The Vampire Diaries - Rebekah’s return

Elena's back-stabbing ways may come back to haunt her on The Vampire Diaries.

In the CW series' midseason finale, Elena (Nina Dobrev) proved that she, too, was capable of killing when she stabbed and killed Rebekah (Claire Holt) as she prepared for the homecoming dance. But since when has being dead stopped a vampire?

"We haven't seen the last of Rebekah," executive producer Julie Plec tells TVGuide.com. "The fact that Elena killed Rebekah is going to come back to bite her in the butt."

When the series picks up in January, not only does the Original sister return in a flashback, but she also makes her presence felt in the present day.

"I'm not going to say when she makes her reappearance, but certainly her being undaggered is not in Elena's best interest," Plec teases.

    Considering they didn't even accomplish what they wanted at Homecoming it's only going to be worse that Klaus and Rebekah will team up. Please bring Elijah back, we miss him and his blood Capri-Sun =P

    One would hope Rebekah would be understanding but that certainly won't be the case! But she's sort of grown on me so I don't mind a return.

    I can't help but sympathize with Rebekah on this one.  rip away her trust in her brother, let her open up, share a touching moment then WHAM knife her in the back.   Has anyone mentioned the name of the nearest town to Mystic Falls?  Elena might want to consider going there.
