Hey Guys,
So the world of television is another year older, and in 2011 there have been many, many highlights, talking points and interests that have defined a year where new shows are challenging the old guard in terms of quality, scope, style and value. There's no denying that this year has been good for television!
So you firstly nominated which shows would make the final competition, then you voted in your thousands to decide who should be the winners of each category. Those winners have now been decided!!
I have to say not every category has gone the way I hoped, although some have gone the way I expected. Regardless, these shows have captured the STV audience and as a result have taken home the top prizes in the second STV End of Year Awards!

ReplyDeleteIt's just a bit of fun for you all over the hiatus, and gets you chatting about the shows and people you love from TV
I enjoyed it!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
john noble is a great actor glade he won with most over looked
ReplyDeleteSupernatural always wins
ReplyDeleteI like these one day votes a lot! I really enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteNot unexpectedly, except for the wins for TVD and John Noble, I disagree with everything. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel as though i was watching an award show on the tube.Where the same people win year in and year out.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners!
But i am disappointed........
I really like the pictures used here and Stana Katic -Castle has a beautiful smile!
ReplyDeleteInteresting winners. I guess Bryan Cranston is not as sex-- talented as Jared Ackles, that's good to know (boy, I'll start watching Supernatural in 2012 and my expectations could not be higher).
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this, Adam. I disagree with most of the results, but it was fun.
I actually thought shows like Breaking Bad, Homeland, Game of Thrones or Community would stood a chance against Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Lost or Lost-related shows (Once Upon a Time, Alcatraz) and now Castle, joining the team of the most popular shows around here. But it's a popularity constest first and foremost, and cable shows are not as popular as network shows.
The competition was great! But other than Jensen Ackles and John Noble, the results were a joke :/
ReplyDeleteSo pleased Jim Beaver won in best supporting actor. He did an amazing job as Bobby Singer - particularly in Death's Door - but he's always made Bobby so believable. As for the other categories, I've always thought Jensen Ackles was under-rated, as is Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam & STV for all the effort that went into the competition. You ROCK!! (as always)
Good to see Supernatural did so well, especially with Jensen and Jim!!
ReplyDeleteCASTLE! Well-deserved!
ReplyDelete8 of my picks won. Not bad
ReplyDeletei do miss lost
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam!
ReplyDeleteI totally disagree for almost every result, but I enjoyed the competition. ;-)
Congratulations to winners, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to every one!
ONCE UPON A TIME won¡¡¡
ReplyDelete9 of my favorite shows wins :)
ReplyDeleteFringe, Games of Thrones, TBBT, TVD, Lost, Alcatraz, Once Upon A Time, The Voice and Supernatural.
lol! Most overlooked-John Noble! INDEED, he lost again the best supporting actor!!! >.<
ReplyDeletehappy about Castle! Although I think Nathan deserved it too!! but Stana won by almost the 50%!!
Very pleased with the results!
ReplyDeleteThe only one I would like to be different is the Best Screenwriter..I was hoping Ben Edlund would win!
And I'm surprised about the gap in the votes in Best Drama and Best Actor.I was expecting Fringe,Castle and Nathan Fillion to be much closer or maybe even win.
Glad they didn't though! ; )
9 of my picks won! I was really on the fence about best episode but TVD was the finale so I had gone with that one. Looks like Castle has a good following here, I have heard good things about it (but 4 seasons is a lot to get started on =P), I will stick with Booth and Bones for now. Enjoyed the competition and even more so because we didn't know who was going to win till the end :D
ReplyDeleteYay! Go SPN. Well deserved. S7 so far, and the second half of s6 (ie the 2011 eps) have rocked!!
ReplyDeleteThe irony is not lost on me that most of the people that complain about the same series always being nominated and winning awards usually vote for the same series over and over causing the same winners time after time in SpoilerTV awards shows.
ReplyDeleteI guess what they're saying is not that they want variety.. .they want they're series to get more nominations! XD
Thanks! This was fun, I love SpoilerTV competitions, it's nice when all the fandoms get together to talk about our shows and why we love them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest and commentary Adam!
ReplyDeleteThe polls are always entertaining, more so since I honestly never expect one of my votes to win! XD
Thankfully the award shows will be "a bit" different outcome.....
I was quite shocked Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Homeland had as many nominations as they had in the finals.. I never expected one to win and was just content with the surprise nominations I guess.
ReplyDeleteI know,it wasn't lost on me either, what i actually wanted to say i couldn't,i had to control my tongue, sometimes that's easier said then done.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if i would vote again,it is pretty obvious what the outcome would be and i really do not see it changing anytime soon.....Maybe down the road with enough time passing i would vote,it would depend on what i were voting for,i will have to wait and see........
yayy vdiaries and fringee!!
ReplyDeleteI understand, but honestly these polls are ment as a bit of fun for all parties and to get more action on the site.
ReplyDeleteTo be 100% honest, for me personally the winners are completely irrelevant.
It's about reading the comments, learning things you never knew about series and the camaraderie created from the friendly interaction and even the more heated sparring.
But if you prefer my canned pageant answer instead....
If I can change the way just one person looks at serial TV, I made the world a better place. And that is something worth answering a few pools for! XD
Yay SPN! Three wins!
ReplyDeleteCool, thanks
ReplyDeleteI think one thing to remember about cable shows on channels like HBO and Showtime is that not everyone pays for those channels. It immediately cuts the exposure to the general public.
ReplyDeleteYes, but at least it managed to only come in second on 2 of the polls.
ReplyDeleteFar fewer people took part in the nominations since it actually took effort and thought.
ReplyDeleteWow... Just One For Fringe but hey, you can't have everything, right? And I'm glad it is for John Noble!
ReplyDeleteI really loved this years competition and before I go HAPPY HOLIDAYS my dear sweetie-pies!
*HUG*
♥
Hey, Adam,
ReplyDeletei enjoyed the competition a lot - just a suggestion for the next one - how about we not let supernatural or lost enter - just to see some different results, as we all know the supernatural fans are very commited and the show is well loved - but i suggest is it time for some variation?
ABC won a lot more categories here.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't surprised The Voice beat Dancing With The Stars. I heard it was good in it's first run.
Wow i liked most of the winners. Im glad castle came in 2nd to most of the supernatural stuff because those both i like over the others. Castle won for stana (yay!), cops and robbers which deservered it and for the directing which i was happy about. Supernatural won some good ones thats good and i was surprised on the vd win for that episode lol. Also yay for the voice it was very close on that one!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, jj.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam, I know you voted for John Noble also. :)
Well, it is a popularity contest, not an achievements one, so, yay?
ReplyDeleteAt least Noble won something :/
ultimately, it's what I expected! I think that most of the wins were well-deserved
ReplyDeleteWow. Only 4 of the ones I picked won. Also, I am thinking that not too many frequenters of the site actually watch Breaking Bad. Not bad picks all around though. Sort of figured Supernatural would do so well because it has a particularly large fan base on this site. Myself, I am a season and a half behind. Supernatural and Burn Notice: two shows I haven't given up on but just got really behind on with little interest to catch up. Though I do plan on doing so at some point, I swear!
ReplyDeleteAlmost none of my picks won either, man.
ReplyDeleteDon't be too daunted by 4 seasons of Castle. Because it's like 75% police procedural, it's an easy show to have on in the background while you're doing laundry or washing dishes or something. That's my opinion anyway. I love the show but it's not one that requires all of my attention.
ReplyDeleteI think Jensen's underrated, as well.. I still don't get why Jared gets top billing, as Jensen's really matured in his role, getting better each year. They should at least share at this point, like Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz on Bones!
ReplyDeletewow, sour grapes much? its not the academy awards sweetheart, its a poll for fans of all different tv shows. you want a poll excluding shows you dont like, here's an origional thought.....create your own.
ReplyDeletein the realm of the national and international awards, shows like supernatural are always overlooked. actors the caliber of jensen and jared are woefully and continuously unacknowledged. so when there are polls and fan-based awards out there, of course fanbases as loyal as spn's, are going to go above and beyond to get the show and its actors acknowledged. who else is going to do it? certainly not the cw. the fans provide far more promotion for the show than the cw ever has. i'm sure fans of other shows in spn's position, feel the same about their own beloved shows. is it a popularity contest? of course it is. all polls and awards are. to exclude a show or actors from a public poll, simply because its fanbase helps to get it the recognition deserved based on the complaint that it wins due to popularity and devotion of its fans, is pretty hypocritical in my book.
ReplyDeletei wasnt being sour, i did enjoy it very much - btw i quite like supernatural, however after supernatural winning like the last four polls, i thought i might be fun to open it up a bit and see what would win if supernatural couldnt. sheesh, just a suggestion, no need to get agro.
ReplyDeleteWe were busy voting for the People's Choice Awards. ;)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! We now know the most popular shows on SpoilerTV!
ReplyDeleteSurprised Game of Thrones, Fringe and Community didn't get more!
and you bet LOST is the MOST missed show!
Yay Big Bang, House and ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for this fun competiton. nice to see supernatural still claiming some good titles.
ReplyDeletei wish community or criminal minds would have won in their fields.
i knew lost would win but i would have thought by more.
AS I POINTED OUT IN MY OTHER POST, ALMOST ALL OF THE PROMOTION SPN GETS, IS BECAUSE OF ITS FANBASE. MOST OF ALL THE OTHER SHOWS LISTED, HAVE ALL RECEIVED NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF SOME KIND. SUPERNATURAL HAS NOT. ITS PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE FANBASE GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND JUST TO GET IT THAT SMALL AMOUNT OF RECOGNITION. THE SAME GOES FOR THE TVGUIDE COVER IT WON AWHILE AGO. OUTSIDE OF THE FANBASE, SPN ISNT AS WELL KNOWS AS FRINGE, BREAKING BAD, CASTLE, ETC. SO GETTING WHATEVER RECOGNITION THEY CAN FOR THE SHOW, IS OF PERSONAL IMPORTANCE TO THE FANBASE. TO EXCLUDE IT (OR ANY OTHER SHOW IN ITS UNDERAPPRECIATED POSITION) FROM PUBLIC AWARDS POLLS CAN BE HURTFUL TO THE SHOW. THE CW DOESNT PROMOTE THE SHOW LIKE THEY DO VAMPIRE DIARIES, SECRET CIRCLE AND GOSSIP GIRL (EVEN THO SPN IS ONE OF ITS TOP 3 SHOWS). ITS ALWAYS BEEN THE RED-HEADED STEPCHILD, WHERE PROMOTION IS CONCERNED. SO IF IT SEEMS THAT THE SPN FANBASE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO VOTE FOR THE SHOW FOR AWARDS OR IN POLLS, ITS BECAUSE THE SHOW'S PROMOTION IS BASICALLY LEFT TO ITS FANBASE. BESIDES, THESE TYPES OF POLLS ARE BASED ON POPULARITY CONTESTS, SO TO DISINCLUDE A SHOW BECAUSE ITS POPULAR WITH ITS FANBASE IS A BIT HYPOCRITICAL, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! There were some surprises
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a poll for tv critics, it's a poll for fans. So yeah, fan favourites win. There are plenty of awards that come with mega prestige and are watched on TV by millions of people. So its nice that places like SpoilerTV organize polls for the shows that will never ever win an Emmy or a Golden Globe or a SAG or a WAG or whatever. Breaking Bad gets all the stuffy critical acclaim. But here the fans get to have a say.
ReplyDeleteFYI Jensen Ackles actually is a very talented actor; it's not just the fans saying that, even the New York Times tv critic wrote about what a good actor he is. Just because an actor is good-looking doesn't mean he isn't talented, and it doesn't mean people are voting for him because of his looks. From the same show, Jim Beaver won best supporting actor, and you can't blame that on his looks. Anyone who saw Death's Door knows Beaver has the acting chops to deserve it.
It is precisely because people have all kinds of negative prejudice towards a genre show on the CW that we fans support and defend it so strongly. It is good underrated shows that inspire devoted fandoms, not bad underrated shows.
If you say Jensen is underrated then Jared is even more underrated, it is not uncommon to see Jensen having more popular support than Jared does, and also, Jared does not have top billing, both of the boys have the same billing as series regulars. And if you are wondering why Jared's name is first, it's going by alphabetical orders when it comes to billing the boys, not because who is more top.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to you too!
ReplyDeleteThe two are not mutually exclusive. If a show inspires devotion, it's because it's doing something right.
ReplyDeleteI read about Breaking Bad that its the top show within the entertainment industry--everyone in that circle watches it. But not as much in the general population. Also, something to keep in mind with cable shows, is that not only do people have to subscribe to them in the US, but they are usually not broadcast on TV channels outside the US--and not everyone who votes on this site is American. So they're at a disadvantage.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely catch up on Supernatural. I am really loving season 7! I just had some friends over tonight to watch the episodes they hadn't seen yet, and they burned through 6 of them one after the other. They couldn't get enough, and only stopped because we ran out. They were like, wow, every single one of those was great! Season 6 was done as a film noir mystery--if you know about that genre, or read a little about it before you start, you'll enjoy it and appreciate it even more.
Thanks for hosting this Adam, it was fun! It's nice to talk to other fans and discover new series: I just got into Community because its fans are so devoted. It's also nice to have the chance to give kudos to the shows that get snubbed by the stuffier awards.
ReplyDeleteI understand. I'm not surprised Breaking Bad didn't win. I was surprised it got less 5% of the votes is all.
ReplyDeleteAs a former film student, I'm definitely acquainted with film noir. I have watched the first 6 episodes of Supernatural S6 and it just didn't grab me. Typically I don't tend to get so behind on currently airing shows but I guess I just didn't want to watch it. I'll get to it eventually. I have a lot friends online that are huge Supernatural fans. And they are so thoughtful and intelligent and write super long essays after each episode. It's just not a show that ever pulled me in they way it did them. I feel guilty about being so far behind now, but I dunno. I'm just never in the mood for it. Same reason I haven't finished watching The West Wing. :P
omg what the hell? i am entitled to my opinion, as are you. no need to shout. my comment was made as a fun suggestion, not something sinister. i am not saying its not a good show, chill. i just thought for a 'one off poll' it might be interesting to see different results. i am done talking here, i should be allowed to express my opinion without being harrased. this should be a place for friendly comments and debate. im a done here!
ReplyDeleteIf we go by that rationale, Twilight would be a master piece, Wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I admire most shows and actors nominated, they do fall in the "quality entertainment" category on my book. But I keep my opinion that's just a popularity contest that doesn't truly reflects quantifiable achievement.
IT would be incredibly fun to make people vote for shows they did not vote for this year. XD
ReplyDeleteCompare this year's votes to next year's and void any repeats! XD
That would be an incredible amount of work though and is a bit unrealistic for Adam... but boy it would be fun to see how things were affected! That would add a twist to the poll and open up to new series to win every other year.
WOO! Castle won 3 out of its 6 nominations! CASTLE FTW!!!! :D
ReplyDeletelol almost all of my picks got the last place *sigh*
ReplyDeleteand ABC best channel? WTF?
CASTLE FTW!!! <3
ReplyDeleteWell, my favorite show Supernatural won 3 times. Yet this is a "best" and not "favorite" competition. If this were seasons 1-5 I would say otherwise, but season 6 was really rough to get through, and season 7 is like a rollercoaster of quality. Extreme highs and extreme lows... I voted for shows that are more in their prime as of now. Steadier in overall storyline, character growth and the moment that happens at the end of each episode that leaves me dying for more. Season 7 has been very decent, and it could end up being a very very good season if they lay off the Becky crap, and keep it together, but overall, it's still showing its age and I don't think it deserves "Best" of 2011. 2008? 2009? Maybe, but not 2011.
ReplyDeleteAs for best actor...well, I think that Jensen is a generally well-overlooked actor, and has brought something to his character that is 100% unique and great. Something that even the schizophrenic writing this year both the brothers have had to face. Jensen has demonstrated his respect for fans, and his ability to leap into character as Dean and be all the necessary aspects that are required of the character, and quite well. But he's not as good of an actor as Bryan Cranston. I don't really prefer Bryan Cranston to Jensen Ackles, but damn, the writers/producers/actors are all tuned into each other on that show. Something that radiates on every level while watching an episode of Breaking Bad. That's precisely what Supernatural has been suffering from lately: coherent and well-laid-out writing. I'd say that Jensen Ackles is probably above (or at least on the same level as) anyone else in that group, but Cranston and Lewis have had absolutely stellar seasons, and I feel that maybe they should've been recognized for that.
Best Supporting Actor/Actress: Well, in my opinion Jim Beaver is absolutely stellar. He hails from one of the most universally-acclaimed dramas of all time (Deadwood), he's a recurring character on the ever-brilliant Justified, and he's done nothing but add to the credibility and the heart of Supernatural for almost 7 years now. I personally believe that given something with a difference of dialogue, and a new angle, perhaps a totally new angle/role he'd be incredible to behold. I say that what separates him from the always overwhelmingly brilliant John Noble is script difference. Walter is a much more complicated character than Bobby. Bobby has had to go to lengths that are unfathomably depressing (forced to kill his abusive father, forced to kill his wife...twice...Has saved the world countless times at the expense of his well-being, and happiness...hopelessly depressed) but he's not in the same position as Walter is in respect to each other's narrative. We get a large amount of who Bobby is from the way Beaver portrays him, as the main storyline of SPN revolves around the Brothers Winchester. So until just in the last year or so, we've had 2-3 really Bobby-centric episodes...Well, Walter is not a third wheel on Fringe. He's a main character that caused everything to happen in the first place. He has to bear the loss of hundreds of thousands of people, the loss of his son (in the new yellow world, two times in a row) while feeling the mind-crushing guilt of being solely responsible for the suffering of every human that comes in contact with The Pattern(Which is...Uhmm... all of 'em?) Both characters/actors happen to be favorites of mine. So it was just unfair to vote for one against another. I resigned to be happy with whoever won, because both are very deserving (although there could've been better choices to go along with them...such as Aaron Paul, Jennifer Carpenter, Mandy Patinkin, etc...) So I will call this one a win, I suppose.
The only thing sour here is your attitude. You're being rude, and as a fan of Supernatural, I'd rather not have you speak to people that are of another opinion that way because by association you make me look bad. If you've nothing constructive to say, say nothing at all.
ReplyDeleteIgnore this person. Anyone who types that much in caps lock should be immediately ignored. Sorry about that Sasha. :(
ReplyDeleteNot unexpectedly at all.
ReplyDeleteIt was weird to see the results because I had this delusion that Homeland was gonna win something. :|
ReplyDeleteThanks Wilson :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michele! :-)
ReplyDeleteHa! The carpal tunnel syndrome! Or you could have nightmares about answering hundred polls on every night, be carefull!
ReplyDeleteWhoo! Way to go SPN and LOST ! My 2 favourite shows :D
ReplyDeleteHey Laura ;-)
ReplyDeleteDon't be disappointed, it's just a poll on TV shows and the results are from the crowd of TV fans. I guess we have same answers on most of the polls as always, so I can understand your point of view tough. :-)
But these polls are just for fun and entertainment.
What is important it's how people are answering in real life...and not only about TV shows, don't you think ?
I just hope like you that people will get more and more clever and will need more quality shows - a woman can dream-, please save Fringe! ;-)
That's one of my biggest wishes for new year!
Wish you a Merry Christmas Laura! :-D
I think we all know the gist of who will win here by now so getting upset about it is pointless unfortunately :)
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if I should maybe run an 'under dog' awards here...
ReplyDeleteHaha, like you are surprised by the outcome :P
ReplyDeleteWell, I am surprised at Homeland doing SO badly. No-one here must watch obviously :s
Not begrudging Jensen because unlike how most of his fans treat Jared like shit, even as someone partial to Jared I give them both credit for carrying the show for so long. I just wish Jared could be acknowledged too. The reason so many are invested in the show is because they both made fans care about the brother relationship. So obviously Jared must be doing something right too. I hurt when he hurts, like when Dean died you could really viscerally see Sam's agony and sorrow as he sobbed over his beloved brother's mangled body. I wish the show itself would give him more of a chance to showcase his acting, because the guy can really turn on the waterworks and emotions when they let him!
ReplyDeleteWow....Please speak for yourself and not the fandom as a whole. That kind of rabid frothing at the mouth is what give us SPN fans a bad name. And before you go shouting again -Yes I'm a huge fan of the show and involved in quite a bit of what goes on.
ReplyDeleteSorry Sasha, we're not all like that!
Also I know a lot of Castiel fans want Sam to go away too and aren't invested in the brother relationship, but you can't deny there are still a lot of Sam/Dean fans (questionable fanfic and all) out there that still watch for the brothers not JUST Dean.
ReplyDeleteWell said.
ReplyDeleteI think all of my picks won LOL
ReplyDeletewaterworks and emotions =/= good acting. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI think the result would be easy enough for most people to figure out... #2 would then be #1. Done!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean "sex-talented"? FYI: Supernatural is different than just about any other show around, there are hardly any shirtless scenes or sex scenes in Supernatural. I believe that except for a 20 second scene during the first episode last season, we haven't seen Mr Ackles shirtless (even for a few seconds) since Season 4. We are now in Season 7; not that the fans wouldn't appreciate it... but that isn't what the show is about.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that some people might not realize. Supernatural gets less than 2 million viewers per week. We aren't really a power house. We are just very interested in Spoilers :-)
That's is a strange place to stop watching the show. 6x06 had such a big cliff hanger! The start of episode 7 is where we finally find out why Sam was acting so strangely. Are you didn't give up half way through episode 6? I almost gave up during episode 5. Boy am a glad I didn't!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, why Supernatural? Ok, it's nice, fun to watch sometimes, but it's not the best show on tv. And Jensen Ackles is note the best actor. How can he be a better actor than Jim Parsons?
ReplyDeleteI think that only one of my choices won.
So is Jared far more by not only some in the fandom but by others outside of it. Jared has been tremendous over the last few seasons with a tougher role to play than Jensen who is very good himself but he is by no means the only one deserving of a few pats on the back .
ReplyDeleteIs Jared Padalecki the most unappreciated member of the SPN cast? I think so.
ReplyDeleteIs it time for Jared to move on? Most likely, take a year out spend it bonding with his son then go improve his talents even further. I think the character of Sam might actually been holding him back, there seems to be very little character progression and storyline left to tell there. Sometimes its felt like the writers are just flogging a dead horse.
And lets face it how many people actually like Sam or want him on the show anyway?
I get that it must be annoying for other fandoms going up against Supernatural. It may not be a powerhouse show but it has the largest online fanbase. The thing is Supernatural and the actors on it have little chance of winning any awards except for fan voted online ones, it's the only recognition they get. A lot of the other shows and actors listed here are on the radar of well known award shows, ones that if they win they can actually add to their resume so I'm always happy when we get small victories like this.
ReplyDeleteThe role of Sam was cast first so Jared is first on the call sheet and is first in the billing, he probably makes a bit more money than Jensen for that reason. It's how things work in the industry, doesn't matter who is more popular or how many hours of screen time each gets. I'm sure they've accepted that's how things work so fans just have to accept it to. I do hate when Jensen is called a supporting actor though when they are co-stars.
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles, Jim Beaver & John Noble I can get behind.
ReplyDeleteThe others, not so much. Though I love Supernatural and wanted it to win on principle after so many great years (in spite of inconsistent writing lately and the lousy treament of fans by the CW).
I think Jensen Ackles' result is a joke too
ReplyDeleteWell, since the results come from fans and not critics, best show and favorite show are one and the same.If you consider a show to be your favorite it's very natural to vote for it.
ReplyDeleteFor example,I do consider Supernatural the best show right now.
Also, keep in mind that not everyone can offer an opinion about every show.Out of the above list the only shows I watch(and like) are Supernatural and Game Of Thrones and out of the two I think SPN is better..Never got into Fringe or The Walking Dead and never watched Castle and Breaking Bad.So,that's also a factor.
As for best actor,I think that Jensen Ackles and Jim Parsons are both amazing in different genres. But we can only vote for one...
: )
I do love these polls, thanks Adam. Very glad to see SPN & Jensen winning and Ben coming close. Nice to see one of my favorite eps of TVD on top also.
ReplyDeleteLook at the list and see what show would have won without SPN, Castle came in 2nd, Nathan was 2nd to Jensen and John Noble was runner up to Jim Beaver. So those would have been your winner without SPN.
ReplyDeleteSeems like we are getting less quality shows and more "reality" shows, which I just by-pass.
ReplyDeleteBeckett & Castle are my favorite "couple" on TV, they are just so much fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteNo one on TV can do tears, pain, sadness, & torment as well as Jensen and if we ever get a vote on BEST SMILE Jared should win that one hands down. He lights up a TV with that beautiful smile.
ReplyDeleteThere have been lots of eps that showed off Jim Beavers acting talent and one of them was directed by none other than Jensen Ackles.
So well said, SPN is about FAMILY that just happens to fight monsters. This show keeps fans not by sex, but good story telling and excellent actors.
ReplyDeleteur rught - true yes - but if spn wasnt there, where would their votes go? it might pull some skewed results.
ReplyDeleteIf you have not seen Jared in the movie Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage, pick it up. He plays Thomas and even had to learn to paint left handed. I have enjoyed watching him grow into a handsome man from a 22 year old kid on SPN.
ReplyDeletefair enough, i agree the show deserves merit and awards. i would just find it interesting if the supernatural fans had to chose at different show - where would the votes go? the comp may go in a far different direction, eg castle may not be second it could be first or 10th etc....
ReplyDeleteI would have watched it, but can not afford to pay for those channels.
ReplyDeleteI tell friends that have not seen SPN that the show is about Family. I don't have a favorite brothers, just love the Winchesters, including John, even thought he would never win Father of the Year. lol Jared is a very strong actor, as I said earlier, pick up the movie Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage.
ReplyDeleteWhat you want someone that shows no emotions? Go watch CSI: Miami
ReplyDeleteCount me as a big Sam fan.
ReplyDeleteHey Jini! Yep i know that they are for fun and i took the results with a grain of salt.I was just trying to say that it seems no matter who is in the running,it doesn't matter for as long as certain people and/or shows are in the poll the results will always be the same.
ReplyDeleteI know you think i voted for Fringe,i did when it came to Most Overlooked, but even though it pains me to say i didn't....well i didn't,i know,i know, i love Fringe and i swear i'm not a trader, lol,it is that i found a show that had/has a such a powerful storyline a cast of characters that has totally left me speechless at the end of every episode.Words cannot describe how incredible this show is and how brilliantly it is played and that show is,
Homeland
Claire Danes
Damien Lewis
So i hope you see i am not really disappointed, life has enough burdens that has my full intention.....It was a lot of fun,and i do like reading everyone's comments, ummm well okay maybe not everyone, lol :D
And Jini, i wish you a very Merry Christmas!!!! :-)
I didn't say I wanted no emotion :s
ReplyDeleteHA!!! Sure let me know if you need any help! LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteOK time for me to get some coffee, you are correct and I had not thought about all the votes that would not be put into SPN.
ReplyDeleteActually if SPN wasn't there I wouldn't vote. Because I don't care enough about the other shows. I watch them but they are just shows to watch. Where is SPN is different.
ReplyDeleteAlso not only is Jensen a super actor but all the cast and crew of SPN truly love their fans like they were family. That's also why we are so dedicated to them because they are so dedicated to us.
ReplyDeleteim past coffee - lol, this debate is sooo long. it was a little agro early, then nice and supportive, then interesting - but now im just tired, time for bed. Was a good competition, fun. nice chatting.
ReplyDeleteI think it's alphabetical and not how good they are. I think all credits run that way.
ReplyDeleteJeez,I did not mean to be taken so seriously! Of course it is for fun,and i the comments are interesting,i read the comments everyday after i put my two cents in,and sometimes my three cents worth,lol.....There are a few people who think i voted for Fringe, and i did.but for best drama, actor and actress i didn't.....Oh anyway,i didn't mean to cause a fuss! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow does P come before A?
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteSo we just voted the same way! :-D
I love Fringe and it is the show I would miss the most among the ones in danger.
But my favourite shows this year are really Game Of Thrones and Homeland.
And I voted for Claire Danes and Damian Lewis of course, without any doubt.
Totally agree with you. I just don't watch any reality show.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wish you a Merry Christmas! ;-)
Wilson I think comparing Jensen to Craston and stating that Jensen isn't as good as Craston is unfair, since you have stated, the writing for Breaking Bad is way superior to that of Supernatural. Before any comparison can be made between the actors, I do feel that Jensen should be given the chance to work with superior writing and superior storytellers. Only then can the comparison be made fairly.
ReplyDeleteJensen's ability to actually work with subpar writing does give him credit. He is able 99% of the time to rise above the mediocre writing to make his scenes stand out. I only wish that he was given the chance to be on a show where exceptional writing was the norm.
Ha! Are we sister,lol?........So see, you know what i mean,we both love Fringe, but no matter how much we love it there was no denying Homeland...and speaking of it, tonight is the season finale,i can't believe how quickly it went by it seems like only yesterday......Don't forget it is 90 minutes tonight. :-D
ReplyDeleteI'm with the previous poster who said that they probably wouldn't bother voting if SN were not in the poll. I definitely like some of the other shows and watch regularly, but just don't care enough about them to spend time visiting polls and voting for them. (And I DEFINITELY agree that everyone should be allowed to express whatever opinions they want without being attacked. Not all SN fans are like that!)
ReplyDeleteHey, Bunky....we'd love to have a newcomer to SN, but if you're doing it hoping to see a lot of sexy action going on, don't hold your breath, LOL!! We're lucky if we get one of those scenes per SEASON! (and sometimes I don't even think we got that much.) Heck, most of female fans are thrilled when we get a brief shot of the guys with their shirts off -- and even that is rare. So it's not about that, for sure!!
ReplyDeleteSupernatural actually had 4 wins. Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Support Actor, Best Screen Play Writer, which puts them in 1st I would think.
ReplyDeleteWell two of my picks actually won this time, which is a great improvement from normal when it's zero. Lol. Granted those were House and The Voice...but...
ReplyDeleteStill don't see the Supernatural appeal (at least not to the extent 90% of the site does) but it's not changing so I'm accepting it. :)
Jared before Jensen
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you also. The only show that they are calling reality now that I watch used to be called talent shows, So You Think You Can Dance. I would not walk next door to see any of the people from Jersey Shore or any of those types of shows.
ReplyDeleteokay tenis1822 spn is a grate show and it shows threw it's INTERNATIONAL fan base that they won i feel that it was fair spn's devoted fans supported a good show to make it win something it deserves and it's sad that people have to fight about something that doesn't even matter that much spn is a awesome show and again it show's threw it's fan base if you wanted other shows to win then maybe you should took a little more time to vote for them like a real competition is like tierd of people bashing a good show :/
ReplyDeleteWell, I was spoiled on that so I already know about Sam. Like I said, I'll watch it eventually. I'm just lacking the motivation. :/
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see John Noble taking first place for Most Overlooked.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm weird because I never watched any talent show either! I heard a lot about The Voice (I quite like Adam Levine) and SYTYCD but I just feel like I don't have enough time to waste it on watching it. May be one day! :-)
ReplyDeleteEeeer I don't get what attracts people on watching Jersey Shore or those types of cra... shows! ;-)
I'm not sure if you misread, but Castle clearly won the Best Screenwriting award... :P
ReplyDeleteA couple of my picks won!
ReplyDeleteCastle was surprisingly strong, and although the Supernatural dominance is waning a little, it will still be tough to beat in 2012...
Possible though... Shows like Once Upon A Time have grown in online fan-bases, very, very fast!
Interesting idea, but I try to keep it fair for everyone. When I'm feeling in an "I wish Supernatural would Piss Off" mood, I just look at the rest of the results and ignore the fact they're winning :P
ReplyDeleteCredit to the show, it proves how popular and devoted the fans are, but I have noticed trends suggesting that other shows could put up more of a fight next year!
Solely on the Capitals, I was close to removing this post, but I figured to be fair and just state that Sasha was offering an idea, not to punish Supernatural fans, but to offer other shows a chance to get some of the glory...
ReplyDeleteNo need to get angry and hit the caps lock!
Don't worry, unless I choose to do a competition which has nothing to do with Supernatural, then the Winchesters will be there.
I view it as a challenge for the rest of TV to beat them...
Don't worry about it Sasha... just enjoy the competitions! :)
ReplyDeleteDo you think I have nothing else to do than go through vote after vote after vote :P hahaha....
ReplyDeleteIt would be intriguing I have to admit! I'm already thinking up ways to get more fans of more shows involved, and to give the Winchesters a challenge!
The can smell the word "Supernatural" from afar... It's like they're the Hell Hounds who hunt after any vote they can get :P
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for John Noble over myself (if I was in a TV show of course :P)
ReplyDeleteAlphabetical goes by last name, not first. Jared got top billing because TPTB consider Sam the lead character. The mytharc is his storyline and his alone. In that sense, Dean is only a supporting character and that has not changed over the past seven years, therefore Jared continues to get top billing over Jensen. I think Dean is considered by most fans as a co-leading character despite the wishes of TPTB and because of Jensen's immense talent.
ReplyDeleteFor a while in a couple of the polls, the Supernatural gang forgot to turn up... The Lead Actor poll for one.
ReplyDeleteThen they turned up :-/
It's Vince Gilligan, not Galligan, hurts my eyes every time I read it.
ReplyDeleteDidn't expect any of my fav shows to win, it was clear that Supernatural, Fringe and the other obvious shows would dominate. But it was a nice change to see quality shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones or Homeland get quite a great number of nominations. I think a year ago this would not have been possible.
One thing I've noticed is that fans of shows like Breaking Bad, Homeland, Game of Thrones etc etc tend to spread their votes and don't blinker their view to one show.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went through the nominations, some wrote Castle for every award, Supernatural for every award, Fringe for ever award, whilst when Breaking Bad got a nod, you'd see a wide range of shows in their nomination form.
It's a shame more people don't take a wider perspective on things, but at the end of the day, it's something I always expect to happen!
I'm glad that some of my favorite shows won some polls, and of course disappointed with only a few results. But it's always fun to see what's popular around here.
ReplyDeleteAgreed...
ReplyDeleteDo it!
ReplyDeleteI've found that no matter what type of competition I run, some shows always find a way to get in :P
There is a reason I used that picture! :P
ReplyDeleteDude... have you learnt nothing from the various competitions we've been through :P
ReplyDeleteThankyou very kindly! Bobby's recent episode certainly gave him the edge in a poll many expected John Noble to win. Had the poll gone on another few hours, I think Noble may have nabbed it, as he was catching for the last 6-8 hours...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it alphabetical.... Jared....Jensen...
ReplyDeleteWell done on getting so many right. I didn't :P
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the competition...
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check back for next year's two summer competitions, they're much bigger and better!
Glad you liked it... :)
ReplyDeleteLike you expected anything different mate :P
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
ReplyDeletewell I didn't expect Homeland to take this big of a beating but I guess it's nice that shows like BB or Homeland even got nominated :P
ReplyDeleteWhile I wouldn't begrudge either Jared or Jensen leaving at this point if they feel they are turning down better offers, I wouldn't want the show to continue with either Sam or Dean gone. And yes, I like Sam and enjoy the stronger Sam episodes. There aren't nearly enough in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteAs for beating of dead horses regarding Sam and Dean's relationship and storylines, that's something a little creativity could fix. There can always be a new chapter written.
Someone (I think Dahne) posted here recently what they make and I'm pretty sure they were equal. They both seem to be treated as equal co-leads in the promotions and everything, so I doubt who was cast first is still an issue when it comes to the important things.
ReplyDeleteBleh. This site might as well just be called SupernaturalTV.com. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised about Supernatural - solely because it's Spoiler TV. There's a very clear cut fan base here - even if I disagree with it - I can't be shocked.
ReplyDeleteHaha - I found that ironic as well.
ReplyDeleteNice to see "Supernatural" do the natural thing.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to everyone! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo happy about SPN, OUaT and Castle, GoT, John Noble(!!!) and Alcatraz;)
Also like Bones a lot, but I just fell for Psych recently and kinda wish it won. Not enough votes though. Too bad, maybe next time;)
And BTW: I really don't get why are people so angry about SPN (comments to the post). I love A LOT of shows and vote for many of them and I'm also big SPN fan, I'm very glad about its victories, mostly Jensen's cause even though he gets lots of love from fans in voting, he's always judged as "pretty and sexy, not talented guy with crazy girl-fans voting for him" by many people.
Please, can we just be happy about the contest and vote for our favorites in the next one without pointless argues;)
And great contest, Adam! Thank you very much:)
im not really happy for House.
ReplyDeleteI think Grey's has been way better this season then House. I break my neck to watch Grey's i settle for House on dvr now.
I was shocked Homeland didn't do well. It is the BEST new Drama out their!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will check! :-)
ReplyDelete'No one on TV can do tears, pain, sadness, & torment as well as Jensen'Yes they can.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam, awesome as always.
ReplyDeletefair voting and deserving winners i say! Jensen, Jim and Supernatural!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCastle is the best tv show right now and I'm in love with Stana Katic. She such an amazing actress!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a lot of work for you!
ReplyDelete"Hire" and intern! XD
How did HIMYM get higher votes compared to Community?!
ReplyDeleteI must admit that it'd be interesting for me to see whom I'd vote for if Supernatural wasn't on the ballot. For example, I would've voted for John Noble as supporting actor if Jim B wasn't on the list. But if Supernatural IS on the ballot then fan loyalty and the deep love I have for the show forces my hand. Removing Supernatural could result in interesting outcomes as fans like me will consider other choices. But it also runs the risk of bringing down the turnout numbers as fans like Sue wouldn't vote.
ReplyDeleteLol, the message boards were a little slow for some reason (PCA fatigue? Some of us did stay up and vote for hours.) I remember when the call went out on my favorite message board and I checked the links some of the polls were closed. I couldn't go ahead and post them to the other places where fans gathered.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it could be, but isn't it unusual to start with the first name? maybe I've never noticed other shows doing that as well
ReplyDeleteI don't agree that Jared's role is tougher than Jensen's, that's your opinion only, not a fact.
ReplyDeleteSPN THE BEST FOR EVER!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this poll, it was fun.
ReplyDeleteI like that Castle, Supernatural (yay, Jensen Ackles!), The Big Bang Theory, and Once Upon a Time won.
I'm less enamored with the writing and stories on Supernatural than I used to be (Season 6 is very hard to get past, I'm hoping the show doesn't get any worse), but I want the show to go out on a high note. I don't fault the acting, especially Jensen's, and Jim was great in Death's Door.
"Then they turned up."
ReplyDeleteFan fatigue. lol it's a bitch.
While I would agree with you Bob, I am gonna put you on the spot. Who else do you love on tv that does tears and torment so well? I think you may be correct, but I need names here, please. Abstract arguments don't change people's minds. They need examples.
ReplyDeleteApparently not.
ReplyDeleteI voted for JN over JB. I think JB is talented but Walter is such an outstanding character and nobody could bring him to life as well as Noble.
ReplyDeleteMy fave new show too!
ReplyDeleteSeasons 6 and 7 for SPN have been vastly substandard IMO. If you are interested in the show, I would go back to the beginning and then stop at the end of season 5. In my opinion, this show's peak was in season 4.
ReplyDeleteBig Bang is still a great show even after all these years. I am pleased to see it get so much love.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this. I have to admit that Jensen is really the only reason I am still watching Supernatural. The show's quality has declined horribly these past two years and it's really just habit that has me recording the show still. Lead actor was the only category where SPN still gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteLooking solely at the pole, after watching seven seasons of Supernatural and the pilot of Homeland, I can honestly say Damien Lewis, Bryan Cranston may not pull the tears and torment but he's certainly a better actor.
ReplyDeleteThen comes Jensen in a comfortable third, followed by Nathan Fillion (who is equally overrated in the fan community as Jensen is underrated by awards givers) and then Jim Parsons, who shouldn't really be in the category with four main drama actors, because it really gives him a tough ride.
I agree I love TBBT and I cant wait for its 100th episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk people, get with the viewing. :D
ReplyDelete(I love Homeland and Breaking Bad!)
How can you not love Homeland and Breaking Bad! But then again how can you not love Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteThe mytharc storyline is Sam's? Sam's a leviathan?
ReplyDeleteI think I can probably blame my lack of interest in catching up on some fundamental shift in the show. Because for years I quite enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWell I got the last 3 right, suprised Homeland didn't win any
ReplyDeleteYes, great wins for SPN. I think Jensen is criminally underrated. And with 'OUAT" and American Horror Story things look exciting for 2012 as well.
ReplyDeleteCall it what you want, but you came off rude, alright? Historically SPN fans have always had to fight for all the exposure that the show gets, and I understand your reasoning, but you immediately called "sour grapes" on another SPN fan who thinks that maybe other shows should also have a chance in these polls. I don't necessarily agree that SPN should be left out, but your "contrite" (Which came off more like catty and inflammatory) responses aren't going to do anything for the SPN fandom. You're just going to make us look like we're easily angered by someone's opinion. You could've easily posted your second response to Sasha in normal caps. Reading it, I can see that it wasn't all just aimed at her, but seeing a big block of Caps Lock text is a basic party foul when it comes to posting one's opinion. You must know that it comes off to others as screaming and can be taken the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteYou can successfully argue your points without demeaning someone else as well. Your whole first comment makes you seem antagonistic and possibly immature. Re-read her post. She was just making a suggestion, mind you a suggestion that even Adam himself said there's not a chance that it would happen, and she also stated that she's a rather big fan of SPN as well.
Lol! I know, right??
ReplyDeleteI agree!....And Adam, thank you for all your hard work on these polls,it is a lot of work and i'm pretty sure you also have a life outside of STV,lol....
ReplyDeleteMaybe by the time the next poll rolls around, people will have watched new shows, and maybe, just maybe the outcome will be a little different.Hey,i can hope can't i,lol ?...Merry Christmas Adam!
Not being rude so don't take this the wrong way but when I read your comment I laughed. It was like 'Well no one can win if Supernatural is in the running so take them out." Maybe Supernatural wins because it is a GREAT show. ;)
ReplyDelete
