Votes are in for favorite episode of season 7 so far and 8 episodes have advanced to the head-to-head. (The Girl Next Door and Defending Your Life did not make it in.) They are ranked in order of the number of votes received so things should get harder the farther we get into the contest, unless you already know your favorite of course. Each poll ends at midnight St. Louis time and it's one vote per IP address. Pass the word and don't forget that comments are lovely.
We are also gathering nominations for favorite Supernatural songs. This will be a straight up favorite poll so yes, Carry On Wayward Son is the odds-on favorite. Later on (like tomorrow probably) we will nominate songs for best use of a song to fit the scene. I would imagine things will be quite different in that poll. Nominations will last approximately 3 days and a complete song list for seasons 1-6 can be found at http://tviv.org/Supernatural/Music. If you have not nominated your favorite comedy episodes, you still have time. The diversity in the nominations so far have been surprising and a lot of fun. You can also still vote in the summer ranking polls for round 4, round 5, and round 6. Enjoy!

Except for the last poll, the season 7 vote is easy. It's the top choice for the first three. Choosing a favorite song is near impossible. Narrowing things down I still came up with 27. So I decided that I would only nominate one song per band, thus making sure that 3 of my 5 nominations were not AC/DC, but that still didn't help. Then I axed songs I will be nominating for the song-to-scene poll but no dice. 5 is just impossible. I've got 2 definites. The rest need more debate time.
ReplyDelete1. Death's Door had no competition in this one.
ReplyDelete2. Meet the Boss was in the same situation.
3. Slash Fiction. So far, these have been no brainers.
4. How to Win Friends and Influence Monster. Four in a row.
1. Can't Fight This Feeling Any Longer by REO Speedwagon.
2. Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas. Sorry but it has become the theme song for the show and I love it.
3. In-a-Gadda-da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. Grew up with it. One whole side of an album Awesome
4. Rock of Ages by Def Leppard Dean slipping that tape into the deck and slowly driving in knowing he would most likely die would not leave his brother alone, haunts me even now. His voice saying, I'm here Sam. Yeah, Definitely this song.
5. Do You Love me by the Contours. That song coming in The End like it did was brilliant.
There was just too many songs. I couldn't think of a lot of them. It's 3 a.m. and I am heading to bed. Could be one reason I couldn't think of some of them. You had some good choices. Good n ight
ReplyDeleteI had to list my quintisential SPN songs that really impacted the stories for me:
ReplyDeleteCarry On My Wayward Son is probably on every list.
O Death (I'll never forget Death's intro)
Don't Fear the Reaper (perfect use from "Faith")
Renegade (awesome Nightshifter ending)
Ramble On (Essence of Dean)
Runners up: Stranglehold (intro to "In My Time of Dying" after that shocking S1 finale), Shambala (fixing Baby, Back in Black (Baby on the road), Smoke On the Water (Baby Part Deux)
I love your song comments! I picked songs that evoked powerful moments in episodes. I'd have a different list if it were personal preferences. Esp the blues.
ReplyDeleteVery difficult but not impossible because everyone I'm sure has their "favourite" favourites that just hit you right away.
ReplyDeleteIn my case
1) Heat of the Moment
For me, the song that reminds me most of Supernatural and just couples with one of my absolutely preferred eps.
2) Beautiful Loser
I have listened to that song, I don't know how often!
I love it and I love the scene it illustrates too, at the beginning of season six.
3)Eye Of The Tiger
Although I don't like the episode it's in, I do love the song, and Jensen's rendering of it at the end of the ep.
4) Rock and Roll Never Forgets
In Swap Meat------ when Sam is back to himself again, and contrary to when he had the teen in his body, he asks Dean to lower the volume of the music instead up asking him to raise it as the "teen Sam" did.
I just liked the song and that bitter-sweet, in a way, moment.
5)Knocking on Heaven's Door
It was heard originally in Houses Of The Holy, one of my favouite eps. and then in Dark Side Of The Moon in the beautiful firework scene.
It was so moving then, before we knew what happened at the end of the ep.
Poor amulet and poor Sammy!
I know that Wayward Son is the theme-song of the whole series and I love it too, but I'm sure it won't lack for nominations. :)
The voting was easy until the last one.
ReplyDeleteThe songs were near impossible. I nominated the first five that came to mind and will probably regret it later. Carry On My Wayward Son, Renegade, Back in Black, Eye of the Tiger, O' Death
Season 7 Episode Choices:
ReplyDelete- Death's Door- Meet The New Boss- Slash Fiction
- How To Win Friends & Influence Monsters (the only one I dithered on)
Favorite Supernatural Songs:
- Carry On Wayward Son (Kansas)
- Heat of the Moment (Asia)
- Back In Black (AC/DC)
- Eye of the Tiger (Survivor)
- O Death (Jen Titus)
Runners Up (in alphabetical order):
- All Out of Love (Air Supply)
- Bad Moon Rising (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
- Beautiful Loser (Bob Seger)
- Don't Look Back (Boston)
- Highway to Hell (AC/DC)
- Slow Ride (Foghat)
- Wanted Dead or Alive (Bon Jovi)
DD, HCW, and MTNB were no brainers for me, although I have loved every ep this season apart from the 2 that didn't make it here; DYL which was a big missed opportunity IMO, and GND which couldn't even be saved for me by the presence of the wonderful Colin Ford as young Sam, and Jensens directing. The characterisation of both brothers was way off in that ep I feel. The hardest to pick was between SF and the Mentalists. I went for the mentalists in the end although I loved both.
ReplyDeleteS7 has been fantastic for me so far. In the equivalent poll last year I'd have struggled to find one ep I enjoyed.
Tooooo many good songs!
ReplyDeleteBut here's 5...
Carry On Wayward Son - Have to. Love it. Turn it up real loud on The Road So Far. Just gives me goose bumps every time. Will forever represent Sam & Dean to me. And yes...it's my ringtone.
Crazy Circles - yeah, I just love this song. It's on the radio at the end of Fresh Blood when Dean is teaching Sam how to fix the Impala.
Hey Man Nice Shot - from Skin. Just such a brilliant song and really suits evil shifter Dean.
Silent Lucidity - from the end of Heart - sob!!!
Thundersturck - my favourite non Bon Scott ACADACA song! (also accompanying my favourite The Road So Far). I'm an Aussie...these guys are in my DNA. Any AC/DC is good but Angus' guitar riff in this is TO DIE FOR and I've seen him do it live :D
The season 7 polls were incredibly easy.Death's Door,Meet the New Boss,Slash Fiction and Hello,Cruel World. The last one was the only one I had trouble with but I think the first two episodes of season 7 were the best opening for a season since season 4,so I went with Hello,Cruel World. But How to Win Friends & Influence Monsters was also a very good episode.
ReplyDeleteNow the songs, that's tricky..I'm so glad that you're splitting it into to polls, best song and best song to fit a scene otherwise it wouldn't have been possible to choose five. So,in order for this to work I've decided that the five songs I nominate in this poll won't go into the next one. That makes it easier to leave out songs like Rock of Ages or O,Death today. Also,I'll nominate one song per band..Which begs the question, how do you choose between the AC/DC songs..
And...there are still too many songs!Seriously, that's nearly impossible.I'm gonna end up not nominating one and then I'll feel bad about it..
So,to start from somewhere..
Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas
I'm sure that it doesn't need my vote and I did think to go for something else just for this reason, but in the end it's not just my favorite song in the show,it's my favorite song, period.
To get the AC/DC out of the way,I closed my eyes and pointed,so Highway to Hell it is.
Can't Fight This Feeling - REO Speedwagon, which I admit I hadn't heard before the show but it became a favorite of mine.
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan.I did think of voting for it in the song/scene poll but we're not going anywhere like that so it goes into today's poll.
And I know I'll probably be the only one who nominates it but,Miracles - Jefferson Starship.I just love the song!
That was HARD!Already thinking about the next poll.. : )
Oh and eps? I forgot in my music flurry!
ReplyDeleteDeaths Door
Meet The New Boss
Slash Fiction
The last one was tough because I like both those eps a lot...but I ended up going Hello, Cruel World, purely because of the added Mark Pellegrino....oh how I love me some Lucifer (eeeep...just the character, just the character!).
Season 7 polls were very easy - Death's Door, Meet the New Boss, Slash Fiction and Hello, Cruel World (although I did very much like Shut Up, Dr Phil, The Mentalists and How to Win Friends...)
ReplyDeleteAs for the songs, I went with pretty obvious choices, but these were the most memorable for me:
Kansas - Carry On My Wayward Son (I can see it winning the whole thing. Who doesn't love it?)
AC/DC - Highway to Hell
Asia - Heat of the Moment
Styx - Renegade
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
This was mostly easy for me.
ReplyDeleteDeath's Door, Shut Up, Dr. Phil (despite my love of seeing Death in any ep I liked this one better overall. not sure I can quantify why), Slash Fiction, and How to Win. (I hated having Slash Fiction go up against The Mentalists. That one was difficult.)
Wanted Dead or Alive (always liked the song but picked it mainly because it was part of a character moment and not just background), Carry on my Wayward Son (tradition :-), In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (just like it), Crossroad (got me into exploring the blues more. Given that I grew up in Memphis it was about time), Look at You
Really wanted to add: House of the Rising Sun (a long time favorite.), Silent Lucidity (I'm a sucker for an 80 Power Ballad :-)
Yes! Rock of Ages. I spazzed. Best. Entrance. Ever. When Dean rolled into the graveyard playing that. I wish I could swap this into one of my submissions.
ReplyDeleteWell, the season 7 polls were quite easy (except for maybe the last one):
ReplyDelete1. Death's Door. Even if it hadn't been amazingly awesome, words cannot describe how much I hate Becky. Season 7, Time For a Wedding has been my least favourite episode of S7 so far. And given that we also have Defending Your Life and The Girl Next Door in there, that's saying something.
2. Meet the New Boss. As much as I enjoyed the quirky Shut Up, Dr. Phil, nothing outshines the awesomeness that was this year's season premiere. It is my favourite season premiere of the show so far (very closely followed by Lazarus Rising), and ranks quite high up there when it comes to my favourite episodes of all time.
3. Slash Fiction. Again, I enjoyed The Mentalists (*way* more than I was expecting), but Slash Fiction was just made of win. Evil Winchesters, Frank Deveraux, Sheriff Mills...just made of win.
4. Hello Cruel World. This was the only poll where there was any contest at all for me. In the end, I went by enjoyment: I loved Hello Cruel World so much, creepy Lucifer was just amazing, Sam losing it was fantastically well done, and the Leviathan plot was advanced in leaps and bounds.
Okay, now for the tough one: music nominations! I actually did choose the songs on the basis of how well they fit the scenes they were set to (with one notable exception), because that's how I remember them, and my enjoyment of them is directly proportional to how appropriate they were.
1. 'Carry On My Wayward Son' by Kansas. This is my exception. Even though it's only ever been used as the song for the recap in the finale, this song is quintessential Supernatural for me. Every time I hear it I get that feeling in my stomach that always precedes a Supernatural finale: pride and nerves and sheer excitement!
2. 'Renegade' by Styx. Was there ever a more appropriate song used in Supernatural? I think not. That montage at the end of the episode to the intro, followed by Dean's "We are so screwed." and then the beat kicks in! "The jig is up, the news is out, they've finally found me..." Just epic.
3. 'Do You Love Me' by The Contours. The moment where this kicks in in The End is possibly my favourite moment of the episode. It's so surreal, yet scarily appropriate.
4. 'Back in Black' by AC/DC. *sniff* I miss you Baby! Here's hoping for a Back in Black moment very soon.
5. 'Spirit in the Sky' by Norman Greenbaum. The best moment in Good God, Y'All is where Sam and Dean are coming into the town and witnessing all the destruction and this is playing in the background. Plus, you know: brilliant song.
Other ones that occurred to me but didn't make the final cut: 'One Way Or Another' by Blondie, 'In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida' by Iron Butterfly, 'Highway to Hell' by AC/DC, 'Wanted Dead or Alive' by Bon Jovi, 'Rock of Ages' by Def Leppard, 'Don't Fear the Reaper' by Blue Oyster Cult, 'Heat of the Moment' by Asia, 'O Death' by Jen Titus, 'Eye of the Tiger' by Survivor and 'I Put a Spell on You' by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
I'm absolutely positive that there are other awesome songs that were in Supernatural, that I love and can't think of at this moment, but not doubt they shall occur to me once I've finished posting.
Well, the season seven polls were easy as I basically voted the same as I did with yesterdays polls which was deaths door, hello cruel world, meet the new boss, and slash fiction.
ReplyDeleteSong was hard. Apart from the obvious carry on wayward son, I couldn't really think of any songs that stood out for me. It's not generally something that I notice during an episode. I ended up also nominating eye of the tiger, back in black, renegade and heat of the moment because they are the ones I distinctly remember
I'm not sure nominating a song that wasn't featured, but was an episode title, really counts. But I nominated 2 Minutes to Midnight by Iron Maiden anyway.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Supernatural Songs:
ReplyDeleteCarry On Wayward Son
O Death
Silent Lucidity
(Don't Fear) The Reaper
Simple Man
Bon Jovi - Dead or Alive, Kansas - Carry On My Wayward Son, AC/DC - Thuderstruck, Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and Styx - Renegade :D
ReplyDeleteBut oh god there are just too many! I chose what came to mind first, since I guess those are very memorable. But seriously. Music is always epic! (I agree with all the songs Dahne mentioned in the first comment)
This was kinda easy! And "Carry on Wayward Son" is clearly the only song choice here.
ReplyDeleteAh, oh death! I cant believe I forgot that, that was such an awesome scene. I'll deffinatley have to vote for that one inthe best music to match a scene poll.
ReplyDeleteI agree though that it was hard to pick a song without thinking about how well it fit into thar scene
The music is MUCH harder than the eps, went with:
ReplyDeleteCarry On Wayward Son, because that IS Supernatural to me.
O, Death, I know that should have been when voting for scene, but I loved it.
Eye of the Tiger, have always loved that song, and Jensen made this a winner for me.
Rock of Ages, Swan Song is my favorite ep and the song was perfect. Lucifer/Sam beating Dean to a pulp and I'm here, I won't leave you and Baby playing her part..*sobs quietly* OK moving on.
One Way or Another, I love this song and now this is going to be weird, but I can't help remembering Veronica Mars singing this and have been hooked ever since.
Death's Door
Meet the New Boss
Slash Fiction
Hello Cruel World
This vote was extremely easy for me - Death's Door, Meet the New Boss, Slash Fiction, and Hello, Cruel World. As far as music goes, I chose In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet, Back in Black, Carry On Wayward Son, and Renegade. I think that the song choices are brilliant in this show, so it was extremely difficult to narrow it down, but the last two especially wowed me. I went with my gut on this one, because I knew I'd drive myself crazy if I legitimately tried to think about it
ReplyDeleteIntro to Changing Channels
ReplyDeleteI think the only good episode of this seasons was the first one (Meet The New Boss) the rest was so unbelievably shitty and boring and the same old cliche story I wanted to crawl in a hole and sleep.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song from Supernatural is: Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas, hands down
ReplyDeleteDid anyone watch Three Inches that was on Syfy last night. Had James Marsters, Julian Richings/Death, Alona Tal/Jo and even Kyle Schmid from Blood Ties, it was very good, but was not picked up as a series. Also had Brandon Jay McLaren from The KIlling
ReplyDeleteThanks. There are so many ways to go for this poll. And so many great songs to choose from.
ReplyDeleteRock of Ages was so close for me. It came down to random picking. Not just because of that moment but because Def Leppard was my favorite band in the late 80's. Well them and Bon Jovi. Do You Love Me was also classic. It was one of the songs we road tripped to as a kid.
ReplyDeleteShambala and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida are the two songs that became infinitely better because of their relationship to Supernatural for me. Both were good songs before, but now they are excellent, must-have songs for me. It's amazing how association to a TV event can color how I see things.
ReplyDeleteHa! At first I was a bit worried for Carry on Wayward Son since it didn't have many votes in the first 10 nominations. However, the 42 straight nominations that followed made it a clear favorite. If it keeps this up, it will be the number 1 nominated song, which is of absolutely no surprise to anyone.
ReplyDeleteKnockin' on Heaven's Door was another one I really wanted to vote for. Originally I did not like that song but it was done beautifully in Supernatural. In the end I decided it had a great chance of being one of the songs I would nominate for the song-to-scene poll so I left it for that one.
I still haven't voted in the last poll. It was the only tough one. I will rewatch the episodes once my company leaves and hopefully vote right before the poll closes. As for songs, those are definitely in the top 10 songs I think of when I think Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Loser and Slow Ride were also high on my list of songs that didn't quite make the cut. As for Bad Moon Rising though, that song still creeps me out. Anytime I'm driving and I hear that song, I automatically look around for any trucks being driven by the demon-possessed. Yep that's the power of Supernatural. 6 years later and I'm still spooked by a song.
ReplyDeleteI think my disappointment that nothing was learned in Defending Your Life is why I have such a negative reaction to it. As for Girl Next Door, the writing is terrible, the brothers learn nothing, and it starts a chain reaction of Amy that I hated most out of season 7 so far. Like you, even Colin Ford can't save that for me. It's a shame that this is the episode Jensen directed. weekend at Bobby's was one of my favorites. Glad you are enjoying season 6.
ReplyDeleteAh, that scene at the end of Fresh Blood. That is the way I prefer Supernatural to deal with emoangst. The scene didn't require lots of words, just phenomenal facial expressions of heartbreak on the characters' faces. If more Impala chats were like this one, the show would still be heartfelt and subscribe to the original "no chick flick moments" philosophy of the pilot.
ReplyDeleteHey Man Nice Shot was a great pick. I loved that song even before it was on Supernatural and to have it in the epic Skin was icing on the cake.
AC/DC was hard for me too. There's just so much to love and they have to be the unofficial band of Supernatural. It's hard for me to conceive of someone who didn't have REO Speedwagon in their middle/high school lives. They were such a big part of mine. Glad you got a chance to get acquainted with them and through Supernatural - what a bonus!
ReplyDeleteIf the nominations are any guide, then I would say it will be a Carry On Wayward Son blowout. But really, is there any other song besides Back in Black that is more associated with Supernatural?
ReplyDeleteI added some more blues to my iTunes account after rewatching Crossroad Blues too. I love how Supernatural has exposed me to such a variety of new things. Robert Johnson is one. Anyone who gets high praise from Eric Clapton is someone I don't want to miss out on.
ReplyDeleteSeason 7:
ReplyDeleteDeath's Door
Meet The New Boss
The Mentalists (I'm not nearly as enamored with Slash Fiction as everyone else seems to be)
Hello, Cruel World
Songs:
Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way
Styx - Renegade
Alice In Chains - Rooster
Bad Company - Ready For Love
Bob Seger - Rock and Roll Never Forgets
Ha! I love your first reason. And yes, that is saying something. Anytime I hear Carry on Wayward Son, I automatically smile, my day brightens, and I look forward in anticipation to what comes next. It's a real disappointment when starting the work day is what follows. Still no other song gets me as excited by possibility as it does and that's why I will be voting for it all along the way too. I too loved "Spirit in the Sky" playing in Good God Y'All. It made the whole situation more suspenseful and eerie. Plus, I loved how they made it someone's car radio so it was actually part of the scene. When the scene goes silent after that I was on tenterhooks expecting anything and everything to spring out at the Winchesters.
ReplyDeleteSounds like we need to have a best title contest soon.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing voting too, but I expect it to get much harder in the next rounds when the merely great episodes are knocked out and we are left choosing among some of the best Supernatural has to offer.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Supernatural community at SpoilerTV Kaidan. We're glad to have you and thanks for sharing your song picks. They are some of my favorites also.
ReplyDeletePersonally I don't think even Back in Black is as much Supernatural as Carry On ;)
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that first attracted me to Supernatural was the classic rock music. I think I took it for granted the first couple of years. Now when we get it, it always makes an impression on me and more often than not I end up adding it to iTunes if I don't already have it. Supernatural and classic rock music is such an iconic fit.
ReplyDeleteAh, Veronica Mars. There's another show that had a unique blend of music. Veronica by Elvis Costello was pretty much on repeat for me last summer after I saw the VM episode it was in. As for choosing songs, I simply excluded songs I will probably nominate next time so that I could start weeding down a very impressive list of choices. However, it is certainly legitimate to nominate the same songs in both polls. Quite honestly, the songs that stick out the most to me are the ones that are heavily tied to the scene they are in. Renegade would be on both of my lists if I were truly choosing my favorite songs.
ReplyDeleteYou Ain't Seen Nothing Yet is a criminally overlooked song. I'm glad you added it to the nominations. I agree that trying to determine best song by brainpower alone would kill me. Sometimes you just have to randomly pick from a list of awesome and hope that other people nominated the other songs you love.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think of that one. Love that you did. It absolutely captured that nostalgic cheesy them songs that you secretly love and can't get out of your head that typified my childhood TV watching. I love how they Supernatural-ized the concept and came up with a song I still play on my computer over and over again.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised and sorry to hear this because last month you said you loved How to Win Friends and Influence People because of the Cas mentions. I can understand how frustrated you are that Misha Collins has not been in the most recent episodes but I have found them to be some of the best of Supernatural since midseason 4.
ReplyDeleteThis was harder than I expected - letting go of the episodes that didn't quite make it is always a bit sad for me - I can find great moments in any episode (Yes. Even Bugs)
ReplyDeleteAny hoo:Death's Door - while I don't want Bobby to die, episodes like this are one of the reasons I love Supernatural so much. I have to say I liked S7 Time for a Wedding much more than I expected to - which is great :)Meet the New Boss - fantastic season premier, all round awesome episode. Loved Shut Up Dr Phil too - just not nearly as much.Slash Fiction - the whole 'feel' of it (despite Baby being put in a corner). The Mentalists was great too though.Hello, Cruel World - very narrowly over How to Win Friends.... I love both - especially High!Dean & the Turducken Slammer.I'm absolutely loving season 7 - yes there've been a couple of less than awesome episodes - even I (the queen of the relentlessly positive comment) will acknowledge that - but that's no different from any previous season. Roll on season 8, 9, & 10 .As to music:This was very difficult. The music from Supernatural is the soundtrack to my life now. It goes everywhere with me & I play it over & over & never get tired of it. I have to mention Shambala - I was 12 when it was released & one of the first songs I remember playing over & over again (you know how you do when you're 12? Drove my parents up the wall) (Ooops - just realized I'm revealing my elderliness here - oh well, too bad)I have to say since Slash Fiction I've discovered an appreciation for Air Supply (a feat I would never have considered a possibility - but that's our show for you) Anyway, I threw I'm All Out of Love in there purely for the sake of rarking things up a bit :) You Shook Me Slow Ride
Carry On Wayward Son
Renegade
Your song choices didn't pop up on my spreadsheet. Could you put these in the nomination form under the polls? I noticed it because you are nominating a song that hasn't been nominated yet and I was beginning to think every song ever played on Supernatural had been nominated, as well as a few that haven't aired on SPN. This is definitely a wide ranging list. In a little over 100 nominations, we've had 82 different songs nominated. I'm running out of space on my tally sheet. :-) Should make it an interesting contest.
ReplyDeleteThere are several people shaking things up with "All Out of Love" with you. And even a few votes for "My Heart Will Go On". (Let me go on record as saying that I like this song and loved the movie so I will not be making fun of those who also like them.) In fact there may only be a handful of songs from Supernatural that have not been nominated at this time. Some that do not have a lot of nominations are real shockers to me and songs I completely forgot about have several votes. In other words, my predictions about the nomination stage is as clueless for this one as it was for comedy episode. Let's just say that "Carry On Wayward Son" has no worries though. It has 80 nominations out of 105 people nominating. :-) The clear favorite.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, Air Supply, have always loved their music, Making Love Out of Nothing at All, I played over and over, Lost In Love, All Out of Love. http://www.whosdatedwho.com/tpx_61786/air-supply/songs
ReplyDeleteThe show has actually introduced me to a lot of bands who became favorites of mine..I didn't even know Kansas back then!It started airing when I was just beginning to search a little outside of what the radio was playing and stopped hearing just my country's music. So,it became a huge influence and I believe one of the reasons I love rock so much.
ReplyDeleteHm. I thought I did enter them into the form. I guess not. I'll do it now.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! If you don't mind my asking, which songs or bands do you like best? I love hearing what other people like in case I've missed some great music along the way.
ReplyDeleteUrgh! I guess it was a glitch. I have them in the spreadsheet now. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've rewatched both Hello Cruel World and How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters so now it's time to vote. Although the warehouse scene in HCW is undeniably awesome (maybe the best scene so far), overall I liked HtWFaIM better. The restaurant scenes made me laugh out loud, even on rewatch, and the one-liners are off the charts. Plus it still has gravitas and the Bobby van chats for drama. All in all, a super episode.
ReplyDeletewow. I don't like how the head to head for season 7 is going, lol. :( My poor fav, The Mentalists, stands no chance against Slash Fiction which is so sad because The Mentalists is by far the best one-off ep of the season so far, and just friggin' good anyway! Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI also don't like picking between Hello Cruel World and How to Win Friends...!!! I love them both so much! BUT...Hello Cruel World was amazing and I loved the end scene with Sam and Dean in the warehouse, so I ended up choosing that ep. Plus, I watched Hello Cruel World every day after it aired, and I've only rewatched How to Win Friends... four times since it aired; and rewatchability plays a big part in my voting!
Picking just five songs is HARD! But I have my definitive favorites (which total more than five but what can you do) and before I start second guessing myself I'm gonna nominate them and be done! 1 - Silent Lucidity by Queensryche2 - Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas (obvious choice I know, but it's one of my fav's!)3 - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly4 - Road to Nowhere by Ozzy Osbourne5 - Bad Company by Bad CompanyHonerable mentions would be Foreplay/Long Time by Boston, all the Bad Company tunes, You Shook Me All Night Long, and The Gambler (Kenny Rogers is DA BOMB) and so many I could go on forever.
also, I voted much earlier tonight, but for whatever reason my comment didn't post until now. Stupid airport wifi!
ReplyDeleteWell,there are a lot,but I can give you some examples.. : )
ReplyDeleteAs I said,Kansas is a huge favorite of mine.But there's also Def Leppard,Bad Company,Blue Oyster Cult(I simply adore Don't Fear The Reaper),Bob Seger.
Also, there are cases where I like a few songs of a band. For example, there's a band called Rush that have a song in Wendigo,I think, called Fly By Night.
And then there's Jason Manns and Steve Carlson.I've heard them live at a Con so maybe that's the reason I like them so much, but they're both really good!
Generally,I don't think I can tell you something you don't already know..I'm sure you're much better educated than me...
First song I thought about, even though I don't much like that song :
ReplyDeleteStyx - Renegade.
Other songs were:
Bon Jovi, Wanted Dead or alive
David Bowie, Space oddity
Bob Dylan, Knockin on heaven's door
Black Sabbath, Paranoid
