Alcatraz - looks to premiere to Terra Nova like numbers but Betty White's new series beats it!

Cancelled Shows
Early ratings indicate Alcatraz's series premiere ratings will be around the same as Terra Nova's premiere (perhaps 6% higher) while Betty White's new half hour series looks to be a breakout hit for NBC

Huh.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? People love Betty white.
ReplyDeleteI can't comment on Betty Whites new show,is she actually in it?
ReplyDeleteI am glad Alcatraz started well, hope those numbers continue.
ReplyDeleteAs for Betty White? Not really interested.
Sorry but I have no idea what were the TN numbers... Anyone could help me out?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by TN?
ReplyDeleteI think it premiered with around 9-10 million viewers, with a 3.0-3.2 18-49 rating.
ReplyDeleteTerra Nova. I thought I would be obvious. Should stop being lazy...
ReplyDeleteThanks. Well I guess we have to wait and see where it goes from there...
ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, the series premiere of Fringe was modest (around 9 million viewers and a 3.2 in the demo), but the following week got dramatically higher ratings (around 13 million viewers and 5.2 in the demo). Maybe this'll do something similar.
ReplyDeleteI reckon a 2.4-2.8 and a steady decline over the coming weeks.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Alcatraz would get at least 15 million viewers. These 10 million viewer premieres make it tough for a show to last multiple seasons. The show will pick up some viewers but probably lose a lot more that just watched for the hype and won't get hooked.
ReplyDeleteIt might do. All of those people from NBC probably won't be there next week so they've gotta go somewhere. Hopefully Acatraz's ratings will get better, it surprised me how good it was.
ReplyDeleteNo surprise Betty got the ratings to me...
ReplyDeleteI keep saying that there are a lot more viewers beyond the coveted golden demographic of 18-45.
Older viewers watch more TV than younger viewers and watch more live TV than younger viewers. I will never understand why networks continue to ignore them and make so many shows skew younger than they need to!
Terra Nova is a BIG SHIT don't compare it with Abrams Alcatraz
ReplyDeleteConsidering the massive amount of advertising done for Alcatraz this is not good. Waiting to see if it held its audience in second half, I tried but started nodding off. Every cliche from both police and scifi genres incorporated into a very predictable and not very challenging script.
ReplyDeleteI think it hit 14 million and had a 4.2 or something like that.
ReplyDeleteIt will matter what happens in that episode too, because that episode of Fringe wasn't really that great either.
It actually stayed almost level through both hours in the overnights.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear about Alcatraz.
ReplyDeleteyay Betty White!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're thinking of the 18-34 demo. It hit a 4.5. I'm talking about the 18-49 demo. Here's a page that explains:

I have a ton of respect for Betty White--old as dirt and still doing it up with guts and humor!--but I'm trying to imagine any series she'd come up with that could be as good as "Alcatraz," and I can't do it.
ReplyDeleteIt's strange how close I was on the 18-34, but no that's not what I was thinking of. I never think of that demo. I was just plain wrong. lol
ReplyDeleteI can't believe to this day that Fringe got a 5.2 18-49 rating. It makes it even worse when last week's got a 1.1...
:(
Punk'd for geriatric tricksters sounds pretty good to me. But, I suppose still not as good as Alcatraz.
ReplyDelete:( indeed.
