...

I want to say Pretty Little Liars winning over Game of Thrones is a joke, Hot in Cleveland winning over It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is as deserved as Frank and Charlie's bed is clean, HIMYM winning over Modern Family is as funny as HIMYM (so it's not), 2 Broke Girls winning over Suburgatory is a travesty, Katy Perry winning over Michael J. Fox is a booby-filled enigma and Lea Michele winning over Tina Fey is grotesque, but I won't (plus I'd say something about The Good Wife and Fringe losing to Supernatural but I'm behind enemy lines here, that wouldn't be wise). It was good enough that they were nominated in the first place, I did not think they had a shot at winning in an award show like that.

There's a little hope in the movie categories though, where Bridesmaids, Rango, Emma Stone (The Help, Crazy Stupid Love) and Chloë Grace Moretz (Hugo) all won awards (Emma Stone even won two !).

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II was plebiscited with four wins (favorite movie, favorite action movie, favorite ensemble and favorite book adaptation). I think it would have been great if Harry could have shared some awards with The Help, X-Men First Class and Moneyball (I can't believe this one even got nominated), but it's deserved nonetheless.

  1. Thanks! So happy for SPN, HIMYM, NPH, and a few others.

So freaking pissed that OUAT lost, though. I thought for sure they'd win, especially since Ginnifer and Jennifer were there!

  2. YAY!! I love Nathan Fillion & Castle!

    ReplyDelete
  3. LOL at SPN winning 2(!) PCAs.
Wow, they must have had really effing awesome vote bots... otherwise is just impossible. :D

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'm okay with most choices (or don't care because I'm not interested in any of the nominees), but can't understand why Pretty Little Liars (even though I like it) won instead of Game of Thrones. Happy for Nina Dobrev.

  5. Is 'people choice' my friend, not 'critics choice'.

  6. Despite how awesome Supernatural's fandom is,I did not expect this..I was thinking that maybe we would have a chance at the favorite sci-fi/fantasy category. But favorite network drama..I didn't see that coming!
    So incredibly happy right now!  : )  : )

Can't really offer an opinion on most of the other categories, but at least in the favorite cable show category I would have liked to see Game Of Thrones winning,or White Collar.

  7. Very Surprised SPN won best Drama, just goes to show whay a bunch of devoted fans can do when they put their minds to it!

Pleased by some of the other wins too - especially for Castle and Nathan.

Although I watch PLL, I don't think it deserved best cable drama.  In terms of quality the other 4 shows nominated are so much better.

  8. u r underestimating Supernatural and power of its fandom.
we mayb in smaller network but its really best show out there along with TVD

    ReplyDelete
  9. people surprised that how Supernatural won , its because we voted. if u had voted for your show it would have won. i m so incredibly proud to b part of Spnl and TVD fandom. we r on smaller network doesnt mean we cant win. these both r two most powerful and best shows out there. and the win was very well deserved

  10. I'm sorry to bust your bubble, but this 73 year old is very pleased that SPN won and Nina Dobrev was a write in and won.  Don't know why everyone thinks it is just teens that like and vote for these shows.  Of course the tiny bit of the show I watched last night was made for 12 year olds or maybe that was the IQ they were going for.

    1. Amen!!! I'm 38 and voted my butt off for my favorites, and I was glad to see my favorites get some recognition! I voted for Supernatural, Nathan Fillion, HIMYM, & Castle. I'm still perplexed at the show's decision to put "big" awards like Fave Network Drama on during the red carpet, NOT mention some category winners at all, hand Stana Katic the Castle awards while she's sitting in her seat (kind of like, "Oh yeah, BTW, you guys got this. No biggie."), have 5 minute commercials (poorly) disguised as "skits". The biggest disappointment is that the winners of a major category (and also a historically smaller one) WEREN'T EVEN INVITED TO ATTEND & accept their award? I guess the "12 yr. olds" don't care, but this grownup is NOT going to bother watching this show next year!

  11. But it's not thou, or it would be getting 10 million+ more in the ratings and/or be on a bigger network.  You mean they are your favourite shows :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Why'd you have to give your own opinions on this? Just reporting the results would have worked just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Nice for Nina dobrev.Pretty Little Liars has a fair amont of fans. There are those like me who don't have HBO who haven't even seen Game of thrones yet and won't till It hits DVD.Nice to see couple shows I watch win something.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And they clicked and clicked and clicked,on and on and on.

How could they call themselves an award show? I am still waiting to hear an explanation on that one. ..... ...
That list is null and void

    ReplyDelete
  15. Surprisingly they weren't that bad. Except, mostly, for that hilarious award that Chloe girl got :D that was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Supernatural was bound to win, with the massive support it has from its hardcore fanbase. I'm really happy that it won and more than that, I'm very proud to be part of this fandom (who has also recently raised
$18K in donation to St. Jude's upon the request of Jared and Genevieve for their coming baby instead of gifts)
I hope to see it being renewed for an eighth season, since the people at The CW have witnessed the sheer dedication of the Supernatural fanbase and how it is still strong, even after seven seasons on the air.The only other win I care about is Nina Dobrev for Favorite TV Drama Actress. She really deserved it for her magnificent work as the doppelgangers Katherine and Elena on The Vampire Diaries. She does a brilliant work with both, giving each character her own idiosyncrasies.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I like the opinions of the blogger added personally, gives it a personal touch and a starting point for comments :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's an amazing amount to have raised, and great to hear :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Shows win because their fans vote for them. You want Suburgatory to win, you have to vote for it. Easy as that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. LOL, and vote ALOT for it! I know a few people who each logged something like 10,000-25,000 votes each for Supernatural!! (No BOTS... Just mind-numbing clicking. Over and over and over again. And Retweeting. ALOT!!!) I did it ALOT in my free time, maybe 1,000-1500 votes?? Who knows, because reTweeting votes became almost an obsession, LMAO!!! (I was so sure they were going to lose!)

  20. So happy for SPN, Castle, Nina, Neil, HIMYM, HP and PoI - I had a huge problem in this category, cause there were 3 shows I watch and love: OUAT, PoI and Revenge;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. The best thing about Nina's win was she was a write in, so good going fans, pat yourselves on the back.  I think that is the first time a write in got into the final voting.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I know, I did vote for Suburgatory, once.

I have no problem in having an award show where everyone gets to have a say in the nominee list, but the fact that one can vote as many times as humanly possible is bugging me a little.

Anyway, I'm sorry for expressing my opinion in the opinion post, I should have said it in a comment. Although, to be fair, I did say "I want to say [...] but I won't", so technically I didn't say anything.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. LOL, you're right... You DID say "I won't"! I totally agree that there should be a way to have only one vote per person, it should probably be called "Fans' Choice" or even "Fanatics' Choice"!! The problem is with electronic voting, even if they limited it to one vote per person, there'd be technoFans finding a way around that anyway. PCA's encouraged multiple votes from the beginning, and the Facebook app made it ridiculously easy to accrue hundreds of votes at a time.

      definitely "Fans' Choice" ;p

    2. Or maybe "The 'My Fandom Is More Obsessive Than Yours' Awards"!!!!! :D

  23. Not really, no. This article really turned me off of this website, to be honest. I come here for the articles, and I'd like those to be unbiased. I didn't ask the OP for their opinion. If I'd be interested in what people have to say about the results? Then I'd read the comments. Which I do not, in 9 out of 10 cases.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Don't let one person ruin the entire site for you. That's a slight overreaction, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Totally agree BB. Any poll that lets you vote multiple times is instantly dis-credited in my option. People can write simple scripts to get their PC to votes automatically every second and leave their PC running 24hrs a day.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, I'm sorry. What the OP said in their post just pissed me off. I don't wanna have to read something like that in an article. I didn't really ask for their opinion. Maybe next time they should just put it in a comment...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I know it did and I can definitely understand it because I feel the exact same way. It should have gone in the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm certain the writer will be delighted to know that in some way the People's Choice totally agreed with you.  The declined to invite ANYONE from Supernatural to attend the ceremonies.  They didn't want Supernatural to win either.  It's so nice to be dismissed as unimportant but the contest you won.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That was ludicrous, to say the least!! That, coupled with not announcing it during the show AND the way they "presented" (more like TOSSED) the Castle award to Stana katic in her seat, totally turned me off to the whole thing. CBS and PCAs need to go to Award Show school!!!

      Delete
  29. No bots, just a really committed fan base. Why the sarcasm? If your fave show had won would you be calling foul! Nope DDT think so!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks! I'm not really fond of the vote as many times as you like thing...

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree about the voting part.

    ReplyDelete
  32. surely Sandi you aren't making the, frankly silly, mistake of confusing popularity with quality? If that was true 2.5 Men and AI would be the best shows on TV and everything on HBO and any cable channel would automatically be rubbish. Clearly that is not the case.

You might ask yourself, even if SPN isn't your kind of show, whether there might just be something special about it if enough fans are so passionate about it 7 years in, to beat shows with much bigger general audiences in these awards.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks!  SO incredibly proud of Supernatural, and Castle as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for posting the full list of winners and not just a selected one or two Bunky!
I won't be looking at the list of winners, but I know many of the shows have their fans and not just one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I thought the same thing - I thought we had a fighting chance in sci-fi/fantasy, but favorite network drama?!  Going up against shows like Grey's Anatomy and House seemed like a tough battle, but I'm glad it turned out the way it did  :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Got to agree with you Jaz. Sorry Adam but your sarcastic comments don't show you in a very good light. Of course awards decided in this way - multiple Internet voting - are going to illustrate the preferences of the type of person who likes that way of expressing their view ie younger people, and very committed fan bases. Why be sarcastic about it? These aren't the Emmy's. And just because you don't agree with the choices made doesn't make them wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Meant BB not Adam. Apols. Can't get my edit button to work.

    ReplyDelete
  38. PCAs allow multiple votes. If you wanted Suburgatory to win, one vote was never going to help. You might not like that PCA allow multiple voting, but you have to work with the system they have set up.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah I agree with all your thoughts at the bottom, Bunky.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have no problem with mutiple voteing because a show that has maybe 20mill viewers should have the advantage over lower rated shows.
Im not suprised Supernatural won cause I saw a survive of about 97% of their fans vote in every poll.
I feel if you go against shows like SPN, Castle you need to vote more than 300 times because it won't cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. SPN is exactly my kind of show, thou this season has been a bit of a disappointment so far on the whole.  But it doesn't appeal to the masses, so can't really be the best show imo.  *shrugs*  sorry if you don't get that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. But if he'd said it in the comments you would have been fine with it??  This is a TV fan site, run by TV fans for TV fans.  Everyone's opinion is valid here imo, just because you don't share it doesn't mean it can't be said.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Meh, if people get their panties in a bunch just because someone has a differing opinion to you it's best to just ignore them tbh ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dahne had a poll here about a year ago asking for the ages of SPN fans. She did it just to dispute those who think the show is skewed for young viewers. Are you here somewhere, Dahne?

    ReplyDelete
  45. HIMYM deserved to win - it's a brilliant show and I am so happy that it won and very happy that NPH won too.
OUAT should have won it's category though :(

    ReplyDelete
  46. I had that problem until I went to Disqus Help. I forgot what it was I did, but I had to unclick something in my browser, and now I can edit like crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I have gotten many of my age 55+ friends hooked on SPN & TVD, and they are as passionate as I am.  I tell people SPN is about family first.

    ReplyDelete
  48. That just goes to show how great the fandom really is. The family spirit of Supernatural has made us all, the fans, a big family, irrespective of our differences. And it's one of the rarest things to come across nowadays.

    ReplyDelete
  49.  Multiple
voting may not seem fair to some, but if those are the rules there is
no reason why fans shouldn't use the opportunity that's available to
    them.
If it was only one vote each, we would abide by that too.

As for being able to cheat the voting system with various computer
codes, I'm sure the majority of posters wouldn't have the know-how. I
    certainly wouldn't.
Then who's to say that the one person-one vote system couldn't be hacked into too.

Supernatural deserved its win for it has many fans world-wide.
It is into its seventh season, where many "more intellectual " shows
don't manage to arrive and its talented lead actors are consistently
    ignored.
Obviously they don't create enough of that meaningless gossip around
themselves to be of interest to the Hollywood crowd; the proof of that
being that even winning the Best Drama Show on TV they did not get
invited to attend the function and receive their prize!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I also don't like polls where you can vote multiple times but these are the rules for PCA and I, as many others, stick to them ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. SPN has devoted fans and the show deserved the win. If other shows want to win then their fans should care a bit more.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's not a matter of 'not getting it'. It is simply not true to say that high ratings (if that is how you measure popularity) = quality. I could give you 100 examples of critically lauded shows that have won Emmys etc but don't get high ratings, and another 100 diabolical reality show crap fests that get millions of viewers. Quality and ratings are NOT the same thing. Not in this or any other universe.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yep.  We had a SpoilerTV poll which put most fans of #Supernatural in their 20's.  I also cited two other more official polls that put the general age of the Supernatural fandom in their 30's.  One was based on Nielsen data.  It is not by any means a teen show, hence the lack of respect it gets from the CW, at least in the Ostroff years.  I will see if I can find the links to the more official polls and repost them.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm not saying they are, just that something with boarder appeal could be seen as better.

What do you think makes the show the 'best show on TV' at the moment, out of interest?

  56. This 53 year old is also thrilled Supernatural one. I didn't appreciate the comments either. Sore loser I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Exactly  it was rude and poorly judged. They won that should of been accepted not  a display of childish sour  attitude   from the organisers.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Actually the one-person voting system has been hacked too.  On this very site during a Favorite Character competition and it was very messy.

While I don't agree with the poster, I am far more concerned about how the PCAs are handled.  If you are going to call yourselves the people's choice then you should probably let the people dictate what goes into the broadcast.  They obviously didn't and that is another 2 hours of my life I will not get back.  What a slap in the face to people who spent time on their website.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I agree. I won't be reading anymore articles written by BB. I found the comments in the article insulting and uncalled for. Post the results and keep your opinions out of it. You want to comment do it here with the rest of us

    ReplyDelete
  60. Did anyone watch the PCA?  Were Jensen or Jared there?  Who accepted the award?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  61. How do you know they weren't even invited?  I would think an invite would be par of the course for any nominee.  That just makes me mad and sad.  They got the win, they deserve the recognition.  Glad I didn't watch now!

    ReplyDelete
  62. huh?  Maybe that post should be deleted due to the addy?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Add in this 46 year old too.  As rehabber said...this show is about family first.  It's what drew us in and keeps us going back, whether the popular media give it any respect or not.

Simply put...you wanted your show to win, you should've voted more.  The Supernatural fandom is passionate and we made ourselves heard and I, for one, am proud!  :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I have no problem with the concept of voting multiiple times.  I just find it funny that people think this style of voting is skewed toward those techno minded "kids", when this 46 year old was voting her fingers off...along with many of my fellow SPN fans who are far from kids.  Bottom line: you wanted your show to win, you should've stepped up.  We did and it worked.  Bitching about it now is just really petty.

    ReplyDelete
  65.  Well, there you go, you have confirmed that everything is "hackable", so in the end maybe the multiple voting is the fairest after all.

I just want to reaffirm that the fact that the winners of the Best Drama Show were not even invited to the ceremony, where they could have been presented with both their Awards, was a disgrace.
It doesn't seem to me that the "people's choice" was respected at all.
If a CBS show had won they would have been crowing all evening!

Jensen and Jared seemed like two little Cinderellas in the video, not worthy enough to go to the Ball. The PCA should be ashamed of itself!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yay! So happy for all the cast and crew of Castle! Nathan's speech was hilarious. Well done guys! Now let's hope Stana gets nominated next year and they win the 3 categories ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Could not agree more!   Even the video feed for Jared and Jensen's accepatance vid was down last night, so we fans couldn't even get that much.   Shame on the PCA folks for the way they handled this!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Katy Perry winning an acting award... That girl is a singer who can't sing, and an actress who can't act. What's with all the recognition? It's no surprise she won, she's Katy Perry, fans are gonna vote for her, it's a surprise that she was even an option.

Too bad for Eva Longoria, she's really shown her acting chops over the last two seasons of DH. I have no idea who Nina Dobrev is, but she probably can't hold a candle to Eva.

    ReplyDelete
  69. In the other thread posted a link to an article about the oddity that is not broadcasting the Best Drama category... She seems to agree with you.

  70. happy for SPN.Too bad Jim Parsons didn't win the award

    ReplyDelete
  71. It seems that their  bodyguard Clif tweeted that the boys hadn't been invited and I suppose he would know, being with them most of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm so happy for Nathan Fillion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Castle!!! and NPH and HIMYM!!! :DDDD

    ReplyDelete
  73. Nina Dobrev plays 2 characters on The Vampire Diaries and is so good that I forget it is the same actress playing both roles, one a teenager, the other a 400 year old vampire.  She was not even nominated, it was a write in to get her into the final.  She is the first write in to ever make it and dang if she did not win.  GOOD GOING FANS

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have heard they were not even invited, they made a video thanking the fans and that was not even played on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I just put a poll up on PCA about the disgraceful way they handled the Best TV Drama, so if you want to tell them how you feel..please go vote and leave a comment.

    ReplyDelete
  76. From what I gather, the video acceptance was played during the pre-show.   I did see the announcement of the Sci Fi/Fantasy winner, which was done on tape by some group of actresses from another show (sorry, don't remember which one) and the acceptance video certainly wasn't shown then.   I think the way it was handled was a complete disgrace!

    ReplyDelete
  77. SPN <333
Gotta say I love HIMYM but i dont really laugh in it. I usually dont laugh in comedy O.O the best jokes are in my dramas ahaha

    ReplyDelete
  78. Just added my two cents.   I really hope they get the message.  The last thing you want to do is piss off the SPN fan base!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm happy for Nina Dobrev but she wasn't really nominated?!

    ReplyDelete
  80. No, in the nomination process she was not one you could just click on to vote, had to write her name in to get her to the finals.  She is the first write in to make it, SPN & TVD fans are AWESOME..ouch, hurt my arm, patting myself on the back. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well I'm pissed off and if it would not be cutting my nose off to spite my face, I would tell PCA to take their awards and shove it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. thats really awesome. good work from the fans :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. At least OUAT didn't lose that bad. I like Person of Interest, but would have wanted OUAT to win over it too.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I agree. I don't get people. They'd get all touchy if we tore into their show, but doing it to other shows is fine.

The fans of SPN who voted are faithful.

I believe there is no such thing as a horrible show. It's all opinion based. Same goes for great shows. Popularity doesn't make a show great and it doesn't make it horrible. It's all opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  85. pissed about all these wins like no one i voted for won :(

    ReplyDelete
  86. I saw this earlier and was a little unsure how I'd managed to upset someone in a post I'd had nothing to do with :P

    ReplyDelete
  87. the only way these polls could have remotely fair was only allowing one vote per person. it was a joke from the start.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I dont know... did you ever see "Cop Rock?" :)

  89. It used to be easy to do that. Old time cgi scripts would allow you to view the source of the page generated and the submit values would be right there for the taking. Then, you just pass the right value in a URL and your vote is cast. Something like:

    http://www.mysite.com/cgi-scripts/submit&vote=Supernatural

Then, you can easily write a batch that would send that again and again and again. However, now everything is hidden behind templates and binaries. I am sure hacker level people can do things, but I don't know of anybody that can.

So, many sites that allow multiple voting now just take the simple counter-measure of limiting the number of votes that come from an IP or IP range. Sometimes hosts that submit too many votes are locked out, sometimes the extra votes are just dropped on the ground. Both options are very simple.

Allowing multiple votes (with some simple filters to prevent bot voting) is a way that tiny shows can stand toe to toe with the big dogs occasionally. It allows a level of passion to enter into the equation.

Also, I don't understand why everybody believes that the only people that devote their lives to clicking that vote button are young. I am 49 years old and I voted for hours at a time (manually, thank you) every chance I got. I don't remember the exact pairings, but Supernatural drama was like 2nd from the right and Nathan Filion best actor was 2nd from the right... I would just click one, then click the next and on and one. Then, switch and vote for Supernatural Sci Fi 2nd from the left and Castle for Crime Show 2nd from the left... and on and on.

Besides myself I know that my 75 year old mother was voting a ton and she is retired. She would put an episode on and just vote all day. Of course, she voted in nearly every category for a couple of days before she found out that votes would count for just the categories that really interested her.

Some shows just generate a higher level of devotion. I think Supernatural's lack of promotion by the CW is the primary reason we fight so hard. However, when Supernatural loses and believe me we have lost many, it will never be because I didn't give it my all if the win will in any way generate more publicity for my show. That is why I lose sleep and irritate my family with my clicking... to get one more person interested in the show. I wouldn't want to deprive anybody of that opportunity.

  90. I love the surprise laugh at a tense moment. Those are my favorites... Though I do like Modern Family. But, if I miss it, I miss it. I'll just catch it later on a re-run. If I miss Supernatural, I am probably in the hospital.

  91. Everybody had the right to vote all day and all night, just like all of the other fans. I would have "liked" lots of shows to win, and I voted for all of them several times. However, I spent ages on my favorites. I didn't think they had a ;prayer to win (we have less than 2 million viewers), but I gave it my best shot. If you don't have 10million viewers AND a decent fan base, it is tough to win without some serious effort. If you really wanted someone to win, invest some time and word of mouth to get some support.

  94. Agreed.
Any poll that allows multiple votes is immediately categorized as meaningless by me.
