  1. Interesting episode...
Extra layer of spooky to me since McKie looks incredible similar to my friends older brother! XD

We got to see our first example of a jumped 63 adjusting to modern times... McKie asking about smart phones that play video. "What do you got there?.... Is it on television?"

Beauregard amuses me! So fun to see him smoking in a modern day medical room. I guess you can take the man out of his time, but you cannot take the time out of the man! XD

At first upon hearing Dr. B sat Lucy was "dreaming" I considered astral projection as a means to the past, but I'm not sure how that would play...

I wonder where Hauser picked up Chinese language skills... More so  I wonder how that shop clerk understood exactly what Hauser was saying since it sounded to me as if Hauser was seriously mangling some Mandarin! XD

So Hauser is fluent in Chinese and what's Rebecca Madsen's favorite food again? Coincidence?

Not a lot of Doc in this one, the show had a different pace without as many of his comical quips and insights. Not worse or better, just felt different to me.

I enjoyed seeing Jack Sylvane again. I find this "change" he mentioned intriguing.  Was it some cathartic moment of his"past life's" mission of revenge being played out that allowed him to move on? Was
something more? It seems like every week I keep coming back to Episode 1.02 and Cobb's cellmate "Yapper" mindless ranting "for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed". Another translation of the text  from Corinthians 15:52 is "for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed"....
Incorruptible as in incapable of decay or as in without corruption?

Speaking of transformation... Dr. B. Gave Hauser the Metamorphoses of Ovid to read to Lucy.  A book about various transformation that often come back to the theme of "love". That sound familiar to anyone? It's another Bad Robot staple!
This episode did not find that perfect balance to me. Once again I loved the content that touched on the mythology of the show, but the COTW felt a bit rushed to me. Maybe just me?

The last two episodes have been a notch below "Awesome" for me, but still great for sure. I did not notice any time continuity errors tonight either. Maybe the edits and reshoots and related kinks have worked their way out now?

  2. It was a great episode very creepy. Hope the ratings turn out in favor of Alcatraz.

  3. We shouldn't be too concerned, I guess. The showrunners sort of treat the show (in interviews) as if a second season has already been commissioned.

  4. Very good but I hope it isn't decending into just another procedural.

  5. I liked it! Is great seeing Hauser's weaknesses, although I'm still waiting anxiously for the Madsen arc to develop a bit more!

  6. I am really enjoying this show, even if it is a bit case of the week I just like watching the characters and I sense a romantic or at least tension filled future for Rebecca and Jack

  8. Tell me if im wrong but im getting a feelings that lucy might wake up to a certain inmate that arrives to the present day. idea that has been used in lots of show where comes to actors/actress falling into a coma.

Gotta admit these stand alones episodes dont connect with jack.kit.guy hastings episode and certainly jj abrams is throwing us off with these stand alones lol

Thing thats got me laughing was when lucy was interviewing mckee and bam slides across from left to right is the warden lol im telling ya reminded me of batman when he creeps up on commissioner gordon all the time lol

One thing that bother me whoever is bringing them back y chose the weakest prisoners and y use prisoners who had beef with someone in prison to get the mission done.

    1. Jack had beef with e.b. tiller because he caused him to go to solitary confinement, 2012 he had the key(how in the world did jack get his hands on the key that warden had)  and some cash then went on killing e.b. tiller why? whats the purpose of killing him?

    2. Ernst Cobb came back shot first three ppl, then shooting lucy why? whats the purpose of trying to kill her?

    3. Cal robbed banks in order to locate the key that ended up in the safety deposit box. How in the world a key that warden had ended up in a safety deposit box?

    4. Finally Guy hastings came back to track down ray archer to locate tommy and kill him. Again why kill tommy and what purpose would it play? Secondly guy took ray under his wing and found out he was related to tommy and kept an eye on him.

Im starting to believe that jack and cal was suppose to deliver the keys to someone or someplace but were unsuccessful. Guy was told to kill tommy because apparently tommy is getting in the way of whoever is doing this. Ernest was told to kill ppl and also kill lucy which was also unsuccessful also jack was not only told to deliver the key but kill e.b. tiller as well.

If you ask me whoever this mysterious player or players is they tieing up loose ends in the present time.

  9. It will be interesting to see how the tone and overall direction of the show changes now. These first 7 episodes were all with Elizabeth Sarnoff (LOST) at the helm as showrunner, but she left citing "creative differences" and from here on out it will be up to two different showrunners I'm not familiar with... Jennifer Johnson and Daniel Pyne.

Ya, I don't understand the endgame yet either or why some 63s had missions... or who those missions were from! XD

I think the keys were definitely supposed to be delivered though. Maybe to the mystery man that will show up later this year? The showrunners have said that a new character will be introduced and he knows what's going on or knows more about the disappearances and reappearances than anyone else we've met so far. So that should be fun!

I'm still not sold that the collected keys belonged to Warden James though. They have different markings and would not fit the lock he used under Alcatraz. Maybe they fit a room under Alcatraz 2.0? They definitely look like prison keys though! I was looking for pictures of Alcatraz keys last month and it seems like that basic key shape is common among most older prisons from 1920 - 1960.

  10. Really interesting. --We have to remember are keys are made with lasers too! --So you might be right about about thinking towards Alcatraz 2.0...but even so, what benifit would some of those criminals have in escaping? --It's seems like Sylvane and maybe Sweeney are the only one's capable (hence they go the keys) to go on missions and not just completely revert back to previous pre-alcatraz behavior....

I still have thoughts about a the real "hole" being alien technology (part of me feels the Kurtzman and Orci in this, even though they are not apart of this show)...so far Bad Robot (except for Super 8 and Star Trek) has yet to give us something from 'outer space' as an advanced technological machine...but who knows if we will ever know from when and where it really comes from, we only learn what it can do...

  11. That is likely possible but u gotta remember hauser built alcatraz 2.0 cell block as its in the original alcatraz.

basement and big heavy door still remains in the old prison along with all the prisoners stuff
