-Ratings Breakdown:
Despite airing all encores, CBS still dominated Tuesday in the overnights with a 1.5 rating point advantage over second-place ABC and Fox. NBC held the No. 4 spot, followed by distant The CW, which featured the DOA debut of non-scripted Remodeled.
Remodeled opened with a miniscule 0.6 rating/1 share in the overnights at 9 p.m., which dropped by 45 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of lead-in 90210 (#5: 1.1/ 2) and is now the weakest series-premiere in the history of The CW. Former failed time period occupant H8R, hosted by Mario Lopez, debuted on 9/14/11 with a 1.2/ 2. Overall, four-year-old 90210, which should never have made it into a second season, averaged a 1.2/ 2 from 8-9 p.m. Needless to say, this is a season The CW would like to forget. Aside from The Vampire Diaries, 9 of the 10 hours on the network (or 90 percent) are in need of repair.
Dominant CBS populated this third Tuesday in January with repeats of NCIS (#1: 8.1/13), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#6.4/10) and Unforgettable, which finished second behind Body of Proof on ABC (#1: 6.1/10) with a 5.0/ 8 in the overnights.
Over at ABC, sitcom Last Man Standing, which recently had its freshman episode order increased from 22 to 24, finished second in the 8 p.m. half-hour with a 5.6/ 9. Next was a repeat of Last Man Standing (#3t: 4.1/ 6) in place of canceled Work It, followed by Celebrity Wife Swap (#3: 4.1/ 6 at 9 p.m.), featuring Niecy Nash and former Family Ties star Tina Yothers, and aforementioned Body of Poof (#1: 6.1/10 at 10 p.m.). Worth positively noting for older skewing Body of Proof was overnight growth out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Celebrity Wife Swap (4.1/ 6) of 49 percent. One year earlier, former failed ABC Tuesday 9 p.m. sci-fi drama occupant V was equal to Celebrity Wife Swap in the overnights.
Elsewhere, two hours of The Biggest Loser on NBC (4.3/ 7 from 8-10 p.m.) finished 19 percent below one year earlier (5.3/ 8 on 1/18/11) and could use a rest, no doubt. That led into Parenthood, which dropped to a third-place 3.7/ 6 at 10 p.m. As always, the variation between Parenthood and the competition will be smaller among adults 18-49. Here is the half-hour breakdown for The Biggest Loser:
The Biggest Loser (NBC)
8:00 p.m.: 4.3/ 7 (#4)
8:30 p.m.: 4.1/ 6 (#3t)
9:00 p.m.: 4.3/ 7 (#3)
9:30 p.m.: 4.5/ 7 (#2)
Fox capped off the evening with deteriorating Glee (#2: 5.6/ 9 at 8 p.m.), consistent New Girl (#2: 5.2/ 8), which will dominate the 9 p.m. half-hour among adults 18-49, and sophomore Raising Hope (#4: 3.6/ 6 at 9:30 p.m.). Comparably (and unfortunately), Raising Hope slid by 31 percent from New Girl.

Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteArgh, I REALLY hope next week's Michael Jackson tribute will find some more viewers for Glee. This week's episode was hands-down AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteHaha, this guy really is one uncanny fellow.
ReplyDeleteWhen, say, Chuck or Community get low ratings, he's always here to put call them "losers" and say that these shows should have been cancelled : "needless to say it's a mistake to keep this show", no one is watching these "lackluster", "limited" series (he topped himself last December with this one last thought for Community before it is taken off the air this Winter : "Three year-old Community, which should never have made it into a second season, will be going on hiatus").
But when Raising Hope, which he loves (and so do I), gets bad ratings (basically every week), the show is not a "loser" but it's "disappointing". The truth is, Community's task is much bigger (anchoring the busiest night of the week against the most watched sitcom on TV and FOX's X Factor/American Idol) than Raising Hope's (broadcast after 18-49 year old magnets such as Glee and New Girl). The guy is supposed to be a professionnal, every once in a while, even if he hates Community with all his heart, he should acknoledge that fact. He's right though, Raising Hope's ratings should be so much better. Why the heck are people tuning out after New Girl ? I mean, what are they gonna watch, there's nothing else starting at 9:30pm on any other network !
Yeah, he does this with all the shows he dislikes. I find it petty and childish, I wish someone would set him straight.
DeleteAnd another dose of jabs at the CW today too. :-/
I'm glad Body of Proof up and wins the reprise of Unforgettable.
ReplyDeleteDon't know why Raising Hope gets such bad ratings - it's so funny!
ReplyDeleteParenthood. :( It's holding steady but the numbers still suck. Having such a large cast must hurt the budget a little.
ReplyDeletePoor CW !
ReplyDeleteIt's nearly impossible to get such a low rating but they have succeeded in doing it.
This is getting ridiculous now.
I think someone must be sabotaging their ratings, for they should get highs and lows like evey other network, not just lows and lows!
I wonder if people don't watch Raising Hope because its about a working class family, I have no evidence but the majority of sitcoms in the states seem to be about comfortable well of people, I think maybe viewers are turned off by the idea of a so called 'white trash' family. Like I said no actual evidence for this but its something I've been wondering for a while.
ReplyDeleteWoo! Go Body of Proof! YAY! :D
ReplyDeleteI think you are spot on about this! I have heard first hand from a friend's husband that he refuses to watch with his wife because "they're glorifying white trash!" He went into it already hating it & bitched throughout the entire episode, he got all pissed off when I asked how he could say it was crap when you couldn't hear anything but him being a loud mouth! Unfortunately I know plenty of others like him, so there's a bit of evidence to suport your theory.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting! I love the show, I think it doesn't glorify white trash or really diss the characters either it just shows a different type of people you don't often see on TV these days apart from on reality shows. It seems like that kind of attitude could well be quite common which is such a shame because it really is a lovely adorable show that is also hilarious!
ReplyDeleteomg your profil pic. <3
ReplyDelete0.3... ZERO POINT THREE omg... I dont know if I should cry or laugh
ReplyDeleteI had so much hope for the new head of cw.
