Sherlock - Martin Freeman hoping to make third series

Jan 7, 2012

Martin Freeman has revealed that he is keen to star in a third series of Sherlock. The actor took a break from playing Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit to shoot the second series of the BBC detective drama earlier this year.

Freeman told talkshow host Graham Norton: "The hope is that we will make a third series. There is certainly more to do and I would like to do it. It's a very nice way to spend your time."

He also admitted to being "really very pleased" with the reaction to the first series of Sherlock, which aired on BBC One in mid-2010.

  1. My guess is that the cliffhanger for Holmes might be that he ends up in jail or injured.
Or did they incorporate the Doctor bodychange...I hope not! :D

  2. Assuming they're following source material, (and the title "Reichenbach Fall" suggests they certainly are), the cliffhanger will be a big step past that!  Doyle landed readers with a real doozy of an ending for "The Final Problem" back in 1893.   And we /must/ have a season three to see what Moffat and Gattis and co. can do adapting "The Empty House"...     They'd just better!

  3. I want a third season so bad even if we have to wait a couple of years for it to accommodate their schedules

  4. With Freeman in Hobbit, Cumberbatch in Star Trek 2 and Moff tied up with the Who 50th I think it will be a couple of years, but I can't see them wanting to stop making these, they all seem to have so much fun with it.

  7. Very nice how the story played out in the end. Knew that the obvious view how Watson saw it would be an too easy way out for the series. :)
