  2. not personally interested in anything CBS or FOX/ NBC, ABC and the CW have some interesting projects

  3. last resort, cult and the Kevin Williamson pilot.

  4. Well I have to say that there are a lot of dull sounding pilots listed there.  Hopefully they are not going to all be as dull as they sound...

    ReplyDelete
  5. ABC also has Ex-Comm.
    http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/01/abc-orders-ex-comm-to-pilot.html

  6. Yeah, there are a few there I will watch an episode or two to give them a chance, but nothing that gets me excited.

    ReplyDelete
  7. actually i think Ex-Comm has a put pilot and not ordered to pilot commitment meaning ABC will pay a fine if they dont order it to pilot

    ReplyDelete
  8.  Thanks for that, I wondered about Ex Comm too.

  10. ABC looks interesting, Midnight Sun and The untitled Karyn Usher project could be interesting but other than that it looks dull this year.

  11. >BEAUTY & THE BEAST: revival of the cult 1987-1990 series that aims to not only modernize and CW-up the love story but also add a procedural twistWell, that's just gibberish.

  12. It's just more of the same.
Rehashed story-lines of what has gone before, twisted around to make it seem different.

I really think the networks should all just jump a year, and the money they invest in these new pilots use it to upgrade the shows already airing.

Some of these pilots will never get  picked up, some will, and be axed in their first year without giving them a real chance to shine, and a couple of lucky ones will make it. Same all, same all!

The live tv audience is diminishing and if the networks continue to emit more and more shows onto the market the viewing audience for each show will just get lower and lower as it splits up to try and follow them all.

  13. All of the ABC + Frontier from NBC look interesting, because they well don't involve a Lawyer/Doctor/Crime Investigator-Hero like most of the others seem to do. Aren't there eroungh of those already or are some going to vanish? in either case, one or two new ones like these are quite sufficient...

  14. None of the NBC shows sound like something I would like.

I thought Kevin Williamson's project was on CW because when I first heard about it I said guess they need to change CW to KW. Did CW turn it down?

Am hoping Arrow will have Justin Hartley, I wanted a spin off from Smallville of Green Arrow, that would be awesome.

  15. I`m lightly interested in the untitled Karyn Usher project, the Gilded Lillys, Cult and The Frontier , maybe The Sherlock Holmes project as well, but I have to wait and see what they make out of the ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Exact same thoughts. I like the sound of most of those NBC pilots and ABC has some good stuff. CBS and FOX have dull sounding traditional procedurals.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So many buzzwords, yet such boring summaries.

    ReplyDelete
  18. some may workout some may not.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh yeah like the the remake of The Munsters will really do well. Please it will tank, why even bother airing it.

  20. FOX-all these sound crap

    CBS-boring

    ABC-

Antichrist reminds me of SPN it sounds like Sam Winchester 2.0

Gilded Lilies-Pan Am 2.0 the potential to be good butnever takes off.

    Last Resort-sounds good on paper

    CW-

    Arrow-yes please

    The Carrie Diaries-Gossip Girl 2.0

    Cult and B&B-sound like crap

    NBC-

Cancel everything and just pick up all new shows, anything goes at this point it really cant be any worse than what you've already got

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can't see NBC turning things around based on this lot. FOX ought to get some federal grant money based on their order. Cult on CW miiiiiight be good.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I like all ABC projects, none of Fox's, iffy on CBS, Carrie Diaries for the 80s setting only and if it's not too gossip girl, and The frontier

    ReplyDelete
  23. A few of these have potential to be good honestly, but even the most promising of these pilots have the potential to bomb as well.

I think the safest bet of the bunch is Arrow since you know what you will be getting with a CW superhero series for the most part.

All the cult or killer series intrigue me a little bit, but they could go either way easily.

    The rest? Yawwwwwwn.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Some of these have potential but a lot of new shows I've ended up loving this year I didn't really know about in advance

    ReplyDelete
  25. Some sound promising, but i am not holding my breath, and as for the Munsters.come on haven't you learn by now, ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  26. CW has some good shows except the Sex and City Prequel.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You know that the creativity in this industry is dead when the most interesting new series listed above is one from The CW....the only one that sounds even remotely interesting is CULT.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  29. Most shocking thing I've seen in any of these pilots is "add a procedural twist."  Seems like an oxymoron to me.  Plus, I'd rather just watch the original.  Even the Munsters sounds like a better remake and I can't see that one doing well either.

    ReplyDelete
  30. None of these are grabbing me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ABC is currently casting for Ex-Comm. So this means it was picked up to pliot. They just havent officially announce it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ex comm does have a pilot order.  Excellent.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The only interesting ones for me are: Antichrist and Arrow (sadly no Smallville spin-off)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Eh, some of these could have potential but it all sounds done before. I know it's one sentence and maybe it's not a good one but still. Guilded Lillys sounds like it'll try to copy what Downton Abbey has done in Britain, for one. That being said when the pilots that do get the set to air order, I will lok at the trailer/promo for each out of curiosity.

PS What is with nearly half of these being about the Devil or cults?!

    ReplyDelete
  35. They all sound awful... Here's hoping something better comes along. I like Kevin Williamson but yikes this all sounds miserable ESPECIALLY when compared to all the fab material on cable.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do No Harm. Brilliant neurosurgeon battles an alterego. Another Lost ripoff?

    ReplyDelete
  37. None sound that great, but some sound really bad. The ones like Kevin Williamson's serial killer show, and the idea behind Midnight Sun might be good... 1800s dramas CAN be good, but not usually on network tv.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No, it's always been tied to FOX.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Re:NBC If they cancel everything then I don't get my P&R fix, and then I'm coming FOR YOU.

    :D

    ReplyDelete
  40. FOX has a horrible slate of new shows from these descriptions
CBS has a horrible slate of new shows from these descriptions
    NBC's Beautiful People sounds interesting
CW's Arrow, Beauty and the Beast and Carrie Diaries sound promising to me (for that network...good variety of shows)

But ABC definitely has the strongest and most diverse slate so far and all them sound interesting, promising and different

I'm intrigued to learn more about Antichrist, I like how Ex-Comm focuses on the committee, The Gilded Lillys sounds really cool (if done right), Last Resort sounds like an interesting idea, and 666 Park Ave. sounds absolutely awesome! They really do pick some of the most interesting scripts

    ReplyDelete
  41. If I find a synopsis that has words: New York, brilliant, advertising executive, lawyer/doctor/cop, I'll shoot someone. Why can't I see something like 'mediocre office supplies salesman from Mobile, Alabama turns out to be a good listener of various stories of people he encounters on his daily job'. No brilliancy, no nuthin', just good old stories of people like us and human relationships. Viewers will get dizzy of all the New York brilliancy

    ReplyDelete
  42. The project by Kevin Williamson sounds like one I might like and I'd also give the Beauty & the Beast a try ... although ... why order a pilot for two shows with the same title on two different networks? Oo That kinda confused me. The ABC version sounds better to me so far, though. (Well. It's a one-sentence-summarya. But still)

All in all, I'm not too impressed with this list.

Oh, and The Carrie Diaries ... please no. Not just because of the stupid title.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Quite fancy "Last Resort."
I've always been a fan of submarine stories, plus it seems sort of post- apocalyptic too. Hmm!

I love Sherlock Holmes, and although I don't hold out great hopes for how the CBS will present it, I'd give it  try.

NBC Beautiful People" should draw me in but somehow it doesn't. Have to wait and see.

    Green Arrow---Maybe!
    That's about it.

    Absolutely no lawyer/ doctor/ family/teen/hospital/Sex in the City/CSI spin-offs. Enough already!

    ReplyDelete
  44. So far i haven't been wowed with anything that is has been green lighted..I will course try some but boy, between this past year and whats coming upi don't have much faith in anything!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think Beautiful People sounds really good.

    ReplyDelete
  46. NBC: Beautiful People sounds really good! I love science fiction & this one has an interesting concept. Midnight Sun has an interesting concept as well.

CW: Arrow sounds really good, I love comic book hero/super hero shows. Beauty & Beast sounds good as well, love stories are awesome & it'll be interesting to see how they add a procedural element. Cult sounds amazing & The Carrie Diaries sounds like it could be an awesome teen drama.

ABC: Beauty & the Beast sounds amazing! I love shows (like Once Upon a Time) with fairytale characters!

FOX: Untitled Kevin Williamson project sounds really good! He always has amazing shows, his shows on the air now are really good.

CBS: Not interested in any of the pilots.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It's interesting that ABC has such a fascination with the Devil.  After they cancelled Pushing Daisies, I always did suspect the two were in league.

    ReplyDelete
  48. All depends on who is in them. - as of right now, none of them or extremely interesting. wonder whose up for the carrie diaries....

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jeez, they sound crap! The Frontier sounds OK-ish, but the rest?!

    ReplyDelete
  50. elementry sounds awful .. CBS should just pay the bbc for sherlock, then they may have the budget to make more then 3 episode seasons :D

    ReplyDelete
  51. No, they would ruin the show. 3 episodes, though upsetting and too short, is a fantastic amount of episodes for making very tight and well thought out stories. Start diluting that and we'll see the quality decrease :P.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I just finished reading 2 of Karin Slaughter's books, Georgia series to be exact, and my oh my .. talk about a book that works as a TV procedural .. some channel should really consider adopting this series to TV audience..

    ReplyDelete
  53. So are ABC and the CW both doing a new Beauty and the Beast show? Some timing if so...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Shouldn't the post title read "Drama Pilots Ordered By The 3 USA Networks and 2 Netlets?
Or are CW and NBC still considered networks??

    I kid! I kid!

I like these early production lists, but last year I got excited about too many pilots that never got made or did not get picked up after they were made! I think this year I will try to not pay too much attention so I don't get annoyed when my favorites aree not picked up to series.....

    ReplyDelete
  55. Nashville? Is this not the same show the CW passed on a few seasons a go?

The Frontier also sounds familiar, I'm not sure but I think this one is carried over from last season's potential list for NBC or was it ABC?

    ReplyDelete
  56. 2 new ones at ABC (Zero Hour & Gotham) sound a bit more interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Really there's no such thing as an original premise anymore, originality comes in the details and the style, which don't show up in these short synopses. About half of these I read and think 'that could be really good if done right,' hopefully at least a few of them will be.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Nashville? Is this not the same show the CW passed on a few seasons a go?

    I thought the same.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm iffy on a lot of these. There are 9 I'll check out, but expect to only like two or three at most.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ABC has a lot of dramas and comedies ordered, and almost every single show they ahve is doing well, and some others haven't even premiered yet.
