Supernatural - Midseason Polls - Part 3
Dec 23, 2011
Polls SupernaturalWe're off to a great start in our ranking polls. The first set of polls are finished while the second set have about 900 votes. You can still vote here for round 2. Today features the rest of season 3 and the start of season 4 episodes. It should get quite interesting from this point on. After we finish the ranking polls, we will do a set from season 7 so far and one for comedy episodes. If you have ideas for others, leave your suggestions in the comments section.
The plan: We will run the contest to see where episodes will rank over winter hiatus and the early part of summer hiatus. The top 100 episodes will be ranked by how they do in this contest. The bottom 49 episodes will go head to head to see which ones make it into the contest. The reason for this is that the brackets only work with 128 episodes. This will still allow each episode to go head to head to determine the Best Supernatural Episode.
Unlike the actual contest in the summer, preliminaries will be open for at least one week each. Everyone still only gets 1 vote per IP address though. Voting will be in 6 episode batches by order in which they aired and everyone can vote for 3 episodes per batch. Feel free to sound off in the comments about why you chose what you did.

A mixed bag for me today. In the first round, I definitely choose A Very SPN Christmas, which I think is the best episode to introduce new people to SPN because it perfectly shows all the elements of SPN, and Bedtime Stories because the plot was so unique. I hesitated between Fresh Blood and Dream a Little Dream of Me. Eventually I chose DaLDoM because I am nostalgic for Bobby right now and because I hate that both Jesus Hunter and Gordon died in Fresh Blood. I loved them both. I like Malleus Maleficarum but it can't compare to the others on this list and Red Sky at Morning wasn't even a contender even though it had the cool ghost/water special effects.
ReplyDeleteRound 10 was by far the easiest for me since I love 3 of the episodes listed and hate the other 3. Mystery Spot, Jus in Belo, and No Rest for the Wicked are in my best episodes list. I hate the Ghostfacers with a passion, Long-Distance Call had a very weak plot, and Time is on My Side was a waste of prime penultimate episode space.
Round 11 for me includes Lazarus Rising, arguably the best premiere of all, and Monster Movie. I love its unique set-up and thought the shapshifter was awesome. Besides, that show made me laugh the whole way through. A top notch episode in my view. I struggled with my third choice though. Are You There God? It's Me Dean Winchester brought back some of my favorite characters but proceeded to waste them. In the Beginning was awesome in its set-up but it brought Grandpa Creepy and the notion of time travel to the series.
Round 12 was the hardest so far. Mostly because the only episode I really want to vote for is Wishful Thinking. Family Remains was a definite no, but all the others are various stages of meh for me. They aren't fantastic episodes or terrible ones, just in the middle. In the end I chose It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester and Criss Angel mostly because I am not a fan of the angels and I Know What You Did Last Summer ingrained them even more.
What's your vote?
My choices:
ReplyDeleteRound 9 - Dream a Little Dream of Me, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Bedtime Stories
Round 10 - Mystery Spot, Jus in Bello, No Rest for the Wicked
Round 11 - Lazarus Rising, In the Beginning, Yellow Fever
Round 12 - It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester, Wishful Thinking, Criss Angel is a Douche Bag
Thanks for these polls Dahne :)
I played around with my choices a bit this time, but the easiest round had to be Round 10.. I'm a huge fan of Jus in Belo and No Rest for the Wicked, and Mystery Spot never fails to crack me up.. though it was hell for Sam :)
ReplyDeleteGroup 9*Red Sky At Morning*Bella and randy old lady Gertrude make for a very entertaining episode.*Fresh Blood*Gordon's brutal coup de grâce at the hands of Sam. It's a great moment in the series.*Malleus Maleficarum*Dean hates witches and women like this is exactly why. Good stuff. Good Ruby appearance too.Group 10*Mystery Spot*A passable episode. I only voted for it because I liked Ghostfacers, LDC, & Time much less.*Jus in Bello*One of the best episodes of the entire series. It was a good wake-up call for the brothers.*No Rest For The Wicked*A damn fine finale; definitely the best of the series up to that point.Group 11*Lazarus Rising*A good episode, A great return for Dean, and the wonderfully seedy premiere of Ruby #2.*In The Beginning*A fairly interesting episode. Young Mary Winchester and creepy Grandpa were both good.*Yellow Fever*Not a big fan but it's certainly better than Metamorphosis, Monster Movie, or Are you there, God?
ReplyDeleteGroup 12
*It's The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester*
It's got Uriel, Cas, Sam trying out his blood mojo, and more witches for Dean to hate. A solid episode.
*I Know What You Did Last Summer & Heaven and Hell*
I group these together because it's best to watch them together. It's an epic two-parter. It has Ruby, Anna, Pamela, Alastair, Uriel, Cas, torture, angel food cake, and an Angel / Demon showdown. I never get tired of watching these two episodes.
Poll 9: Bedtime Stories, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Dream A Little Dream of Me (almost tied with Fresh Blood )
ReplyDeletePoll 10: Mystery Spot, Jus in Bello, No Rest For the Wicked (Jus in Bello being the first episode I ever saw - been hooked ever since)
Poll 11: Lazarus Rising, Monster Movie, Yellow Fever (the last one mainly because it was the best out of the remaining bunch)
Poll 12: Wishful Thinking, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heaven And Hell (I only chose the last two because at that stage I was still vaguely intrigued by the angel storyline, and the other episodes did nothing much for me. And I have to choose three because my OCD says if I'm allowed to then I have to :)
Thanks for voting and commenting. It makes things more fun. Glad someone else likes Dream a Little Dream of Me. I feel it gets short shifted a bit.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling round 10 will have a lot of similar voting. Except for perhaps Ghostfacers, I would guess most people will vote the way you did. Those 3 are such strong episodes.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible? I think we both voted the same way for poll 10. I feel a second Apocalypse coming. Also agreed that Gordon's death was visceral and probably the most brutal in the series. A definite shocker.
ReplyDeleteAs long as mystery spot wins, I'm pleased.
ReplyDeleteOCD is quite the demanding witch. :-) I voted for 3 this time too only because I could and not because I particularly thought the 3 episodes deserved a vote.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favorite episodes of Season 3 and it has one of the coolest titles lol. Jensen Ackles was fantastic in that episode! I think I am going to start watching the show again from Season 1. I just finished re-watching LOST on Blu-Ray a couple of days ago and I'm in the mood to re-watch another show. Plus, I completed my Supernatural collection on Blu-Ray over Black Friday so can't wait to watch the show in HD from episode 1. :D
ReplyDeleteI hope Mystery Spot does better this summer. Last year it got knocked out by All Hell Breaks Loose 2 in round 2. It was the biggest shock of the contest to me. I love AHBL2 also but I thought for sure Mystery Spot was going to be in the finals.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! The only blu-ray player in the house is on my computer so we haven't switched over to Blu-Ray yet. I'd love to see how the viewing experience is different. I will start my Supernatural marathon rewatch next week but alas only on DVD.
ReplyDeleteI've sampled a couple of episodes from Season 1 and it is noticeably better than the DVDs. Here are some screenshots from Season 2 and you can definitely see the improvement - http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Supernatural-The-Complete-Second-Season-Blu-ray/21008/#Screenshots - Sadly, only the sixth season has the HD audio as Warner Bros. only recently started providing HD audio on their TV releases.
ReplyDeleteJus in Bello has to be one of my all-time favourites!
ReplyDeletelots of great epsiodes in today and yesterdays ooll. reminds me of how much i love seasons two and three.
ReplyDeletei voted
funny how some of these oolls have brilkiant episodes and some just normal episodes. i love a very supernatural christmas, mystery spot (my all time fave), jus in bello, no rest for the wicked, yellow fever, monster movie. i also love heaven and hell which for me is surprising as i normally prefer the stand alone, monster of the week episodes rather than heavy mytharc episodes but i really enjoyed heaven and hell.
i often find that for me each season goes through phases where i either love all the episodes in a run or i find them pretty average. for season four, the episodes between on the head of a pin and monster at the end of this book i find pretty forgetable and season five has another section of those kind of episode too although i love most of season five and cant wait for that poll
ive done that alot for quite a few of these polls where i didnt feel like voting for any oarticular episode over another but i just found a third and sometimes a second because i coukd vote three and so i felt i had to. but then there were some polls where choosing just three was so difficult
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are really clear. I guess I'll be looking for sales in the new year. I wish someone would screen cap episodes as clear as that so I can use them in recaps.
ReplyDeleteNo problem! And the show looks even better after 3 seasons, Season 6 screenshots - http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Supernatural-The-Complete-Sixth-Season-Blu-ray/16121/#Screenshots :D. I don't know how you get screen caps for your recaps, but your best bet would be get them off of the 720p releases that are put up 15-20 mins after an episode airs. Not exactly legal, but it does give you the clearest images :p
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm one of the very few who adored "Maleus Malificarum." Interesting. The only poll I had a tough time narrowing my choices to three is the second. Finally went with "Jus in Bello," "Mystery Spot," and "No Rest For the Wicked," which seem to be the most popular.
ReplyDeletePoll 1
ReplyDeleteBedtime Stories--I liked the fairy-tales! We did it before Grimm!
Red Sky in the Morning
- catty Bela, the boys in tuxedo, Sammy cougared, the squatting in the empty house. Bela having to thank them and the boys finally getting paid cash for a change! I just like this ep:-)
A Very Supernatural Christmas-----
Marvellous ep. The monster story was great, we get the two little sad Winchesters, ( yes, even then! ) the amulet and the most heart-warming ending. Ahhh.
Poll 2
No doubt here!
Mystery Spot.
It takes us through the whole range of emotions, from fun to desperation to redemption.
Super.
Jus in Bello
Another fantastic episode garnished with Hendriksen, one of my favourite secondary characters.
No Rest for the Wicked.
Dean and Sam's anguish throughout the episode and the emotional ending was wonderful.
Poll 3
Lazarus Rising.
The heartfelt and moving hug between the brothers was so moving. I loved the whole ep, except Ruby. Grrr!
The Beginning.
I'm a sucker for time travel and for backstories about the Winchesters. This gave us the great reveal about Mary that opened up a whole can of worms.
Monster Movie--Just' cause!
Poll 4
This is the most difficult because I don't really go wild about any of them.
Having to choose. however, I went for:-
Wishful Thinking------- because it was a bit unusual and quirky.
I Know What You Did Last Summer------------for the back-Sammy-story and for Jared's great acting.
Heaven and Hell --------because Sam's idea of pitting the angels and demons against one another was a good one and Dean got a little angelic comfort in the Impala. Rather shallow I know :-)
Poll 9:
ReplyDeleteFresh Blood - probably my favourite vampire episode of the series. Gordon was dangerous enough as a human, turning him into a vampire was a juicy twist
A Very Supernatural Christmas - simply for the flashbacks and the amulet story
Malleus Maleficarum - I believe it was the first episode we heard about Lilith?
Poll 10:
Mystery Spot & Jus in Bello - obvious choices, both standing very high on my all time favourite list
and No Rest for the Wicked - simply because season 3 went downhill after Jus in Bello and I really disliked the remaining 3 episodes
Poll 11:
Lazarus Rising - one of the best season premieres, next to In My Time of Dying and Meet the New Boss
Are You There, God? - a superimportant mytharc episode, introducing info on the Apocalypse, breaking the seals and Lucifer. And I loved the witnesses storyline.
Yellow Fever - I'm not a particular fan of this episode, but I still prefer it to the remaining ones
Poll 12:
I Know What You Did Last Summer & Heaven and Hell - a great two-episode arch, introducing the kickass bad guy Alastair. Plus the big reveal on Dean's time in Hell.
Family Remains - I know people tend to hate this episode, but I love it. I actually like it much more than The Benders. It was great to go back to horror after all the heaven and hell drama.
I'm going for my favorite brother moments in some of my choices such as A very SPN Christmas, Fresh Blood (didn't care for the episode itself but the ending--favorite brother moment!)
ReplyDeleteRound 9: A Very Supernatural Christmas, Bedtime Stories, Dream a Little Dream of Me
ReplyDeleteRound 10: Jus in Bello, Mystery Spot, No Rest for the Wicked
Round 11: Lazarus Rising, Monster Movie, In the Beginning
Round 12: Wishful Thinking, It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester, I Know What You Did Last Summer
Round 12 was the most difficult for me because I didn't care much for the witches or the angels. I dislike creepy cannibalistic children even more.
Tough, but not as tough as yesterday's!
ReplyDeletePoll 9: Bedtime Stories, Fresh Blood (Gordon Walker is an amazing villain, plus a brilliant brother moment), A Very Supernatural Christmas (if you have to ask why, you clearly haven't seen the episode). Dream a Little, Dream of Me would have been my next choice, but despite the awesomeness that is Bobby, I wasn't really a fan of this episode.
Poll 10: Mystery Spot, Jus in Bello, No Rest for the Wicked. All three of these are in my Top 20 episodes ever, and are definitely the best three episodes in S3. I would have loved an extra vote so that I could include Ghostfacers (I know they're a bit love/hate, but I love them), but really, the episode can't match up to any of the first three.
Poll 11: Lazarus Rising (Second best season premiere ever, only recently overtaken by Meet the New Boss), Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester, Monster Movie ("Is there...garlic on this pizza?"). I know lots of people love Yellow Fever, and ok, the cat scene is hilarious, plus we got an amazing bonus scene in Eye of the Tiger, but I am not a fan of the episode in general, I know Kripke said that it wasn't meant to imply that Dean was a jerk/bully, but that's always what it comes across as to me.
Poll 12: Wishful Thinking ("Are we...are we gonna kill this teddy bear?"), I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heaven and Hell. While I'm not a huge fan of Anna, I did love finding out what happened to Sam in the months that Dean was gone, and I enjoyed seeing the boys pull one over on the angels. Plus, Alistair (awesome in all his forms), and more Bobby (also awesome in everything). It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester was the only other runner for me here, Family Remains and Criss Angel is a Douchebag are two of my least favourite episodes ever (particularly CAiaD!).
Poll 9: Really wanted to put Malleus Maleficarum just for the "I put a spell on you" song..perfect, but went with A Very Special Christmas, love this ep and both of the young Sam & Dean. Necklace gift and just so much to love in this one. Next is Fresh Blood, was glad to see Gordon get what was coming to him..just call me blood thirsty. lol Next was Dream a Little Dream of Me..Got to find out some of Bobby's background and Dean finding himself was just so good.
ReplyDeletePoll 10:The first one is easy No Rest For the Wicked..Dean taken to Hell, Ruby possessed, Lilith, No Rest For the Wicked playing. The next 2 were harder, but went with Mystery Spot, just because it made me laugh, the looks that Sam had on his face..awesome job Jared. Jus In Bello was my next pick.
Poll 11:Season 4 the polls are going to start getting much harder. First was easy Yellow Fever, just a fun ep, Jensen was perfect afraid of EVERYTHING, loved the "huge" dog, the cat coming out of the locker and the bonus ending Eye Of The Tiger, nothing in this ep for me to not like. Next is Lazarus Rising because I get to meet my favorite Angel of all time. Last but not least, In The Beginning for the Winchester back story, learned a lot about the yellow eyed demon.
Poll 12: First 2 were so easy, I Know What You Did Last Summer & Heaven & Hell, loved Anna and this story with the Angels & Demons, Dean using the Impala's back seat as it was meant to be used. LOL
Went with Wishful Thinking for 3rd, had a lot of funny lines in it. Wanted to put Family Remains in just for Dean telling Sam about Hell.
I am with you on the Ghostfacers...can not stand them, but loved round 12 and the Angels & Demon stories. SPN has something for everyone, I know some fans LOVE the idiot Ghostfacers.LOL
ReplyDeleteOK, my laugh for the morning "I dislike creepy cannibalistic children even more". I'm with you on that, but do LOVE the Angel & Demon stories..Castiel my favorite clueless Angel.
ReplyDeleteSome of these are really hard to choose. Not even sure if I chose it exactly like I feel. Just for this moment it's: Red Sky at Morning, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Mystery Spot(!), Jus in Bello(!), No Rest for the Wicked, Lazarus Rising(!), Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester, In the Beginning (!) - about first 6 episodes of season 4: I love them all(except Metamorphosis), so too bad there can only be 3 episodes to vote for - and last poll: It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heaven and Hel(!)
ReplyDeleteWell, this round was harder than the last one!
ReplyDelete9)A Very Supernatural Christmas, because, well,it's Christmas and also cause it was a brilliant episode! And I want the damn necklace back...
ReplyDeleteBedtime Stories.Fairy-tales..that killed people! That's all I'm gonna say..
Third choice was harder but I went with Dream a Little Dream of Me.We learned a bit about Bobby and the Dean vs Dean scene was incredible.
10)So incredibly easy!Mystery Spot,Jus In Bello and No Rest for the Wicked. It would be tough to beat them even if they had competition and in this case the certainly did not.Long-Distance Call and Time is on My Side are nothing special and I'm trying very hard to forget everything about the Ghostfacers..
11)Again,very easy, although I wish we could vote for more than three.
Lazarus Rising would get all three votes if it was possible. It currently shares the top spot of my favorite episodes list with The End.It had everything! If I wanted to convince someone to watch the show this is the episode I would show them(after explaining a thing or two..)!
But since I have two more choices.Next is Are You There God?It's Me,Dean Winchester.A very, very good episode. We saw Ronald and Henricksen again and we had the revelation about the Apocalypse and Lucifer which is one of the coolest scenes ever.
And finally,In The Beginning.Time Travel for the first time, young John and Mary,Samuel and it shed some light on YED's plan.
Season 4 had,in my opinion, the strongest opening with three incredible episodes!Season 7 came close but I was a little disappointed with episode 3.
If I could I would definitely vote for Yellow Fever, but the rules say three..
12)Family Remains and Criss Angel are out of the question. And again,I want to vote for four episodes.
I went with It's the Great Pumpkin,Sam Winchester,I Know What You Did Last Summer and Heaven and Hell.It was very cool to meet new angels and Anna was pretty great back then.
Very sad that I can't vote for the Teddy Bear though..
This is so much fun! : )
Hard hard polls today. Some obvious choices and some very close ones as well. I will always love the Ghostfacers though. I know when watching live it was rough to come back to after the writers strike, but once rewatching it and having the whole 3rd season on DVD (now seasons 1-6), I truly love it. =)
ReplyDeleteYellow Fever is one of my least favorite episodes of the whole series. Scare a ghost to death? Really? The plot is right up there with killer racist truck. I also don't appreciate new writers calling a main character a d**. Of course, it was Dabb & Loflin who have succeeded in pulling off one character assassination after another and are my least favorite writers. The best part of Yellow Fever for me is the Eye of the Tiger bonus clip that the writers didn't have anything to do with and is not technically part of the episode, as Mia always reminds me. :-)
ReplyDeleteJus in Bello is on my top episodes list and is an episode that gets better with frequent watching instead growing stale. There's a little bit of everything in it and it represents the high point of Supernatural. I contend that the beginning of season 3, before the writers' strike turned the rest of the season into a joke, is the finest Supernatural has ever been.
ReplyDeleteThey do seem to go in phases. We'll get several really good episodes in a row and then a group of middle of the road to clunkers. Perhaps someone will track the general trend to see if there's a pattern. Off hand I can say that usually the first few episodes of any season are really good and then we get some clunkers and some that stall the mytharc right after that. Then pick up again heading to the midseason finale.
ReplyDeleteI really like Malleus Maleficarum and will probably vote for it at least a time or two in the summer polls. However, it is pretty much a standalone, non-character driven episode and those struggle in these polls.
ReplyDeleteI think AVSPNC has one of the best endings of all too. Of all their holiday based episodes this one is far superior to me. Love how you voted for Monster Movie and Wishful Thinking just because. Supernatural does quirky and fun better than most shows and these two were topnotch special episodes for me. Never in a million years did I think they could pull off a teddy bear come to life. I was totally wrong.
ReplyDeleteAlastair was the best thing to come out of the angel plot line to me. Creepy in all incarnations, he is the scariest villain of all time in my opinion. If season 4 and 5 had been about him instead of Lucifer, I would probably have enjoyed it more and I know it would have been more intense.
ReplyDeleteBwah! I'm not a big fan of cannibals in all forms but cannibal children go way beyond the pale for me. Have to give kudos to Supernatural though. They are not afraid to make children the scariest thing going - no cheesy campy dialing back for them. The bloodthirsty ghost chick carrying the doll and straightedge razor blade in Provenance still freaks me out.
ReplyDeleteNothing in all of Supernatural has ever made me laugh so hard as the Dracula and the pizza guy scene from Monster Movie. I still can't hear the word coupon without immediately envisioning the scene and cracking up. It makes for some awkward moments at the grocery store,
ReplyDeleteI Put a Spell on You is one of the underrated songs in Supernatural. Perhaps we will do a poll for the best music-scene match if we have time in the hiatus.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that you will be able to vote for all episodes at least once in the head-to-head this summer. Of course the bad news is that eventually two episodes you really like will be against each other and you'll have to vote against one of them. It can get diabolical.
ReplyDeleteYou are in good company of people who want the amulet to return. I still refuse to believe that Sam left it in the trashcan after Dean walked away. Sam wouldn't do that and I want it back. (Much more than Jensen Ackles does). As for Ghostfacers, you said it best, "
ReplyDeleteI'm trying very hard to forget everything about the Ghostfacers." Add Becky and Amy to that and you have my Supernatural selective amnesia.
I laughed like an idiot in Yellow Fever, and yeah scaring a ghost to death was lame, but dang it was fun and the icing on the cake was the bonus Tiger.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that would be harder than the funniest ep, the music on SPN is better than any show going.
ReplyDeleteagreed. although i sometimes it picks up only to slow down again before it picks up for the lead up to the finale.
ReplyDeletealso, once this section of polls are over, are you gonna say who won what and stuff in a post so we can see the results?
9. Bedtime Stories, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Dream a Little Dream of Me
ReplyDelete10. Mystery Spot, Jus In Bello, No Rest for the Wicked
11. Lazarus Rising, In the Beginning, Yellow Fever
12. Wishful Thinking, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heaven and Hell
Fresh Blood - Picked only because I had to fill out my 3 choices...also, Gordon Walker. Admirable foe for the Winchesters.
ReplyDeleteA Very Supernatural Christmas - Epic Christmas-themed TV episode. Who doesn't want to see someone killed with a Christmas tree? Great flashbacks and it was amazing to see the origins of the amulet. I always thought it had come from Sam, and it was nice to see it!
Dream a Little Dream of Me - Dean finally realizes his worth and wants to live. I adore this episode for that reason alone.
Mystery Spot - It starts out funny, and quickly turns dark and despairing. This is a strong episode and probably the best work Kim Manners did on the show. His direction was amazing, and the boys also did a real good job.
Long-Distance Call - I like this one for the desperation it brings out of Dean, and even though it's only his voice, we get a JDM "appearance".
No Rest for the Wicked - I honestly didn't know if Dean would actually go to hell or if they would stop it by killing Lillith. Twisted as it is, I was glad he did go to hell. His death was powerful and the only thing that would have made it more so was if we'd seen Bobby's reaction as well as Sam's.
Lazarus Rising - Dean rises from hell, and literally claws his way out of his grave! My favorite season 4 episode. Before the angst builds we get happy reunions with Bobby and Sam. And we see Dean wearing Sam's too-big clothes.
In the Beginning - I love young John and Mary, and seeing where this episode went, basically forcing Dean to be a spectator in the deal his mother made while being powerless to stop it. Very sad, but very powerful.
Yellow Fever - so funny! My only regret is that I was spoiled about the cat in the locker and the Eye of the Tiget bit at the end, prior to the episode. I would have loved to have had genuine first reactions to those things without knowing about them coming ahead of time. But seeing Dean fearful and so much unlike his former self was funny, yet frightening! Also, very effective use of the little girl who last was Lillith.
Runner up was Metamorphosis, for angsty and angry!Dean, and punching and fighting and disappointment and all that. Poor boys!
Great Pumpkin - Sam meets Cas, and is sadly disappointed. This is when we learn of the 66 seals, and the mythology takes a leap forward. Also, aside from the pilot I think this is the only in-show mention of Halloween. I also loved seeing Dean pig-out on candy.
Wishful Thinking - Funny but silly, and Dean finally admits he remembers hell. My only complaint is that aside from one moment in this episode we don't see Sam witnessing Dean's nightmares like he says he does. I know he probably did, but having one other moment of it earlier would have strengthened Sam's pleas for Dean to talk to him.
Heaven and Hell - I liked Anna. I liked her chemistry with Dean and I was sad to see her angel-up and be "gone" at the end. I still cry at Dean's confession at the end, and Jensen deserves infinite praises for his work in this episode, specifically that last scene.
