    How did the series progress as the season went on?

    I tried the first 3 episodes I think and it never quite grabbed me and I forgot about it when Game of Thrones began.

    Every episode was a toss up for me, one week, was good, the next decent, then meh... do you have Showtime On Demand? If so, just check out the episode, I find they are better when you can just fast forward
