Ratings Breakdown:
Only two networks, ABC and NBC, aired originals last night. That said, ABC led the Monday overnights with a 20 percent advantage over second-place CBS. In the distant No. 3 spot was NBC, followed by Fox and The CW.
Two-hours of The Bachelor on ABC averaged a 5.5 rating/8 share in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was 10 percent below the 6.1/ 9 it scored on the year-ago evening. Translation: there is still an audience for this type of non-scripted dribble. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
The Bachelor (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 5.6/ 8 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 5.3/ 8 (#1t)
9:00 p.m.: 5.4/ 8 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 5.6/ 8 (#1)
Leading out of The Bachelor was Castle at a dominant 7.1/12 at 10 p.m.
Second-place CBS populated the evening with encore telecasts of How I Met Your Mother (#2: 4.7/ 7), 2 Broke Girls (#1t: 5.3/ 8), Two and a Half Men (#1: 6.1/ 9), Mike & Molly (#2: 5.5/ and Hawaii Five-O (#2: 4.3/ 7).
NBC was out of the competitive overnight loop with its line-up of game show Who’s Still Standing? (#3: 3.6/ 5 at 8 p.m.), recent returnee Fear Factor (#3: 3.5/ 5 at 9 p.m.) and newsmagazine Rock Center With Brian Williams (#3: 2.3/ 4 at 10 p.m.), which featured an interview with George Clooney. Expected respectable results among adults 18-49 keeps Fear Factor off the listing of “losers.” As a reminder, two hours of NBC’s The Voice in the Monday 8-10 p.m. block will lead into Smash at 10 p.m. effective on Feb. 6. Struggling Rock Center With Brian Williams moves into the Wednesday 9 p.m. time period on Feb. 8.
Elsewhere, two repeat episodes of House on Fox averaged a mere 2.2/ 3 in the overnights (#4) from 8-10 p.m. And encore telecasts of Gossip Girl (#5: 0.6/ 1) and Hart of Dixie (#5: 0.7/ 1) were barely on the map on The CW. As for the future of Fox after this season: stay tuned.

Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Good to see Castle coming back strong
ReplyDeleteYeah for Castle!
ReplyDeleteI expected with a repeat of H5O that the ratings would be higher for Castle but they didn't even hit the 10 million!
ReplyDeleteI must be really missing the mark on 2 broke girls. I still think its awful. I have tried to like it but nahh just can't. Sick to death of reruns though. Seems especially long this year
ReplyDeleteIf you check out the ratings from the past season, you will notice a pattern...The last episode before the midseason hiatus and the first episode after always have lower ratings than the rest of the season
ReplyDeleteYeah, besides, I bet most people who watch H50 don't watch Castle and viceversa, so I don't think the fact that H50 was a repeat was a big influence on those numbers.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Castle! :D
Castle!!! :DDD great!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Castle would get 10+.
ReplyDeleteYAY for Castle! Back on top! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see a good share of the audience watch reruns. I've been catching up on episodes I missed.
ReplyDeleteCastle :D
ReplyDeleteCastle :)
