Finally. And not just about Dair. It is high time Dan tells everybody else what he wants. Years of doing everything Serena asked, then Blair, and as much as he helped Chuck out this season and now Chuck is looking to mess with him? I'm so looking forward to Dan finally saying what he wants and trying to make it happen. He's more than earned his shot. Bad timing with the prenup and all, I grant you, but still. Way to be, Lonely Boy!
Mostly mad at the writers and Blair. She runs always with Chuck, wont tell Louis she wont leave because of Chuck,Asks Gods help for Chuck and tells Chuck she loves him more and more every day. ONLY to have her kiss Dan in CHUCKS room??!!! I am not mad at Dan and Blair, I am mad that the writers make NO SENSE.
I actually kinda agree about the Chuck's room part. That was unnecessary. Couldn't they had them kiss in Nate's room? And the God pact was stupid. I'm definitely glad that Dair is on and Louis is no longer a romantic interest, but I have to say there had to have been a better way than that stupid God pact thing.
I love God, so I dont mind asking God for help. :O) My point was after all she has done and pulled thru for and with Chuck..I guess it felt belittling. I am actually surprised Dan and Blair fans were alright with this and the fact of where they are taking Dans character. I feel as fans no matter what ship your on need to send a wake up call to the writers, we want quality not quantity!
Part of the reason I don't buy this Dair stuff, or like Dan at all, is because his relationship with Serena was an endless supply of self-righteous speeches about how she was messing up and not living up to his standard. He was Brandon Walsh/Dawson Leery 2.0, "the good guy" who was actually a self-righteous prat, and the writers gave him an endless pass on it while "punishing" the better characters for their evil deeds at every turn.
Now because Safran feels like it, and with no character development whatsoever to justify it, he's the "good friend" who's all zen about Blair's self-involved, destructive personality, and it doesn't track. It's like they arbitrarily decided to scrap everything and start over with that character.
This show is not only bad right now, it's absolute garbage. Quality actors is the only thing keeping this show from being 90210/Secret Life of the American Teenager terrible.
I really hate what they have done to Chuck's character. He is pretty much a love sick fool who's sole purpose on the show has become to chase Blair season after season. I really wish they would give him some development that has nothing to do with Blair.
I think there's a difference between asking God for help and thinking that God's going to run down your ex with a taxi if you don't hold up some sort of twisted bargain you made with him. I mean, that's both cruel and strangely proactive. Not to mention, a high level of belief from a girl that doesn't exactly spend a whole lot of time praying. And as far as quality, I think that what she's been through with Chuck is part of why she should be with Dan, but that is a matter of opinion and personal perspective. I do think that the transition from Dan to Chuck was rather rushed and could've been done better, and that in general GG could be doing better right now, but I'm not going to complain about Dair in general because it is one of the few things I like about the show now. Again, matter of opinion.
I'm really curious to see if this is really going to be a) a relationship b) healthy and c) happy. At least when Georgina tells Blair that Dan has sent the video to GossipGirl about Blair confessing her love To Chuckles and so ruining her wedding, she'Ll hate him. Wanna bet?
Why you guys seem to forget Chuck also happened to help Dan ? He was the first character that had the guts to tell Dan that he was in love with Blair. I think it's natural and human Chuck is now upset with Dan, besides, in the scene of the promo Dan is in Chuck's house. It looks like he also wants to fight, as the GoT poster said, War is coming. Definitely.
BTW, when i said War i mean between the characters and not the fandom. Really, the writers will probably screw up with all of them (Dan didn't tell Blair he was the one who sent the video). All we can do is pray.
i hate love traingles/squares whatever. why do those writers believe that this is actually something fans would like to see for more than just two eps??? i really don't get it. what is wrong with happy couples? or sl that do not include any couple related topics? its pretty obvious that dair won't last for long, if they will ever be a real couple of course. they will mess around with them like they did with derena, chair, serenate, nair (this could go on for a while)... can we at least have some cherena to make all couple possibilties complete?
no wonder the ratings suck with this lack of good writing abilities.
Speaking as a Chuck/Blair fan, I can't deny that Blair has a connection with Dan - they're actually really compatible, once Blair got over the fact that she thought he was "beneath" her. I'm curious to see where the writers take it. And I'm so glad Dan's finally sticking up for himself - it only took 5 seasons.
First, yes, that was a good moment for Chuck. But they were already friends then. Dan saw Chuck in trouble, and did everything he could to help him in spite of their history, and more importantly, Chuck's history with Dan's sister. Not to mention Dan got insulted by Chuck several times and punched by one of his lackeys for his efforts. And after helping Chuck to feel again, Dan set him up with Blair in spite of the fact that Dan was in love with her himself.
None of which means Chuck can't be upset. It doesn't even mean he can't be mad at Dan; as Dan's sort of friend, he has a right to be. What he doesn't have the right to do is to actively go after Dan in revenge. Try to win Blair back? Absolutely. Try to stop Dan from getting her by messing with Dan in some way, like the promo suggests? That's where he'd be going too far. I just hope he realizes that and pulls back, because I'm actually liking reformed Chuck so far. I don't want him (and by him, I mean the writers) to mess that up.
I like how it is ok for Dan to try to ruin Blair's wedding by sending out a video of her saying she's in love with Chuck. But it's not ok for Chuck to do anything to stop Dan from getting Blair. Double standard. If it's ok for Dan to mess with Blair's love life (and blame Chuck), then it's ok for Chuck to "mess" with her love life. Just saying.
Um. What? How has Dan messed with Blair's love life? Besides the video, which he hasn't had a chance to explain yet, all he's done is try to convince her to be with Chuck since it'll make her happy, right up until the last episode.
I mean, I don't want to get in another Dan vs. Chuck debate here, but I really, really don't know what you're talking about.
We see things in a different way. I don't like most of Dan's actions this season. I think it's strange how Blair is deciding these... crazy stuff, about the pact with God, the wedding, the runaway and Dan is just accepting all of this. It's so out of character because Serena did stupid mistakes in the past and Dan judge her, but suddenly he's ok with a pact with God ? That makes no sense.
A real friend is the one that stop you from doing something stupid, it's the one who tells you the truth. I think this is strange, i don't know if the writers will explain to us why they're acting out of character but they already said Blair is not acting like herself.
But for now, I see it as he's doing this so he can get together with her. And I think it's a little selfish, since he's not thinking about Blair's happiness but his own happiness. But maybe there is another explanation on "Why Dan is not acting like Dan when he's with Blair ?" and vice-verse. But i'm almost sure there's some reason behind that, i just wish the writers will explain :/
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Finally. And not just about Dair. It is high time Dan tells everybody else what he wants. ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. Respecting opinions is definitely something that's getting rarer and rarer in this fandom, so that's highly appreciated.

Very good points. I agree. Chuck could use a story arc that is separate from Blair.
