Alex Kingston has hinted that River Song could return to Doctor Who.

The actress, who will appear in the new series of Upstairs Downstairs, told talkshow host Graham Norton that she may resume her Who role.

"You may see her again. Who knows?" she teased. "Let's just say, Upstairs Downstairs and Doctor Who don't film at the same time."

  1. Ugh. I never really cared for her character.

  2. I hope she comes back, she so great and if Amy and Rory are leaving I feel like their daughter would be around especially if something bad happens to them :(

  3. I'd certainly like to see her continue to pop up from time to time.  We certainly haven't seen all the adventures she's mentioned from the Doctor's future and her past.
And if something bad does happen to Rory and Amy...  Well, I know we've had hints of a tear-jerker, but if it's seriously tragic I'm going to be more than a little miffed at Moffat!

  4. I love River. She might have been a bit annoying now and then, but still... she's awesome LOL I really hope they find a way to get her out of the library and give her a "real" ending.

  5. I hope that Moffat is just teasing us by saying they have a tragic ending and it will end up being a happy one instead....I hope!

  6. Aww. I was hoping Upstairs Downstairs would mean the end of her.  I like Alex Kingston fine, but was never a fan of Moffat's darling love child.  It's like Moffat is one of those great great aunts who carries around an obnoxious vicious toy poodle called Snookums or Muffin everywhere and has more pictures of the poodle lying about the house than their own children, and River Song is that poodle.

  7. I didn't think there was a possibility of her not coming back, until at least Amy and Rory are written out, and even then she could hang around for a while.

  10. YeY. I love River. I stopped watching DW for a while and I started watching it again last season. I fell instantly in love with her character. I´m glad to see she´ll be coming back, because even though her story sort of had been completed, there could be so much more still, IMO.

  11. I like River, but not as much as most people do.I could swear it was a sure thing she'd appear next season.I'd be okay with that, but not too much. The whole point of DW is that there isn't anything that stays the same.

  12. I do like River but was getting kinda fed up with her by the end of the last series. It would be nice to see her for Rory and Amy's departure though.

  13. I'll be very surprised if she is not coming back in season 7. I think it's pretty certain we'll see her again soon.
