NBC’s Grimm is getting a foxy new cast member.
Bree Turner (who’s appeared on Fox’s Raising Hope and CBS’ Rules of Engagement) is joining the show in a recurring guest star role.
She’ll play Rosalee, a former drug addict and has been successful at staying clean. She comes from a long line of “Fuchsbau” (fox-like creatures) apothecaries (sort of like pharmacists). But she left the family business to pursue a career in the real world. A tragedy brings her back to Portland. Turner will be introduced in an upcoming episode called “Island of Dreams,” whose premiere date has not yet been announced.
Grimm airs Fridays at 9 p.m., here’s tonight’s logline: “When a man is found dead in a dumpster, the investigation leads to a sly snake and a timid mouse.” Hmm….

This is great, thank you! I think i will need to read the books,so you think it necessary before i start watching? If i'm bothering you don't have to answer now i cannot run out and buy them anyway, we have a snowstorm coming.... :)
ReplyDeleteThat was one of those much debated topics last year.
ReplyDeleteIs it better to read the books before or after watching Season 1?
There is SO much detail in the books, each being around or well over 1000-pages and it is easier to follow it reading it than on the TV series of course. There are a number of changes in the series that make it fresh for the book-readers.
Other people enjoy not knowing what is going to happen next watching the series and enjoying it like the typical TV series (not based on a book).
I'm not sure which is better since it really depends on the tpye of person each individual is I guess. I enjoyed the insight that the books gave me as I watched, but other people missed book scenes cut from the TV series, or disliked book plots that were changed in subtle ways to make for a more linear TV story.
Personally I think that even if a newbie read or watched all the supplemental materials (over 150 videos, all the interviews, all the graphics and charts etc), much of the symbolism and nuance of the books will be lost on the typical TV viewer that has not read the books. Being that I read the books first and consider that the real story, I think that the book knowledge enhances the TV series more than detracts from it....
I can also see that watching the series as a non-reader would be a VERY intense and thrilling ride not knowing what to expect next.
So I end saying I have no idea which is better! XD
Yikes. An apothecary is an unfortunate profession for an addict.
ReplyDeleteYeah its such an individual decision,i'm just scrambling trying to watch and understand everything before S2 starts...At least i know Stark and his family, including snow.that's a start.....What really amazed me was the map, with all the moving parts.I was transfixed just watching this, all i kept saying was wow.I can't begin to tell you the impression it made on me. :) .
