I voted okay too. Didn't blow my mind, but it was a cute diversion with a few genuinely charming moments. The premise is absolutely ridiculous, though, and I may have a hard time suspending my disbelief for the long haul. Plus, I was a bit concerned with what already seems to be a LOT of characters to juggle.
I'll stick around for now - at least until we find out that Andie McDowell is the long, lost mom referenced all over the pilot. I mean, it's pretty obvious that's where this is going, right?
I don't think that's the route it's going, if it is, you are in for at least two season before such a reveal... but come to think about it, the do bare a striking resemblance...
Just seen it, and I've loved it. Other people can watch shows about singing as much as they want, but for me fashion is where it's at. Plus, it reminds me of that 80's movie Working Girl, and now that I think about it Don't tell mom babysitter's dead, too. I'm a sucker for this premise.
I hadn't thought of Working Girl, but yeah that fits.
I thought of The Devil Wears Prada more so. The demanding boss and undervalued assistant that will win over the boss and find a place she feels right for the first time in her life...
I thought it was cute, but most of the pilot fell "just under". The jokes were just a bit off, the drama was just a bit transparent, everything was just a notch less than it should have been.
If that continues I will not stay with it, but if it was a pilot issue and the kinks get worked out I will keep watching for a while at least. Cute show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
it was ok, but the spoilers were right, I want her to stub a toe or something already

ReplyDeleteI had that thought right away too. I'm not sure they are going there, but it certainly struck me as a possibility!
