  2. :'( I can't wait 5 more weeks... :'(

  3. I'm betting that Bobby will survive and go rest at Jody's house since Kim keeps on coming back to the show!

  4. What. The. F*ck. They can't do that!

That was such a emotionally charged episode...the second time in the history of the show where i have shed a tear. Bobby's worst memories...and killiing his dad...and saying Sam and Dean were his boys and he adopted them....and the standup to his dad...and Rufus and Karen....

Jensen and Jared knocked it out of the park with this ne. And im surprised the levis didnt finish Bobby off there. It wouldve been smarter. Not that im complaining.

It was so sad when Sam and Dean disappeared :(

    I can't wait 5 weeks!

  5. Loved it. Even though I hated it. Which makes no sense.
I'm heartbroken. And yet, I'm pleased in a strange way - one of the things I love about our show is the willingness to go to places we all think they won't dare. And they do it anyway.
Amazingly awesome acting from everyone - ever reaper-guy.
I need to see it again.

  6. Ok.. Bobby is so NOT dead. They will revive him, they have to. Sera can NOT kill off Bobby, she's not that friggin' stupid! So I am just going to ignore the fact that he died in the end. I refuse to believe it.

Now on to the episode.. Awesome... :) I wasn't sure how I felt about the way it jumped around in Bobby's head but I finally decided I liked it. I loved finding out about Bobby's life. And he killed his father...wow...

Jim Beaver knocked it OUT of the park with this one. I was clapping when he told his father he adopted to boys. That was just perfect. It was great seeing Rufus again too. I thought they might go to a flash back of when Rufus' wife died but they didn't.

Now to the cons.... Can they make Dean anymore pathetic? I mean seriously, he walks around growling and crying. He was NOTHING like Dean. Sera should be shot for destroying his character.

And speaking of destroying characters... can they make Sam more useless??? He does nothing but sit in the corner and make miserable faces. Enough already Sera, bring the boys back!

9 out of 10 for me and would have been a 10 out of 10 if they could have let Sam and Dean BE Sam and Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Rather boring up until the last 10 minutes and then it ended on yet another "is bobby alive?' moment. These writers seem to be milking certain ideas too much.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I was just watching Bobby watching Sam and Dean fighting over Licorice with such a fond expression on his face and I'm just bawling my eyes out because he just flat-lined. This was such an emotional episode for me, I usually I feel so dumb crying over a show but I can't help it this time. SPN how could you!? I was expecting a happy ended and they just went and ripped the rug right from under me during that last 5 minutes. I can honestly see Bobby's love for Sam and Dean and OMG it's so hard to think coherently past the initial 'HE'S DEAD??!?!?!?!!'

    Sigh*

  9. He's brain dead. His choice is to remain as a ghost with no memory of his life or go to heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  10. That was really sad. I didn't appreciate more John bashing, but everything else was really well done.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think Sam and Dean were just subdued in their grief. I do admit it was strange for Dean to attack that guy.

    ReplyDelete
  12. We never know with the show, everything can happen

    ReplyDelete
  13. Since when would SN ever give us an actual happy ending.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This ep was mostly filler, but what filler it was!! I absolutely loved the look inside Bobby's head. How his own childhood made him decide against having any kids of his own just to have two rugrats named Winchester forced on him and find out he was father material after all. Having Rufus help him out was a welcome return to the Grumpy Old Hunters. It was emotional all around.

I loved Dean's reaction to Dick. Seems like he's found his reason to get back in the game. Of course if Bobby does die, I think he'd be on the brink of turning into John, but I still don't believe Bobby will die. He's not the type to give up and go quietly. If that Reaper wants him, he's going to have to fight. Because Bobby won't stop fighting. Telling his dad that he 'adopted' two boys was heartbreaking. He had as much to do with who Sam and Dean became as John did. Maybe more. I think he's what gave them their humanity. A very touching moment.

Jensen and Jared did an amazing job with what was essentially support roles. I can't help but feel for them, their fear and emotions were so real. They do emotion so well.

All in all a very well written, well acted episode. I loved it. And as long as I can hold on the the fact that Bobby is still telling that reaper no, I can have a good holiday season and wait for January 6th. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't think it was strange.  He doesn't want to deal with the idea that Bobby could die and so he fought back, by hitting something and freaking the guy out.  I think that was very Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I just found their whole personalities so wrong. Sam huddled in the corner battling Lucifer and Dean snarling and teary eyed.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I could understand that - but his reaction shuldve been more of a slow buildup, instead it seemed rushed to me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't know. If I was in the same state of fear, waiting for word on a loved one who was critically injured, I'd be a little upset if someone started talking about harvesting their organs, too. Bad timing and Dean has never been good at accepting that he can't fix things. He still believed Bobby would be fine -- so do I -- and talking like he was beyond hope played on Dean's fear. And we all know how Dean deals with fear. :) The guy was lucky Dean had enough control to tell him to leave. I thought his lashing out by scaring the guy without actually hurting him perfectly in character.

    ReplyDelete
  19. DAMN YOU, SERA GAMBLE!!!!!
Ok, deep breath...I have to say I loved the episode.
I was expecting the usual...a deal with Crowley, a deal with Death. It was great that we had Bobby fighting to save himself instead. That was an inspired twist.
And I loved the whole going through your worst memory to get back to life...another very interesting twist.
And have to say...once again, Jim Beaver just knocked it out of the park. How that man doesn't get more recognition for his acting ability I'll never know.
Nice to see Rufus again, however briefly.
And speaking of knocking it out of the park...though their respective parts were a lot smaller than usual, both Jared and Jensen also killed this one (no pun intended). I swear they can do more with their eyes than most actors can with volumes of words!
The final scene just tore me up...almost as gut wrenching as the Christmas episode, which I didn't think was possible.
And of course, we're left hanging for a freaking MONTH! I'm still holding out hope that somehow Bobby survives. I just refuse to believe that he'd fight that hard just to pass off those numbers to the boys. Yes, they would be ok on their own but that doesn't mean they should lose Bobby. They've lost enough...obviously, Bobby's lost enough. I'm taking heart in the fact that we don't know for sure...that means there's still hope.
Oh and I wouldn't want to be in Dick's shoes after this. Sam and Dean are NOT going to take this one lying down!
Whew...well it was a hell of a first half. Looking forward to more and better in the second half.
I'd give this episode 4 out of 5 - loses one for leaving us hanging!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hear you there, Pigeon...it was the third time for me to cry, but easily the most emotionally charged episode since the Christmas one.   Man, I wasn't expecting it to be THAT rough....sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Did anyone else feel they could have picked a much better reaper?  This guy was so boring.  They should have had a reaper JUST LIKE BOBBY come after him.

Bobby obviously didn't play ball growing up.  Sure could shoot, though.

Bobby gets a whole episode before Sam. Fangirls say ouch.

    Why was Dick there?

    ReplyDelete
  22. The only other time I cried was in What Is and What Should Never Be at the grave scene.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agreed.  Oddly, I thought Sam and Dean were more like their old selves in this one then they had been all season long.   Remember just last week Dean didn't even give a crap whether they kept the bus from going over the cliff and Sam was more worried about whether Dean was ok.  Tonight they were back to being concerned about their surrogate father.   Sam being the one who's all about the facts and all emo and Dean not being able to deal with his fear so he lashes out...that actually kind of reminded me of the Season 1/2 Sam and Dean...I just hope it's a starting point and they'll keep going this route from here.  We've had enough of the unfeeling/unreacting Sam and Dean.  As bec said, let us have our boys back already!   Tonight I think we saw a flicker...at least I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  24. when I'm satisfied with the ending then they'd know it was a happy one :D lol

    ReplyDelete
  25. Boring?  I found it confusing at first but overall I just thought it was powerful.  Boring is one word I would never have used to describe it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. thesilentpoethosea3 December 2011 at 03:36

That's what happens when you feel such strong emotions, especially if you're Dean Winchester; you act before you think, and you make rash actions and rash decisions. Dean confronting Dick in public, that was unexpected, but that's what feelings do to you.

Doesn't seem out-of-character to me at all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was fine up until they showed Bobby's last memory...and then I just kind of lost it.  :'( And I never cry. What is this show doing to me....

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've got my fingers crossed, too. Let's build on this (and save Bobby!) and go into the second half of season 7 with the boys united, focused on the bad guys and recognizable as Sam and Dean Winchester. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree for the most part, but let's not take too much away from John.  Yeah, he had his flaws...some pretty major ones...but I think down deep he loved his boys.   Remember, he wasn't a hunter, he was thrown into this with no preparation.   But he did the best he could.   Sorry, I can't help it, I just have a soft spot for John...blame Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the man is a marvel!

That said...when it came to male role models the boys didn't do too badly between John and Bobby.  :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think maybe it seemed rushed to us because the majority of the episode was from Bobby's point of view so what little we got to see of Sam and Dean in reality just shows their overbalance of emotions as they deal with it almost behind the scenes and what we see is what the initial build up has led to and how strongly it is now affecting their behaviour.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My favorite show of the season, I bawled so hard.  So will he live or be a friendly ghost..I vote live.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah. Unless Cas (or another angel or god) comes back and heals him.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I suppose it all has t do with the viewer - I would be llike Sam in this situation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Huh...that one did not get me, though it was great.  I bawl through the Christmas episode every time I watch it.   And I cried when Sam died...Dean's whole "What do I do?" soliloquy.  That was just gut wrenching.

    ReplyDelete
  35. BOBBY!!!!! I'm still sad about it and it's 40 min later. Yea yea I know this is SPN and they can bring him back blah blah blah, but it wouldn't be right if they did that. It just wouldn't feel right. I love Bobby to death and cried my eyes out when he was dying and taking us back to his nightmarish life moments, and the look on the boys' face just made it worse, but if they bring him back to life, I'll feel like his character will be ruined, idk I'm probably not explaining myself right but it'll be like his "emotional death" would have been a waste. Does anyone understand what i'm trying to say?? Anyway it'll be messed up either way. He comes back as a ghost, he's screwed..he's gone for good, and it's still screwed. = (

    ReplyDelete
  36. AMEN!!!   From your lips to Sera's ears! :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah I came close at those ones. Another close call was Mystery Spot when Dean dies on Wednesday and Sam says "I'm supposed to wake up."

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree and thought Dean acted like he should have with the hospital guy, and he was lucky he only hit the glass instead of his face.  I was fine with the way both Sam & Dean acted.  Loved the ep and when I saw Sera had written it, I had that flicker of hope also.  This will be one I will remember, like Swan Song.  May have to go back to the poll and change my vote for best ep.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree on the reaper...I thought he was a little "underdone" too.   When he first showed up for a second there I thought he was Chuck.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hear you but I can't agree. Bobby fighting hard enough to get back to his boys would just be quintessential Bobby.  He's too tough to go out on anything but his own terms.  There just has to be more to it than this...I can't believe they'd kill him now after all this.

Did anyone else find it ironic, though, that the last thing he did...if he does die...is pass on coordinates to the boys?  That has a familiar ring to it.   But I refuse to believe that's literally the last thing he'll do...uh uh, not Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  41. You think that Crowley can (....will...) help Bobby? Since he want the boys to kill the leviathans and the boys won't have too much spirit to keep going if Bobby dies (especially after Dean's threath when he thought Bobby was dead in the 7x02)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Furthermore I'd like to say this is the very first time, I have cried thru the entire series, and that's saying something, with Bobby's death...he's family man!!! = (

    ReplyDelete
  43. I liked the reaper, thought he played it perfectly, trying to convince Bobby there was nothing left for him in this world and he needed to come with him.  BOBBY JUST KEEP SAYING NO.

    ReplyDelete
  44. He did go out on his own terms. He fought to get the message to Sam and Dean and succeeded.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anything's possible.  I was sure Crowley was going to have something to do with saving Bobby...he still could.   This is SPN, you just never know.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, but he wasn't gone.  Why are you so sure he's given up?  He didn't give the reaper an answer.   And when has Bobby ever done anything the easy way?    There's still hope!

    ReplyDelete
  47. LOL, I with you on JDM and I loved John, he did the best he could in an impossible life.  Dean found out what he went thru when he was trying to keep Ben and Lisa safe.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm with you! I'm so scared, but I'm not considering he's gone for good 'til this story is over. With SPN everything can happen, we saw characters coming out of worse situations before

    ReplyDelete
  49. Not like situation like this or worse never happened before where they found a way out, anything can happen

    ReplyDelete
  50. I have to stand by what I said, but I hear what ur saying, Yea it would be nice if it was more than this..but it's been 7 yrs. it was gonna happen sooner or later, I hate to sound like Sam on this one but it could be real...Heavy sigh!!!! Once Bobby said "Igits"...That really felt like Good-bye.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I actually thought the reaper was pretty good. His non-emotional approach was a good foil for Bobby's 'homespun, cornpone' character.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, I can see that.  Tessa was always pissed at Dean and the reaper working with Roy the faith healer was just plain ruthless.  This guy kind of made it seem like Bobby was inconveniencing him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. He's dead and we're in our "back to basics" season without angels bringing people back to life. The reaper's question was about staying behind as an angry spirit. I can't imagine Bobby would choose that after all he's seen.

    ReplyDelete
  54. McDreamy can save him.  Time for a crossover.

    ReplyDelete
  55. This was an awesome episode, but it broke my heart. :( I don't want bobby to diiie.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I don't think they would have given him such a big emotional send off if they planned for him to climb out of bed in the next episode.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Emmy winning performances tonight.  Incredible episode.  Bobby is definitely their Dad.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Demons can only bring people back if someone sells their soul. Crowley made that clear in season 5 when Bobby sold his soul to him.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm completely with you on John. He did the best he could and I've always had a soft spot. He did love his boys, but having Bobby there to remind him they were just kids and throwing a ball around was just as important as weapons training gave Bobby an important part in their lives. John was focused and, let's face it, he hunted out of revenge for the most part. Sam ended up more like John than Dean and I'm guessing a large part of Dean's tendency to protect and forgive comes from Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  60. demons also made it clear that they can't change a deal but Crowley changed it twice, he gave Bobby's legs back for free and he changed the deal from ''I'll give it back'' to ''You have 10 years''

    ReplyDelete
  61. The acting was Emmy award winning tonight.  Dean was so emotional that he was losing right and left.  I was not surprised he went after Dick.  Sam was trying to be logical.  Poor Sam.  He was trying to be strong for Dean and himself.  Dean couldn't.  This would be one loss too many. Their faces at the end said it all. Bobby is their father.  John's loss was deep but they never reacted like this.  I loved that Bobby stood up to John over teaching the boys to be boys.  He was a good Dad to both of them.  I hope and pray he's not really gone.  This is definitely an incredible mid season cliffhanger.  I am highly impressed with the writing, directing, and above all the fabulous acting of all three men.  It was emotionally charged but much of Supernatural is. Thank you, Sera.  You gave us a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I cried over Dean's speech when Sam died.  I cried at the fight and ending of episode 22 in season 5.  I cried here.

    ReplyDelete
  63. You are completely right. Whatever happens in the next ep, at this point, Bobby is not dead. He didn't look like he was going to give in to the reaper and a reaper can't take him without his consent, so for now, Bobby is still fighting.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yeah, and we've never seen characters completely buck what they were being told by supernatural beings in this show before.  I'm not saying he's gone until we KNOW he's gone...and we dont' know it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oddly, i couldn't actually cry at the end of Season 5...it was too big for crying, it was beyond tears.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Crowley didn't change the contract. He originally wrote it in a way to give wiggle room for getting Bobby's legs back, and I took the "I'll give it right back" like "Don't worry about the fine print."

    ReplyDelete
  67. WOW.  so much different than I thought it would be, but in a good way - I love that they sent him out (assuming he's gone) as a true hunter, watching him fight his way through his memories to get Sam and Dean the piece of information that they needed.

I loved learning about Bobby's past, though I hated the circumstances, and it was interesting to see the people, places, and events that he revisited while "at death's door" - it was heartbreaking to see him face his father, and to learn what he's carried with him his entire life, though I LOVED when he talked about claiming Sam and Dean for his own.

On the other hand, it was hard to see Sam and Dean on the other end of things, especially with Sam trying to get his big brother to accept that he can't save everyone, no matter how hard he may try.  I think this was one of the few times in their lives that they felt powerless, and it was heart-wrenching.

The end scene was incredibly perfect - a great memory for Bobby to end on - and I'm pretty sure I couldn't see the screen through the blur of my tears at that point.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think that makes TOTAL sense haha.. I thought it was really well done, though I hated them for doing it.. so I'm in the same place!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I had the same thought about one loss too many.  When we saw what it was doing to the guys, you could just feel it.  I'm just not sure they could simply bounce back from this one.  Yes, I know, loss is a part of life, especially the hunters life, and sure Bobby's lived an exceptionally long one for a hunter so in one way it was bound to happen.  But at the same time...how the hell much can the boys possibly lose?   Can't they get a break for once?   As Dean said last week...how many times have they stopped the bus from going over the cliff and now this is their reward...losing someone else they love?   I'm sorry but it just feels like Sera and the writers having been doing nothing but stripping away at the boys all season long and it has to stop some time...enough is enough.  Losing Bobby would just be too much.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't think it was boring at all.. I loved getting insight into a character that's been so mysterious up until this point - we knew that he'd been a fixture in Sam and Dean's life, and that he had a wife he had to kill when she became possessed, but Bobby was still kind of an empty shell until now - we never really got to see past the gruff exterior, and I loved seeing what made him into the man we knew

    ReplyDelete
  71. yeah, he REALLY looked like Chuck.. I was confused for a little while

    ReplyDelete
  72. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle3 December 2011 at 04:25

NO BOBBY NO!!! You helped fight azazel and lock the gate to hell, you were there to stop a few of the 66 seals, u helped fight and died and came back in the fight against the devil himself, you pretty much helped lead to the destruction of the Mother of all Monsters, and you even fought against Cas when he turned on them. And now he dies from the leviathan boss Dick.... NO!!! i bet tho he didnt choose to go lol for some reason but i do hope he didnt choose that. Great show but unfair wait... The only thing im not looking forward to now is dean (especially) and sam now being dramamatic after losing now bobby....first cas now bobby, sera u r killing out best people!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Since the boys didn't looked too devastated in the promo give me hope that Bobby will make it by some miracle, the hospital staff didn't gave up by the end of the episode

    ReplyDelete
  74. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle3 December 2011 at 04:28

is it just me or does anyone else think that crowley might have something to do with bringing bobby back from the dead? (if they bring him back anytime soon).

    ReplyDelete
  75. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle3 December 2011 at 04:30

when sam and dean beat lucifer and we found out sam was still alive (but before we saw season 6 which showed us it was a evil souless sam).

    ReplyDelete
  76. You don't have to make sense. You are Jilly. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. by the way, what a nice ''''''''''spoiler'''''''''' about Bobby being in purgatory in Death's door, from Kristin, there never was any mentino of it...I knew that spoiler was false

    ReplyDelete
  78. Dean was said to be more like Mary in his temperment. I think John was also very protective - his protective instinct was the reason he didn't want Sam going to Stanford. And all the Winchesters have shown forgiveness.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Just a totally brilliant hour of TV. So wonderfully written and realised. Such stunning performances. This show really does knock it out of the park. Of course my heart is breaking and my head hurts from crying so much, but that's what you get being a Supernatural fan! Can't wait for January!

    ReplyDelete
  80. You should've seen Luke.

    ReplyDelete
  81. you're right, besides this was the perfect goodbye.

    ReplyDelete
  82. remember the Dick rule of "there is no such things as monsters"

    ReplyDelete
  83. I loved that Dean confronted Dick in public, I'd made the comment last week that by taking over a well known identity you're rolling a dice, a lot of negative comes with being famous, just like Dean said. Dean pushing his buttons in public, making sure he was being filmed? Of course he did it out of anger and grief, but a good way to take him down or make it difficult for Dick Roman would be to somehow out him public, a scandal or something. I think that would be cool!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I remember those two, and now this.

    ReplyDelete
  85. lol... he is dead, or he is becoming a ghost. Do the maths

    ReplyDelete
  86. nah... bobby is gone. Deal with it, just like with cas.

Besides is Crowley helps the boys Dick is going to fucking kill him.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Bobby's death was the motivation the boys needed to kill this leviathans.

    ReplyDelete
  88. LOL yeah Kristin doesn't know shit about SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  89. If Crowley doesn't help the boys, Dick is still going to ''fucking kill him'' after he take care of the rest of the world. the characters got out of a lot of impossible situation before, we just never know

    ReplyDelete
  90. 5 weeks sucks but damn at least its a short break, plus you have a set date when its coming back unlike Community at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  91. It was a nice twist that instead of the episode focusing exclusively on what Bobby meant to the boys, we got to see what the boys meant to Bobby. I wasn't expecting that, and it was a nice surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  92. As much Supernatural is an emotional series, I have never really shed a tear except for the last ten minutes of "Swan Song".  I'm a grown-ass man and I can say that "Swan Song" made me sad.  From the fight between Samifer and Dean, to Chuck's entire speech, to Dean walking up to Lisa's door and thinking this could have been the last episode of Supernatural and how it would've still rocked if it was the series finale.

But, I will say that seeing Bobby flatline was very, very sad.  And actually, more sad than when John died.  But, maybe it's due to us knowing Bobby for seven seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Thanks. I think. *is confudes*

    ReplyDelete
  94. As pissed as I am that they killed off Bobby, this us SPN, every character has died at least once. Sam and Dead have died dozens of times, mostly during season 5. There might not be angels but there is always something else around the corner that boys are willing try to save a loved one. I say bobby will be back by episode 20.

    ReplyDelete
  95. You think that Crowley thinks that the boys can't kill Dick without Bobby?

    *sorry for my bad english

    ReplyDelete
  96. sadly i dont think he will survive i think this is Bobby's Last Episode :( Bobby you will be missed RIP Bobby he can always come back as a ghost though

    ReplyDelete
  97. live_laugh_love12083 December 2011 at 06:25

BOBBY!!!! =(  I wont believe it until I see it.

I really loved this episode though. We got to see Rufus again which was awesome! and we got even more insight on Bobby's past. And I did love his confrontation with his dad and telling him about adopting Sam and Dean. But I have to say, I didn't expect the whole young Bobby killing his dad.

I'm a little depressed that we have to wait January for the next episode though... =(

    ReplyDelete
  98. So depressingly amazing!  Bobby!  I liked how they kept playing out all of what was happening to Bobby so I got annoyed anytime they went out into the real world but hey it was what was driving the whole Bobby-coma thing.  After a VERY rocky first half of the season, I can say it ended on a depressing high-note.  If Bobby's dead, I hope he chose to be a ghost so he could just show up to help out the boys whenever, if he's not...then hurray!

  99. Awesome ep - but heartbreaking. I cried like a baby for the first time since Swan Song. They CAN'T kill Bobby. I refuse to believe it - except this is SPN so nothing is off limits. That is what makes it an exciting show - but also an emotional roller coaster. I hate, love and admire Sera in equal measures just now.

    ReplyDelete
  100. We don't know that Bobby is dead. That is the cliffhanger. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that he makes it. Come on Bobby. You can do it! Your boys need you.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Er - feel the need to keep pointing out (for my own peace of mind as much as anything) that we don't know Bobby is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Crowley definitely has the power to bring Bobby back without a deal. He brought Samuel back and he'd been dead for 30 years. He is the king of the crossroads demons and also king of hell. So he could do it. Doesn't mean he will or does, but he could.

    ReplyDelete
  103. OKay, quality wise, this was amazing, I have always been a sucker for the "Journey to the center of the mind" plot, and this was a great addition to that genre, I mean, just awesome solid writing and acting, I mean, one of the best episodes of SPN quality wise.

But the other thing is, this show is getting too fucking depressing. I mean, books or movies get to be this depressing, because after you are finished, you can shake the depression off, but in SPN, this thing, this grieve and depression and blackness and melancholy, is starting to cling to me after +/- 5 years no matter how many sunny day strolls I take or kittens I hug.

SPN lately hasn't been able to marry the grieve and the joy in life, its has just become a downwards spiral of sadness and I'm not sure if I'm up for it. I mean the show is good, maybe even better than ever, but the tone is just too dark at this point for me.

Because how's Bobby suposed to get back? his brain is freaking destroyed, dead, there's no going back unless some supernatural means or if he comes back as a ghost, but that's not really the point.

This show is getting too depressing man, and I am too attached and invested in it to be blasé about it.

So I'm guessing I'll stop watching this weekly and just dump all on a day to make the sadness pass more quick, maybe later I'll go to the petting zoo and for icecream.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Totally agree. If Bobby was really dead and there was no question about it it wouldn't be the subject of a cliffhanger. The only point of doing that is if there is some uncertainty. Bear in mind that both Rufus and Dean have been targeted by Reapers and told they have no choice but to go with them. Both survived to tell the tale.

    ReplyDelete
  105. That scene with Bobby and Rufus (RUFUS! YAY!) talking outside of the hospital was just chock full of great lines.

I spent the whole episode just thinking how terrified the Winchester Boys looked...and then the organ donation scene.  yeep.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire episode not sure if Bobby would survive..hoping they would kill off our beloved Bobby.  Lots of, IMHO, fabulous, again IMHO, Emmy caliber scene work both on the writing and the acting level.

But what am I to make of the ending?

I have zeros negative comments about this ep on a quality level.   Am royally poking my tongue out at the writers if they kill Bobby of.  But if he had to go....this was the way to send him off.

    ReplyDelete
  106. He might not be brain dead?  He could have amnesia?  Just all his memory gone?

Yeah.  Yeah.  He's most likely dead but...if so, why not just say it and done...and go into the break with it final.

    ReplyDelete
  107. that isn't the cliffhanger.

the cliffhanger is if Bobby goes with the reaper or becomes a ghost.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I've been reading the comments and although I haven't seen the episode, it seems that it was a great hour of television and a wonderful tribute to Bobby.

I love the character of Bobby and the way he loves the boys, but if he has to go, it's better going out a hero and to be remembered and venerated for what he was.

If the writers have decided to go down that road, I just hope they don't resurrect Bobby,as that would ruin all the angst of the episode, and not make us believe in whatever cliff-hangers they give us in the future.
A  great show has to make you feel emotion.
In this case, it is a sad one, but even that is better than watching something and not being touched at all!

We must look to the future.

They say that when one door closes another opens, so we'll wait and see.
I really feel sorry if this is the end of Bobby but I know it's only an anticipation of what I will feel when Sam and Dean meet whatever fate is intended for them!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Then there is always the possibility that Crowley will step.  Remember crossroads Demons can bring back the dead and being King of Hell now he probably doesn't need anyone's soul to do it.  If the boys can't function because they lost Bobby there goes Crowley's chance to get rid of the Leviathans who've already threatened his existence.  Plus I think this event sends Dean into a nosedive and he cracks up by the end of the season.  Dean taking a header off the cliff of sanity would be a good cliffy to Season 8 I'm thinking...

    ReplyDelete
  110. Bec I agree with your assessment of the episode...awesome!  Great seeing Rufus again.  I think it goes back to my comments above where I think the writers are setting us up for the next big event...Dean loosing his s**t.  He's been breaking down slowly since the beginning of the season and when he and Sam returns to find Bobby's house burned down he says to Bobby's answering machine that if Bobby was gone he was going to strap his 'Beautiful Mind' brother into the car and drive off the pier.  I am so looking forward to the second half of this season....

  112. I am afraid that Bobby is going to be stuck in a vegetative state and a machine is going to be keeping his   meatsuit running but he will be stuck in Purgatory or be a ghost or something. I am soo sad and devastated by what has happened. I can't believe Sera took Bobby away from us. Even though this will be a shorter hellatus it is going to be so awful waiting. I am in with drawls already so here is something to help easy our pain. Enjoy   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqk7H_KyL7U&feature=player_embedded#t=0s

  114. ooook.... ok, ok, ok.... so, let's pretend that the "I-can't-do-anything-more-so-let's-just-die" look on bobby's face at the end never appeared....let's pretend it, ok? cause the more I think about it, the more I convince myself this was Bobby's last episode, and I don't want to think that, or else my Christmas holidays are screwed... SERAAA! >:( damn it Sera, I hate you and I love you at the same time because of this episode.... I voted awsome but I wanted to vote awful too... DAMN IT!
this is the second time I was teary-eyed watching a SPN episode... first time Swan Song, and now this... and it got me a full sixth season to be able to watch Swan Song again without getting on the edge of tears! If Bobby really dies I won't be able to watch any episode with him in it without feeling terribly sad, I know it... and there's plenty of awsome episodes with bobby in this show, damn it!
but I loved this episode...LOVED IT... bobby's past, bobby's time with sam and dean... aaaawww now I'm crying again :'(    when he killed his father I was like "what???" O.O but his father was really a d**k so I'm not really sad for him... and dean and sam may have daddy issues, but john was nothing like him! he was not flawless, but he really cared for his boys and I don't think he ever hit them... at all!
bobby and dean playing baseball....sam and dean discussing about movied and chuck norris on bobby's couch... the pop-corns...karen....rufus...
and the real sam and dean? I felt for them in soooo many ways! I think they acted in character, perfectly in character: dean lost his control (he's always been the "act-first-think-later" type of guy) and sam was trying to hold himself together (the scene with him touching his hand was magnificent in my opinion!). sam's silence in opposition to dean's shouts was a nice touch in my opinion, it showed the difference between the brothers' two different way of grieving...
well, right now I'm quite speechless...I'll come back when I'll be able to write without weeping on my keyboard...

    ReplyDelete
  115. Well, the writers sure weren't kidding when they said that the brothers will lose everything..Loved the episode even though I shed a few tears, which is something that a few shows/movies can get me to do(it used to happen so rarely before Supernatural).

This is the kind of episode that makes me really worried about Bobby because, unlike with Cas,it felt like a goodbye and I'm hoping like crazy that it wasn't.And I don't want to get into the endless conversation that the show is about Sam and Dean, because yes,it is about Sam and Dean,no one is saying otherwise but as a viewer I'm invested in other characters too and my personal opinion is that there's plenty of room for Bobby and Cas in the story. So,I still believe that Cas will be back soon and after this episode I'm hoping for it even more(if that's possible),because he may be one of the few chances Bobby has.

As far as performances go,episodes like this one make me feel very sad that Supernatural isn't the kind of show that can earn its actors some award nominations.Which is something I'll never understand..

And the hellatus officially begins!I swear,it's the only thing I hate about Christmas..At least it's only one month,we'll make it through..with a lot of marathons! ; )

    ReplyDelete
  116. A sea of tears is my review of this episode. The part when Bobby said "They're my boys" and his last memory got me hard. I think he died, and that why I'm saying I want him BACK. And suddenly I really missed Cass too:( He could save Bobby, if only he was here... Hold one, guys!
BTW How brilliant was our cast? I mean Jim, Jensen, Jared... they're brilliant! Though actually, that's nothing new;)

    ReplyDelete
  117. If could have been Cas who brought Samuel back.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Brilliant, I need a double awesome in the voting poll!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Crying T____T And to imagine that I have to wait till January 6! *i has a sad*

    ReplyDelete
  120. Fantastic episode, though finding out Bobby's a patricide as well as a wife-killer didn't do much for my opinion of him. Nice to see Rufus again--before whatever happened between the two of them. Loved seeing his depressing life and learning why he's as messed up as he is. Helluva cliffhanger for the mid-season break.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I felt the same thing, but am hoping for the best.  It has been a long time since I cried this much.  I was not surprised we would not find out until Jan.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I have cried in several eps, but only SOBBED in 2 of them, the beating and Dean doing nothing to protect himself in Swan Song and this ep.  I am very afraid Bobby is really gone and if so

    ReplyDelete
  123. The doctor/Sam said his brain tissue was dying. I think the writers think they're expected to have some kind of cliff-hanger before each break.

    ReplyDelete
  124. This was the most perfect goodbye episode they've ever done.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Even if they did retcon the demon mythology, I don't want the angel in their pocket to just be replaced by a demon or witch in their pocket. I wish they hadn't killed Bobby, but instead isolated the boys in a different, less permanent way, but it happened. If they undo such an emotional death, then we'll never believe in realistic consequences again.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I've been thinking the same thing. Aside from the other issues with this scenario, I don't see the motivation for Crowley.

    ReplyDelete
  127. The focus needed to stay on Bobby, so if the reaper had been a more colorful character, that would have detracted from that. So I thought he worked.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Emmy caliber all the way around, but the sad part is the show is on CW and people that pick shows for the Emmy think if a show is on this network it can't be any good.  One of the main reasons I NEVER watch the Emmys.  CW is my network of choice, more of my favorites run around here. lol

    ReplyDelete
  129. I cannot wade through all the wonderful observations made by my fellow SPN fans. The gamut of emotions are as wide as the emotions running though last nights episode. Last night I wept, but in my anger and disbelief that Sera would actually terminate Bobby was HOPE. Dean and Sam NEED a freaking break Sera and so do I.(we) The writing was fabulous the acting was superb. When Bobby said they are MY BOYS I shouted damn right at the TV! He LOVES them and they LOVE him and they NEED him. How about NO DEMON DEALS.............NO DEMON INTERVENTION..NO ANGELIC INTERVENTION......how about when we come back after Christmas we find the boys crying and PRAYING and asking GOD for help! Sadly you have made GOD an absentee FATHER. Please alter that perception.Give my boys something they NEED give them FAITH give them a MIRACLE born out of LOVE not DEMONIC DEALINGS! C'mon............set it all right and align the wheels back on the track of this great show. Dean was righteously angry and his entire performance was and attitude was electric. Sammy the subdued was equally superb. He sat there fighting back tears and keeping his emotions and wall intact...........talk about stress. At one point when he brought his hands together I thought maybe he was going to pray.........but he was bracing his wall! Bobby and Rufus what can I say you were both fabulous as well..............Bobby your life was horrible...your speech to your father was blazing ....when you told him that you raised two boys and they were the best men and heroes...............ahhhh....if they must kill you Bobby....Carry on My Wayward Son there will be peace when you are done lay your weary head to rest................don't you cry no more.................................
As for LEVIATHAN DICK............YOU ARE SO SCREWED.............BECAUSE MY BOYS HAVE HAD ENOUGH....................AND THAT WAS THE FINAL FREAKING STRAW!

    ReplyDelete
  130. I think if Bobby is dead, and sorry to say I am leaning that direction, then that will be all the motivation the guys need to take out the Leviathans.  This is going to be a LOOOONG wait till Jan.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Right here with you on the sobbing.  I have an African Gray Parrot that was crying with me last night, so between my sobs and laughing at the bird, my house was a zoo.  AWESOME ep start to finish..Thanks you Sera and crew.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Perfect comment, I also thought Sam was going to pray, but instead worked that wall.  As a whole this was the best ep of SPN in 6+ years.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I didn't feel the old feeling at all. I felt like they had Dean snarling and snapping at Sam for everything and Sam just sort of shrank back into the shadows. Not saying I didn't love the episode cause I did. I just didn't like the way the brothers acted with each other.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I had the same thought about Dean. Midian. Dean definitely isn't very stable. Which if you think about  it is kind of funny. Sam's got Lucifer in his head and he's coping better than Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I thought the reaper was perfect. I mean he's a reaper, he's supposed to be sort of 'dead'. That's why I always thought Tess was kind of strange in the role. And I still think Bobby will tell him NO and be revived. I think they may have him miss some shows recovering but I won't believe he is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I was devastated and loved every second of it! It was a great episode!

    ReplyDelete
  137. After last nights ep I had to go back and change my choices in Nominate Your Favorite Shows, had to put Death's Door as best ep and Sera for writing it.  In all the eps of SPN that I have watched to many times to count, this one will be at the top of my favorite list, followed closely by Swan Song and The Man Who Would Be King.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I thought I was going to cry a few times throughout last night's episode. That is why I will not watch "Abandon All Hope" again anytime soon, because the 2 times that I have watched it I  have cried. Bobby cannot leave the boys! Please, Bobby, say yes to staying and don't leave the boys or us, your devoted fans!
Did anyone catch what Bobby said last night about Sam and Dean that he adopted them? Do you think he was lying to the Reaper (if that is possible) or do  you think that the boys don't even know this secret of Bobby's?!
It will be a long 5 weeks, but I agree, it is a lot shorter than in years past. We will get through it and it looks like we have an awesome second half of the season waiting for us when it finally does get here!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Huh.. poor Dean. Again, right? Because it's not like Sam wasn't just as upset and hurting... Bobby's his "dad" too you know.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Great episode. I don't think Bobby's going to stay dead for long. What was up with Rufus having an earring? He didn't have it in any of the previous episodes, not even when we first met him. Yeah, I know picking thing to notice in such a heavy heart episode but anyone have theories? The writers are doing a fine job keeping me hooked this year...this season is the best for me so far.

    ReplyDelete
  141. come on how could you end the show like that?!

    ReplyDelete
  142. This has been one of the best episodes I have seen in a long time! They need to write more things like that! Now if they could bring back Misha I will be very happy!

    ReplyDelete
  143. That was such a good episode and OMG HOW COULD THEY LEAVE US LIKE THAT FOR 5 WEEKS? It was bad enough waiting 2 weeks to see what was gonna happen in this episode, but waiting even longer to see if Bobby goes with the reaper may kill me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  144. I was too tired to leave my review for this episode last night, so here it goes. It was an excellently done episode. Honestly, I have to give Sera kudos for what she did here. The writing was excellently done, the directing by Robert Singer fantastic, the acting by all was beautifully done as well. It was very moving, very emotional. I haven't cried in Supernatural since Swan Song and last night's episode really got me. I mean I flat out bawled. I loved getting to see into Bobby's past and all his memories. I loved seeing Rufus back. I loved watching the boys so frightenend and upset in the hospital. I loved that something like this happening pulled Dean out of this apathetic funk of his and got him back into his badass hunter mode. I loved how he threatened Dick. I love that he nearly punched the insurance guy, but instead his fist went straight for the glass. I loved watching Sam struggle with his own emotions as well as press on his hand a few times. That was a clear sign to me that all is definitely NOT okay in Samland. I have a feeling something like this could be exactly what drives Sam over the edge into a full breakdown.

I love that when Dean came back inside and saw Sam and saw he was upset, he softened and went straight for his little brother. That full-on big brother mode kicked in, because yes Dean... Sam is upset too... Bobby is Sam's father too... and Bobby, oh Bobby... I can't even describe in words how I feel about this man. He had some beautiful lines in last night's episode. "They're MY boys" and "As fate would have it, I adopted two boys and they grew up great! They grew up heroes!" and of course "Idjits" right before he dies... Oh, Sam... Oh, Dean... Oh, Bobby... Now the question remains did the Reaper give Bobby the choice to stay on as a spirit or to go with him or Bobby the choice to go back and live braindead or go with him? I mean as heartbreaking as it is, Bobby's goodbye to his boys was perfect. Long enough to wake up, write the number on Sam's hand, call them "Idjits" and smile fondly at them before flatlining... *cries again* Sam and the doctor both stated that Bobby's brain tissue is dying, so if Bobby were to survive he'd be brain dead from my understanding... and that alone terrifies me. I have to say though, I am really worried about Sam at this point. He didn't look so good when pressing on his hand... As an added afterthought, I love that Sam hasn't lost his physical affection when it comes to people he loves. I love how he held Bobby's hand and squeezed it with both of his hands, and how he grasped Bobby's hand again when Bobby woke up. Oh, Sammy... ♥♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  145. It was pure Supernatural goodness. I love it when the show can yank your heart out and stomp on it.

    ReplyDelete
  146. This was a beautiful episode but heartbreaking. RIP Bobby Singer.

    ReplyDelete
  147. All I can say is I'm absolutely devastated. I loved the episode because I thought it was amazingly well done, even though it's sad that the last thing we got to see of Bobby was so many not so nice memories. Plus the last scene. It was just beautiful.
And I cried like a little girl. I'm curious to see how they go on with this. But Bobby dying like this definitely is a major change to the show to me. As was Cas ... dying. Disappearing. However you might wanna call it.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Well said, when Sam folded his hands and I thought he was going to pray, but instead he was working his hand, I leaked a little.  Sam trying to be so brave, because he knew if he broke down Dean would really go off the rails.  Excellent comment and ep. I can not even think about the ep yet without crying.  Have not gone back to watch again, I will, just going to take me some time.

    ReplyDelete
  149. it was a very powerful & deep episode describe how painful and deep is bobbys pain in the same way his love for the boys i almost cry and the final words he spokes (idgiets) i am not sure is the correct way to write it perfect, every time they fight o ask for somethg crazy bobby said those words a father reminder dont worry everything will be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  150. 17 people vote awfull they are blind definetely no a honest followers supernatural show (really) a big (bu) for all of them.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I cry all of the time, but my "sobbing" episodes are the same as yours if we add Jo and Ellen dying. I just couldn't take Ellen's reaction... I have 3 kids and I couldn't survive one of my "kids" dying (even though the baby is nearly 23). They will always be my babies and no mother should watch their child die!

    ReplyDelete
  152. That's true. They said the bullet is destroying his memories, and I know for a fact that the memory center in the brain doesn't necessarily mean death. I know this because my sister had a brain tumor that affected the memory center and they went in and removed it and 'abraded' the surrounding tissue. She doesn't remember yesterday, but most of her long term memories are completely in tact and health wise she's absolutely fine. She's just a little wacky now. :) So, I may be simply holding on to false hope, but I'm not going to believe Bobby is dead until they come out and tell us he is. When John died, they pronounced him dead, when Jo and Ellen died, they memorialized them with the burning photo, when Rufus died, they buried him... they didn't do any of that for Bobby, so I'm going to believe they haven't killed him off quite yet.

    ReplyDelete
  153. 5 weeks to go ;/ and I don`t want Bobby to be dead ;°(

    ReplyDelete
  154. If he played or not with the words, he did say he'll give it back and never intended to do it, he either lied or changed the contract, both things we've been said demons cannot do while doing a deal.

anyway, there's always chances that Bobby will say No to the reaper, that his body will stay in the coma for some time while the boys try to find some supernatural way to save him during the second half of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  155. he wasn't declare dead yet by the docs, he can stay in a coma for a while and Bobby can say no. Maybe the boys will find a way somewhere in the season to heal him

    ReplyDelete
  156. Right, the Jo/Ellen ep was a crying one.  I think one of the things that got to me last night was, I went thru that hospital wait for my oldest son and he did not make it, so the show reactions were spot on.  In terror, but having to be brave for other loved ones, Jared played that perfectly.  I have not been able to watch it again yet.

    ReplyDelete
  157. From your typing to Sera's inbox. lol  I hope he makes it also, but not holding my breath.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Oh me too, Debbie. I think I've had at least a "sobbing" episode in every single season except for S6. S1 would've been the finale, the car crash. Oh what a mess I was... S2 would've been IMTOD, Heart, AHBL1&2, S3 would've been Mystery Spot & NRFTW, S4 would've been WTLB, S5 Abandon All Hope & Swan Song (I was a WRECK), S6 I teared up in a few episodes, but nothing major and now S7 Death's Door which is pretty much on par with Swan Song. And I couldn't agree more with you about a mother and her child... I'd die myself inside if I ever had to watch my child die. He's my whole world.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Thanks, rehabber. I'm not so sure I can go back and rewatch it just yet. I need to because I need to pick up on things that I miss as I always tend to miss some things through the first time watching, but I know I'm just going to cry all over again. I need to do it though, but yeah. I leaked a little there too. Hubby started rubbing my back for me during it lol. He himself even said that last night's ep was rough on him. I mean when Bobby flatlined, he yelled out "NO!" He's invested almost as much as me, he just doesn't want to admit it! LOL But yeah, Sam... he's really starting to worry me with how he constantly is insisting he's fine and people have it worse than him, yet he looks about ready to lose it a few times in that hospital, and starts the pressing on his hand... Oh, Sammy... we know you're not okay. Stop lying to yourself. Anyway, thank you and yes, it was a beautifully executed episode. Beautifully heartbreaking and tragic, but felt complete and not empty or forced.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I learned to ignore those^^; must of the ''awful'' votes are from people who doesn't listen the show and are just hater who put awful week after week, without seeing the episode

    ReplyDelete
  161. Wow. Just wow. I still have tears trickling down my face, Jim Beaver is beyond amazing! This requires more watching before I can give a more coherent analysis, but for now, I'm going to stick with wow! I don't think I've cried this much at Supernatural since Dean gave his speech over Sam's body in AHBL2. Oh, I actually do have one more thing to say: how the hell am I going to survive the next five weeks???

    ReplyDelete
  162. It looked to me that Rufus did a few hits of speed before the episode!!!

    ReplyDelete
  163. This is my favourite episode in the series. It was fantastic in its plot, acting an execution. And now I'm heartbroken since Bobby is my favourite character. But I hope that the writers won't do another resurrection or something like that. Death has become meaningless on the show. Sam and Dean always scrape through deathly situations by ''deus ex machina''(e.g. cas, deals with deamons, Death himself) and I don't want the outcome of this wonderful episode to be that Bobby lives even though he was shot to the head, or he's in a coma. I want something with consequences to occur, whether it's that Bobby dies, becomes a ghost or something else original thing that the writers will think. If this doesn't happen how are the viewers supposed to ever worry about the safety of the characters of the show? I know that many people are upset and sad about Bobby's condition(I am too) but I wanted to express this opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  164. nop... this season is based in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, is supossed to be Sam and Dean againt the world. Bobby is death.

    ReplyDelete
  165. yeah definitely in my top ten or top five!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Wanna bet? I am sure that he'll stay in a coma and the boys will find a away to heal him later. The writes aren't daring enough to kill him. I hope I'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I still say Sam's not nearly as stable as he'd like us to think.  There is more to come for him down the road...almost has to be.   That said, yeah, I was having the same thought about Dean last night...losing Bobby is going to push him over the edge!

    ReplyDelete
  168. Agreed...I'm not believing he's gone until they say so definitely.  Bobby Singer does NOT give up that easily!

  169. I'm betting with you :) 'til they burn him or something, he's not dead yet. it's not Grey's, its Supernatural, something can still happen

    ReplyDelete
  170. Exactly.  What is the point of having a cliffhanger unless there is more to the story?  If they were going to kill him off they could've just done it in that episode with no questions rather than leave the subject muddy.  I'm convinced there is more to it.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Cas would've said so if it were him...he was coming clean about everything else, why lie about that?   Bringing back Samuel was Crowley's idea, no reason to believe Crowley didn't do it.

And let's not forget one other entity...God.  He's brought back Cas twice, no reason He couldn't decide to intercede for Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  172. The motivation comes in if the boys decide they're not going to bother with Dick unless Crowley saves Bobby.  But I actually don't see that coming since they'll be dead set on revenge no matter what...it's the Winchester way.  But they have  no love for Crowley...they could always threaten to serve him up on a silver platter to Dick unless he helps them.  There's plenty of leverage to be had.

  173. Which part of "what it was doing to THE GUYS", "I'm just not sure THEY could simply bounce back fromm this one" and "how the hell much can THE BOYS possibly lose"  didn't you get?   Don't worry, nobody's discounting Sam's suffering in this.  It's going to hit them BOTH hard.

  174. OK.... This episode was awesome! I have thoroughly enjoyed this season so far.
Things I liked about this episode:
I didn't expect Bobby to die (or almost die).

Loved Rufus  calling Bobby Paco. (Ha, Ha)

Sam and Dean's angst was almost tangible.

Loved Dean calling out Dick Roman.

What awful secrets Bobby has been living with.

Way to go Bobby, "As fate would have it, I adopted 2 boys and they turned out great. They're heros!"  :)

The acting and writing were delivered flawlessly. What a way to end the mid season finale.

  175. Well, considering I wasn't "RESPONDING TO YOU" is probably why I didn't see THE GUYS and THEY and THE BOYS and BOTH. I saw:

"DEAN was so emotional that HE was losing right and left.  I was not
surprised HE went after Dick.  Sam was trying to be logical.  Poor Sam.
He was trying to be strong for DEAN and himself.  DEAN couldn't.  This
would be one loss too many."

What part of that didn't YOU get?

  176. Your comment is deeply impressive. Thanks for sharing your trying and truly hard experience, it makes it all feel real. Unfortunately things like this do happen in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Oh I got it just fine.  I read the whole response and saw that it was addressing both guys equally.  Just because the name Dean happened to pop up more than twice doesn't mean Sam was being ignored.

    ReplyDelete
  178. It really was...II loved that twist and the face that instead of just the boys trying to make a deal to save Bobby it was Bobby on the greatest hunt of his life, trying to save himself.  That's why I refuse to believe he's gone...no way he went through all of that just to fail.

    ReplyDelete
  179. It can be Sam and Dean against the world without Bobby being dead.  I'm holding out hope that he'll be recovering (maybe with Sheriff Mills at his side!) while the boys do the hunting.  It's SPN...anything's possible! :D

    ReplyDelete
  180. Let's not forget...Bobby killed his father to save his mother and he only killed his wife because she was possessed and he didn't know how to exorcise her at the time.  It's not like he's some kind of murderous fiend.

    ReplyDelete
  181. EXCELLENT comment...couldn't agree more.  I too had the thought that maybe it's FINALLY time for God to step in and intercede.   The boys have been through enough, all of it for the common good...don't they deserve a litte reprieve in return?   As I asked in a previous comment...how much more can they possibly lose?  It's just not fair!   I'm holding out hope that Sera and the writers will do right by them.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Um, I don't think he was talking the legal sense when he said he adopted them.  I think he meant as in he thought of them as his own, just like they think of him as a surrogate father.  I don't think there's any "secret" to learned.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I'm very happy they killed him, it was gutsy and interesting and I love that they literally have nobody else to lose now, it makes it a heck of a lot more frightening and a heck of a lot more real. Bye Jim, if that was your last you went out with pride. Bring on the next half of the dramatic season and don't go back on this writers stick to your guns it's what makes us fans. The bravery of writers to kill people that are popular, they are not sheep just going along with what fans want all the time and i admire that most of all.

    ReplyDelete
  184. I have to add....if they do kill Bobby off (my personal wish that they don't) I sincerely hope they do NOT bring the character back except in a flashback.  The Crowley or Angel or whatever resurrection save...would IMHO cheapen this send off episode.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Bobby's gone, I've accepted it. That episode was just too good a send off for him then to just be miraculously healed sometime in the second half of the season.

  186. Well, I loved the ep and I'm not sure, but it seems to me that Bobby would stay as a ghost to try and help his boys against the Leviathans...

But listen, what I need to say here is: Dean is whining about licorice instead of pie? When have we heard of Dean's liking of licorice? I'm sorry about my fringeness, but this surely sounds as a Fringe shout out to me (I have being studying the likeness of Dean Winchester to Walter Bishop, it's amazing how many features they have in common).

For those not in the know, "Licorice" is like an 'identity' word for Fringe (the effect is like if a SPN fan would see Peter or Olivia driving a Chevy Impala). and then a kid killing a parent figure, and then a close friend or family member going out of existence? It cannot be coincidence, right? It seems to me we will be seeing Bobby trying to get the attention of his boys from another plane of existence. Well, I guess they won't make such a clear a rip-off, but I'm excited anyway about the cross references between my two favorite shows.

  187. I haven't seen the promo yet nor have I read the comments here, but my gut reaction to this episode is anger.  Intense anger that the writers for the sake of a midseason cliffhanger (and a short midseason at that) are going to make us go through yet another round of despair and fallout from their father figure's death.  We just rounded a bit of a corner.  I understand that there needs to be character growth that comes through dealing with trials, but isn't there enough trial already.  I understand that character death is Supernatural's version of the love triangle, a plot device that once overused becomes annoying more than provoking.  I understand that the writers love yanking of fan's heartstrings.  But there comes a time when enough is enough!  You cannot have a show where the prime point seems to be how miserable can you make your main character and by extension your fans.  You cannot expect people to welcome an hourly dose of nothing but pain and despair on a weekly basis.  I'm not saying that everything needs to be rosy on Supernatural.  That's not realistic.  But making it so that the second fans see the tiniest glimmer of the sun (or for that matter a smile), everything goes to hell in a handbasket is not realistic either.  Not even in the confines of the hunting world. I'm not asking for joy or even happiness.  I am asking for the story line to lighten up every so often so we can catch our breath.  I've been a fan of Supernatural since the night it first aired.  I've watched the brothers go through more than any human could ever take and I've stayed with them through betrayals and separations.  I've plummeted to levels of anguish with them I didn't know I could go with fictional characters.  But there is only so much of this I can take.  We had a chance to watch the brothers smile, joke around, forget about the oppression of their savior roles, but before we could soak it up, the writers lock us back up in a cage built of dashed hopes and the unending foreboding sense that nothing will ever get better for these brothers.  That Supernatural will forever be a place of desolation without a break.  No one can stand with this crushing weight and at some point they are going to push fans too far.  For me, this is the first time I welcome hellatus.  I wish it were longer than it is going to be for the simple fact that the fallout is going to be brutal and I'm not sure I can stand that wave of pain grounding me into the bottomless sea again.  It's finally becoming too much.

  189. I'm new to this site and haven't commented before, but I loved this episode SO MUCH I felt I had to do so.  Please be nice :).

Agree with other posters-- I thought this was one of the best "goodbye" eps ever.  Much better than Cas walking into the water (I am both a Cas and Bobby fan).  One of the reasons I think Cas isn't dead is that he needed a better send-off than that.  I still liked that episode overall, though.  Sam and Lucifer?  Scary. . . and creepy. . .

This was a beautiful episode.  Incredibly sad-- I don't want Bobby to die!  But talk about a hero's death-- damn!  He was dying and all he could think about was that he needed to get a message to the boys-- his boys-- and wasn't that just the best line ever about "adopting" them?  Bobby is awesome and Jim Beaver was amazing!  I'm glad I refrained from bothering him about Misha's scavenger hunt on Twitter (if you don't know what this is, you should keep it that way-- it means you are normal and healthy).

One of the things I loved was Bobby and little Dean.  It's nice to know what I've always suspected-- "Uncle Bobby" acted like a second parent to the boys and in many ways was a lot more understanding than John (I'm a John fan, so don't yell at me for disparaging his character or anything).

I haven't seen many comments about Sam squeezing the cut on his hand-- I though this was a great touch by the writers.  They've carried this thread throughout the season and Sam is clearly continuing to see Lucifer.  I was really glad they didn't just let this drop.

  190. I just seriously want to give you a big hug! (((((big hugs)))))

  191. nah... Dick doesn't care about Crowley. It's not in his plans to kill him. Is like an ant.

    ReplyDelete
  192. If Bobby comes back then they ruined a perfect goodbye and ruined this season.

    ReplyDelete
  193. If he comes back then this episode would have no point at all.

    ReplyDelete
  194. lol.... Bobby and Cas are deal with it. They were alive for too long, the come back from the dead many times. It was a perfect send off. Now is going to be Sam and againt the World, this second part is going to be great.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Sam has been touching his hand in almost all episodes. I think this times wasn't for lucifer, he was trying to see it all this was just a nightmare.
