Update: 23:57
Specifically, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. TV says that Collins will appear as a guest star in Episode 17 as well as in “at least two additional episodes” beyond that — though not necessarily as fallen angel Castiel.

Update: 23:50 Misha Colins to Return for Three Episodes
From TV Guide
Misha Collins will be returning to #Supernatural! Story coming soon...
We'll post more as we get it.

Yay! So freaking excited!
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for the moment I would come here and see THIS title! And it's finally here! : )
ReplyDeletegreat news!!!!
ReplyDeleteTV Overmind has the details: http://www.tvovermind.com/supernatural/supernatural-spoilers-misha-colins-to-return-for-three-episodes/110495
ReplyDeleteHALLELUJAH. though I'm going to cling to the hope that he'll be back for more than 3 :(
ReplyDeleteis he comming back as cas or a ghost i hope he is still an angel
ReplyDeleteYESSS!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY I COULD CRY!
ReplyDeleteI am so freaking happy!!!
ReplyDeleteFor all the fans insulting Sera Gamble!!
ReplyDeleteWho cares ? I'm tired of the whole Castiel/Misha matter and never liked him in the first place so this news does not make me feel glad !!
ReplyDeleteI'm a season and a half behind. (oops.) BUt I still recognize this is good news. Misha's great on the show.
ReplyDeleteWe'll just see Jimmy Novak trying the arm-in-boiling-water trick again and then get carted off to the burn ward.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe his twin brother Timmy.
dislike!!
ReplyDeleteSo if he isn't Castiel, then I guess he'd be Cas' human host, Jimmy?
ReplyDeletewho knows but it may not castiel exactly they are saying. im guessing a ghost or maybe after the leviathan escaped maybe his soul or entire angel being got trapped in purgatory, he did after all open the door right when the leviathan was breaking free.
ReplyDeleteor maybe he'll have just been reincarnated - no memories of his time as an angel. not entirely reborn, like Anna was, but just kind of placed back on earth for a do-over.. I could just imagine the boys' faces randomly running into him on the street somewhere haha
ReplyDeleteMisha How I have missed you so!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see how they are going to explain his return, but it'll be good to see Cas again. For some reason, I'm wondering if his return will be towards the season's end
ReplyDeleteWho knows at this point? Maybe the clouds are gathering anticipating not being renewed and they are starting to get their "series finale" ducks in a row.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's a Leviathan? I'm drawing blanks!
Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it has to do with a series finale. Too early. The ratings aren't great, but they are fairly steady. Probably next season, though.
ReplyDeleteOh my god yes!!! I am away for a day and a half and this happens? :D I should stay away from the internet more often!
ReplyDeleteI think Jimmy's got to be dead by this point. My guess is Dick gets hold of some of Cas/Jimmy's DNA and takes his shape to mess with S/D.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural has been arguably the CW's 3rd best show in ratings this season.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds plausible.
ReplyDeletei can't even begin to describe how happy i am <3 buuuuuuuuut.... i REALLY hope he'll come back as cas and IN present time.. like no time traveling or anything :)
ReplyDeleteJust FYI...his name is spelled MISHA Collins
ReplyDeleteOh, this is wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that he'll come back as a fallen angel, as punishment for his soul-induced power trip. Tha way he wouldn't really be "Castiel, Angel of the Lord," but he'd still be Cas.
ReplyDeleteyeah, I'm pretty sure Jimmy's done for.. there's no way he could have survived all that.. but I hope we get Misha back in a happy context - he went pretty dark there for a while.. but who am I kidding? I'm just happy to have him back
ReplyDeleteI think it said his first appearance back would be in episode 17, so you're right about that
ReplyDeleteI would think they all had a little bit of Jimmy/Castiel. They haven't learned how to reproduce yet, have they? I can't remember. All the Leviathans present would have been inside Castiel. That would be crazy, Chris.
ReplyDeleteReproduce? I don't think that's been addressed.
ReplyDeleteThere is no proof or evidence that it is Cas.
ReplyDeleteWhat I want: Misha IS Castiel somehow and Dean finally admits to his love for the angel XD
ReplyDeleteI was never really a fan of Cas, but hey, I must have been more of one than I thought cause Im overjoyed at this news! God job Supernatural!
ReplyDelete*facepalm* Yes, because he's SO in love with an angel who tore down the wall in Sam's mind and has pretty much ruined his little brother who now suffers from hellucinations as a result. Yep, any older brother who loves and protects their little brother would fall on their knees at the betrayal of a friend and admit his undying love and devotion. *rolls eyes* I swear... this is not what this show is about and the sooner you people get that through your heads, the better.
ReplyDeleteIts what she wanted, she didnt say it was going to happen...
ReplyDeletelol if all the leviathans have a little castiel and can turn into castiel then maybe in the season finale we got a fight like Matrix with the brothers againt many Castiels XD
ReplyDeleteThis is what I'd like to see. Cas's story didn't seem finished yet. I want to see him face what he did and the Winchesters again.
ReplyDeleteLikewise pukes
ReplyDeleteYAY! I hope now we will get to give Cas/Misha a proper goodbye. That's all I want at this point.
ReplyDeleteThis is serious business y'all!!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously ladette, calm your horses, Courtney was being facetious as the "XD" implies.
And honestly, you are giving SamGirls a bad name.
My fannish part is all "OMG YAY PLEASE!!!" But cause we know that ain't happening, I at least want to see a more real resolution to the Dean/Cas friendship and trust issues. We haven't really seen Dean move on, Cas was one of his best friends, maybe his only friend, and how they adressed that has been certainly lackluster.
ReplyDeleteIt bothers me when characters get offed but their deaths lack true meaning for the cast. That's why I love Whedon so much, that sadistic bastard knows how to kill 'em characters.
Like!! times a million.
ReplyDeleteI never want to see Castiel again.
I never liked how much screen time/plot Cas took away from the Winchesters (it seems like Sam often got pushed aside for Castiel's plots/scenes with Dean) - though I DO like Cas. I was sad when he "died" but in a way okay with him going because Sam is feeling more and more like a support character rather than a main character and at least with Cas gone it's one less excuse to put Sam's POV/stories on the back burner (though it hasn't stopped them anyway). They keep telling us the second half of the season will FINALLY address Sam's arc, which has been disregarded to focus on Dean's emo arc the beginning of this season - but now I'm afraid that the second half of the season will end up being The Dean and Cas show and Sam will be let without ANY resolution to his story or and POV about what he's gone through/feeling/thinking. :(
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice to see Misha back. Hopefully he's back as Cas.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm pleased to see Misha make an appearance as (possibly) Cas again, I too am tired of the whole Castiel/Misha drama.
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never, best news I have had in a long time. BTW Supernatural is up for Top 10 TV Dramas, so go vote, we are not doing very well.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/best_of_2011_vote_top_10_tv_dramas/278483
Misha Collins is a guy, Mischa Barton is a girl. Let's try to keep their names straight. ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish this wouldn't always be turned into a Sam vs Cas competition. Sam's storytelling hasn't improved in the past eight episodes that Cas was gone. The writers are either interested in telling Sam's story or they're not. A lot of shows manage to successfully tell the stories of several main characters without problem. Personally I'd like to see more Sam/Cas interactions if Cas is returned. I think Sam would have a lot of questions about Lucifer, Hell, what's going on in his mind, and faith that a friendly angel could answer. Cas could have been written as equally interested in Dean and Sam, but the fact that he had shown an interest in mostly Dean is a sign of a problem with the show that is bigger than Cas.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more with this comment.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to see Cas returned just to die. I'd rather he not return if that's the plan.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's great for all the Castiel fans that have been complaining all season about being no mention of him; I personally don't care & think the season is going great without him.
ReplyDeletePersonally I was glad when the Castiel and angel story line ended so I'm hoping for this to be a small flashback or a Cas death finale scene that was missing earlier. The character definitely deserves a better ending. In the end though,if I have to choose between having Cas or having Bobby there is no question. More Bobby please.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, was that supposed to be an insult? I was just expressing my own opinion. If you don't like it, then don't read it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy is this Cas vs Bobby?
ReplyDeleteI don't mean it as a competition, just pointing out that if the writers are planning on having Misha back for three eps, that's likely three less eps potentially devoted to the promised Sam arc. And since we're about halfway through the season and STILL haven't resolved Dean's arc, it just looks like the potential to deliver on the promised resolution to Sam's issues is getting whittled down more and more. Not that I'm surprised.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see some Sam/Cas interaction as well, but only so Sam can confront Cas about destroying his wall and screwing him over. I don't really see Cas as "a friendly angle" in regard to Sam, considering what Cas did to him. That's just my personal view on it LOL. :)
Oh, god, something else just occured to me... What if they bring Cas back just long enough to "fix" Sam and THAT'S the 'resolution' to his issues? If that happens I will be SO PISSED. But not at all shocked. UGH. I just want some Sammy POV! Please?!
Gee, Dahne. Wait to start a confrontation. :) No question is right, tho.
ReplyDeletewhat does 'though not necessarily as fallen angel Castiel.' meaaaaaaaaaannn??? ARGH I just want Cas and Bobby back. boo.
ReplyDeleteBut your affected tirade practically assaulted my eyes, how I could not respond to that? I kindly ask? Your selfrightheousness and derision to Courtney's opinion beaconed me like a moth to the flame.
ReplyDeleteAnd lastly, quite a logical fallacy what you've got there. How can I dislike or like your opinion If I don't read it? Such precognitive abilities evade me still.
Nevertheless, now we must part ways, have a pleasant evening "sweetheart".
Ta ta!
Just when the controversy between fans was calming down they thow the cat amongst the pigeons and re- start the whole thing again.
ReplyDeleteI don't thing it's a good idea because if Misha Collins doesn't come back as an angel, does he come back as a Leviathan boss if Dean manages to kill Dick Roman?
I would much rather have Bobby, who is the boys' father figure and who loves them both, than have Collins back in another role just to keep his fans happy.
And just when I was starting to admire the writers for their courage in doing their own thing and not listening to the fans. Oh,well.
He will probably come back in Jimmy vessel without powers, as a sort of punishment.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see Misha back on SPN. While I think that the angel storyline had run its course, and I accepted Castiel's death, I think it'll be nice to see Misha again. Hopefully, it'll also appease the fans who were really upset with Castiel's departure. I've hated how divided the fanbase has seemed over it, so hopefully this'll bring it back together again. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe he comes back as human, and doesn't become a hunter and goes to live and apple pie life.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe he becomes a hunter XD that would be funny but i don't they are going to do that.
You're really sure he comes back as an angel?
ReplyDeleteSo Season 5 Cas again? I'd rather just have Jimmy return personally.
ReplyDeleteRemember it was only assumed he died. I am guessing that Jimmy will be back but if it is for 1-3 episodes it is more likely the combination will be back or just Castiel as there would be no need for Jimmy in the Supernatural canon. What would he do? Hunt? That is an interesting idea....
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting if Castiel was trapped in Purgatory. But it will take a larger event I think to bring a game changing character like Death back. Too bad because Julian Richings is just perfect in that role.
ReplyDeleteUnless he personally reaps Dean just for being a smart ass *snicker* It would be funny if at the end of the series Sam ends up the King of Hell and Dean gets turned into a Reaper.
Nice one. The only popular Slash should be either a killer on the loose horror flick or a talented guitar player that wears some piss ugly hats. Not 2 brothers joined at the hip...Literally.
ReplyDeleteYou realize the show is about 2 brothers right? That the writers are not actually playing favorites and fictionally disembowling your favorite characters? It would be pointless and would hardly gather ratings to keep the show going.
ReplyDeleteThe show's supposed to be about two brothers, but seeing as how Dean gets pretty much ALL the POV and character exploration, sometimes it doesn't feel that way. I love Dean as much as Sam, but the writers have not been doing Sam justice for the last few seasons in terms of exploring his POV. Even when he has a story arc, we only get Dean's POV on the events. Like Sam's addiction, for instance. We never see how that starts, how Sam falls into that behavior, how he struggles with it (or doesn't). We only see how upset Dean is, how betrayed Dean feels, how inhuman Dean thinks Sam is. We got ONE ep that dealt specifically with Sam's detox, and the rest of it was all Dean and Cas outside the panic room emoing about Sam's addiction. And now Sam's hell memories. We get one ep dealing with his hallucinations and now suddenly he's FINE and talking about how everyone else's issues are so much worse than his? He's suddenly more well-adjusted than he's been the entire series, with absolutely NO character development or explanation in between except "Sam goes jogging and presses on his hand"? All so we can explore how guilty Dean feels. Sam has a goldmine of potential character growth story lines, with the hell memories and his memories of being soulless, and all they do with his character is use it to show how worried we should all be about Dean because apparently Sam is FINE despite spending almost two centuries being tortured in the worst part of hell. So it's a little frustrating to those of us who want to see Sam get some character exploration, and not just DEAN'S pov on Sam's character. Because honestly the writers ARE sort of playing favorites, or at the very least not giving the characters equal focus and POV. It doesn't make sense, and it's not a good practice for the show (as evidenced by the myriad other fans who feel as I do - go check out other SPN fandom forums and you'll see that I'm hardly the only one complaining about this issue). That's why we're so unhappy about it. We've been promised over and over, "don't worry, we're going to get to Sam and his POV soon, just be patient," and yet it never actually happens in any way that's satisfying.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Sam confronting Castiel for having broken his wall.
ReplyDeleteHe should be mad at him but Sam is always portrayed as the forgiving one so he probably won't even get the satisfaction of shouting at Castiel!
I didn't see very much anger on anyone's part about the treacherous thing that Castiel did to his "friend" Sam.
Even Dean didn't go overboard as much as he usually does about those who hurt Sam.
Yes, it would be sad if it's "Castiel" who fixes Sam----very unfair!
Anyway I don't see the necessity of bringing him back as the ratings were holding up OK.
No surprise he's back, but it is good to know it's for at least 3 episodes.
ReplyDeleteOh, no. *sigh* I just hope he's not coming back as Castiel.
ReplyDeleteRemember everyone to give a last round of votes to SPN in the People's Choice Awards, as I believe today is the last useful day.
ReplyDeleteangels dont have souls
ReplyDeleteMaybe Cas will be a vehicle for Sam addressing what happened and moving this forward? I don't want a quick touch and Sam's back to normal, but to be honest I'm not crazy about these hallucinations either, with Sam broken and just sitting in the corner pushing on his palm. I want the hell memories addressed but I also want to see some forward movement on this too. I'd also like to see Sam confront Cas about breaking his wall so that this is not all about what Cas did to Dean but what Cas did to Sam.
ReplyDeleteI agree, why?? My favorite seasons, so far, were the ones Misha was in and there were excellent ep with Bobby in this group. I did not see he took anything away from Sam and I loved their interaction. Well he did cause the Sam/Lucifer in head arc which I am enjoying because of the excellent acting from Jared. I miss my favorite Angel and would miss Bobby just as much, the guys need all the help they can get. Where is this hate Cas coming from??
ReplyDeleteSera has said in interviews that their plan always was to bring back Misha. They talked to Misha about a long term plan before killing off his character and getting the fan reaction.
ReplyDeleteI just want Misha back, have enjoyed him with all his characters, 6 so far or have I missed one?lol
ReplyDeleteI just read that AOL talked to Misha and he confirmed that the character of Cas will be back, but changed.
ReplyDeleteCas was the one that broke Sam and told Dean if he had the power he would fix him, so if Misha is coming back as Cas then it would not be away from the plot for him to fix Sam.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for those fans who have missed him but I feel that the writers should just have left well alone.
ReplyDeleteHaving made the decision to kill off the Castiel character, it seems illogical to bring M.C. back as someone/something else.
If they had brought him back as Castiel there would al least have been a certain continuity if nothing else.
Also here is another poll and we are LOSING BADLY, go vote...please.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/best_of_2011_vote_top_10_tv_dramas/278483
I don't appreciate your dry humor or insults toward me and my opinion and it would seem I'm not the only person who feels the way I do. If you have something to say to me that's fine, but maybe you could do it without personally attacking me. I didn't personally attack you. I didn't personally attack the person above me.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I did? I pointed out my disgust with this whole "Dean/Cas" crap because it's not true for one, and for two Cas betrayed Sam and Dean in the worst possible way plus killed thousands and you people want Dean to "admit his love" which he doesn't have? I'm sorry, but no... just no.
Totally agree either they want to write for Sam or they dont any secondary character shouldnt of or should interfere with that.
ReplyDeleteAgreed wholeheartedly.
ReplyDeleteThen write it like it is about two brothers, not his Deans pov and here is Sam well here is Sam and look this happened to him and well this is how Dean feels about it.
ReplyDeleteAnd here is his hell and it is solved by rubbing a healed scar on his hand isnt that good look .
Two brothers either that is true in every sense of the word or it is aload of old rubbish I think the latter not that I want to but I have been made to feel that way.
Good to see him back. I like Castiel but wasn't too fussed about him leaving but it'll be interesting where his storyline goes.
ReplyDeleteI personally believe that, in the great scheme of things, Cas' death or not death is a game breaker for me.
ReplyDeleteI love the Castiel, but I love Joss Whedon, and you all know what that means XD. Characters sometimes have to die to drive the story and themes across.
But so far, Cas' death has felt so meaningless it's eyeroll worthy, if you are going to kill a character, do it with a bang and a flash, if you are going to make them going to the deep end, go full in, if you are going to make it emotional, makes us cry. So far, the best way I can put Cas' death is as half assed, it just didn't struck any major accords. Betrayal? Darkside? Misguided? Grief? Loss? Tragedy? Where is the impact? still nowhere.
A death should mean something, and maybe even more when the character has been 3 years on the show. I really don't mind if they kill Cas for real, for the sake of story progression, but do it well, as if it means something.
That has been my only problem with the season theme wise.
Oh and the Bobby thing, Imma cut a bitch for that one.
episode 17... HU!!!!!!!!!! OMG BE HERE NOW!.. what are we at? 9-10...
ReplyDeleteARGH And I cant even be that happy cause me creys bobby
season 5 cas is my fav. wait no season 5 Futur!Castiel is my fav. give him some pot someone
ReplyDeleteMy problem with Season 5 Cas was that he was the boys' get-out-of-jail-free card. They no longer had to do any research as long as he was around. They didn't have to worry about injuries or larger-than-life foes... His frequent presence that season hurt the "tale of two brothers" theme and atmosphere, and it made it so that the brothers' skills pre-Cas (and pre-Bobby to an extent) were seriously taken for granted.
ReplyDeleteFuture Cas was pretty entertaining though it did make me wonder whatever happened to Jimmy since completely de-powered Cas was essentially human, which meant we had a human living inside another human's body during that whole thing...
I dont know in my mind jimmy is dead. or like in a for ever coma O.o Cas is just using his body and even with no power he is still an angel. just a powerless angel aka as good as a human but not one.
ReplyDeleteBut I agree with what you said about cas being the get away free pass. I mean I liked that Cas couldnt always be there in season 6 they had to figure something out. not just call cass and POFF desapear problem soved...
I just really really love Misha and Castiel is hilarious but too powerful.
Wow how did I not see this news till now?! I have clearly not been spending enough time on Spoiler TV! Looking forward to this, and I hope it's not a flashback or alternate reality thing.
ReplyDelete:-D
