True Blood - Season 5 - Casting News - Christopher Heyerdahl Cast in Recurring Role

Jan 18, 2012

Christopher Heyerdahl, who plays an ancient vampire in the Twilight Saga movies, will now play one in another screen adaptation of a popular book series, this time on TV. Heyerdahl is joining HBO’s hit vampire drama True Blood in a recurring role. He will portray Dieter Braun, an ancient, powerful vampire who plays a large part in the intelligence of the Authority and especially enjoys enhanced interrogation. That is familiar territory for Sanctuary alum Heyerdahl who played the ancient Volturi vampire Marcus in 3 of the Twilight movies: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and the upcoming Part 2. Additionally, he played a demon in an arc on the CW’s Supernatural. Heyerdahl, repped by Open Entertainment’s Lesa Kirk, currently co-stars on the AMC drama series Hell On Wheels, playing Norwegian badass The Swede. The period Western was recently renewed for a second season.

  1. Damn, really need to catch up on True Blood. Like Heyerdahl ever since Hell on Wheels, he was terrific as the Swede.

  3. Thanks! So he will play a character half the Swede, half Marcus! In the True Blood world it sounds very interesting!

  7. Please don't tell me The Swede will not be in HoW next season.:(

  8.  Will he not be back next season on HoW?

  9. It's possible to do an HBO series and another show since both are 12 or 13 episodes and could film at different times.

I have not read anything about Season 2 of Hell on Wheels yet so I'm not sure. Frankly burn victims in the old West did not have a great recovery rate since infection was VERY common. The Swede looked about as well as could be expected in his last scene, but still....

I hope he'll back too, but without knowing what direction Season 2 takes.... No clue.

  10. Seriously!

I honestly do not mind new characters since each season is a new mystery, but kill off some old ones already! At least just write them off....

  11.  Oh no,i didn't get to see the finale,i think its on this Sat.The Swede gets burned, that's depressing,i really like him....
Yeah, after i commented HBO finally dawn on me,and i realized he could do both.I kept thinking it was 22 episodes, not the 12 for HBO...

  13. IKR? The show is too bloated. If they want to introduce more they need to off some old ones or something.

  15. Heyerdahl as Dieter, not a bad choice.

    C.H. is EVERYwhere -

    Alastair on Supernatural
    JorEl on Smallville
    Marcus in Twilight
Jack the Ripper/John & Big Guy/Bigfoot on Sanctuary
The Swed on Hell on Wheels

Now Dieter on True Blood...... give the man some kudos
    He's a Hell of a character actor!

  16. "especially enjoys enhanced interrogation"...sounds alot like ole Alistair...Love CH, but the show really needs to start killing off characters as the cast is sooooo top heavy. I was glad that Tara met her maker, but then was bummed to hear that she was being brought back in some capacity...
