Another cliffhanger ending seemed to be the most important piece of information out of that to me. Resurrections and returning characters are common enough in Supernatural that that news isn't terribly surprising, but that the writers are expecting to continue to a Season 8? I just hope it doesn't suffer the same missteps as Seasons 6 and 7.
This is definitely news I needed to hear. I have absolutely no doubt that there will be a season 8, especially hot off their PCA double win!
I'm so glad that Cas is coming back, but are they just going to kill him all over again? It was painful enough the first time, I won't survive a second time!!
I just hope the cliffhanger isn't too bad this time around.
"A very different kind of Castiel" and bringing his story to a "conclusion" and giving us "closure" just tells me we won't get our beloved angel back, or if we do, it won't be for long until they give us our "closure" by giving him a sendoff like they did Bobby in "Death's Door". This show loves killing off characters, and it especially loves killing off Castiel, so I don't have much hope for any other conclusion. I'll be deliriously happy to be proven wrong though. Thank you Singer for not telling us a bit more than Gamble was willing though. I appreciate having the time to grieve and not getting my hopes up for a happier outcome.
If they bring Cas back just to "redeem" (by redeem I mean kill) him I will think long and hard about watching Supernatural if they come back for an 8th season. I love Supernatural, I truly love the show, the characters, the dynamics, I have loved it since the first season. The reason I would contemplate not seeing the next season wouldnt be due to them simply killing Castiel (although I would be heartbroken the show was good before Collins, and I was a fan long before he came on) I would stop watching because the writers doing this would be in complete disregard for the fans, for the quality we are entitled to in writing having given them our investment, and our passion. They cant bring back a beloved character for three episodes just to blatantly assassinate him both literally and in characterization. So if thats the closure they want to give us, I might close the door on my weekly devotion to supernatural...I hope it doesnt come to that.
I'm at a loss to understand the return of Collins on the show if it's not as Castiel. What's the use?
The only thing I can think of is that we get an arc where he is reunited with his original Novak family, but it would just seem an invention on to give the actor some screen time.
In any case, whatever happens I will always be loyal to the show, as it has given me so many hours of pleasure and even if I am not in agreement with every decision of the writers, I will never stop watching it, and I will accompany Sam and Dean to the bitter end.
A cliff hanger for the end of the season? Guess they are exopecting an 8th season. I love Supernatural, and I will watch episodes as long as they make them, but I am now is probably the time when they should think start thinking about an exit strategy and planning for the series to end properly... maybe at the end of series 8?
I'm officially confused.. The only theory I can come up with is that we'll see Cas as a human who doesn't remember anything.Maybe Dean's dilemma is whether to involve him in their lives again. I'm not gonna read anything into the closure/conclusion thing. It could mean a million different things, from his involvement with the Leviathans to his relationship with the Winchesters.
Personally,I don't see them bringing them back just so they can kill him off for good. Also,we all know what "for good" means on this show!
We'll just have to wait and see!Really excited in any case!
If the show still gets viewers, if the fans still support it, (as the recent PCA win amply demonstrates), if the actors and writers are still enthusiastic about their work, I don't understand why they should close up shop.
To replace it with what?
The majority of new shows that are aired don't have a great success, so why should a steady show be sacrificed for a new one whose success is uncertain. Look at Secret Circle, Terra Nova, and many others that have aired which haven't been so well received by the public.
So Castiel gets 3 episode arc? wow I wish Sam got those. The only thing I want to see Cas do is pull up his breeches walk over to Sam and say sorry Sam for what I did to you not to Dean but you. And Dean soul searching again like that is new.
What he did to Sam, bringing down his wall like that, was really heartless and totally unnecessary, as he could just have transported them all to Australia or whatever, if he wanted them out of the way!
my first thoughts were that this all comes back to the Amy storyline, Cas will be the one Dean cant put down (Dean's Amy) so will Sam have to be the one to do it?
"Don't get cocky, kid!" Season 8 ending on a cliffhanger without any word on a renewal? I know they just won the PCAs, but I'd hate to see a show unfinished. I am now thinking that the Leviathans will still be around for next season, which is good to hear!
As for Castiel, either he's now human, or he's against the brothers. I don't see how they'll be "concluding" his story, but I can't wait to find out.
I thought the same thing - it's pretty much impossible for there to be anything left of Jimmy, and it's pretty clear he won't be back as the Castiel they know.. that'll be so hard for Dean, trying to reconcile his feelings and frustrations for his old "friend" with a new person wearing the same face.
I don't think I could survive him being killed off again, either :( I love Misha, and apparently so do they, so here's hoping they'll let him live so there's a chance to bring him back again someday!
That's definitely worst-case scenario for me.. I don't want their version of "closure" to consist of bringing him back so they can hash out all their feelings about what happened during season 6 and the beginning of 7, only to kill him more definitely. That just seems cruel
I dont see how Cas coming as human not remembering anything would present Dean with a moral dilema in the way unless he was in danger which well why would he be, he is no longer a threat.
Dean would leave Cas to his new life surely?
The whole moral dilema for Dean things suggests something more like whether to kill him or not, if Cas is now monster/evil/bad guy/threat then he'll need to be put down according to Dean's own rules of morality. This would tie in very nicely with the whole Amy plot.
It would also tie in with the Sam storyline too, he's going to become more unhinged according to SG but I imagine he will hold on for some time yet, killing Cas could tip the scales and/or killing Cas and then having Dean reat to it badly may be the tipping of the scales. How would Sam cope without his stone number one?
That's a good question..I've been thinking it since he "died" in episode 2.
Just to be clear,I love the character and I want him back as himself. That being said,it would be cool to see him as a bad guy(Leviathan maybe?).Misha was so good and creepy in the last scene of episode 1,just imagine what he could do in an entire episode.
So,maybe a combination of the above.First he appears as a Leviathan(possibly the boss)and later Sam and Dean figure out that he's possessed, that Cas is still alive. That has been my theory since episode 2.I admit,as we move further into the season,it seems less and less possible, but I can still dream.. ; )
If I could choose only one,I'd go with redemption.Seeing him as a bad guy would be great, but seeing his relationship with the brothers restored would be better.
Its not like the show is in danger. The show is doing the 3rd best ratings of the CW, something, like this week, doing the same number than TSC, and all taht while being on friday. Unless J&J, or one of them, want it out, it would be very surprising if the show get cancel
Honestly, I'll take what I can get. I think Misha's fantastic, and seeing him get taken over by the Leviathans showed how fantastically unhinged he could be.. he has a lot of range and a ton of potential, so I hope they'll utilize him in a way that could be revisited again at some point - I REALLY just don't want them to bring him back with the express purpose of "finding closure" and killing him for good this time.
That being said, I loved Castiel (before he went all cocky and got a God complex), so I wouldn't mind getting him back that way either.
Neither. I don't think Cas needs "redemption" just because his point of view on which was worse - Purgatory souls or the Apocalypse - was different than Dean's. I would like to see him try to make up to what he did to Sam, Balthazar, and some other people less central to the plot, such as those he killed as God. But he's not the first character to have hurt people in trying to do what he thought was best, and I don't think his crimes require his life to be sacrificed. What I would have liked is for Cas to have fallen into the category of occasional guests who aren't all good and aren't all bad - in the company of of Crowley, Death, Balthazar, and others who walk a moral tightrope - and who aren't afraid to have a different point of view than Dean.
After the season 5 finale I started to wonder if they'd kill him in every finale, lol. It was almost a tradition! Then they had to make him get all crazy in the season 6 finale inside and kill him in episode 2 of season 7. Sigh.
Well, if they bring Castiel back just to kill him properly...at least it's a three episode send off!!!! That just prove once and for all that he's an important character.
I think my theory might prove right. Castiel is different in the sense that he's some twisted, mutated angel/leviathan thing and Dean must decided whether to kill him or perhaps try to save him, if it's possible. Or I could be wrong and its something else entirely.
Below I read that Castiel might be Dean's Amy, and I really really like that idea.
I think the cliffhanger will have to do with Sam and him going completely insane.
And to really piss off fans, Sam will be the next bad guy and Castiel and Dean join forces to bring him back XD Or not lol. I love not knowing what's gonna happen. This is Supernatural at its best.
It would suck if that happened only cause if they bring Cas back it should be in some form where he doesn't have to die. 3 times, 4 with Future!Cas has been done. 5 deaths is just stupid.
Redeemed for sure. I predict most Cas fans even people who just like him, would probably say the same. Those who only liked Misha playing characters other than Cas will say differently or want to see him killed again.
"And to really piss off fans, Sam will be the next bad guy and Castiel and Dean join forces to bring him back XD Or not lol." If I was evil, I'd like this. lol

All I can think is Cas going to be human?

ReplyDeleteI'm used to cliffhangers. They do it almost every year, on this show and any other show. It would be news to me if it wasn't a cliffy.
