  3. Looks like Lori got the boot. First I was indifferent to her, now I can't stand her.

  4. Oh thats interesting.... I thought the stunt casts would be playing themselves....

  6. This is going to be good, and,no Lori!!!

  7. Wow, no Lori.  I hope its not just an error.  I wish Lauren German luck on her next opportunity, nothing personal against her, the character was just not a good fit.

I see Danny's girlfriend is back, and Gracie will also make an appearance.  So not Rachel/Danny get together for now.

  9. I would just like to know why,( from the Lori supporters), when we did not like the character we became "haters".  So in other words, none of you have ever disliked a character on any show, at any time, in your life.  If you did, does that make you a hater?  Why can't it be that you liked her and we did not.

  10. Instead of flying in Hawaiian celebrities for guest spots, I wish Hawaii Five-0 would simply hire more Hawaiians for acting jobs on the show.

  11.  I'm sad she's leaving, too. I thought she was a great addition to the show. I never understand how characters can inspire hatred in some fans, though.

  12. I'm pretty sure no one called anyone here a hater, so there's no need to start this conversation. You obviously seem to be offended by something someone said, though, so here's my opinion on it.

The comments about how glad they are that she's gone aren't my cup of tea. I'd rather have a conversation about why a character is disliked than just read "good. I hated her." repeatedly, but I respect the fact that other people's opinions differ from mine and not everyone wants to have those discussions.

On other sites, though, I've seen character bashing to the point where people are writing in all caps that she needs to die. I've also seen it spill over into people bashing Lauren German for even accepting the role. There's a point where people forget how to be mature when they dislike a character. I think those people can be classified as immature, if not haters. The anonymity of the internet frankly makes it worse. People think they can say whatever they want to.

tl;dr: People who repeatedly say they hate a character/actor/musician/etc. can pretty safely be classified as haters. That doesn't mean it applies to everyone who dislikes that same character/actor/musician/etc., though.

  13. I've  heard those who got too personal with Lauren also,  I and others have said that was uncalled for, and have defended her in that respect.  Also I did not sign any petition.

But, both sides have gone nasty.  Because of a differnce of opinion, the people who have supported the Lori character have verbally attacked those who do not.  Yes we have been called vicious haters, females who don't want a woman near Steve, middle age nobody, jealous of Lauren's beauty, don't have a life, etc.

Here is the conversation which has been said hundreds of times.........Lori was suppose to be brought in to keep an eye on five-o, since that one and only time, it has never been addressed, but the new promo shows the governor saying something about it, 14 episodes later.  The writers could not make up their mind what she was going to be, was it a governor spy, love interest for McG, female McG, or an antagonist to McG.  None of which have come forward.  When a team has been through, what they had been through why would they accept someone so easily, who was not their choice in the first place.  They could have explored this.  The first 7-8 episodes she was in, it was all Lori, with the exception of Steve.   Danny, Chin, and escpecially Kono were pushed aside.  Weren't they the ones that got everyone to watch the 2nd season?  They are changing that as of the last few episodes.  It was also said that Lauren's acting was stiff and non empathetic.  This is not all Lauren's fault, the writers and producers have to take the blame as well.  So if what I have just explained to you is hatred instead of dislike, then we have a difference of opinion on the meaning of those words.  I and others don't hate.  We wanted more of the core 4, especially since it was only the 2nd season and we were still getting to know them.  Supporting casts are needed, not a fifth member of the team taking up most of the time.
They could have done so much better for Lauren and the show.  They blew it.  Move on.

  14. I may be reading tone where there is none, but please don't get after me for what other people have said. You asked for opinions, so I'd appreciate not getting attacked for sharing mine, especially because I'm not a person who attacks others for their opinions.

I'm not one of the people who yells hater at every person who dislikes a character. I have my own fair share of characters I don't like. I also don't think it's defensible for the people who like characters to call other people names. I don't think you should be called a hater by any means, but there are
people who might deserve the title out there and that should be
acknowledged (and you have the haters of the people who dislike Lori, out there, too).  I wasn't trying to tell you you deserved the title at
    all.

I think your explanation has some good points, but I don't totally agree. I don't think it's unlikely that they wouldn't accept her, though. In a job where you have to rely on your co-workers to protect you, you don't want to alienate one of those people. Whether they liked it or not, Lori was there and she wasn't going away anytime soon so they needed to trust her so they knew she had their backs.  I've had some experience with that situation, so that's where my opinion on that comes from. As for the first few episodes she was in, I've been re-watching recently and not all of it was predominantly Lori. When it was, though, it was because she was a new character. If you never focus on a new character, how can the audience get to know him/her?

Her characterization was not the best, but I have seen worse on television. In a real situation, you would indeed have co-workers coming and going, so I thought it was a good choice in that respect. I thought that she worked well with the other characters, and did add a few interesting elements to the team.

  15. I'm doing a happy dance...no Lori!!

  16. I agree.  But some of the fans didn't feel comfortable a lot of hatred happened when people started saying she could be a possible "love interest" for Steve in the show and also the way she acted at the S2 premiere (which I had no fricking clue about) was a bit over the top they say.

But I just don't understand she was shy and nervous at the start but she got better towards the end

  17. Look, I'm not going to go back and forth.  You believe what you believe and I believe what I believe.  I was not attacking you, sorry it sounded to you that I was.  Lets just agree to disagree and hope that something like this does not come up again.  Enjoy the rest of the season.

  18. Read my reply to klutz_girl it says it all there.

I have to agree there was soo much hate for her.  And it went way too far fans were posting petitions posting to Lenkov on Twitter and sending letters to CBS to get rid of her saying she didn't fit into the show she didn't play her character very well at all and the whole "possible love interest" with Steve also was the cause of the problem.  I hate it as well and the people that do it don't call themselves as fans.  Also I did hear it wasn't going to be a permament position in the first place she was only going to be in a couple of episodes as far as I know

  19. CBS has said 80% of the guest actors or extras are Hawaiian so I have no idea what you are saying there

    ReplyDelete
  20. Off-topic let's get back to the episode shall we

Looks like some old faves are back wahoo Duke, Mamo I love Al Harrington good to see him back.  A bit of trivia if you didn't know Al was in the original also and Dennis Chun who plays Duke is related to the person who played Chin-Ho in the original

    ReplyDelete
  21.  Most of that 80% are extras and I'm not talking about extras.  Anyone can stand in the background and fill up space.  I'm talking about actual actors.

  22.  My issue with some folks reaction is that while people list a bunch of things about how the character was introduced or played or whatever, the calls from the first episode weren't to improve the writing for the character.  They were to call her names like "Barbie" and "Bimbo" and to attack the actress if she dared posted pics of herself with other cast mates.

As far as not "hating" the name calling and calls for the character to die spoke for themselves.

  23.  Then why are the majority of speaking roles white people?
