Sherlock - What Did You Think Of 2.01 - A Scandal In Belgravia?

2 Jan 2012

Hey Guys,

Yesterday saw the return of BBC's drama "Sherlock", which revolves around a modern day version of Conan Doyle's classic hero Sherlock Holmes.

"A Scandal In Belgravia" was loosely based on Doyle's novel "A Scandal In Bohemia" and featured one of Holmes' classic rivals, Irene Adler.

What did you think of the episode?

I personally loved the episode. I thought Adler was expertly played by Laura Pulver, and that Sherlock himself was more interesting than he's ever been.

With another three episode season, we only have two more to go starting next week with an episode based on the most famous of all Holmes cases, "The Hound of the Baskervilles."

Here are a few reviews of the episode:

UK viewers can watch the episode on the BBC iPlayer HERE

  1. Brilliant! More than I expected. And no one would have imagined a sequel like that for the pool scene lol

  2. It was everything I hoped it be! Irene was fantastic, they really did her character justice and you can understand why Sherlock was drawn towards her.  So many scenes I loved especially Mycroft and Sherlock at the morgue smoking and then Mycroft warning John to look out for his brother.  Also the way they concluded last season's cliffhanger oh how I laughed!

Also great to have more Lestrade, Molly and Mrs Hudson, especially liked how Sherlock took care of her and how everyone was disgusted at Mycroft telling her to shut up.

About to watch it for a second time and probably a third after that!

Lara Pulver did a great job, and Benedict Cumberbatch too, ofcourse. The whole cast is just so good. The twists and turns of the episode were perfect. Definitely my favourite episode so far.

  8. Best episode of the series so far.

It had a few moments that just missed being perfect, but most of the scenes were flawless!

  9. I loved it! which kinda surprised me, because I wasn't all that impressed by season 1 as everyone else was, I liked it but never quite understood what's so awesome about it. But season 2 premiere was amazing!

  10. I felt similarly about Season 1. It was good, and unique, but I ended each episode thinking it was something I would not miss if I quit watching or it was cancelled. If not for my love of Holmes or BBC Crime Drama I may not have continued watching honestly.

This episode was different. I liked it a lot and am eagerly waiting for the next 2 installments.

  14. I was amazed by this episode. The characters became even more interesting. Mycroft became a new favourite for me. The relationship between Sherlock, Adler and Watson genius. It's so complicated. It can't be summed up or categorized. How amazing is that? The final scene with Mycroft, Sherlock and Adler was written so elegantly and acted with such underlying angst and feeling... wow. wow. wow. Can't wait for the second episode. Going to re-watch the first one right now.

  15. Quite simply fabulous. Loved every moment, with clever little nods to the Holmes canon as particular favorites,  (The speckled blond!)!  Brilliant, brilliant stuff, and completely worth that excruciating wait!

  18. excellent show.
This episode is my favorite so far.
Great writing,  excellent acting with one minor exception :I like the actor who's playing moriarty but I think he could tone down is character impression a little.
I loved every scene between Mycroft and Sherlock and I hope we will see "the women" again.
    Bravo!

  19. I taped this episode I can't seem to stop watching, that's how great this episode was. The story line was clever, fun, funny, fast paced, interesting, and above all I loved all of the characters. They sexed up the story line which is something I never imagined would happen, that caught me off guard a bit. I had no idea Benedict Cumberbatch looked so good in the buff, boy was that a sight to see. Martin Sheen is such a laid back, cool character on the show as Watson, and Lara Pulver was on fire, she gave Sherlock a run for his money as "The Woman" and Moriarty "Andrew Scott" was fun to watch as was Sherlock brother. Great episode!
