Sherlock and Moriarty battle it out intellectualy & physically in the novel until they both fall to their deaths. Only an injured Sherlock , with the help of Mycroft may have had other plans. I expect the current screen writers to stick to canon and to dispatch Sherlock to his grave by the end of the episode .......leave a clueless and grief stricken Watson. Now if the writers are really as clever as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the trick will be believably resurrecting Sherlock for S3.
It would be tragic for season 3 never to happen, given what certainly /will/ happen at the end of this finale. But, Doyle did leave his readers believing Holmes was dead for years and years... There's a kind of poetry in knowing viewers of this series will get a taste of that same cruelty! Freeman and Cumberbatch do both want to continue, which is a big plus. I'm just hope our wait is shorter than the original was!
Actually, Doyle killed off Sherlock because he was tired of writing him. He actually didn't want to write any more stories at the time! He was persuaded by the reader public to continue writing. So new stories came three years later. I think we are in for at least another 18 months in waiting.
Oh, I do know /why/ Doyle killed off Holmes in the first place, but that doesn't make it any less cruel! I remember reading once that even Doyle's own mother-in-law was giving him a hard time about it, until he repented. Good for her, I say!
Article in the promo... You mean the shot of a newspaper? I wouldn't let that worry you. Who knows who actually wrote the content, but that sort of thing is basically a prop. They don't expect viewers to read the whole thing, and repeating content means your quick glimpse at it goes by in the episode is more likely to pick up relevant lines.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I am so conflicted I both really need to see this episode and never watch it because my heart will break
ReplyDeleteThanks! I can't wait! Though, I have a bad feeling about it. It feels like there's gonna be very moving end.
ReplyDeleteI don't think my heart can take this. The preview alone gave me a racing pulse XD
ReplyDeleteHow can three weeks go so quickly?
ReplyDeleteMy heart won't be able to take it!!
ReplyDeleteLast ep already :(
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this episode... but also not looking forward to it as it's the last of the 3.
