone started ringing i was sooo pissed but I get to watch SPN eastern and pacific time so its all good but i hate it when someone disturbs me when im watchin it
ReplyDeleteI take it you don't have a DVR, I don't know how I watched TV all these many years without one. Best invention for the TV yet. lol I have 2 dual tuner ones and never have to miss a show. Fridays are busy, as SPN, Fringe & Grimm are all on at the same time and I hate watching TV on my computer.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they can find some lore that would let them use the flask to call Bobby back. (Yeah, I'm desperate.)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I don't have a good answer to that question. I think it has to do with the motives to me. The fact that these amazons simply didn't change their rituals over time is somehow different to me.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a problem with Sam killing Emma.
ReplyDeleteA good, solid episode - more than I can say for most of the season.
OK back to lurking. ;)
ReplyDeleteThere's some things that I really liked, and others that I thought could've been better done.
ReplyDeleteFor starters, the brothers were actually working together on the same monster in the same time-zone!
Can't wait for Pennywhistles!
I agree. I guess Sam misses the ability to act all emotional because he's just so occupied coping with his visions. We don't get to see it, but it's still very much there.
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing point.
ReplyDeleteDid you not see the fact that she was holding a knife on Dean? Despite the sob story, she was going to kill him...it's what the Amazons do. Dean gave her the choice to walk away and she didn't back down. At that point, Sam was completely justified in shooting her and Dean knew that so he couldn't exactly argue it...esepecially after the whole Amy episode. Sam didn't need to question what he'd done because he was right to do it. So I don't see what your whole point is here.
ReplyDeleteAs for the car at the end...eveything that needed to be said was said.
ReplyDeleteloved this it was like the old days .Sam making fun of Dean .And who cares if they had help they used to go to bobby even in season 1 when meg was attacking them and bobby told them about a devils trap , then in "born under a bad sing" when Sam is possesd by Meg and Bobby gave them the neckless to not be possesed .
ReplyDeleteIt was okay.
ReplyDeleteYou know, at the time, a lot of people complained about how dark and angsty season 4 was but I'd take that over how miserable and depressing this season is.
For some crazy reason, I can't get that picture out of my mind. lol
ReplyDeleteIt was really not a trade off or anything when Sam killed Emma because she was evil and a monster and needed killing when Dean seemed to not be able to.
All in all, this is my favorite.
I thought it was a pretty good episode. A good case which might be revisited down the line? The last scene between the boys was a highlight but the best part was of course Bobby...he's still around!!
ReplyDeleteI just want to know what happened to Dean's hand print.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those of you saying Sam killing the girl was payback for Amy, I call foul.
