"Bones" creator Hart Hanson says he's very confident the procedural will be back for an eighth season.
The show, one of Fox's most consistent performers, would focus next season on lead characters Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) raising a child together, he said.
Asked if he wanted the show to return after this season, he responded, "Oh hell yes. ... I'm very confident that we'll come to an agreement and have an eighth season of 'Bones.'"
He said the "Bones" team is already planning an eighth season that will focus on his lead characters starting their family after years of a will-they-or-won't-they dynamic.
"We're all excited about it and have story ideas," he said. "Putting Booth and Brennan together raising a child, as far as we're concerned, reinvigorated our series. I wouldn't want to try to figure out how to do another year of them not being together.
"I think there's still very, very good stories to be told. ... There's an infinite amount of murders. So when I say stories, I mean stories that our characters generate.

So glad Emily Deschanel got pregnant, leading to the storyline this season. Cannot wait for the rest of the season!
ReplyDeleteAny reason to get and KEEP Booth and Brennan together is a "win" in my book.
ReplyDeleteI hope they get married.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely can't wait to see them as parents.. it's going to be a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a good idea. Since there is no sexual tension between Booth and Brennan anymore, its just another dull procedural drama about cases.
ReplyDeleteBtw - this is the very reason of why Castle and Beckett shouldnt get together for at least 2 more seasons.
Often in shows the TENSION between two characters is better than them being together, but I'm happy to say that I think B/B together is just as interesting and entertaining as watching them dance around each other. They still have the same humorous banter and they're so different as people that it keeps it interesting - they didn't turn into sappy caricatures of themselves as soon as they got together, which helps. I'm actually looking forward to seeing season 8 and seeing how that dynamic translates into parenthood.
ReplyDeleteThey'd been considering the idea, but her pregnancy solidified it.
ReplyDeleteIf they had put off Booth/Brennan for another season, it would have sucked. I'm glad they didn't go that way.
ReplyDeleteYup, I heard that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and I think a lot of people would have become disinterested with the show. I would have stuck by it, because one thing I love about Bones is the really strong support system the show has - Emily and David aren't the only great thing about it. But after all the push and pull the writers have put fans through, another roadblock might have frustrated people enough to give up on it entirely.
ReplyDeleteI was initially worried about the transition, but I think they did a great job of sliding them into a relationship. They still banter as much as they did when they were apart, share their own vehement opinions (which more often than not aren't the same), but have the added benefit of going home together at the end of the day. They didn't become disgustingly sappy and boring, and I think the writers did a great job. I know I'm happy with the way things turned out!
ReplyDeleteI think their was so much hype about the pregnancy, and what is going to happen that by the time the show started in Nov.some of us were a little let down. I'm not saying they let us down but the waiting just made it more then what it was.I'm not sure that came out right...
ReplyDeleteI too still enjoy the show, every thrusday night i have a date with my tv,remote in hand! :)
Reinvigorated the series? Maybe the writers feel that way but I haven't seen that reflected in the episodes yet. It has added an interesting new wrinkle to the show but I would not go so far to say that the entire series has been reinvigorated.
ReplyDeleteI disagree because I think the acting and writing on Castle are so much better. Just compare how they've handled the relationship so far...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad TV may finally be getting a consistent couple yay!
