    ok so this was my first time watching this show and its good. Side note i want Taraji and the dude that protects ppl to get together.

    I love the episode, show us more of detective Carter lives. Reese better than ever, the final is great. Elias is a bastard, but Reese give him a message.

    Awesome episode and I love that we got some long overdue background on Carter. Taraji's Carter reminds me a lot of Regina King's character on Southland both very caring, idealistic women well played by fantastic actresses. I hope that they do more eps that gives us more Carter, that's a very good thing.

    It was a good episode.  The characters are coming together nicely and the larger story arc is taking form.  But I can't help think we've seen it all before..... you know when Batman err Reese threatened the corrupt police captain and threatened to take everyone down all the way to the top in order to protect Gordon err Carter.

    I loved the "lead poisoning " remark by Detective Fusco! XD

    So Carter was an interrogator? Interesting!

    I forget... did Finch tell Reese that his first name was Harold or was that something Reese was able to figure out and taunt him with?

    It was nice to have this week's "number" be Carter. I think that the back story and protective detail really helped pull together the series and flesh out not only Detective Carter but Fusco as well.

    WOW! one hell of an episode .. I loved it utterly and completely .. What's more to ask for than watching my two favorite characters being total BADASS .. Of course, the personal attachment made it so touching as well.. loved the bits of Carter's past in Iraq .. especially how she said "You can't play God or somebody is gonna get hurt" and how she also said it to Reese.. Surely these two men are completely different but there's gonna be mistakes along the way.. And it's really great to see Carter slowly trusting Reese.. that end was just PERFECT..

    I enjoyed getting to know Carter.  Teenaged son?  Very unexpected.  I felt like the flashbacks didn't add much to the ep overall.  We found out so much about what kind of person she is in how she handled  all that she was juggling that I didn't need to see how she handled the military situation and her angry reaction to the other soldier felt forced.  Other than that great ep.

    Very good episode, one of my favorite so far!

    Liked a lot that scene where Reese explodes the gate/door and just enters the place walking, shooting the arm dealers; it reminded me of the "same" scene with the group of punks that messed with Reese in the subway (episode one) and later he goes and pops one shot in everyone's knee :))

    The more "human" Carter becomes, the sexier she is (am I wrong?)

    And we still have the photo Finch accidentaly found in Carter's car... She is told be a single mother, but it looks like there's something else to that story.

    Elias is creepy (what a great actor: not one single word, just a look around and he said it all!).

    Regarding Harold being Finch's first name: I think it was back when Reese met Finch working in an office and by the second time he went there, a female worker told Reese that "Harold had been transfered" or something along those lines, and we see Finch leaving the building where a statue of his former partner stands at the lobby.

    If you compare Person of Interest to any other cop show around, I think you'l agree it is the most original and diverse of them all.

    That said, and taking it to the limit, everything created so far can be traced back to the Greeks, be it Odissey, the Iliad or all those theater plays they created. Every sentence, every character, every situation, clifhanger and even cop out have been already played elsewhere, somewere.

    That reaction scene at the military base was so bizarre! XD

    Taraji is such a great actress I totally felt her rage and pain, but that rage and pain just felt so wrong for the situation... like you said it felt forced. 

    I cannot recall a scene where I both felt the emotion and didn't believe the scene like that.... odd.

    I find it rather similar to Burn Notice, but with a lot less humor.  Batman is a pretty good comparison.

    I liked Burn Notice a lot when it started, but it has been going down hill the last couple seasons.  I don't like POI as much as the 1st season of BN, but I do like it more than the current season.But yeah, every modern character is just a variation on one of the several thousand year old Greek characters.  Technology changes, but people don't.

    For me the problem was in the incongruity of her passion against their complete lack of passion.  If they didn't care, why bother killing him?  There needed to be a bit more visible hate/aggression in the soldiers.  It felt like she was over-acting the scene, because they under-acted it.

    the flashbacks I felt were or less about 'the machine' and we already knew she had served time in Afghanistan so it was the logical choice to showcase it

    I see your point, but, the content of the scenes wasn't new information about Carter's character.  I think that's where the biggest miss was for me.  I think her reaction to "the machine" would have worked better for me if that hadn't played it as though she were surprised by how everything went down.  Carter seemed much too smart not to be aware of the situation.  I think they were going for nieve innocence about the attitudes of the soldiers around her but, nieve and unaware aren't the same thing and she seems way to smart a woman to have been unaware.  That's the main reason that her going off on those guys felt forced.  It felt out of character to me.
