American Horror Story - Season 2 - More Theories

1 Jan 2012

CLUE? In the opening sequence, we saw Newhart on Constance’s television. THEORY! Bob Newhart’s second sitcom was set at a small New England inn. Might be too small for American Horror Story – but I am tickled by the idea of a Psycho-esque story at the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast in Fall River, Massachusetts. (Another Mass. theory in a second.)

CLUE? The little girl dolls in the Murder House basement, also seen during the prologue. THEORY! American Horror Story 2.0 will reside in Wisconsin, home to the American Girl doll company. The nation’s cheesehead capitol allegedly has “more ghosts per square mile than any other state in America.” As for exact locations, there’s Summerwind, the state’s most haunted house, or – on a bleaker tip — the terrifying farmhouse of one America’s most infamous homicidal maniacs, Ed Gein, whose grisly atrocities have inspired fictional monsters like Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Jame Gumb (The Silence of the Lambs). Or so Wikipedia tells me.

CLUE? Billie Dean Howard’s story – told visually — about the lost colony of Roanoke. THEORY! Ergo, next season will take place somewhere in Dare County, on the North Carolina coast, perhaps inside a beach house-turned-mental asylum for women lined with Yellow Wallpaper. Too on the nose, if you ask me. (BTW: Would love to see kooky Billie Dean — and her Lifetime show — in the future. Maybe next season will transpire within a haunted Hollywood studio?)

CLUE? The Massachusetts license plate on Ben’s vehicle with an October expiration date. The digits: “14Z Q83.” THEORY! Perhaps next season –which is likely to begin in October — will be set in Salem, Mass., site of a true American horror story, The Salem Witch Trials. Then again, there was a lot of talk about Harvard University in the last couple episodes of the season. Perhaps season 2 will be set at some haunted dormitory… or inside some mysterious building on the fringes of the campus, just down the hallway from Walter Bishop’s lab.

  3. I don't know if anyone here has been out to Dare County, but outside of the city on the mainland before you go to Roanoake Island there's MILES and MILES of nothing but forest, swamps, and trees. (And alternatively nothing but huge cotton fields)...When you get to the Alligator River (which is really really wide...) there's a 7-mile stretch that is known for bears (and has "Watch for Bears" signs posted)...There's a lot of ramshackle shacks on the side of the road, and occasionally a dirt road that goes completely perpindicular to the main road, and it looks as though it never ends.

That area right before the coast has always freaked me out when we drive by. And for there to be a haunted house or a haunted inn on Roanoake Island (maybe in Manteo or over on Nag's Head south of Kitty Hawk) would be an amazing place to have season 2...So much potential for creepy shots and pretty outdoor shoots as well.

  6. LOL, yes. I was looking at another post and saw that there was a new comment, and was thus interested!

Seriously, that was a pretty interesting story!

  7. Here's a photograph titled "Mist over the Alligator River"

Just picture driving about an hour or so through this...

  8. Thanks! That is creepy yet terrifying at the same time. Would be scary to drive through.

Definitely want to go now, though!

  9. I love the clues, the second and the fourth clue are my favorite choice and I hope Ryan pick up one of this clues.

  10. Really - I always kind of liked the drive through Dare Co as it definitely wasn't boring, that being said I probably wouldn't camp there unless we were at one of the main stretches further along (Kitty Hawk, Ocracoke, etc)

  11. You should - lots of quiet beaches and ferry only islands.  Good fishing and beautiful sunrises.  If you like to camp, there are tons of state parks that cost next to nothing to stay at.

  12. Wow! Now I want to go too. Maybe I'll run into klutzy girl there.

  13. I'm still catching up or i should say trying to...even so interesting clues!  Thanks for posting!  :D

  14. There are also several historic lighthouses on the NC coast :)

  15. Historic (possibly haunted) lighthouse sounds fascinating!

  17. I enjoy (well...sort've...I don't like open water much) going over all the bridges and seeing the wildlife and Manteo as we go through...but I've always thought "man I'd hate to be stuck in this place" every time I pass through there. There's even a big open area with these 4-7 large trees that are kind've twisty and (beautifully) creepy looking, surrounding the leftovers of a house that burned down a long time ago.

And the small, wooden white churches with the tiny cemetery in the middle of nowhere...it's all just a little too bare to me. Of course keep in mind, I'm talking about the sparsely populated Alligator River wildlife reserve...

  18. It's kind of pretty in a rustic way ... wouldn't want to drive through at night though since there's nothing really around and cell reception sucks bad though a lot of it.  I'm terrified of heights so the bridges actually freak me out more than the swamps ... going over the Inlet requires a sedative of some type - usully liquid variety.

There's also a few places in Va like that too ... you just drive as quickly as possible without attracting attention but keep the window up so you don't hear the banjos in the distance to freak you out.

  19. Not sure if any are haunted although I'm sure the locals wouldn't mind the PR ... they also find old ships off of the coast so there's lots to do in the Outer Banks.  Plus you can get one of those oh so popular OBX stickers everyone and their brother seems to have.

  20. How is it in the winter? I mean, for maybe a February vacation?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Probably too cold for any camping or scenery ... but spring/fall would be great.  For February, I'd hve to recomend Cozumel :)

  22. Any one of those potential stories sound fine to me.  I am intrigued by what they might come up with.

  23. The water is cold in june when I usually go there...

  24. OK. Summertime in Dare County. Cozumel in my dreams :)
