A win for Canada this week, I think. I like that they just focused on the next scene after the cliff hanger, really playing up the drama of that one moment. Can't wait to see this one conclude!
oh wow. I suspected they'd make the cut after the car-drowning-scene, nevertheless, I was still shocked to watch it play out xD And now this promo focusing on the exact scene just makes it so much more intense and the waiting so much harder than it already is. Great job!
Such different promos this week - I love that this one focused on the "Will they make it out alive?" aspect (not that we ever REALLY have any doubt) instead of ignoring it like ABC's.
I think I agree - it showed just how big the global implications of the situation are. But at least this one paid tribute to the cliffhanger of the last episode.
I can't agree with you here. The focus of this promo is way too narrow. The upcoming episode isn't about being trapped in that car. That will only be the opening scene. A good promo should give someone a solid idea of what the episode will be about and the CTV promo doesn't come close to doing that.
Fair enough, but the first episode of the two-parter had already given us a good idea of the major themes and plot line. To me, the intensity of that one scene in the Canadian promo gave us a great feel for what the episode would be like, without ruining the fun of the cliff-hanger. Even granting that not a soul watching actually thought Castle and Beckett would die, showing them high and dry out of the Hudson and carrying on with their routine really takes something away from the wonderful "what happens next?" scenario at the end of "Pandora." The Canadian promo suggests there _could_ still be uncertainty, and keeps the tension strong. The US Promo says, "and by the way, Castle and Beckett are fine, the cliff-hanger means nothing, but look at the action and gun fire!"
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Whaa, can't wait for next week!!

ReplyDeletethe ABC promo plays into the scale of the catastrophe that they are trying to stop. Very tightly edited and intense. That's good too..

ReplyDeleteDidn't like this promo - we know they survive.
