Supernatural and Vampire Diaries for sure.. I don't watch any of the others, but I'll go with Ringer because at least I know that it has people who can act and Gossip Girl.I've only watched a couple of seasons, but I know it has a pretty big fanbase and they deserve a final season. From the new ones,Arrow and The Selection, which gets my vote only because the plot is somewhat similar to The Hunger Games.
The Vampire Diaries is just good business sense, since it's the network's top show. I'd also keep Supernatural, and not just because I'm biased ;) They've got a strong fan base that could carry it through at least one final season. I'm also going to put Ringer on the list, just because I think it's severely under-appreciated. It's a great show with a lot of potential!
Vampire Diaries, Secret Circle (with a lot of changes in the writers room!), Supernatural (even if I never watch it). Then Cult, Beauty and the Beast, Arrow (even if I won't watch myself) as new shows. May be The Selection.
SPN, TVD, HoD, Nikita, are the only ones I would miss if they were gone. New ones Arrow, Beauty and the Beast, Cult, The Selection. NO REALITY SHOWS AT ALL. I stll need 2 more for the week so guess Ringer( but for me the acting is so bad in this show and they are not using Jason Dohring nearly enough), & Secret Circle, a show I really wanted to like, but just can not get involved with any of the characters, just don't care what happens to them. I like shows that can make me laugh or cry with the characters and have cried buckets with and for SPN & TVD.
This is a great idea for a poll! I went with keeping more old shows than trying out new ones; Supernatural, Nikita, Gossip Girl, TVD, Secret Circle, Ringer, 90210. I'd let Hart of Dixie die, for sure. The only new shows I'd pick are Beauty and the Beast, Arrow, Shelter, and The Selection.
This is only what I would do based on the CW picking up 5 Bew Dramas for the Fall
-I don't really car which New Shows they pick up so just place any 5 in the designated time slots -TVD is the nets biggest lead in therefore will lead out a new show -SC will move to another night at the moment I say Friday because I see Nikita being cancelled and I don't think SC is a good enough lead in. -GG gets a final 13 episode order to air mid season same as OTH -90210's ratings are good enough to warrant another season esp with how close it is to syndication -SPN's ratings are good enough to warrant another season -New shows should be paired together on Monday and Tuesday the nets weakest 2 nights and they should not be paired with weak existing shows as lead ins or anchors.
I would keep TVD, Supernatural, 90210 and ANTM because they are the highest in ratings. I would keep Heart of Dixie because before the hiatus it was starting to move up in the ratings. I would keep Nikita because I like it, even though the ratings should kill it. I would try Cult, Arrow, Beauty and the Beast for the supernatural/comic book/fantasy elements. I would pick Shelter because it sounds light and a little like the old WB shows.
I choose one out of twelve. The only show worth watching and the only one I tune in for. The rest are like watching repeats of the same thing over and over with different faces in the parts.
Honestly, I'd kill everything they've got except "Supernatural" and "The Vampire Diaries." Overall the CW has the worst, cheesiest collection of shows currently airing.
Vampire Diaries and Supernatural are my favorite on the channel (one way obv more than the other lol), but I still enjoy Gossip Girl too. I would keep around Secret Circle, Nikita, and Ringer because even tho I don't watch those, they seem interesting and add a new dynamic to the CW. All the other current shows are tired and boring. As for new shows, I would def add Arrow to fill the Smallville void and would love to see The Carrie Diaries
Ignore the percentages in all the spoilertv polls, they are all wrong.
There must be a way to set up these polls so they show the correct percentages. I can't believe that PollDaddy (with all their options) wouldn't have an option to display the percentage based on the number of voters, not the number of votes.
I dont really Mind the other shows.. as long as Nikita is in there. I would love ringer to survive too.. but with those ratings i dont have faith it will=/
But they wouldn't be wrong. The percentages in this poll are meaningless, you might as well not even show them.
Currently it shows 12.8% for Vampire Diaries. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing.
It should show probably something like 90% which would tell us that the vast majority of people think it should get renewed. If the actual number was 40%, then we would know most people didn't even think that the most popular show on CW was worth renewing.

These polls could give us 2 pieces of useful information.
1. The number of votes each item receives.
2. The percentage of people who vote for each item.
Right now we only get #1. #2 is far more useful information.
The 12.8% is redundant information. It is just a repeat of the number of votes, in a different form. That is fine in a poll where you can only vote on 1 item.
The problem in a poll like this is that some people vote on 1 item and some vote on as many as 11. If the percentages were based on the number of voters then that variance would be reflected in the percentages.
If you tell someone that 12.8% of the votes were for TVD. What possible useful information does that give them?
There must be a way in polldaddy to show the correct percentages.
Polldaddy is definitely counting the number of voters. That is the number that should be used in the calculation rather than total votes. If you are using AJAX, it should be very easy to make the change.
If you are selecting options from a list, there must be an option there somewhere because that is the way the vast majority of pollers would want the results displayed.
These polls would be a lot cooler with the right %s. I really hope you can find a way to change it.
I've put far too much thought into this considering I have less a chance of ever being asked my opinion by the CW than Dean and Sam have of getting a happy ending. Quite honestly, I would not want to be in Pedowtiz's shoes right now. Trying to turning around a half-submerged ship and get her floating again in the middle of the ocean seems like an impossible task. Plus there's the fact that conventional TV wisdom may not apply when things are this dire. Conventional wisdom says pair new shows with current ones and never put a new show on a Friday unless you want to get rid of it. I'm not sure that will work for next season. So here's my TV head choices based on business and not by any means on personal choice.
Gossip Girl and 90210 each get a 13 episode final season, sharing a slot. Personally I think the sooner the CW is no longer associated with GG the better but this show still has one of the best per ad prices on the CW unless something changes big time at upfronts this year. It also has huge iTunes sales and good DVR ratings. As for 90210, it is doing better than most shows ratings wise and it gives them a few more episodes for syndication negotiation. Plus, both GG and 90210 are in-house productions so there is the Netflix factor.
Speaking of, I would take a good portion of that billion dollar Netflix contract to use on network, more than show, promotion and to add extra shows in attempt to limit reruns. CW needs a promotion blitz to coincide with an image update. Therefore, I would get rid of 1/2 my current slots and target a slightly older age group. If I have to choose between this crop of pilots that will be difficult so I would look at a couple last minute pilot orders. I would add a comedy night and more reality TV and a game show as schedule spackle. The fact is that the CW needs to have fewer reruns to increase its ratings. (Yes, I hate reality as much as the next person, but the simple fact is that they are very cheap to make and if you stumble upon a hit, it can carry several of your other shows.)
Here's what my schedule would be:
Mondays: 90210 & Gossip Girl / Carrie Diaries Tuesdays: new comedy night (4 half hour sitcoms heavily promoted) Wednesdays: move ATNM to first hour & have Cult as 10 episode midseason & then ANTM again / Secret Circle with The Selection as 10 episode midseason but change the premise so it's more a survival story to capitalize on Hunger Games - goal = no reruns on Wednesdays during whole season Thursdays: Vampire Diaries / Arrow - expect this to be biggest night Fridays: reality TV (some ghost hunter/cryptid type show) / Supernatural
Hold Beauty and the Beast and Shelter in case something fails or use as summer fare. Have a cheap game show for the same reason.
"Gossip Girl" will get a 13 episode final season, with a new show replacing its time-slot in midseason.
Monday 8-Gossip Girl / Hart of Dixie 9-Hart of Dixie / Shelter
Tuesday 8-The Secret Circle 9-Arrow
Wednesday 8-America's Next Top Model 9-Cult
Thursday 8-The Vampire Diaries 9-Beauty and the Beast
Friday 8-Nikita 9-Supernatural
I think either "Beauty and the Beast" or "Cult" should be paired with "Vampire Diaries". If "Shelter" gets picked up CW should really keep "Hart of Dixie" cause those should would go well together. I'd use Supernatural or Nikita to launch "Arrow" but given that both shows are on Friday, and I can't see the CW moving them to a different night nor can I see them putting a freshmen series on Friday night either.
There is also a possibility that "90210" will be back.
Aw, this question is unfair. They haven't even cast these pilots yet. Can we come back to this in April before the upfronts?
I will say this - If I'm acting as an executive for the CW and not a fan, I don't pickup Hart of Dixie or Ringer. Both shows are very enjoyable but the network already seems dead set on renewing one ratings albatross for next season (Gossip Girl). The network can't afford another one, let alone two. Even The Secret Circle is an iffy pickup. A renewal should be dependent on the strength of their pilots and if they do pick up a second season, The CW should consider retooling the show.
Supernatural should've been cancelled after season 5's Swan Song. Now they just have to renew it until they can find the same level of appropriate and satisfying ending... and since they'll never be able to. I suggest this show to run 'til Jared & Jensen are starting to get crows feet.
monday: New girly show then gossip girl (or 90210 which ever is normally on mondays) tuesday: Hart of Dixie and new girly show thursday: vampire diaries, secret circle and nikita friday: Arrow and Supernatural
To be honest, I really only pick Supernatural and Hart of Dixie. If Klaus gets more time, Vampire Diaries. The story line is getting old fast. The rest, I guessed on.
just know that sarah*you are unhappy*I am a man in love with you for 19 years*31 years old*I'll be the USA*you marry me*You'll want it*do not forget this is my true love sarah michelle
just know that sarah*you are unhappy*I am a man in love with you for 19 years*31 years old*I'll be the USA*you marry me*You'll want it*do not forget this is my true love sarah michelle
The Vampire Diaries, Secret Circle, Hart of Dixie definitely. I heard only good things about Nikita, so that, too. Supernatural & Gossip Girl back for the final season (GG as midseason replacement, 13 episode order). That leaves room for the 5 new shows, and IMO they should be Cult, Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, The Selection and Joey Dakota (final two look like the shows that will fail unless perfectly executed, and since this is CW I am expecting hilarious failures on both fronts).
TVD, Ringer and Nikita because they are the only shows that they aren't directed at little girls. I appreciate the CW only for these shows. I would also vote Supernatural, but, now, it clears that it has a 8^ season only for fans.
I typically watch 1.5 hours of TV a week, Supernatural and The Soup so I am not TV executive material at all but I voted for Supernatural and Vampire Diaries since they seem to keep the CW afloat with viewers.
The only 2 CW shows I still watch are Vampire Diaries and Hart of Dixie, so I want those to stay. In reality, from a ratings point of view, I'd keep Vamp Diaries and Supernatural and hope the new pilots are fantastic, as all the other ratings really, really suck.
The only one I know of that's cast is Cult which has cast Alona Tal as the lead. Worth a look considering it's premise. The only two current shows I see as sure things are Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. They'll probably pick up Secret Circle since one freshman show always gets a pass and it's the only one that seems to hold any kind of viewers. Out of the rest, I'd say they pick up Arrow (it's a superhero. They want another Smallville, so yeah I can see this one going all the way) and the one that's going to cash in on the Hunger Games mythology (is that Shelter? or The Selection?) America's Top Model is probable so that leaves 3 hours yet to program. I agree they probably won't pick up Ringer or Heart of Dixie simply because of ratings and I'm guessing Nikita is a goner for the same reason. 90210 probably holds on for 1 more year and Gossip Girl maybe, but it's in the cellar with Nikita for ratings, and has already hit the magic 100 episodes, so who knows.
just know that sarah*you are unhappy*I am a man in love with you for 19 years*31 years old*I'll be the USA*you marry me*You'll want it*do not forget this is my true love sarah michelle
After The Vampire Diaries I primarilly care about Nikita. The CW Is crazy If they think another show will do better than Nikita on Friday nights.Nikita 0.5 In Demo Is similar to what some other shows get. It's the overall numbers which puts Nikita at end of the block.
If CW cancles Nikita and puts The Secret Circle on fridays next season It will be same story. They won't be doing much better.I still think chance of Nikita getting another season.Yes odds are more It will get axed but It's not 100 percent It will get axed.
With all the ads I see for ringer whenw atching the CW I am thinking they might get renewed. In past shows with more promation(save Smallville which was treated as stepchild by the CW) tend to get renewed.I bet Gossip Girl will most likely come back even If It Is only a final 13 episode season like One Tree Hill.I also have suspecion 90210 will get axed.Compared to Ringer I am starting to see almost nothing for Hart of Dixie. So don't be shocked If Hart of Dixie Is axed and Ringer renewed.
It's extremely likely that Nikita's ratings will fall next year, as that happens for 90% of the scripted shows. So putting Secret Circle on Friday, which I agree will most likely score around 0.5/0.6 each week, is still a better option than keeping Nikita as it would score below 0.5...
no it is not because you said it yourself TSC would also fall it gets 0.7 now on a friday it would get 0.5 and it is a freshman show Nikita is a 2nd year show going into a 3rd with more posibility for syndication deals.
Chris is right it wouldn't make any sense to move TSC to fridays over Nikita. And it will most like fall even lower than Nikita because it such a young viewers show it would lose more viewers on a friday than Nikita.
maybe all the shows on the CW should only have 13 episodes, to get the writers to really weed all the unnecessary filler and just make every show have sense of urgency and build up tension and have like sneak peak episodes in the summer... I guess what I am suggesting is more of something like along the lines of what ABCF, FX and USA (all in my top five non-subscription cable channels) do, it seems to work for them.
I love Ringer! SMG playing twins is amazing. Please if youre a fan than like this page. Heres the link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bring-Back-Ringer/360969780619476/

Just Cult and turn the entire network into some weird meta show
ReplyDeleteRinger, SPN, Cult, and Beauty and the Beast. I couldn't decide on others.
ReplyDeleteRINGER RINGER RINGER RINGER ! Best show of THE CW EVER :D

-90210's ratings are good enough to warrant another season esp with how close it is to syndication
-SPN's ratings are good enough to warrant another season

Supernatural & Gossip Girl back for the final season (GG as midseason replacement, 13 episode order). That leaves room for the 5 new shows, and IMO they should be Cult, Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, The Selection and Joey Dakota (final two look like the shows that will fail unless perfectly executed, and since this is CW I am expecting hilarious failures on both fronts).
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL AND ARROW

ReplyDeleteHonestly there's only 4 I would say ... Vampire Diaries, Secret Circle, Ringer, and Nikita
ReplyDeleteTVD, Ringer and Nikita because they are the only shows that they aren't directed at little girls. I appreciate the CW only for these shows. I would also vote Supernatural, but, now, it clears that it has a 8^ season only for fans.
ReplyDeleteNikita!
ReplyDeleteIf only it was on a different network!
CW's promotion sucks!
I typically watch 1.5 hours of TV a week, Supernatural and The Soup so I am not TV executive material at all but I voted for Supernatural and Vampire Diaries since they seem to keep the CW afloat with viewers.
ReplyDeletedefinitely Nikita CW's best show
ReplyDeleteThe only 2 CW shows I still watch are Vampire Diaries and Hart of Dixie, so I want those to stay. In reality, from a ratings point of view, I'd keep Vamp Diaries and Supernatural and hope the new pilots are fantastic, as all the other ratings really, really suck.
ReplyDeleteThe only one I know of that's cast is Cult which has cast Alona Tal as the lead.
ReplyDeletejust know that sarah*you are unhappy*I am a man in love with you for 19 years*31 years old*I'll be the USA*you marry me*You'll want it*do not forget this is my true love sarah michelle
ReplyDeleteWhy u all think they will have 11 shows next year?
ReplyDeleteWho in their right mind would renew Nikita ?
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about it but you guys realize it's the lowest-rated scripted show on the network, right ? Hell even it's DVR ratings suck.
Nikita! <3 TVD, SPN & TSC ofc! Don't care about the rest..
ReplyDeleteNikita is the best show the CW got. Huge international and the critics all agree it is amazing. Nikita is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteAfter The Vampire Diaries I primarilly care about Nikita. The CW Is crazy If they think another
ReplyDeleteshow will do better than Nikita on Friday nights.Nikita 0.5 In Demo Is similar to what some other shows get.
ReplyDeleteno it is not because you said it yourself TSC would also fall it gets 0.7 now on a friday it would get 0.5 and it is a freshman show Nikita is a 2nd year show going into a 3rd with more posibility for syndication deals.
ReplyDeleteChris is right it wouldn't make any sense to move TSC to fridays over Nikita. And it will most like fall even lower than Nikita because it such a young viewers show it would lose more viewers on a friday than Nikita.
I don't know about new shows, so Ringer, Nikita, Supernatural and Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries and Supernatural for sure. Don't know anything about most of listed shows.
ReplyDeletesarah, please*self and me*Take a chance*Do it for Charlotte*I'm begging you*my real love sarah michelle gellar
ReplyDeleteVampire Diaries, Supernatural and I'll give Cult a chance.
ReplyDeleteIf they Nikita gets cancelled I hope the USA network would pick it up and put it with Burn Notice
ReplyDeleteArrow is going to suck the big one, trust me, the DCU is in a horrible place right now...
ReplyDeletemaybe all the shows on the CW should only have 13 episodes, to get the writers to really weed all the unnecessary filler and just make every show have sense of urgency and build up tension and have like sneak peak episodes in the summer... I guess what I am suggesting is more of something like along the lines of what ABCF, FX and USA (all in my top five non-subscription cable channels) do, it seems to work for them.
ReplyDeleteI assume it's for reality shows that have shorter cycles and mid season starts or 13 episode "Final Seasons".
ReplyDeleteRinger
ReplyDeleteRinger, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of The Selection and Arrow.
