  2. I love the special episodes like Monster Movie so I think I'm going to really like this one.  Looks action packed and interesting.

  3. Agreed.  That's a promo that demands a rewatch.  Or 10.

  4. Ummmmm.... sorry I forgot what I was going to say.......
    Oh yeah, that's right: AWESOME!!!!

  5. I don't know. I know I should be excited about this episode. It doesn't look bad, but where is Sam? I feel like I'm asking for the moon. I don't like the brothers being separated.  I wish I could get excited for this episode, but it's just another epic-Dean adventure with Dean-heavy follow-up. And I don't hate Dean, but I'm so starved for Sam, it's making getting excited over more Dean stuff more and more difficult. Why can't we just have one episode centered on Sam doing something excited and interesting instead of getting captured or meeting an "old friend?" But from the way things look most of this episode is the 1940s (which should be the right thing to focus on, but since there has been so much Dean stuff and more Dean to come, then I would like a balance now) and not much worth showing on the present front. I can't help but wonder if the show is focusing so much on Dean because they think he'll bring in better rating or something. I hope it's not true, but I can't just accept the fact that the show is told from Dean's point of view get use to it.

I really hope there is a strong firm reason it's Dean going back instead of Jensen looks better in a suit and Dean can make pop culture jokes. It looks like they did a good job with costumes and I'm sure Jensen will do a wonderful job. Hopefully, it will be a good episode, even if I don't like it.

  6. Is there an actual story or purpose to this episode or is it just Dean being used as eye candy and I'm suppossed to flail my arms in excitement because of a costume change?

  7. I agree with you 1000 percent. I'm afraid this is going to be another The End, an episode I rarely rewatch because of the lack of Sam. Sigh... I just have no enthusiasm for this episode.

  8. Very, very cool. :)

  9. I do agree that that was a very creative, exciting promo. Both promos look really exciting, and JA as Dean looks stunning in 40's apparel, plus he looks like he's having a heck of great time  :).

But that's Dean. Where is Sam? At this rate Sam better be fighting "his old friend", Lucifer ('guest star' Mark Pelligrino) in his "grapefruit" and working with Jody Mills to get Dean back for their storylines to even be close to parity in excitement value and we had better get a Sam centric sneak peek soon and not late Friday just before the episode airs like last week. As a Sam Fan who wants to fall back in love with Dean, I'm completely "meh" over the episode description and this promo/the other promo are doing the opposite. They are like rubbing salt into open cuts and show zero acknowledgement that there even is another Winchester brother. Maybe we will get an exciting Sammy sneak peek within the next few days and I will love this episode after all and this "rant" ;)  might be embarrassing. Can other fans appreciate why some BiBros and Sam Fans are up in arms and ready to explode? This is essentially a rhetorical question and it's not my intention to put you on the spot to have an easy answer as I really respect your posts  and I hope your not offended by this comment.

  10. yeah, for Dean, I guess, sighs and hopes Friday hurries up and gets here

  11. I was really, really hoping to avoid this conversation but since this is addressed to me I feel obligated to respond.  Please know that I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings.  I am simply stating my own.  I understand why "Sam fans" are upset.  I really do.  I've been in this fandom long enough that I remember the seasons when "Dean fans" were complaining that the promos only showed Sam and that Dean was getting shafted.  I've heard the same complaints from both sides throughout the years, so yes, I understand the frustration.  But I have also followed Supernatural long enough to know that the promos usually only highlight the main thing that the CW thinks will attract new eyeballs.  It never shows the whole story and it certainly doesn't mean that because someone isn't in the promo that they don't have something worthwhile to do in the episode.  Of all the things that frustrate me about this fandom, it's jumping the gun and getting upset about an episode before it even airs.  I am sometimes guilty of this too so I'm not  taking myself out of that comment.  I'm nervous about Castiel's return to be honest and the promo will probably have me riled up.  However, it won't make me not watch the episode like I've heard some fans say and I certainly won't be trashing the episode before it airs.  I'm not saying you are doing this but there are a lot of people who are.  Quite frankly, I don't think it makes the fandom look good and it's disappointing because this fandom can do such great things together.

However, for me, the main reason why I didn't want to get into this is because this is all we have heard for the last 3 days on SpoilerTV, and honestly for much of the season.  Even a name change turned into people complaining that Sam doesn't have a plot line anymore and we get name changes on Supernatural all the time - it doesn't mean anything.  Quite frankly, having this discussion every single time Supernatural has a thread on SpoilerTV is making people not want to come here.  I've heard multiple people say that they weren't returning for a few weeks until things calm down because the discussion threads were harming their enjoyment of the show.  I understand that everyone has the right to give their opinion.  SpoilerTV accepts all opinions and the community has always been a great one because of that.  However, I am saddened that by always having the same conversation every time we are going to miss out on some great new conversations.  In fact, I have been looking at other sites to go to myself.  (Yes, I know that will make some people very happy.)  It's also why I decided not to post my recap of Adventures in Babysitting on this site.  See, I understand that people have different opinions and tastes and things they want to see on Supernatural.  However, all the hate for Sera and the misery about the show is bringing me down.  My love for Supernatural deserves more than that.  So while I am not going to avoid SpoilerTV for the next few weeks, I am going to avoid the comments that frustrate me.  And I'll take my in-depth conversations to a site where people are more balanced about the rest of the season.  I'm never going to love everything about a Supernatural season, but I'm not going to miss out on the anticipation and my excitement because of it.  In the end, I am not offended by your post and I hope you are not offended by mine.  We are both in different places about Supernatural right now and I guess we both just need to do what is best for us.

  12. LOL at this... people were complaining there wasn't a Dean arc this season... Irony....

the last season was all Sam and now is more Dean, so i would say is even.

Besides Mark Pellegrino is going to return in 7.15.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm hoping Robbie Thompson can repeat what he did in Slash Fiction.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Agreed.  We went from 0.5 seconds of Sam to none.  I'm so tired of the lack of Sam in this season.  They're not even TRYING to pretend to have a balanced plot anymore.  They used to at least throw in an occasional ep that was SUPPOSED to be about Sam (even though most of the time Dean still got the primary POV or emotional development).  But now it's "Dean-centric ep (AIB), followed by another Dean-centric ep (this one), followed by ANOTHER apparently Dean-centric ep (the one where he as a one-night stand that takes an unusual turn), and meanwhile Sam might as well not even be on the show.  Seriously, the guest actors are getting more screen time, dialog, and development than Sam at this point.  This last ep Frank and the little girl (can't remember her name) both had more growth, screen time, dialog, interaction with Dean, and exploration than Sam did.

I said all that and more in my own separate post, and I don't want to just rant and repeat myself, so I'll just say I agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Very well said. I really feel bad for the remaining fans who just want to enjoy the show in peace. Maybe my corner of the net is different to yours but I can't get away from the Dean-Sam argument.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Agreed.  Slash Fiction was my favorite episode so far this season.  I have high hopes that this one will follow the same formula.  Lots of humor, great action, and progress on the mytharc.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree with everything you've said. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to be here.  I've been part of the community here for about 18 months now and it used to be there might be occasional threads where things got out of hand. Now it's everywhere.
Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but so much of what I'm seeing here is endless repetitive negativity. Fine. Say what you don't like. Then move on. Maybe occasionally throw in something you really DO like. It doesn't hurt. I always try to just ignore when things people say upset me, but it's getting harder and harder.I learned the hard way a long time ago: negativity breeds negativity.  It sucks the enjoyment out of anything. And I'm fairly sure Andy didn't create SpoilerTV to focus solely on the negative. I don't suppose anyone will care one way or the other whether I hang around here, but if this keeps up, I'm gone.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Negativity does indeed breed negativity.  I think we are seeing a spiral of it right now and I'm not sure if anyone is feeling better because of it.  Hopefully someone is or it's a shame the entire way around and not just from this side.  But please be sure that I care whether you hang around or not.  I'm just glad we have other outlets for discussion because not hearing your opinions on an episode would make the experience incomplete for me and it just wouldn't be the same Supernatural without you.  I love how Supernatural and SpoilerTV have brought me some of my greatest friends I've never actually met.  I hope others get to experience that too.

  19. I care very much what happens to Dean Winchester, so I will be watching this episode.
It is possible to want more for Sam's story, which I very much do, and still care about what happens to Dean.

I think it will be a great episode, in spite of Sam not being in just a promo, and you'll miss out on it. I'll especially be interested in seeing another Robbie Thompson episode, because Slash Fiction was great, and I hope he can do it again. I thought his characterizations for Sam and Dean were better than most of the writers.

  20. The promo looks great!
I know some people don't like time-travel episodes, but I love them as it gives us a chance to see the guys adapting to an environment which isn't their usual one.

I think they're not letting us see Sam in the promo maybe because this old friend that he meets up with is truly a surprise, and they want to keep it under wraps for the moment.

I was just musing about Dean and Ness working together. Wouldn't it solve a lot of their practical problems if the Winchesters were made legit. in their normal world.

Perhaps they could save some big government guy or the vce-president of the FBI etc. from a ghost problem, who in thanks would set them up with regular ID's, maybe even a wage and an apartment somewhere for a home base.
Sort of an undercover supernatural team. They wouldn't have day to day money problems and could concentrate on hunting full time.

  21. UNF. Can't wait for Friday. Gonna be the best birthday ever. ;)

  22. I'm sorry that you feel this way. I used be the same but now I've gotten to the sad stage where I've accepted it. Show is what it has become and while in some ways it has evolved, in others it has severely devolved.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think this episode looks fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That was very well done - and it really gelled with the theme of the episode.  Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can't say no to more Mark Pellegrino!  Though poor Sam.. that can't mean anything good for him.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It sounds to me like the boys (and by that I most likely mean Dean) piss off the God of Time (Jason Dohring!) who sends Dean back to the 1940s, while Sam tries to clean up the mess in the present.  That being said, I'm actually looking forward to the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I feel the same way - just because Sam isn't getting as much screen time doesn't mean I'm going to boycott the episode.  I'm one of those silly people that doesn't side with EITHER brother - I care about what's going on with both of them, so I'm accepting that Sam's story has been put on hold for now, for whatever reason.  I'm sure it'll switch back, but what I'm REALLY hoping for is that it goes back to being about BOTH of them - that way the show can get back to what I loved about it in the first place, and things will get a bit more friendly around here.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hadn't considered that - maybe they really are just trying to keep the "old friend" a secret for as long as they possibly can.  There's been a lot of speculation that Sheriff Mills comes back, but I don't know that we've seen it in writing - so maybe they're just trying to cling to one little twist.

  29. oooh, happy birthday to YOU!

  30. Are those Sams beautiful hands moving the hands of that clock?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well it had better be a old fan favorite to keep it this secret :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm also very grateful to both Supernatural and SpoilerTV for bringing me such amazing friends :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, Jodi seems too recent to be considered an old friend.
Truly, Sam has never had that many, at least that we've seen, so other than Sarah or Lindsey, no-one else really comes to mind.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can't think of anyone and honestly it is more likely that it is a new person for us.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I hear everything you say and I understand completely. I have always loved both brothers, but the constant Dean point-of-view has gotten tiresome. I would be happy to know half as much about Sam's feelings & struggles as we know about Dean's.

Just who is prone to chick flick moments? Certainly not Sam, like Dean always says. If it were truly Sam, then we would know a lot more about him than we do now.

I'll still watch the episode cause I watch every episode and I'll hope that there will be balance. It's just that I've started to hope a little less, and at the end of the shows I'm actually feeling a little sad for Sam, Sam fans, Sam & Dean fans, and even Jared.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm fairly sure I spoted Atropos in a red dress.... ;D

    ReplyDelete
  37. LOL yeah, for the character who's supposed to be the "emo" chick-flick one, Sam sure doesn't express a lot of emotion does he?  If Jared were not such a good actor and able to communicate so much with just his face, it would be even worse.  At least we can have a few non-verbal hints at what's going on below the surface even if they don't write him meaningful dialog.  I want to watch it, but I know it'll just make me so frustrated that I find myself almost dreading it.  So I'm going to wait a day and listen to some of the feedback from other fans, that way I can prepare myself and save myself the useless hope that Sam will have a story that means anything.  At least if I know going into it that he's a side character for the ep (again) I won't waste my time hoping.  And if I'm wrong (though I'm not holding my breath on that one...) then I can go into it knowing that I have something to look forward to.

What's really furstrating is that I LOVE the 40's/50's.  In real life I dress mostly in "roackabilly" or "psychobilly" style - I wear a lot of circle skirts, use pin-curls in my hair, wear fascinators and pencil skirts and pin-up style clothes.  My whole apt is furnished in mid-century furniture and style.  I ADORE the style of that era.  Part of me wants to watch JUST for the scenery and style, so I'm sure I'll watch it at some point in the next week - I just want to know what to expect re: Sam's story so that I don't hope for something that won't be delivered and end up even more frustrated than I already am. :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. I care about both brothers too, though I lean more towards Sam because I identify with him more.  The problem is that it's not just that his story has been put on hold "for now", it's that his POV has been steadily declining for several seasons and even when he DOES have a story arc, we still get FAR more Dean POV than Sam POV.  I would have NO problem if this were simply an issue of focusing on Dean for a while, then switching and having it be BALANCED.  But with Sam we're always promised POV and focus and it's almost never delivered.  So it's hard to be hopeful that we'll actually GET that resolution for his story right now, and the last few eps and next few eps seem to be almost TOTALLY focused Dean and Sam doesn't have anything to do.  Even if the PLOT was on Dean but we had some Sam POV about what Dean was going through, or what Sam thought about the events, I would be fine with that.  But Sam just fades into the background and they seem to be writing excuses to get him off-screen or out of the way, like he's an impediment to the story rather than a part of it.  THAT'S what's so frustrating to me at least.  One-shot guest characters are getting more dialog, action, exploration, and (most importantly) time with Dean than Sam is.

I agree that I want the focus to be on BOTH of them, and for them to stop splitting up for god's sake.  But I also want Sam to have a chance to get some growth and exploration.  Dean's character is constantly evolving and growing, and Sam has just been... stagnant. Despite all the potential for change and growth his story has right now.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'll watch it eventually, I just want to know going into it what I can expect for Sam though that if he's relegated to wallpaper or plot device again I know ahead of time and can avoid hoping for something that won't happen.  If I go into it hoping for the 100th time that MAYBE Sam will have a meaningful story, scene, moment, etc and I'm let down AGAIN, I'll end the ep feeling pissed off and frustrated and wondering why I ever hoped to begin with.  I don't want to deal with that, so I'm just going to skip it, read some fan reactions to see what to expect as far as Sam's POV goes, and watch it after being able to prepare myself to be disappointed (or, less likely, knowing that I have at least a scene or moment to look forward to).

  40. Word to your entire post. If we don't something even mildly exciting about Sam soon, I'll do as you do and wait (I DVR each episode as well get Amazon VOD DL's so I'm not "boycotting" I'll just delay watching) and I haven't done that either, not even when pre-warned that several episodes in  prior seasons would be ridiculously Sam-lite. Sera's TVLine comments about what Sam would be doing in 7.12 didn't especially ignite my interest either.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I didn't know that at time, and my comment was meant to be sarcastic LOL, but I am delighted that Mark P will be back in 7.15.

  42. Maybe what we need is an organized twitter campaign: We want Sam point-of-view. I'd twitter that every day if others participate.
