FOX has extended the run of newcomer "Alcatraz" by two weeks while "House" will sit out the month of March.
Said moves, which won't affect the previously announced debut of "Touch" on March 19, were confirmed to the site exclusively this evening.
FOX previously planned to wrap "Alcatraz" on March 12 using two-hour installments starting February 27. The network will instead let "Alcatraz" continue weekly through March 26, bumping "House" for the month. The veteran drama will then return on April 2, with originals for the rest of the season.

Aw, damn. By the title, I had assumed they ordered more episodes. They're just stretching out the schedule with the episodes they already have.
ReplyDeleteI think they also changed Touch's lead-in.
ReplyDeleteAww I was hoping for more episodes as well but I think its better them stretching it out rather than burning of episodes
ReplyDeletei think this sounds good for alctraz's fate. it's probably going to come down to alcatraz or terra nova, and alcatraz is cheaper to produce from what i understand. too bad, i like both shows!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic! I was under the impression there were only 12 Alcatraz episodes, but this confirms there are 13.
ReplyDeleteYeah I read it the same way... ack!
ReplyDeleteConfusing title. Also expected that they ordered a few more episodes.
ReplyDeleteIt's still great news. Means that the ratings are good enough that they're not rushing it of the air. It would seem that odds of either a season two or a back nine or improved.
ReplyDeleteI think a back 9 is out of the questions since it was a mid-season start.... but I agree it think it bodes well for a Season 2!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, but I dream.
ReplyDeleteYes, I too thought they had ordered more episodes! However the fact that they are spreading them out is a good thing as I always saw the burning off of episodes as suggesting that Fox didn;t have much faith in the show and so were getting it over and done with as quickly as the good. If they are now spreading it out then I can only assume it's because they think it's worth doing so. That must sit well for it's renewal chances (and yes, I do realise it's still a bit early to be thinking about those!)
ReplyDeleteGood for Alcatraz but does not sound good for House
ReplyDeleteThis sounds good. I think?
ReplyDeleteHa, you'll be surprised, but in fact this schedule means that Alcatraz have 11 episodes.
ReplyDeleteFEB 6 - 27, episodes 1x05-1x08
MARCH 5 - special episode, recap,
MARCH 12-26, episodes 1x09-1x11. 1x11 is the one-hour season finale...
I wish Touch was Alcatraz's lead-in. It did get the American Idol treatment after all...
ReplyDeleteA recap, are you sure? It says back-to-back episodes (meaning two new ones) and Wikipedia also lists 13 episodes according to the above schedule:

I also was hoping we got more episodes...
ReplyDeleteoops, you're right. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteA lot of people are of the opinion that House has run its course.
ReplyDeleteYa I stop watching myself after ending to last season.
ReplyDeleteIt least we know Alcatraz will get a full season next year.
