Winter-is-Coming has some minor casting news today as well as breakdowns of the directors for each episode of Season 2. Enjoy.

First, the casting news: according to this CV, Paul Kealyn will be playing the role of Weasel. Some further research reveals the character is in fact named Weasel and will be acting as a gaoler at Harrenhal. This looks to be Kealyn’s first television role.

*****UPDATE*****
Some further research reveals the character is in fact named Weasel and will be acting as a gaoler at Harrenhal. This looks to be Kealyn’s first television role.

The second find was this CV of actor Darren Killeen, who plays a Baratheon guard in two episodes. Of interest is the directors listed for those episodes. Assuming they are listed in respective order, then we now have enough info to piece together the director breakdown for season two. Ran at Westeros.org has done just that and provides this list:
Episode 1: Alan Taylor (confirmed to be present in Dubrovnik for episode 1 scenes)
Episode 2: Alan Taylor
Episode 3: Alik Sakharov
Episode 4: David Petrarca
Episode 5: David Petrarca
Episode 6: David Nutter
Episode 7: David Nutter
Episode 8: Alan Taylor
Episode 9: Neil Marshall
Episode 10: Alan Taylor

  2. Also for NFL fans, GRRM had a pretty cute and funny post earlier this week.
"Everyone in the Seven Kingdoms is excited about the NFL playoffs. The wildlings and the men of the Night's Watch and even some northmen are all pulling for the Giants, of course. But in the Vale of Arryn and the Mountains of the Moon, they're Falcons fans. The Lannisters are cheering on Detroit, even if the lion is the wrong color, but some of the smallfolk of Lannisport on its western bay are fond of those 49ers. The High Septon and all the septa and septons and devout of the realm are for the Saints. The butchers and tanners of King's Landing and Oldtown are behind the Packers, the smiths and armorers are with the Steelers. At the Citadel of Oldtown, the archmaesters and the Conclave are all about the Ravens, but across the narrow sea the khals and Dothraki horselords are screaming and whistling for the Broncos. In Volantis, the tigers are Bengals backers; the elephants are rooting for whoever plays the Bengals.Nobody anywhere knows what a 'Texan' is, but a few Dornishmen might support them anyway, just to be perverse. One commonality unites all the Seven Kingdoms, and the lands beyond. Everyone everywhere hates the Patriots, and Evil Little Bill."

  3. I think it is safe to say Blackwater is this season's most anticipated episode.

I expect big things, but not necessarily big battles honestly. I hope they can convey the impression of a city wide battle for life or death and it does not come off as small in scale as the Hand's Tourney did last season!

  4. I'm glad GRRM has done the script for it, I mean if he can't pull it of no one can!

  5. I wonder how long before we get episode titles. Probably wrong, but my feeling is that the first episode will be titled DRAGONSTONE

  6. That sounds like as good a title as any I can think of since a good portion of the premiere episode (or at least the first scene) should take place at Dragonstone. It and its residents will have a prominent role in the season so it would be a good title to start the season on.

  8. Casting this guy as Weasel will certainly change a few scenes from the book I think. Will Wease or the other Weasel still make appearances? And what happens to Weasel Soup? XD

  9. Oh, Darque...
But seriously they are probably trying to condense.
I can't believe they won't at least do 12 or 13 episodes, it would probably help with the pacing.
But I assume it's a super pricey show and there will be a growing post-production cost and timeline.
But still... a fan wants what a fan wants.

  10. True.

I am for the most part okay with changes made and NOT one of those that whines about eye color or horses being the wrong color. I do miss some little scenes that made me laugh etc, but I understand the process and frankly I'm not sure anyone could do a better job adapting GRRM's novels to a TV series.

  11. "Weasel?"  I guess if you have to play a guy named Weasel at least it's on a high-quality show like GoT.  There's a lot more dignity in that than, for instance, playing a guy named Boner on an eighties family sitcom.
