Fringe. And I have a thought to the fans of Chuck, who saddly will enjoy their show for the last time! I wish you a great, fun and nice series finale guys! :-)
Looking forward to the Chuck series finale tonight. The little show that could has run its course, well maybe longer than it should have even.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out and especially nice since the entire season has been working to this final moment! Not every series gets that goodbye season!
Fringe is on my plate, obviously, although the major event of tonight is undoubtedly the Series Finale of Chuck.
Sure, the show had ups (season 1 and the absolutely brilliant season 2, The Beard episode standing out in season 3, the first 10 and last 5 episodes of season 4) and downs (most of season 3, the middle of season 4 and the beginning of season 5), but so far, all signs point to a very satisfying ending concluding a very enjoyable season (since episode 5.04, the show has really become great again, Chuck is experiencing its best season since season 2 imo — this evolution reminds me of Alias, in a way).
But even if I was a much bigger fan of Chuck back in May 2009, there's no doubt this series finale will be a very big moment for me. The end of an era, the end of 33.33% of my returning drama series of the week, all 4 major networks combined — The Good Wife and Fringe complete my very short list of long-running dramas on NBC, CBS, FOX & ABC, and I sure don't want The Good Wife to make up for 100% of that part of my TV schedule next season, if you see what I mean (I know, I know, some freshman dramas like Revenge are likely to get renewed, but you get my point : Fringe must get a fifth season).
Plus, I will also be watching episode 2.04 of a show that is not in the poll : The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, at 10:30pm on IFC, right after Portlandia (a sketch comedy series with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein that I don't watch). It's a mildly amusing awkward comedy starring David Cross as Todd Margaret, plus Will Arnett is co-starring and this season Jon Hamm is here as a recurring guest throughout all 6 episodes (minus episode 2.02). Pretty interesting cast, eh ?
Other than TIPDOTM (quite the acronym) and Portlandia, IFC also produces The Onion News Network, a fake network with a fake news show (Fact Zone with Brooke Alvarez) which is quite fun. They've produced 20 episodes last year, I'm catching up now, some bits are hilarious and overall it's really funny. For instance, did you know that Al-Quaida has released the (trapped) photograph of a piglet wearing boots and thus successfully taken down the Internet ? And what about this anti-gay senator who secretly married a horse ? Plus, did you know that time-traveling soldiers from 2075 came back to 2011 to kill Suri Cruise, who they claim is responsible for the upcoming doom of humanity as a merciless dictator ? And also, did you see that american drone, TR 425, who killed hundred of innocent civilians in the Middle East and who is now on trial and it turns out he acted alone ? You see, ONN is pretty wild. Otherwise, IFC mostly reruns existing comedies, most of them from FOX apparently (Arrested Development, Malcolm in the Middle, Action, Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, The Critic, The Larry Sanders Show, The Ben Stiller Show). They have a thing for Judd Apatow as well : he worked on the last 5 shows I mentioned, it can't be a coincidence they're all on rerun on IFC… Brooke Alvarez should investigate on that. Their original scripted programming is pretty recent, that's another competitor entering the market on comedies for basic cable, next to TV Land, Comedy Central and the unbeatable FX.
And there's the premiere of Spartacus, which I will hold onto until the finale in 9 weeks, and watch it marathon-style, like I did for season 1 & season 0. Both times I enjoyed it very much, no reason to change now.
It's Fringe Friday! I will be very busy tonight with various projects, but will make time for Fringe. Now that Walter is back to being himself, it should be very enjoyable.
Oh and don't forget to check all the sites elsewhere for polls like tvguide to mark that you're watching Fringe. The more wide spread we can get the better.
Chuck! I have this show to thank for so many feel-good moments over the last years. If there is any show that does family dinner parties better than this one, I do not want to know!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Chuck, for the last time. :(
ReplyDeleteChuck for sure! I have not missed one episode and I am certainly not missing this one either!
ReplyDeleteChuck Chuck Chuck!!
ReplyDeleteI will probably watch it twice, so Fringe will have to wait until tomorrow.
