  1. JJ Abrams has been trying, ever since LOST ended, to find the perfect blend of procedural and serialized drama... I think Fringe is the best of such attempts yet (I consider PoI more procedural than serialized)

  4. Finally the press and info on the show are whetting my appetite rather than scaring me.  The paradigm of the show isn't knew  so it will all hinge on the characters for me, but that's something that JJ Abrams did exceptionally well with Lost (especially during the first season)

  5. This makes me feel good about the mythology aspect.

  6. Well Alias was pretty good at doing both too, but I think the audience wasn't ready for mythology-serialized tv at that point, but I agree FRINGE went about it the right way and I think if they stick to that format, it will be classic Bad Robot. I like POI a lot, but it's taking it's time telling it's story and that's fine, because I think so far the story is worth it.

  7. Hmmm, I'm concerned about all this 'things happening in the background that come up later' business,  I loved it on Lost to begin with, but it didn't have a satisfying ending to it all for me.  I hope he's taking the Arrested Development way of doing it this time, and have a reason that ties in tightly with the plot rather than just for the Easter Egg aspect of it.

  9. yes, PoI maybe a procedural, but I think it's brilliant. I have huge respect for Jonathan Nolan as a writer and I can say there is not one episode of PoI that I did not like. I hope Fringe was at least doing as good as PoI in the ratings.
