Friday Night Lights, Rescue Me and Entourage went out on their own terms, but some other great shows didn't have that opportunity, such as United States of Tara, Human Target, Lights Out, The Chicago Code, The Event and Outsourced (yes, Outsourced was a good sitcom, not as great as Community, Parks & Rec, The Office or 30 Rock, but after a few episodes it got pretty good). Well, at least they all found a way to have season finales working as decent series finales, except perhaps The Event.
Hopefully the 2012 tribute won't include Community, Parks & Rec, Raising Hope, Nikita or Fringe.
I miss Chicago Code, it was such a good show. FOX did not give it a chance. I was so hurt United State of Tara got cancelled there were so many more stories they could have told. The Closer is such a good show it will be missed. I didn't get into Hawthorne but I know plenty of ppl who loved it.I dont think the chick from V is sad it was cancelled considering she landed on a gold mine named Homeland!! Damn you Oprah for leaving my 4pm tv time slot, my weekdays are very empty.
Thanks! So many TV shows, I didn't have realized! I miss Lie To Me the most, but I'm quite bitter about Chicago Code's, Friday Night Light's, Memphis Beat's, Men Of A Certain Age's, The Defenders's, Prime Suspect's, The Playboy Club's cancellations. May be not the best quality shows ever but I think some of these have potential to get better.
I am not sure if i am over emotional or what but i found this very sad..jeez it must of been the music! i didn't realize just how many we lost this year,i know i will miss Chicago Code,Friday Night Lights, just getting into Prime Suspect, damn NBC,you leave the crapping shows on and never give the good ones a chance.Stargate Universe was finally hitting its stride, its to bad it took to long,it really was slow come to think of it....I going to look at this again and see what i missed.
Always a lot that leave us every season, but I miss a few of the series quite a bit that left this year.... Namely Greek, Friday Night Lights and Rescue Me... and Two and a Half Men (it's not the same series now... (be that a good thing or bad in your opinion). I regularly watched The Event, V and Entourage, Smallville, SG-U, but I don't miss them whatsoever honestly....
Of the first year series this year or last I will only miss Criminal Minds : Suspect Behavior, The Chicago Code, and Better With You. I tried a lot more and enjoyed some more of the freshman series, but I won;t miss them at all.
I gave up on Camelot, Lie to Me, Big Love, and Human Target before the met their final demise. Human Target Season 1 was great , but Season 2 went down hill fast when they tried to shoehorn the female cast into the series....
Hey Jini i agree, Chicago Code was pretty good i don't understand why fox cancelled it. I also think Memphis Beat had another season under its belt. With Friday Night at least we knew the end was coming, and it didn't take us by surprise. :D
I'm okay with all, but one of those being cancelled, but that one (FRINGE) I want to stick around so much I would even accept the others staying too if it meant Fringe staying on the air! XD
I never got into any of the shows at the start of the list, but I watch Nikita regularly. I just think it's gone down hill very very fast this year and I'm not sure I would miss it with its current direction.
My list would be Fringe, Hell on Wheels, Cougar Town, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, and Person of Interest,.
My guess is 2 or 3 of that list could be cancelled since all of the shows are currently on the bubble or at least not yet renewed. My guess is PoI and Suburgatory are safe and my gut says HoW is safe. Cougar Town, Fringe and Happy Endings I am getting less and less hopeful about seeing on the 2012-2013 schedule.
You're so right, Chicago Code was a good show and I don't understand this cancellation either. That's all about the ratings and money I guess. Really it's such a shame that quality isn't an aim or an obligation for networks.
Even though it went dark in December 2010 and we don't know what direction the boys drove, I still think Terriers should be on this list. And where is my Terriers DVD, FX you are starting to piss me off.
The most likely reason for Parks & Rec to be spared is because they're behind Community in line for the guillotine. P&R's ratings aren't a whole lot better than Community's, but it's NBC and they can't cancel everything.
- Besides the fact it's getting a little soap opera-y, I've been enjoying this season of Nikita well enough. - My biggest TV wish is for Fringe to get its fifth and final season but I don't see Fox being that generous. - My second biggest wish is for Community to stay on the air by any means necessary. - You're right about Person of Interest and Suburgatory. They're not going anywhere. (unless CBS decides to pull an "Eleventh Hour" and cancel the show despite solid ratings because the network wants to go in a different direction)
Smallville was able to go out on It's own terms but still miss It.I am sure The CW also misses It since It could get people with nielson boxes to turn In on Friday nights.
I remain pissed about the axing of V.
Also miss The Event.
I certeinly hope Nikita Isn't a 2012 casultry but The Non Vampire DIaires CW whows I watch(It,ringer,Hart of Dixie) are all possibilty for axing.
Yep ever since Boston Legal got cancelled while getting well over 9 million viewers per episode and garnering 52 award nominations, I have lost faith in ratings or critical praise being enough to keep a series on the air.
One might think that would give me more faith in lower rated series getting renewal, but alas, sadly it does not. XD
Re Eleventh Hour: I forgot about Eleventh Hour honestly so I looked up its ratings. Wow! I never knew it got over 11million per episode. Honestly I thought it was a weak facsimile of the original series with Patrick Stewart.....
This is so sad :( We lost so many great shows this year. I didn't even know about 75% of them. I'm going to miss Two and a Half Men with Charlie Sheen. I just can't watch it now, not the same without Charlie.
Perfect list. Don't want any to go. Would be most devastated by Fringe and Community though. If I had to choose I would let Raising Hope and Nikita go. Not that I want to let go of either!
The Event and V: agree. I was just watching it to get to the end to be honest. Entourage: I figured I had stayed with the show so long and it was only 8 episodes more so I finished it out. But I ain't missing it either. SGU: really got better in the second half of the season and I was sad to see it go. But I'm not heartbroken over it either. As far as Big Love goes, I am actually marathoning the show right now. I've watched 2 seasons in 2 1/2 days and can't stop. So I am loving it!
i hope we dont lose Parks & Rec, Nikita as well and i hope we dont lose Gossip Girl but i have a feeling ill lose 2 of those 3 gg and nikita due to terrible ratings which sucks cause nikita is getting good this year
I will catch up one of these days on Big Love I'm sure. The main reason I quit watching was the extended hiatus between seasons... Once I got behind some I just never got caught up I guess.
Sure, half of these shows are a complete joke and waste of money and energy (Sarah Palin's Alaska, for one), but it is sad how harsh the television business can be. Some of these shows deserved another season, if not more (V, Law and Order: SVU, Mr. Sunshine).
Wow, add a few more clips and this tribute is sitcom length. Hard to believe there were enough pilots to fill all of these spaces. We may get to the point where there is not enough TV to keep 583 channels on the air.
A lot of good stuff was thrown away in 2011. I understand the logic of it, but I hate this ratings dictatorship that rules unchallenged in the series world. Only great majorities have the right to watch (or keep watching) things that interest them? Is it really the only possible measure?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Thanks! I'm still bitter about "Better With You's" cancellation.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be losing a lot of shows next year, though!
Lights Out :(
ReplyDeleteWe lost some good ones this year.

That seemed to go on forever. Out of all the shows listed, I definitely miss The Chicago Code the most.
ReplyDeleteSide Note: There's no reason for The Closer to be on the list. New episodes will be airing well into 2012.
I miss Chicago Code, it was such a good show. FOX did not give it a chance. I was so hurt United State of Tara got cancelled there were so many more stories they could have told. ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% but that's a mighty tall order.
yea I noticed that as well
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Aww, this is sad...Yeah, I need to get a life...XD!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure as hell better not include Nikita or Raising Hope! I LOVE those shows! theres sooo much more to tell!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if i am over emotional or what but i found this very sad..jeez it must of been the music!

Smallville :( Big Love :( Greek :( Mad Love :( The Event :( No Ordinary Family :( The Chicago Code :(
ReplyDeleteI miss TAHM with Chalie Sheen :(
ReplyDeleteI dont see Parks going there. But Community, Raising Hope and Fringe is going there i think.
ReplyDeleteAlways a lot that leave us every season, but I miss a few of the series quite a bit that left this year....
ReplyDeleteNamely Greek, Friday Night Lights and Rescue Me... and Two and a Half Men (it's not the same series now... (be that a good thing or bad in your opinion).

i kind of wish v was still on lol that was a good cliffhanger
ReplyDeletegonna miss United states of tara, No Ordinary Family and V. On a diff note alot of shows where lost in 2011 wow
ReplyDeleteIf Terra Nova gets a second season it will get it for two reasons:
ReplyDelete1.) To make it look less like FOX made a huge mistake in green-lighting the series, and...
2.) To wrap up Terra Nova's overall story in a proper way.
CLEAR EYES FULL HEARTS CAN'T LOSE!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad :( We lost so many great shows this year. I didn't even know about 75% of them. I'm going to miss Two and a Half Men with Charlie Sheen. I just can't watch it now, not the same without Charlie.

ReplyDeleteI totally get it. Some shows benefit from a marathon viewing. The long hiatuses can really strip the momentum of a series.
ReplyDeleteI really miss 'Big Love' and 'Brothers and Sisters'
ReplyDeleteSure, half of these shows are a complete joke and waste of money and energy (Sarah Palin's Alaska, for one), but it is sad how harsh the television business can be. Some of these shows deserved another season, if not more (V, Law and Order: SVU, Mr. Sunshine).
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had forgotten how many show had been cancelled. I just hope that my favorites such as Community and Raising Hope aren't on it in 2012.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. "The Event" You were taken too soon.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. "Entourage" You lived hard but died beautifully.
R.I.P. "Lie to Me" You didn't even see it coming did you? You are missed.
was being erica there?
ReplyDeleteFringe deserves a proper wrap-up before Terra Nova does in my honest opinion.
ReplyDeleteDitto here.
ReplyDeleteAwww The Chicago Code, Lie to Me and Stargate SGU and of course Medium which just gets a small mention in the rolling list at the end of that vid :(
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's a lot of shows .. I miss The Chicago Code the most .. that was a great show..
ReplyDeleteI agree, as would most people. Unfortunately for us, fairness isn't an aspect of the television industry.
ReplyDeleteI am mad about Prime Suspect, Hawthorne and The Closer... strong women get the boot, a pity
ReplyDeleteThat video was so well done. Other than The Chicago Code, I'm fine with this.
ReplyDeleteSmallville!!! I hope Fringe, Supernatural, Ringer or any CW show for that matter!
ReplyDeleteI miss AMC. They replaced that show with a talk show about food? And not even healthy food.
ReplyDeleteWow, add a few more clips and this tribute is sitcom length. Hard to believe there were enough pilots to fill all of these spaces. We may get to the point where there is not enough TV to keep 583 channels on the air.
ReplyDeleteCanceling Community and Raising Hope would leave me with no comedies I watch on a regular basis. That's unacceptable to me. I would also miss Fringe.
ReplyDeleteIf you get Netflix, you can now instantly stream Terriers.
ReplyDeleteI miss 'Lie To Me' so badly. It's been off the air nearly a year (Jan. 31) and I still miss it just as much. :(
ReplyDeleteWonderful tribute, had me in tears. :D
ReplyDeleteCan't believe how many shows we go through in a year. And the ones we lost before the summer seem so far away already.
Enjoyed the vid! I miss Life Unexpected, The Cape and of course (though it's time was up) Smallville.
ReplyDeleteA lot of good stuff was thrown away in 2011. I understand the logic of it, but I hate this ratings dictatorship that rules unchallenged in the series world. Only great majorities have the right to watch (or keep watching) things that interest them? Is it really the only possible measure?
