Loved it! Liked how they incorporated the case of the week with the still looming mystery of the conspiracy that tied into all the badness that followed the murder of Kate’s mother wit the reappearance of the mystery man that Capt. Montgomery mailed all the info in his safe to. Figured that the trailers were misleading the viewers by making it seem that there was serious tension between Castle/Beckett over the case, but that they were at odds with each other but still respected the decisions that they made. Good to see the Bones tie in with the squintern (forgot his name) and liked that there was moment that they called each other by their first name again, but it wasn’t as pivotal as the moment last season. Can’t wait til next week.!
great episode and great way to bring back the holy grail of cases. im glad the mayor is still around and i realize now that when beckett does eventually find out i bet there is going to be a long 5th season of him winning his trust back lol and then in the 100th episode (which will be the 19th episode of the 5th season) we'll finally get castle and beckett togehter. i'll still keep watching tho.
Trying to sort all this out. I think we just saw a king-side castling and an opposing queen-side castling. The pawns are in place so we are prepped for a good fight.
I thought it was a great episode.I missed a lot due to the weather, cable doesn't like snow and ice so it would black out quite a bit. I will re-watch it when the weather clears!
Not bad. I always like the eps that delve a bit into the series arc. But, you know, I prefer serialized dramas to procedurals so of course that would be the case!
I did not know this episode was (partially) about the main arc/conspiracy of the series. It was a really pleasant surprise. I knew whoever that powerful person was, it was not the Mayor. I know now that it's probably the Governor. He wanted the Mayor not contesting him in the next 2 years I guess. But there are still a lot of pieces remaining to the puzzle. I hope season finale can shed more light.
yep, same for me. I haven't known about the connection of this weeks case to Kates shooting either, and it was definitly a pleasant surprise =) I'm not sure about the Governor thing though, I guess I'll just wait and see. I have the feeling that any assumption I'd make would be wrong anyway xD
I really loved the twist of having Beckett's mom's case connected, that was a great tie-in and the chess analogy really makes me curious about who exactly is calling the shots here. Gates opening up and being a bit more human was cool, it makes her a more sympathetic character. Castle and Beckett disagreeing but not being at each others throats made for some tension, but shows their growth and that no matter what they are still listening to each other. The first-name stuff was nice too, we don't often get to hear it and it makes for a nice touch, I think. It sucks that the mayor got messed over, but I hope we will get to revisit that aspec, and maybe he will turn out to be valuable later on
Enjoyed it - I'm glad that the conflict shown in the promos was a bit of misdirection and that Castle understood that Beckett was doing her job. I hope they're heading to some sort of conclusion about Beckett's mother because it's dragging a little. I'm not sure how I feel about this big conspiracy - I find it a bit annoying and some answers would be nice.
This episode wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I was thinking there would be more tension surrounding the status of Castle assisting at the precinct but Gates didn't even bring it up. Oh, and I still think Geoff Pierson's character is Castle's dad.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteTerrific ep, loved the conspiracy element and "deep throat" aspect.
ReplyDeleteI thought that it was amazing :)
ReplyDeleteIt is getting so exciting. I love the season long arc.
ReplyDeleteIt was not what what I was expecting so it was a very good surprise. Loved it.

ReplyDeleteIt was great! Glad the mayor was innocent ;) Wonder who are these powerful people...
ReplyDeleteI love the conspiracy storyline. It ties the episodes together nicely.

ReplyDeleteTerrific episode - I was completely surprised by where it actually went, and it was fantastic!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, and not at all what I expected. Intriguing hints as the grand mystery continues!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great episode, but this season something's missing. There is no romance.
