While promoting her new movie, One for the Money, Katherine Heigl discussed whether she'd ever be open to returning to Grey's Anatomy, and the answer may surprise you fans...
According to Heigl, she has already asked to come back on the show.
"I've told them I want to," Katherine tells us. "I don't know... Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that I mean she's got how many characters are there now? There's a lot and so she's balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don't know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."

ReplyDeleteyeah.. it is a good one, but Shonda once said she is open to see her again.. and you know? alex hasn't had a good storyline this season.. maybe izzie's his big storyline for the future, i dont know the final episodes? or maybe she could reapper in the season finale, anything is possible
ReplyDeleteMeh, I'm kinda over her, but on the other hand, Izzy was a great character, and it would be nice to see her pulling her shit together after her post-cancer breakdown. But it would be unfair for the other characters to see their screen time reduced.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she could return when Pompeo leaves so to keep the cast balanced. Either way, I hope that if this happens, Heigl returns with more humility and having learnt something.

ReplyDeleteI could go either way on her returning, sure I love her character and it would make it more like the previous seasons, but come on KH choose to leave and even though I appreciate her contribution to the show, but what true value would bringing Izzie back? Her and Alex and her would never get back together after all of that! Besides would her character be an attending or resident because she left?
ReplyDeleteShe would probably be an attending, because she applied to other hospitals to finish her residency. She didn't get Tacoma as stated by Derek in the episode she left, but she could have gotten another one.

ReplyDeleteThis has just made my day! I so love the character of Izzie, but please, if she really comes back let her stay away from Alex, because they're not meant to be. Izzie was meant to be with George, -I remember Shonda admitting this was their plan, until fans begged her for Izzie to stay with Alex-, so please, just give Alex some other storyline, and bring Izzie back to the show as she was in seasons 1,2,3 and 4 -because in seasons 5 and 6 she had a very poor writing-.

Although she was acting like a diva once upon a time, this is great news. Her characters was awesome. But even better is that Alex has the potential of finally being happy :)
ReplyDeleteSeason 5 gave her the cancer and the Emmy. That was the best Izzy storyline to date :)
ReplyDeleteWhile it's true season 5 gave her the cancer storyline -which I didn't really like because of all the awful Denny thing in which she -in my opinion- showed a different personality that she had in previous seasons, and she was rushed into marrying Alex and they clearly forgot her special friendship with George -although they saved it with the very last scene. She received the Emmy in 2007 for the third season episode about her daughter having leuchemia and her scenes with T.R. Knight. Anyway, it's my personal opinion :)

ReplyDeleteI always kinda liked Izzie, but the way Katherine left for being a huge movie star, like she was too good for the show and now she realizes that she was way more popular on the show than off, of course she wants back. If I were in Shonda's place, I wouldn't bring her back.

ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone being so negative regarding Katherine Heigl's decision to leave? Clearly at the time she didn't feel happy with the show. I remember her complaining about some storylines being sucky, which, let's face it, they kind of were. I hated when George and Izzie became romantically involved. That was horrible. Their awesome friendship was totally ruined. Did you guys liked it? Cos it sucked! She had every right to be unhappy about it. Not to mention that, even though the cancer thing was great, Denny being there almost killed it for me. Every single scene with that guy was so cheesy and uncalled for. Now she wants back. Why shouldn't she return, why shouldn't she be given a second go? She's a grown woman who can make all the career decisions she wants, and we need to respect them, instead of acting like little bitter children about it, when it's really none of our business. I, for one, look forward to seeing her back.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure she started going downhill for me when she and George had their hookup - and that was pretty early on. After their relationship tanked, I think she just got more and more grating, and I wasn't that upset to see her leave in the first place. So here's hoping she stays gone.

ReplyDeleteYou make a good point but in previous interviews she had stated that she didn't wish to return that she thought the storyline had played out so they'd be no point in bringing Izzie back again for one episode since they've already done that twice. I even remember her saying that she wasn't even watching GA anymore because she felt like she was missing out on the party.

ReplyDeleteI think its more about the whole not biting the hand that feeds you. Even if your unhappy with something doesn't mean you need to act entitled or ungrateful. I never had an issue with the character Izzie, and agree that some of the storylines sucked. If Shonda and the producers decide to bring her back fine, its just alot of the characters have moved on, in the GA world she's been gone for over 2 years, so would take a while for her to fit back in and with as many characters as there is now would there be enough time to show that storyline properly
ReplyDeleteFirst; I would really like Alex to get some real closure with her. I mean, that storyline dropped so fast that it felt almost unfair to the audience. Second; Katherine's movies are tanking and she is not the mega-movie star she thought she was. Of course she wants to come back to where she had it good. It just may be too late for her now. I guess that's what happens when your movie are the same movie every single time. (Girl meets guy. Girl hates guy. Extreme situation forces girl to work with guy. Girl and guy have a misunderstanding but then fall in love.)
