Gillian Jacobs has just tweeted a link to an article written by The Hulk. Did you know he's a fan of Community ? He's even more badass now. Hulk actually makes some very good points. Also, he can throw dozens of tanks on the Rockerfeller Plaza, so NBC executives might want to pay attention to his remarks.
Here is his open letter. Hulk brilliantly points out that whether NBC chooses to greenlight a fourth (and final ?) season at Greendale community college is not all that's at stake here. The fate of Community on NBC is also linked to the notions of confidence and trust towards the Peacock network, and to the survival of the "NBC comedy" brand :

Man Hulk sure likes to abuse the capslock button but he is so right about Community and culture and the importance of that
ReplyDeleteHULK SMASH PUNY NBC!
ReplyDeleteRead it all. Loved it! Lots of great points and I hope that someone at NBC takes note of some of these things. Here's hoping for a great return for Season 3 and the renewal of a 4th season of the show!
ReplyDeleteMe like awesome Hulk letter to annoying nbc executives... lol good letter with excellent points
ReplyDeleteI hope that NBC does pay attention to this...but I guess that they will still be on the hunt for 'better' ratings with so-so shows instead of a great show like Community that doesn't get the best of ratings but it has a loyal audience
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning I was smiling a little about the Hulk's style, but he is so right about Community, culture and networks generally speaking and about NBC especially...Lots of great points and I hope NBC will read this carefully.
ReplyDeleteI hope such a great show like Community will have a fourth season to end brilliantly at least!
And I look forward to the return DATE of the season three!
Get past the caps lock and look at the content. And while you're at it, look at Film Crit Hulk's other posts regarding screenwriting, his favourite movies (Putney Swope!) and other information related to film theory (never hate a movie).
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that's fantastic haha.. it's good to see so much support for Community all over the place - come on, NBC.. bring it back!
ReplyDeleteLOL Bunky Bunk this had to be you!
ReplyDeleteLoved the article! So true...
ReplyDeleteI watched both Arrested Development and Firefly, and Fox cut both those shows short, which left me more than annoyed. I watched the 1st season of Fringe, but since Fox have been considering canceling the show, I haven't watched since. I'd rather not invest in a show that is likely to get canceled. I think I'll wait for the final season to be announced or get it all on bluray.
The NBC thursday night is an excellent brand, with top quality comedies (except for when Shitney came into it, and Prime Suspect awkwardly sitting at the end). Please NBC, keep your "generic CBS multi-camera sitcoms night" for Wednesday, and great comedy shows on Thursday. Up All Night is a great addition, and let's get Community back on the air please!
To be fair, NBC have serviced the fans before. I never thought Chuck would last as long as it did. As the fans, we need to make sure that when Community comes back, it comes back with a ratings bang!
