Dexter - Showtime Chief: Show Could Go Beyond 2 More Seasons

Showtime just made a deal for two more "Dexter" seasons that were widely expected to bring the series to its end -- but Showtime entertainment president David Nevins says he reserves the right to keep the show going beyond that.

"This is the likely endpoint, but I'm leaving open the possibility that plans could change," he said at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. He also hinted that going forward on the show, Dexter may not be "such a lone wolf."

    Hmm.  Its not often such a devoted fan base is so loud about WANTING their show to end.  I say if the writing is good and the stories compelling let it keep going.

    Bingo.  The show is still brilliant.  Why end something that's better than 95% of TV?  The fans obviously don't want it to end - see ratings.

    I'm torn! Season 1,2 and 4 were incredible... 3,5 and 6 have been fairly weak IMO. I wouldn't be too down if they did end it soon. A show needs to end with pride, you know? At the same time, I love Dexter so much. It's one of my favourite shows of all time and I'd never want it to end... :| I guess it should for the greater good.

    Don't do it Dexter.  I know the ratings keep going up but the quality doesn't.  Don't overstay your welcome just to fatten a few wallets.

    The last 2 seasons were such a letdown compared to the first 4. The fans that really know what good writing and TV are want an end before it gets really lame and drawn out.

    I don't think the show should end after season 7 is done. But that's what I think now, it depends actually how good season 7 will be.
