THE INFAMOUS PRISON COMES TO LIFE ON THE TWO-HOUR SERIES PREMIERE OF "ALCATRAZ" MONDAY, JANUARY 16, ON FOX

"Detective Rebecca Madsen" (Sarah Jones) and Alcatraz historian "Doctor Diego Soto" (Jorge Garcia) team up with a secret agency that is dedicated to finding and catching inmates from the infamous prison who went missing 50 years ago and are reappearing today. The special task force includes Sam Neill as "Emerson Hauser" and Parminder Nagra as "Doctor Lucy Banerjee." Then, when a sniper begins targeting young victims, the team is forced to retrace the steps of the past in order to solve this modern day mystery on the special two-hour series premiere "Pilot/Ernest Cobb" episode of ALCATRAZ airing Monday, Jan. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (ALC-101/102) (TV-14 L, V)

Cast: Sarah Jones as Detective Rebecca Madsen; Jorge Garcia as Dr. Diego Soto; Sam Neill as Emerson Hauser; Parminder Nagra as Lucy Banerjee; Robert Forster as Ray Archer; Jonny Coyne as Warden Edwin James; Jason Butler Harner as Associate Warden ED Tiller.

Guest Cast: Jeffrey Pierce as Jack Sylvane.

    Anyone happen to see any good stills or caps of the Alcatraz escaped cons from previews etc? Like the mugshots the team has on their case wall....

    I've been looking for some with little luck and can;t get a good cap myself.

    Still trying not to get my hopes up over this in case I'm disappointed but I am looking forward to Jorge back on my TV! His very brief appearance in Fringe last season and on Mr Sunshine really made me miss him.

    I had the same fear initially and I'm not quite past that feeling just yet....

    The article I read mentioned a hybrid series with both COTW and Serial elements in every episode. That would be enough for me... I think. I'm not sure about you I guess.

    If it can be like Kyle XY, where the show-creators come from... I think it may be a perfect hybrid with good weekly serial elements. I hope!

    I'm not going to watch until there are about six or so episodes and watch them all back to back to make a good solid opinion about if I am going to continue, some shows take awhile to gel but I can always seem to tell around the 6th episode if the show is for me or not

    That's probably a good plan.

    I can generally tell if I like a show after 3 episodes, but sometimes within the next 2-4 episodes I lose interest despite liking it.  If the serial element does not kick in by then I guess I can phase out since repetitive nature of procedural TV series can annoy me.

    Well, Fringe was initially concieved as a COTW show with an overarching story and it's evolved into a show centered on its mythology... I guess they decide that along the way depending on the elements that turn out to be more succesful or satisfactory.

    I'm excited too but I don't want to get my hopes up either... The two new shows I was most excited about this year have been very disappointing (Terra Nova and Person of Interest)...

    Yep and the ones that have impressed me the most came out of nowhere for me like Homeland. So expectations low for this hoping it will pull a Fringe and get stronger as it goes on.

    Agreed.
    I think Fringe lost its identity and many of its fans in Season 2 as it was deciding which way it wanted to go... Serial or Procedural. Then when it went almost full-on Serial in the second half of Season 3 it hit its stride. that was definitely the best the series has been in my opinion.... by far!

    I was sad to see it go back to the COTW stuff so heavily when the year started. Even if I understood they really had no choice since without Peter they could not access the myth arc.
