Barney and Robin Are Not Doomed: Let the angels sing, and the haters weep! Everything that HIMYM's big bosses said about Barney and Robin during this lunch leads me to believe this couple is the endgame. (There, I said it. And yes, I have completely fangirled out on you.) Now, I should also point out that in the current season finale, we will find out whom Barney marries (and it will be a flash-forward to the future). It's certainly not a slam-dunk that it's Robin, but it sure sounds like Carter and Craig are planning on Barney and Robin in the end.
When I asked Craig and Carter whether Barney and Robin cannot end up together because he wants kids and we know she does not want them, and does not have them, they were quick to defend the show's fan-favorite coupling.
"We don't look at that as a singular deal-breaker for Barney and Robin at all," Craig says, pointing out that "Barney wants to have kids in a very hypothetical sense. He thinks having kids will be cool. He made fun of that baby for pooping in its diaper. He may not be totally ready to be a dad. Barney, deep down, doesn't know what he wants."
Adds Carter: "Barney and Robin are so in love…They are doomed as a relationship in some ways because they are both so messed up. But part of this show is them taking themselves apart and rebuilding themselves. We're seeing them learn how to move past everything that screwed them up in the past and make this work for real."
"Make this work for real?" Ummm...Anyone else hearing the ding-dong of future wedding bells? Do not lead us astray, oh holy [narrator who never lies] Bob Saget!

Well, this just proved my point that I've said multiple times - Robin being infertile is not a dealbreaker! I said it wasn't and it fucking wasn't! I knew it!
ReplyDeleteShe is so the fucking Bride and I am convinced of this you won't believe.
Dos Santos isn't kidding when she wrote that she completely fangirled out. Some of the stuff she writes here comes off as something from a teen's tumblr page.
ReplyDelete"Barney and Robin are so in love" Yay!!! :D
ReplyDeletethis is certainly my ideal ending! thank you!
ReplyDeleteI can totally live with this if they do address the "Barney wants kids" thing :D yay Robin/Barney forever!!
ReplyDeleteThere's never been any doubt for me that B/R wouldn't end up together when all is said and done.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. I hate how she uses crazy shipper names and tries to come with new ones. And the way she uses FTW and Holler! and other annoying sayings. Though, that's just a preferential thing. :P I really hate FTW and Epic Fail, et al.
ReplyDeleteYes, this makes me so happy because I want Barney/Robin to be endgame soooooooo bad!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! That's so great! I'd really love to see them together in the end;)
ReplyDeleteI feel as though this was fairly obvious. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but am I wrong here? They (writers) needed a way to buy some time before whenever the two end up together hence the baby drama... it wasn't exactly subtle stalling, so I'm a little taken aback by all of the shock and awe and relief...
ReplyDeleteWhy all the cursing?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone explain to me the point of all this 'shipping' (my, what a dumb word)? HIMYM, Bones, NCIS, to name a few, 90% of the talk about these shows is who will end up with whom, like it's some bad soap opera, and like there is no other worthy content in series but that.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I was really excited at that point in time. Still am, actually.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me! I know the kids thing is going to be an issue, since it's becoming clearer that Barney really DOES want kids, even if he's not quite ready, but I think they'll work it out. It's love :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha, cute. But wouldn't it be artificial? Four of five group members ending up together? It's probably the biggest cliche in sitcoms, and not something HIMYM should be proud of. I'm actually for more diversity, brings freshness to the atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThat totally made my day. Thank you for posting. Robin is so going to be the bride. If not it would definitely destroy the show for me. I´m so in love with this couple and Barney marrying someone else would crush my heart.
ReplyDeleteIf Robin does'nt marry Barnacle, I'll stop watching the show. Just like I stoped watching 2 & 1/2 men when Charlie sheen left...
ReplyDeleteBarney & Robin, PLEASE!!!
thanks for the article :)
Really? Really? Sorry, but I just don't want this to happen. If B/R happen, plus Ted and Barney's sister (if that theory is true), this will easily be the most cliche crap ever.
ReplyDeletein sitcom world, Barney/Robin are the only thing that makes sense. I'm not a shipper but bringing in someone for Barney to marry, at this point, would be a fake out.
ReplyDeleteAt least Ted will marry outside of the group! And Lily and Marshall were together before the series even started, so I don't think they should count.
ReplyDeleteBarney's sister is just a red herring.
ReplyDeleteBarney and Robin.....always! <3
ReplyDeleteWell I dont like that its going to be a flash forward. If Ted meets the mother on Barneys wedding and if the wedding is only a flash forward, then I hope we wont only see a few minutes of how he met his mother and only the most important parts of them together or something. Really we need at least a season of Ted and the one together.
ReplyDeleteI hope it makes sence..
Agreed Amy, I will be very upset and disappointed if Barney/Robin end up together. That would be the worst ending ever. I am not a Ted/Robin fan but if I had to choose who she ends up with it makes more logical sense for it to be Ted and yes I KNOW SHE IS NOT THE MOTHER!!!! I just didn't feel like her relationship with Barney was genuine maybe because it lasted for like 6 episodes so it felt like a quick, fun hook-up.
