STV Best of 2011 TV Awards - Day Five - Most Overlooked Performance, Best Medical Procedural & Best Cable TV Show

16 Dec 2011

Hey Guys,

It's the penultimate day of the competition, and we have three polls today before the big two categories are unleashed tomorrow. Sunday will be the day of the results, so be sure to check in then!

Yesterday saw three relatively close polls, with one decided by the merest number of votes. As they always say, every vote counts, and that was certainly the case in Day Four!

Today firstly we have the Most Overlooked award, which is for the actors you feel have been most overlooked this year by the other award ceremonies. Who deserves more praise than they currently get?

Secondly is the Best Medical Procedural category, with five shows all related to the world of medicine trying to claim one of the STV awards!

Finally is the Best Cable Show award, with five shows that have a home outside of the main network channels trying to be the best of their land! Who will win this intriguing battle!?!

This is it. The final competition of 2011 continues.

Let the battles commence!

Most Overlooked Performance

Best Medical Procedural

  1. Emily, Body of Proof, and The Walking Dead!

  2. I voted for:

John Noble - Fringe. Horribly overlooked by the awards ceremonies!
House MD - One of my favourite shows!
Game of Thrones - Best new show of the year, loved it immensely, more than The Walking Dead and Homeland! Was a tough call though!

  3. John Noble
House (although I watch none of them)
Dexter (although that was tough!! I love all but True Blood and Homeland!)

  4. Emily, Greys and Homeland

Gould have gone with Private Practice or Body Proof  or House love those too

  5. John Noble, Body of Proof and the Best Cable TV Show was tough but I went with Game of Thrones.

  6. John Noble
Grey's Anatomy (only because it's the most "medical" of the medical procedurals)
    Homeland

  7. i'm happy u chose Grey's even with your side note.

  8. Ah, an easy one.  John Noble without a doubt or hesitation.  Royal Pains by default and none of the above for cable.

  9. Zachary Levi, Body of Proof and The Walking Dead!

  10. Well, this was the easiest day yet for me.

    1. John Noble for Fringe. No one else on that list even comes close to emulating his genius. The fact that he hasn't yet won an Emmy is nothing short of tragic.

    2. Abstained from voting. The only show on this list that I've watched is House, and I gave up on that mid-way through S5 because it descended from a medical drama into a soap opera (IMO), and judging by what I've heard about the latest storylines, it's not a decision I regret.

    3. Again, abstained from voting. I've never watched any of the shows on this list, and the only one I plan to watch is Homeland.

  11. Had to go with Zachary Levi because of the overlooked concept.
If you'd said "Best Medical Drama" I would have picked Royal Pains, but for procedural...Body of Proof.
Homeland has just blown me away.  Game of Thrones is a close secondd

  12. John Noble, House, Breaking Bad.

  13. John Noble, Body of Proof, The Walking Dead.

  14. Okay today one of the categories just confounds me!

How does one chose the best cable series when to start with all the best series are on cable anyway and that list is 3 or 4 of the top 5 shows on TV! Wow! In the end I went with Breaking Bad over the two best new shows in the past 2or 3 years, Game of Thrones and Homeland.

    Best Cable Series:
    Breaking Bad.
I think when a product is as good for 4 seasons as Breaking Bad has been and manages to have its best season yet as a matured product it earns the Best Series award. That was a tough call though since Game of Thrones and Homeland are right there as the best TV ANYWHERE.

    Most Overlooked Performance:
This was easy since only one of the actors is overlooked. XD John Noble it is. The others are capable, but not nearly in the same league. They may not be playing the same sport frankly! XD

    Best Medical Procedural:
Fairy tales are popular this season I guess. Everyone knows there is no such thing as a good medical procedural! XD

  15. That Best Cable category was as brutal as a Dothraki wedding party!

A  SpilerTV poll by Adam without at least 3 deaths is considered a dull affair....

    ReplyDelete
  16. john noble.
none - don't watch their recent seasons.
    breaking bad, just because...

why is simon baker in the overlooked category?? he's the only one i looked at when watching the mentalist.

    ReplyDelete
  17. JOHN NOBLE
    Royal Pains
Homeland (only because I just had to make a gut decision out of Homeland, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Emily, Body of Proof, and The Walking Dead FTW!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  19. Interesting. Mid-S5 was when I checked out of House, as well. (Also yay John Noble! and enjoy Homeland!!)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Simon Baker, Royal Pains, Breaking Bad

    ReplyDelete
  21. Most Overlooked Performance - John Noble, someone give this man some awards!

Best Cable TV Show - Breaking Bad, why wasn't Justified listed?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Zachary Levi, Grey's, and I would have said American Horror Story for best Cable show, but as it's not here (WHY???) I chose The Walking Dead.

    ReplyDelete
  23. sorry for the silly question... what's "overlooked"? English isn't my mother tongue and this word does not appear in babylon :( I want to vote for John Nnoble beacause I love him but I'm not sure if this is negative or positive vote. Help, someone?

    ReplyDelete
  24. overlooked means under appreciated, better than people think, not given enough credit for how good they are.... etc

So John Noble fits perfectly! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. John Noble, House .

The last one was soooooo hard. I went with Homeland in the end, but only just over Dexter and The Walking Dead

    ReplyDelete
  26. Because after all it's a popularity poll and The Walking Dead, Dexter & True Blood while most likely being a bit inferior to Justified (haven't watched it yet, but plan to do so) are way more popular. In the end I think it's a pretty good list.

  27. John Noble/Body of Proof and Game of Thrones....
    {**}

  28. John Noble /House_md /Game of thrones

  29. John Noble, don't watch medical dramas. and then GoT.  The last one was a tough choice as I really like both it, True Blood and Homeland and I am also not too adverse to watching Dexter.

    ReplyDelete
  30. John Noble, Royal Pains, and of course Breaking Bad.

    ReplyDelete
  31. John Noble, Body of Proof and Breaking Bad.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I voted for Emily & the Walking Dead

    ReplyDelete
  33. John Noble (he is by far the most overlooked and simultaneously the best actor from that list)
    House M.D.
Game of Thrones (this was a very tough choice with Homeland being a close second)

    ReplyDelete
  34. John Noble, House and Game of Thrones! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Another most overlooked performance is Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Cuddy) for House MD.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Emily
Grey's - it's the only medical show close to reality
True Blood - not that i like vampires

    ReplyDelete
  37. LOL, loved this comment.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ohh thank you so much! I voted for Noble and then I was afraid that the meaning is overrated :) Then my votes are: John Noble & Breaking Bad (I didn't vote for medical series because I don't like the genre.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Most overlooked- John Noble

    Best medical-Grey's

    Best Cable show- Homeland

Now this one was easy for me,but to be fair i haven't watched some shows yet,and i dropped a few. From all the comments i have read over the last few months they are all deserving,so good luck to all. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Emily Deschanel for Bones! Also it's the only show I watch =P

    ReplyDelete
  41. John Noble a hundred times.
    Grey's.
    True Blood

    ReplyDelete
  42. Most Overlooked Performance: John NobleBest Medical Procedural: House MD (?)
Best Cable TV Show: Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  43. Really hard choice on 1st one. Sorry guys love you all, but it just has to be John Noble.

    ReplyDelete
  44. John Noble, Grey's, Game Of Thrones (but sorry for Homeland).

    ReplyDelete
  45. John Noble, don't watch that Medical procedurals.

But that Best cable show decision was very difficult. Could have given it to any of all these shows. Only because Homeland is fresher in my mind right now it won out against Game of Thrones.

    ReplyDelete
  46. John Noble. Don't know why he's been overlooked

    ReplyDelete
  47. John Noble, for its earlier seasons House, Homeland

    ReplyDelete
  48. Simon Baker! Game of Thrones!..
About the medical show.. about 3 years ago, I'd say House.. but not anymore. The only medical show I'm watching now, it's A Gifted Man.

  49. Well, looks like I missed an opportunity to  vote for HOUSE.
