Showtime’s Homeland is fortifying its ranks for Season 2, promoting two recurring players to series regular status.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Navid Negahban, who plays world-renowned terrorist Abu Nazir, will be a series regular for the acclaimed drama’s sophomore run.
Additionally, a series spokesperson confirms that David Marciano has been upped to full-time cast member, meaning Carrie, aprés-shock treatment, may get some help in reassembling any “lost” memories from her right-hand snoop, Virgil.
In assaying the Showtime drama’s sucecss, Negahban told TVLine at the premiere of the indie short Blood Moon, “The [Homeland] writers and creators have been very brave to tackle a subject that everybody thinks about but nobody talks about…. At the end, it raises the question, Who is your hero? Who is your villain? And that’s what I love about the show.”
Homeland begins production on Season 2 in May, with an eye on a likely fall premiere.

Great news, I liked Marciano a lot. Happy to be seeing more of him.
ReplyDeleteGreat news!
ReplyDeleteWhat would be Homeland without Abu Nazir?
Also I like the relationship between Carrie and Virgil, I'm glad she finally have to rely on him a little more.
Yes great news I love Virgil and Abu Nazir is so intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they are "upgrading" their status on the show. Nazir was and will continue to have a pivotal roll in this story,so its great that they will be able to delve into his past, and present...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Virgil will be working with Carrie,he will give us a better understanding of Carrie, through his eyes,This will also give us another character to explore,i hope they do not limit him to just working with Carrie, out of her house or his van.His own op.center would be nice...I guess we will find out more as time passes.......
Have they given out any info on how many episodes season 2 will be?
Thats awesome that those two are being upgraded. I was really wondering how they were gonna continue the show, but now having Abu Nazir having a more prominent role u can so many directions.
ReplyDeleteThis makes sense. Marciano's scenes with Danes were always good so that particular upgrade is very welcome.
ReplyDeletegreat news. but i hope there will be less brody's family scenes
