Just to let you all know that today we've rolled out an update to the Badgeville Points system. This is based on 6 months of data since we've been running the system here and as a results we've tweaked the points that you get for performing various actions. You can see the point rewards in the image. You now get more points for
- Being the first to Facebook Like a Post
- More points for Google+1 on a post
- More points for playing a video.
- Performing actions in the Movies section.

Thanks for the update. If the goal of this whole points system was to get people to play more...resounding success. I've even started hitting the tweet button...as I sssslllloooowwwwllllyyyy mosey toward 10000 points. (something i NEVER thought would happen!) I've come to grips with the fact that I'll never be one of those people who gets 9,000 points in a week.
ReplyDeleteHa, yes, it's proved very successful so far :)
ReplyDeleteThe main idea behind it is to give a little back to you guys and girls for helping share our content with your friends etc gives us more exposure and tries to help us compete with the big boys live TV Guide, E!Online, EW etc.
Thanks for this update. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteOh yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Good news!
ReplyDeleteWOW,Very nice,thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks :D for me personally it has been really fun and changed the way that I view SpoilerTV. I used to be those who were on it every day but never commented or did anything besides read the spoilers
ReplyDeleteThanks im not sure the badges are working right anybody else having issues
ReplyDeleteHi Jimi, drop me an email if you're having problems and we'll try to get you up and running
ReplyDeleteI've had a glitch for a while, actually, and it doesn't seem to have changed with the update: a few months ago I had a period of a couple weeks when nothing I did was registering points. Then, when it suddenly started working again, the points listed under "My Rewards" tab in "Community" jumped up to where it should have been. The tab at the top of the page, on the other hand, never caught up. So currently, I've got 1,338 at the top of the page, and 1,825 under "My Rewards." Not important, just perplexing.
ReplyDeleteI've also been wondering: can anyone tell me how to change my username? I've been "Unknown User" since I started doing the whole badges thing, and can't work out how to fix it!
(All that aside, thanks for doing the updates! The new system looks great.)
cool beans, I guess Google+ is the going thing now
ReplyDeleteHa yes, until the next "thing" comes along :)
ReplyDeleteI'm torn on Badgeville. I think it's a great idea to award people for getting SpoilerTV's name out there on Google+, Facebook, and Twitter, but I wish that commenting were not a part of it. Since Badgeville there have been a rash of "thanks" comments and the like to scroll through in order to get to an actual conversation. It's especially apparent when people get extra points for being the first to comment so almost every first post is whatever is the shortest to type and people post it before they have had time to even read or watch what is on the thread. It seems like the conversations were deeper and more interactive before people were getting points every time they hit post. Now I question if half the comments are from people who actually watch the show or have read the information that was posted.
ReplyDeleteHey Dahne,
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, we'll be addressing this shortly. This is just the first of a few changes we'll be making over the upcoming weeks
I actually prefer Google to everything else, I have been using the android OS since the day it came out, Buzz was questionable but Google+ has stepped up the social networking game, I have never really been a big fan of twitter or facebook (and before that myspace). I am almost certain that whatever the "next big thing" is, Google will find a way to one up it
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteI hate reading: "Thanks!" "Interesting..." "Can't wait!" all the time (although I'm not as irritated by can't wait)
Great stuff. And certainly, you can tell I have been involved in the site more. It's sort of fun to browse and click and chat. So thanks for the push! There's a great community here. I'm not a big forum user. There's only a few I frequent. And all but one are picture sharing boards. So the main site has been a nice thing for me to get involved in my small way.
ReplyDeleteThanks jenny and thanks for the kind comments. And thanks for your support of the gallery
ReplyDeleteThanks! You've got a great site here with a great community. I appreciate how you constantly evolve it to see what will make the site better and more usable. Your hard work really pays off. 1.5 years into SpoilerTV and it's still my favorite for TV news.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of, a left a comment on the post but maybe you didn't see it. I uploaded HQ upgrades for Chuck stills 5X11. And there's a couple for Chuck 5x10 as well. Sorry for the off-topic. :P
ReplyDeleteThanks, that's very kind. It's a lot of work but also a lot of fun. It's always a constantly moving target as the site gets busier etc to make sure we don't lose focus on certain principles and standards we want to maintain
ReplyDeleteAh cool.
ReplyDeleteJenni, it's normally best to email me, we get 1000's of comments a day on the site and I simply don't have time to check them all :)
Cheers for the photos. I'll try to get to them later tonight when I get back home
this has occurred to me. :P I'll shoot one next time.
ReplyDeleteCool beans :)
ReplyDeleteYay, this is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! :)
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity. How are the video points calculated if there's more than one video on a page? Just once for playing on that page or once for each video? Apologies if I missed the question elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check but I believe you get points for each video.
