  1. Excellent episode. I didn't suspect all the twists and turns. And I'm happy Carter is learning about who Finch and Reese really are and what they do.

  2. I really liked it, especially Finch and Reese's banter and the flashbacks.

  3. Loved Goodwin's... erm I mean Ingram's return to the show! Even if it is flashback it adds to the backstory of the machine so that is always a good thing!

Loved David Zayas (Angel Batista from Dexter) making Miami jokes. XD

The Finch and Reese banter continues to get better and better. They are a great "Odd Couple" pairing!

House mouse going field mouse mode again was great. Even the way Finch tosses a place is quirky... and somewhat less than clandestine.

  4. Agreed.
Always nice to have some backstory flashback goodness!

  5. AWESOME episode! Loved the role reversal and the humor that they injected into it. Loved that Carter has earned the "need to know" for the guys and look forward to where her involvement goes. 2 best lines from the episode:
"That Detective Carter, is what we do...." click

and of course: "Use the cushion"..... good stuff

  6. The show keeps getting better and better with every episode. I'm a big fan of Finch's fighting techniques.

  7. I really liked the ep.  I knew the super was protecting Lilly and that someone else was stalking her.  The only thing I got wrong was that i thought he was her father.  (That was my guess on why the photos)  Liked  Finch's solution to having his main gun sidelined.  Hand the next number over to Carter.  Liked the flash back but I'm not sure what it was supposed to be telling us.  Just exposition about The Machine or are we being walked to how Finch got hurt.  Whichever, I'm totally willing to go along for the ride and find out over time.

  8. Enjoyed it, always good to see the back story of Finch and the machine.

  9. I watch the show because it`s a perfect combination of non-serialized show with a serialized one. The show itself deals with the cases of the weak, but Carter, Fusco, Reese and Finch connect all those cases. I hope you get me :D. But the mystery for me is, what the hell are they gonna do when all those foes they managed to upset will start to chase them? The shit will fall on their head. So I`m really curious how are they going to survive it. Y`know...till the end of the season :D

I don`t know if you`ve read it, but so far, this show is like Youth in Revolt books. The main character of the saga in the beginning of every book has an agenda - he wants the girl he loves to fall in love with him. And because of this agenda, he creates (not intentionally) a web of lies around him. Because when he says something he says it with confidence so his peers believe him. And because he can act pretty well, the adults believe him too. And why he lies? Because if he told someone the truth he knows it would upset a lot of people, but when he lies, they leave him alone - at least till they put their shit together. And at the end of every book, those people realize what is going on - that they`ve been lied to and that they`ve been manipulated. And the shit starts to fall on his head. So he runs away.

Of course, in this show, the running away part is going to be different. And very difficult. If there`s going to be as running away part.

  10. loved it .. Case was a tiny bit.... idk ... meh! but everything else just made up for it that I didn't care .. Finch/Reese banter was just brilliant especially the "poke his eyes" that made me LMAO at them .. this episode is certainly more light-hearted with a bit of the usual underlying darkness .. loved the Finch's back-story and that he's showing more character .. Also, the last scene left me intrigued about what actually happened to Ingram..

What I also loved is the meeting between Finch & Carter.. love how chose they way to make her do what they do to understand what they do instead of going into explanations..

I'm amazed that after each episode you'll have the same "the best episode ever" reaction then come next week and it's the same if not stronger.. totally addicted to this!

  11. well, I agree.. for once I didn't even where the show is going completely and that made me enjoy it even more ..

  13. Voted: Awesome!

So I have been a little busy celebrating FRINGE FRIDAY, but wanted to stop by and briefly comment on last night's episode, "SUPER"!The BEST part was surely David Zaya's guest role....for those that maybe don't know him, or recognized him, David Zayas is a series regular on the showtime serial killer series, DEXTER! In Dexter he plays probably the most ethical and good character, detective Angel Batista. -Dexter is about a serial killer who kills serial killers and whom really is coming to terms with whom he is and whom he wants to be. Every season tends to have one MAGOR villain Dexter goes up against...this past season we were introduced to a spit-personality serial killer named, TRAVIS Marshell. --Oh and the show takes place in Miami, occasionally has dealt with the Cuban Mob, and often includes Dexter's boat: "A Slice of Life". There were SO many fun references to DEXTER, that I couldn't stop smiling all the way to end of the episode! As for the POI episode itself, I thought it was good. We continue on with Snow and his CIA task force, We see Carter choose a side and give Snow the slip , We see more back story with Ingram and Finch and their links to Intelligence agencies (CIA, NSA, ect) and really learn nothing about how exactly the machine works--but is speculated that the machine may specifically rely on FINCH, and we see FINCH put Carter in a good light and in his own way "show" her what Reese and Finch are doing, and we are left guessing if Zaya's Travis is playing Dexter or Angel all the way till the end!!!Additionally the episode reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window"...well a modern version anyways

  16. did you see in the last shot, the machine's self preservation algorithm designates Nathan Ingram as 'possible threat'. does that mean anything?

    ReplyDelete
  17. wow! what an episode. Great come back... Does anyone else find it interesting that series creator Jonah Nolan has not written any episode since the first two episodes? Not that the writing quality has reduced or anything, but I would love to see more episodes scripted by him...

  18. Me to, maybe he's back to write the season finale.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I did see it.... but not sure what to make of it yet.

It could mean that machine has a sort of AI which would be right up Abrams alley I guess.

Maybe it killed Ingram, or set the wheels in motion for Ingram to be killed.

I wonder if it is protective of Finch too, or was it just self-preservation and sensing a threat to itself from Ingram?

If Finch is the machine (or more connected to it than we know) as was suggested it could be  protecting him and itself in one action. Hell all the names being spit out could be threats to Finch in some way and not just national security for all we know... XD

Sure we will find out more, but I'm not sure how to take that last screen yet.....

  20. also when Finch is monitoring the CIA (or whichever agency) guy talking to Nathan about the machine and the machine shows him as threat, Finch says, as though speaking to the machine, 'i know, i know'... :P I found that connection he has to the machine creepy and very intriguing... Perhaps there is a connection that machine makes with Finch that is more unintentional by Finch but he is somewhat aware of it? It would be hard to make that work, it would be really interesting. The machine being protective of it's creator is definitely a very interesting concept for me.

  21. yeah, he's probably busy with some feature script, but yeah, he'll probably return to write for the finale...

    ReplyDelete
  22. sorry if that's incoherent. I don't make much sense when hundreds of thoughts are simultaneously running through my mind. This show makes me think like not many shows has in the past. The technology aspect of it almost gives me a 'mind boner'... :P

    ReplyDelete
  23. That was interesting and kinda creepy!

It could also be seen as Finch protecting his own behind..Say Finch did not make this machine to work out these algorithms on its own, but more to work them when Finch himself was unable to. I mean basically the Machine is Finch's alter ego, or a "virtual Finch". If that were the case then Finch would be looking out for himself.. or his virtual self would be looking out for his physical self.

Then you can carry that a few steps further to the Machine thinking physical Finch is a threat to it and turning on its maker like many of the AI technology books and films.

I won;t go down that road just yet, but the AI aspect of the Machine is intriguing for sure!

  24. I agree, probably busy work on somenthing. Can't wait to see the rest of this incredible season.

  25. Lost will always follow us...also firstly see Ingram as Goodwin. :D Was expecting that we would see him hurt Finch which would result in his back problem.

Hehe, Angel and Quinn did party a lot in Miami this season. Also read it as a shout-out to Dexter. lol

The banter between Reese and Finch doesn't seem to get old for me. Loved how appalled Finch was when Reese described him the finger-sticking-into-eyesockets-move. :D

Yeah, the overall plot twist for this episode wasn't that great. About halfway through I suspected Ange...Trask to be Lily's father and try to protect her from the stalker.

And I like how Carter slowly is learning what they are doing. At the beginning of the season I disliked her character but now their stories aren't that dichotomy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. That is how I read it. The machine tries to tell that Ingram wants to get more power over the machine since so far he is too dependent on Finch.

But there are so many possibilities...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Like the guys on the DVMPE Podcast of Interest theorize.

Maybe the machine will eventually get self-aware like Skynet. :D

    ReplyDelete
  28. that's interesting, but the machine does not have the resources to do anything drastic... It's fundamental objective is to provide actionable intelligence, not to perform any action by itself (which is impossible to do as well unless the machine starts lying and manipulating the very resources that it surveils) and in the end it is machine with an operating system, it can't take a life of it's own... If anything the machine resembles more like Eagle Eye than Skynet... But I would find it hard to believe that, with the sort of realistic take that the creators are doing with this omnipresent surveillance system, they would include something like self awareness...

I think the biggest problem the machine has is from people who want to misuse it.

  29. amazing as always, there hasn't been a single episode that I haven't thought was at least great

  30. Awesome episode

  31. Finch poked the guy in the eyes just like Reese told him to.  XD  This makes the episode an instant win for me.
