That cannot be so much time, about 4 Weeks. Cause then he has to be in Rome for the JIB Con. Jared has 12 Conventions this year, and then to start season 8. LOL
Well, I think that we will have Misha since it is rumored that he is coming back for three episodes and well there has been talk about getting Jim back in some way....
My opinion? It won't be much different then the episodes that we've already seen...really it has been heavily Dean centric most of the season. I mean, Jared was at the CW's TCA panel yesterday while Jensen had to work...I think that it says something about their work load...
I'm glad they're giving him some time for the baby, instead of those 12 hour days. But it'll be interesting to see what storyline is written to cover the situation.
Filming usually wraps up in mid-March so I doubt that Sam/Jared is going to be absent from any episodes. That would be incredibly bad writing. You don't just write one character out of commission for a short time. I believe that since they've been working extra long and hard lately, they're pushing to get done before Gen has her baby. I also believe that, given the spoiler from yesterday, Jared's "work load" is lessened right now because of what happens with his story line this season. Which is probably why he was able to attend the TCA panel. That, and given that this season is much like last season, where Sam's story thus far was wrapped up to move on, in the sense that season 7 is really Dean-centric. They're exploring his issues and logic dictates that Sam has taken a back burner much like Dean did last season. I think that's why he's going to be able to take time off. I just hope Gen does well and they have a perfect baby boy to share with the world! So happy for them!
Actually, filming will wrap in early April because they are filming one episode extra. I just hope that we will get to see Sam in the (season) finale. Anyway, I'm happy for Jared and Gen :)
No I dont think so one episode maybe but he will be there for the finale nobody has said anything about 4 weeks just a small amount of time in March. I doubt we will see much difference to be honest considering how they have been writing Sam since season 4 .
Okay when there will be again less Samtime in the show he can have his Babytime, but otherwise he simply has no time! The Baby is ready in March, for SPN he has normaly to work until the middle or end of April. And right after that he has to attend the JIB Con in Rome. The Rome Convention already moved the termin to one week later, because otherwhise Jared couldn´t come! So when does he wants to have the time?! And he is guest on 12 Conventions!! this year, a part here in Europe. He is going to become a Dad and does more Conventions then Jensen!
You know taking time for a Baby means to me, real time, not just a day then and there.
Fair play, I say! Good luck to him and Gen! :) I'd probably be happy if this season ended with a couple of angry solo Dean episodes lol. I mean, come on, it'd be better than what we've seen already this season.
What difference does it make this season has been so Dean centri it is like it is going out of fashion. If the show told Sams story with a begining middle and end and not leave it to the last ew episodes then Sam being there or less of Sam wouldnt make a difference. Jared has every right to spend some time with his little one and hopefully they would of filmed has many scenes with Sam has possible and most of the episodes will be in the can anyway .
I hope they pre record Jared scenes because I know I wont watch the episodes without him in. That probably makes me a bad fan but it is what it is, he is my reason for watching as is the brothers relationship. I just dont want to watch episodes with little or no Sam.
I'm disappointed at how this season has been organised. Logically as soon as Jared told the writers about the baby they should have cracked on with his storyline. But instead they've gone Dean centric for the entire season.
I hope they go Sam centric for a lot of season 8.
Also my theory on how they write him out is that Dean will have to leave Sam at a mental institute or he will end up in a coma.
I don't think so. I think filming usually ends in March so he'll either maybe miss one and they'll set up a time for him to act in scenes for the other episodes or do it for all of them. The writers aren't that bad, they're not going to let him miss 3 episodes. That's too much. Even if he plays a smaller role in any of the episodes that will be filming during his time off, it's better than nothing.
He deserves to have time off to be with his family. Can't blame the writers for that one.
I'm kind a little pissed now at the number of crappy filler episodes and the Amy mess they've chosen to do instead of actually writing Sam's story. I mean do we really need a time travel episode? They could have done that at the end of the season when Jared was unavailable.
I agree with you so much. I don't care that it makes me a bad fan. I understand all the hype around Jensen but seriously? Dean annoys me terribly at times and lately it has become all the time...I just don't like how he is written
With the baby's arrival sometime in March, this is totally understandable. He and Gen must be so excited getting close to the big day! Has anyone seen any pictures of her pregnant? Let's keep our fingers crossed for a season 8 because I think things are looking good for it to come our way!
To be fair, the Amy mess was before Jared and Gen found out about the baby. As for the other stuff, the writers have a plan and are sticking to it. Sam's story is going to really come in at episode 15 it seems. They're filming or have already filmed that one.
I agree with your whole post. I am delighted that Jared will be taking off in March to spend as much time with Gen and their baby moose (prior to filming the season finale and an unknown number eps prior that because the only info fans have in their baby's due in March).
I, too, hope the show stocks up on JP's film coverage for as many episodes as possible, but I am expecting the barest minimum of "Sam" from at least 7.19, maybe 7.20 on. The show has known approximately about their baby's due date so if were SG and writers I wouldn't necessarily plan to write 7.16 -7.19 "Sam -lite" - I would write them slightly Sam -heavier except for MC return in 7.17 (I'd like to think the writers wouldn't intentionally go back to writing Sam-lighter episodes starting with 7.16.) I expect there's an Sam story line exit strategy already in place for episodes filming mid to late February in case their baby is "early".
To me whether I watch any Sam-less entire episodes - as this info (wisely) doesn't yet mention a specific episode number when JP goes "on leave" - that would be a major spoiler in itself - will depend on how the show handles/explains "Sam's absence", Your ideas of mental institute or coma are good. In addition I like "kidnapped by Levis" or even "Sam tells Dean that he needs to go 'walkabout' for short time to regain his mental stability to be of any use to Dean as brother or hunting partner".
If the show - not necessarily just some fans putting on their spin on Sam's absence - has Sam stomp off (again) in an unsympathetic and perceived as selfish/self -centered, huff - I will choose not to watch live (I will still record and get Amazon VOD dls) and catch up before S8. I could care less about MC's return.
Congrats to Jared Padalecki. I hope he enjoys his time with his wife and child; that's much more important than a few "Supernatural" episodes. The show will still be there when he returns.
we're currently unsure about episode 16 as Sam centric, 14 though it has been spoiled about Sam's childhood fears we could have equal amount of Dean and his childhood fears too. This one may not actually be Sam centric. 15 sees the return of the hallucinations but Jared also had some time off for this one while Jensen filmed so it could also pretty much go either way. They may have filmed all Jared and Marks scenes first then Jensen's smaller scenes after or it could be an equal split between the brothers or it could be Dean centric as first rumoured with a smaller role for Sam which they decided to film first to fit Mark's schedule. At this point we just dont know but I'd wager there are no outright Sam centric episodes this season well not ones that aren't also heavily Dean focused too. The Cas episode is said to be pretty Dean heavy too.
I'll believe that when I see it. In Dean-centric episodes, Sam is hardly on screen. In Sam-centric episodes, Dean or Cas has just as much a role as Sam.
Heres a nice little spoiler for all those Sam fans-
IGN: I assume it's safe to say we'll be seeing more of Lucifer, or at least what Sam imagines to be Lucifer, in the near future? Singer: Yeah, quite a bit, actually. We love Mark Pellegrino. He's just great. And yeah, he's a real yakker now in Sam's head, which causes the boys a lot of discomfort.
I wish I could "like" your post more than once. If Dean forgives Cas, it will totally ruin the character of Dean for me. I hope that MC comes back as a Levi monster.
Theres a rumour going around that Dean's hook up in episode 13 will turn out to be a hunter and will return later in the season. Dean's new partner? Or will it be Garth?
I guess after this season Dean fans wont be able to complain about how season 6 was all about Sam given how season 7 has been all about Dean. Though that doesn't mean they wont anyway. I think season 7 has been the most one brother centric of all the seasons.
Oh God I hope Lydia is not a Dean Winchester with skirts. For once, i'd like the writers to have balls and getting Dean to bang up a monster like, so it could give some good lines for Sam to tease him about it. if she is a hunter, we are getting a sap goodbye scene.
All I can say about that is: The JIB in Rome switched the Con to the last week of April, because of the shedule from Jensen and Jared. They told that the eventmangeres that they still have to work around that time. Last year it was no problem but this year the show has 23 episodes. Also Jared did fly to the TCA´s right after work, and the next day he went straight back to work. I was stunned about that, too. But I read it on Twitter an Facebook, cause Jared said that to the Paparazzi who catched him on the airport. Jared has all the right in the world for taking time with his family, but I wonder when he wanna take it. There is no time, right after shooting the Conventions are starting, and he will do 12 this summerbreak. And I am a bit scared that in the end it will be too much for him. I love that guy, and I wanna see him happy. Not burned out and tired.
The only people who seem to be complaining are so-called "Sam girls." The same way "Dean girls" were complaining over the summer over episodes that hadn't aired either. It would be nice if everyone would watch the episodes before deciding to complain about the show or their fangroup counterpart. No wonder there are so many fan wars in this fandom.
I find it hypocritical that "Sam girls" who are complaining themselves are complaining about "Dean girls" complaining. In fact, it would be nice if we could institute a one week no-complaining pact throughout the entire Supernatural community. Of course then the entire internet would keel over dead because there would be nothing left for Supernatural fans to talk about. How incredibly sad is that.
All I know is both Garth and Frank will be coming back. It's not at all that I have any objection to them both having screen time that would be normally "Sam's" to give JP extra time off per episode to rest more and be with Gen through the final weeks of her pregnancy; my objection that all the bonding scenes between these characters are to Dean; indeed most characters this season save Jody Mills in tonight's episode are "bonded" with only Dean.Sam needs support, too - he's not a robot.
LOL I agree with you completely. Even though it might seem otherwise given my "complaining" :P In the end, I know that the writers will do whatever they want and I shouldn't care and try to enjoy the ride while it is still going.
I'd love that and that scenario would be in line with Sam's breaking down completely (finally) - trapped in his mind. It would also work with limited "film sets" - either a new "panic room" or mental ward where Sam has to be temporarily confined. The show could film multiple scenes with JP and with a few days or less of MP's time and then insert them into episodes as needed.
It's probably not what the show had in mind but I'd take confinement over anything that makes Sam look worse to fans. Where did you find the quote?
Exactly. When Sam has a "Sam-centric" ep, we still get tons of Dean POV, Dean's reactions to what Sam is dealing with or going through, Dean playing the hero, side-plots with Dean, etc. When Dean has a Dean-centric ep, they tie Sam up in a corner somewhere (Adventures in Babysitting), put him in a coma, or send him off to research and he becomes plot wallpaper. So we can (and often do) have Dean without Sam, but pretty much never have Sam without Dean. Dean seems to have become the gravitational center of the show - everything else just orbits around him, which means that no other character ever gets to really have the sole focus like he does. It's getting really old, and I can only hope that at some point Sam at least gets PART of an ep or two to focus on his issues.
Solution to the problem-film all Jensen solo scenes and guest scenes etc while Jared is out then when he returns have him film all his scenes solo and otherwise. There will be enough time to put the episodes together before they air even if air dates have to be pushed back a little its not going to really matter I mean SPN finished late last season. They could just double up on episodes for a few weeks after Nikita is done?
Last season Jared didnt have much to do in 2 or the last 3 episodes anyway, at least one of those eps is likely to be Cas centric and one Dean centric so the impact shouldnt be too much. He could be back to film a Sam centric season finale?
Hopefully they get alot of the Sam story out there over the next lot of episodes then they'll be less pressure on Jared to return too quickly.
Interesting how people can have entirely different perspectives on the same thing. :) For me it'd ruin Dean's character for me if he DIDN'T forgive Cas. He forgave his brother Sam for choosing a demon over him and starting the apocalypse. He told Cas he thought of him like a brother, so why wouldn't he forgive him if he could forgive one brother? Like Sam, Cas had very good intentions for what he did. He was trying to stop Raphael from starting the apocalypse again, and Sam believed by killing Lilith, he'd prevent Lucifer from being unleashed. I see both Sam and Cas as having similar stories, and so I don't see why Cas would be less worthy of being forgiven than Sam was.
Agree on this, Dean was ready to forgive Cas and Cas had said he would fix Sam, but did not have the juice right then. But this does need to be worked out and Sam is the one that should have the final say on this, after all he is the one injured. Cas told Dean he was sorry and I think he truly was.
Oh you mean the Apocalypse Heaven orchestrated and that Castiel and the Angels were intentionally trying to start and that Sam was intentionally trying to stop? Don't scapegoat Sam for being a victim and pawn in all of this just like Dean was and unknowingly breaking the last seal like Dean unknowing broke the first seal. Both brothers were lied to and manipulated and ,broken by the powers of both Heaven and hell to fit the roles Heaven wanted them to play. There were 66 seals Dean broke the first and Sam the last. Both boys were played ,not Sam alone. Castiel was Deans Ruby in every sense of the word in S 4 with a season full of facts to back that up. And just because Kripke decided to scapegat sam alone and give Castile apass for a season worth of crimes against humanity and brotherhood in S 4 because he jumped teams at the last moment in the season 4 finaler doesn't mean it didn;t happen. The facts are the facts. And I'm not even going to justify the absurdity of putting Sam in the same catagory of what Castiel did
I am going to defend Cas..a little, he was lied to also, by the Angels higher up. Do I think he was right to do what he did, NO. I like the idea of you saying Cas was Deans Ruby, can not disagree with that. I do think that Sam got the worse of the deal and not much was said about Dean breaking the first seal. If that had not happened then we would not have had much of a season 4 & 5. lol
Yeah, the SPN group has known about Gen's due date for a long time now, plenty of time to plan around time off for Jared, which I'm sure they've been figuring how to work with. I dont suspect we'll have any Sam-less episodes, even if it means extending the shooting dates just a tad longer than normal. Of course you never know about them darn babies, they don't always pop out when they're supposed to! LOL!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Completely understandable, but this still sucks. Hopefully he doesn't miss too much!
ReplyDeleteThey should be near wrapping Season 7 by March. They ended filming around then last year, too.
ReplyDeletewell i guess is going to be more Dean focused then XD?
ReplyDeleteTotally understandable, I had assumed as much. I wish him and Gen all the joys of being new parents! :)
ReplyDeleteIf season 8 will happen (Sorry, *when* it happens) I vote for a guest-appearance by their baby :P
ReplyDeleteOf course he's taking a little time off. Only natural. And yay, S8......
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised :) It is understandable...
ReplyDeleteIt would seem so...
ReplyDeleteSuper thrilled for Jared and Gen. Hope Jared tweets the fans plenty. Best and most exciting thing to happen this season.
ReplyDeleteThat cannot be so much time, about 4 Weeks. Cause then he has to be in Rome for the JIB Con. Jared has 12 Conventions this year, and then to start season 8. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's bad that we are not going to have Castiel or Bobby in those eps... Only Dean XD i guess
ReplyDeleteI think he'll be out for the last 2/3 episodes.

ReplyDeleteHopefully they'll film Jared's scenes for the finale before scheduled filming if he's still on break at the time.
ReplyDeleteThat's my thoughts too.
ReplyDeleteOf course we understand that;) Wish this beautiful couple and their baby all the happiness in the world.
ReplyDeleteJust a little sad, cause even though I LOVE Dean-centric episodes I love it MOST when they're TOGETHER:) So come back soon Jared;)
With the baby's arrival sometime in March, this is totally understandable. He and Gen must be so excited getting close to the big day! Has anyone seen any pictures of her pregnant? Let's keep our fingers crossed for a season 8 because I think things are looking good for it to come our way!

Well 7.14, 7.15 and 7.16 are Sam focused. Then Castiel comes back...
ReplyDeleteHe is not going to take the whole month, maybe two weeks... what's that ? one ep and a half or less?
ReplyDeleteYeah i know that but Misha is going to be till 20? And people here are saying that in March they are filming the last episodes.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't say that he was going to take the four weeks....
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jared Padalecki. I hope he enjoys his time with his wife and child; that's much more important than a few "Supernatural" episodes. The show will still be there when he returns.
ReplyDeletewow, only 43 comments, I was afraid to look but everyone seems calm, good. I hope he enjoys the time with his wife & baby.
ReplyDeletegonna be missing jared, sam but totally understand, hope he returns soon!
ReplyDeleteThe ratings are certainly good enough
ReplyDeleteI wanted to see a tiny Gen with her baby bump, she must be pretty big by now?
ReplyDeletehave been filming, Jared had some time off but he did mention that MP has been filming this past week

I soooo agree. I've learned not to hope for an actual episode that totally focuses on Sam the way we have the ones that focus on Dean.
ReplyDeleteHeres a nice little spoiler for all those Sam fans-

ReplyDeleteNecessary and understandable. So, who do I have to bribe to get Meg to fill in for Sam while he's gone?
ReplyDeleteGood luck Jared
ReplyDeleteStock up on the caffeine Jensen
no thanks
ReplyDeleteTheres a rumour going around that Dean's hook up in episode 13 will turn out to be a hunter and will return later in the season. Dean's new partner? Or will it be Garth?
Hopefully neither. Both of those options are atrocious to me.
ReplyDeleteI guess after this season Dean fans wont be able to complain about how season 6 was all about Sam given how season 7 has been all about Dean. Though that doesn't mean they wont anyway. I think season 7 has been the most one brother centric of all the seasons.
ReplyDeleteI say why don't do some random magic thing and bring Colin Ford to fill in for Sam, It would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable. Will be such an exciting and sleepless time for him!
ReplyDeleteOh God I hope Lydia is not a Dean Winchester with skirts. For once, i'd like the writers to have balls and getting Dean to bang up a monster like, so it could give some good lines for Sam to tease him about it. if she is a hunter, we are getting a sap goodbye scene.
ReplyDeleteThey can do the same Jeffrey Dean Morgan did in S2 finale. Film the Sam scenes after the episodes are filmed.

ReplyDeleteI think jared needs alittle time off he works his cute little ass off for us he needs the time with Gen and the baby.
ReplyDeleteyeah it's pretty ironic that people were complaining how this season was going to be too much Sam focused.
ReplyDeleteI find it hypocritical that "Sam girls" who are complaining themselves are complaining about "Dean girls" complaining. In fact, it would be nice if we could institute a one week no-complaining pact throughout the entire Supernatural community. Of course then the entire internet would keel over dead because there would be nothing left for Supernatural fans to talk about. How incredibly sad is that.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see...in my eyes there are no Sam focused episodes...they're about the boys' relationship and Dean angsting about Sam
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more to this...I mean if they are filming those episodes now then how come Jared had time off if it is supposedly Sam focused?!?
ReplyDeleteAll I know is both Garth and Frank will be coming back.
ReplyDeleteLOL I agree with you completely. Even though it might seem otherwise given my "complaining" :P In the end, I know that the writers will do whatever they want and I shouldn't care and try to enjoy the ride while it is still going.
ReplyDeleteI'd love that and that scenario would be in line with Sam's breaking down completely (finally) - trapped in his mind. It would also work with limited "film sets" - either a new "panic room" or mental ward where Sam has to be temporarily confined. The show could film multiple scenes with JP and with a few days or less of MP's time and then insert them into episodes as needed.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably not what the show had in mind but I'd take confinement over anything that makes Sam look worse to fans.
ReplyDeleteSo thrilled for Jared and Gen, hope all the best for them!
ReplyDeletewould be cool but it would depend on Colin's schedule, that kid is always busy making movies
ReplyDeletethewinchesterfamilybusiness had a link to Robert Singer's interview.
ReplyDeleteIsnt Dean angry and solo most of the time this season anyway?
ReplyDeleteSolution to the problem-film all Jensen solo scenes and guest scenes etc while Jared is out then when he returns have him film all his scenes solo and otherwise. There will be enough time to put the episodes together before they air even if air dates have to be pushed back a little its not going to really matter I mean SPN finished late last season. They could just double up on episodes for a few weeks after Nikita is done?
ReplyDeleteLast season Jared didnt have much to do in 2 or the last 3 episodes anyway, at least one of those eps is likely to be Cas centric and one Dean centric so the impact shouldnt be too much. He could be back to film a Sam centric season finale?
Hopefully they get alot of the Sam story out there over the next lot of episodes then they'll be less pressure on Jared to return too quickly.
tiny baby and giant Jared=too damned adorable
ReplyDeleteAgree on this, Dean was ready to forgive Cas and Cas had said he would fix Sam, but did not have the juice right then. But this does need to be worked out and Sam is the one that should have the final say on this, after all he is the one injured. Cas told Dean he was sorry and I think he truly was.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteOh you mean the Apocalypse Heaven orchestrated and that Castiel and the Angels were intentionally trying to start and that Sam was intentionally trying to stop?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not even going to justify the absurdity of putting Sam in the same catagory of what Castiel did
I am going to defend Cas..a little, he was lied to also, by the Angels higher up. Do I think he was right to do what he did, NO. I like the idea of you saying Cas was Deans Ruby, can not disagree with that. I do think that Sam got the worse of the deal and not much was said about Dean breaking the first seal. If that had not happened then we would not have had much of a season 4 & 5. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, the SPN group has known about Gen's due date for a long time now, plenty of time to plan around time off for Jared, which I'm sure they've been figuring how to work with. I dont suspect we'll have any Sam-less episodes, even if it means extending the shooting dates just a tad longer than normal. Of course you never know about them darn babies, they don't always pop out when they're supposed to! LOL!
ReplyDeleteTotally understanable (amd somewhat expected)!
ReplyDeleteI hope he enjoys the time with his family :D
Awww new baby!!
ReplyDeleteGoing to miss Sammy though ... and I wonder how they'll work that in!
And yes! Season 8 ..... come CW!!
congrats man
