As some of you may or may not know we've been working on a great little feature that we hope you'll really enjoy and find useful.
It's the SpoilerTV Plus Dashboard.
Before we get into the details I would just like to say a few words of thanks to our lead Developer, Tharshan , who has done this all in his spare time and at zero cost. I owe him a massive debt of thanks as well as a large quantity of beer.
I'd also like to thank Jason another developer who has just come on board to help with the future development of this.
And lastly to all the Beta testers who have helped shape the product and as well as finding the bugs!
So what is SpoilerTV Plus Dashboard?
Basically it's a complete frontend for all SpoilerTV users to customise their SpoilerTV experience. This does NOT replace the existing SpoilerTV.com site, this is like an added extra. Some of the key features are:
- Customisable Show Favourites to display just the information you want.
- Comprehensive Episode Database from over 280 shows
- The Episode Database will have future episodes titles for a large number of shows before any other site.
- Calendar Features to see when your shows are on
- Quick access to Promotional Photos, Promos, Sneak Peeks and Press Releases.
- Popular Shows and Network Charts
- Highly Configurable with more configuration options coming.
This is just the first release of the system and there are likely to be some issues. If you have any questions, suggestions, bugs etc please use the Feedback from here.
Or in the comments below, or by emailing me directly.
All the above links can be easily found on the STVPlus dashboard.
As mentioned this is just the first of several releases we have planned for STVPlus and new releases will have new features and functionality.
Some of the things we hope to include are: Support for Multiple Sneak Peeks, Ratings Statistics, Improved Calendar, Article Sorting, User Submission Forms, Email Alerts, Browser Notifications, Colour Themes, Mobile Support, as well as any ideas you come up with.
This is all brought to you free of charge thanks to the awesome developers, helpers and the SpoilerTV team who help populate this data for you.
Also been a beta of this and my favourite feature is the upcoming episodes, seeing as the silly breaks they often have are hard to follow it's really handy.
This is a cool new feature that I think a lot of people will like. It really streamlines everything and the show filters make it even more useful. It's not going to work for me though. Everything was hunky dory until I clicked the button to my favorites and it said I could only choose 40. I had 96. I watch too much TV for this feature. :)
Lol, I had the same 'problem'. Not quite as many as you (and I am now incredibly impressed with how much TV you watch), but enough (58). I'm very excited though. Wish I had had the time to beta.
I'm incredibly pleased with the upcoming episode list. I wasn't sure what to expect when I had heard it described (it sounded amazing), but I LOVE the interface.
Also, loving the charts. I was surprised to see ABC was my number 1 network. I thought that, since LOST at least, my love had shifted to NBC. Guess not.
This is exactly the feature I was hoping for. I can select the shows I want news on, which makes looking for new articles way easier than selected each show one after another. And I love the upcoming episodes option with sneek peaks, promos and pictures just one click away. And last but not least, the calendar option. The calendar I'm using atm is not really reliable and I was hoping for SpoilerTV to include a feature like that at some point. And that it's still showing all shows doesn't bother me too much. What's important is that it's only showing new episodes and not repeats. Long story short, amazing feature! Thanks for creating this for us users!
I've read the Help document again and the only thing I can find about the calendar is what I found before already: "We’ve recently added a much sort after feature, that of a Calendar. Currently it shows ALL shows for that day and not just your favourites. We hope to allow for an option where you can see just your favourites."
So unless I've missed something, it doesn't seem possible to only show selected shows for the calendar so far, but please point out if I've missed something (which is not impossible *g*)
Been playing, come on guys, I can not just stay at the computer all day. lol Anyway until I can put more than 40 shows as favorites, will have to leave the calendar showing everything. Do like it is not showing repeats.
Awesomeness! Barney Stinson would like it :) I had one idea, that the calendar should show favourites only, but I see it's already done... i'm really impressed :)
I really loved this feature when I saw it.. but unfortunately cannot use it because of the 40 shows limit. =/ I currently watch 59 shows, and there are also more 65 new non-aired shows that I intend to watch (at least the pilot) and would like to keep up with... Really looking forward to the limit increase! :) Also, it would be nice if we could see the season and episode number at the calendar. Thanks.
Oh good idea about the calendar! How did we miss that? Will be implemented soon. Glad you like the dashboard, and the issue of the limit is in the works.
Andy i seem to be having a problem logging into the dashboard.I'm listed as guest, and when i try logging in with Twitter it pops up but it says i'm already following,no place in there to log in?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I've been using this for a couple of weeks and it's very very cool. It's now my homepage on Chrome!

ReplyDeleteWe're limiting it to 40 currently to ensure there are no performance issues. We may look to increase this limit later.

Hey Varjot,
ReplyDeleteGreat feedback.
As for the calendar, there is an Option to only show your Favourties in the Calendar.
Check the Help documents to see how.
If you have trouble just drop me an email or leave a reply here.
I've read the Help document again and the only thing I can find about the calendar is what I found before already:

Ah sorry, looks like I need to update the help doc :)
ReplyDeleteIf you go to your Options page there should be a setting.
