MacCutcheon Whiskey and Alan Dale? Perfect combination
Loved how the Fairy Tale story lead right into Charming and Snow White meeting, that was great, I wonder what this means for the fairy tale world when they end up together? It's likely not gonna be too good for the two kingdoms.
Very Intresting back story for Prince Charmning. This leads Into the first meeting between him and Snow white. It will be Intresting to what lead him after his meeting with Snow white to when he goes and revives her.Rumpy's deal with King Is hinted to tie Into to the Cinderalla episode since he was looking for a wand.
Back In Storybrooke James made wrong choice and Regina got her way.But It's too soon for him and Mary Margaret to get together.I liked Emma finding out Graham Is Regina's boytoy. The more motherlike she acts towards Henry the better. When you think about With The Evil Queen being Snow White's stepmother Regina actully adopted her stepgreat Grandson. And again you have to wonder what Mr. Gold knows and what his agenda Is.
I agree he may know everything. He may even know Emma Is Snow White's daughter. As for his agenda It's to sut himself without a doudt. He's only Is on Regina's side when It suits his purpose, and I wonder If It was him who caused David to get his fake memories. I also look forward to knowing the Evil Queen, and Rumpy's history In Fairy Tale world.
I almost destroyed my laptop watching this episode I kept screaming 'no no no no no no no it's NOT fair!!!' I knew there was no way Mary Margaret/David were getting (back?) together this early in the show, but still it so infuriating. Also, Josh Dallas is really REALLY hot.
Rumple is delightfully cunning. I love his character more than all the others, really. Annnnnnd ALAN DALE! Oh, and the McCutcheon whiskey! Actually I'm not even done watching epi yet so I'm not reading the comments yet.
Kitsis and Horowitz have again written a very Lostian episode, with Alan Dale (and I didn't catch the MacCutcheon whiskey), and the idea that you have to remember your past life. That would make Henry kind of a Desmond, trying to wake everyone up. And Rumpy is Jacob.
LOVED this backstory. Brilliant. It took 6 episodes but I'm really starting to see the genius behind this show. Apparently they are only scratching the surface this season. I doubted Charming and Snow white would connect (and their counterparts) this episode, but it's good to see that they know just how to play this. One of this show's major themes is manipulation and it's unfolding beautifully!
The exact same thing crossed my mind as well. It's like a spinoff sort of idea from the end of Lost. Except they're beginning with the idea of remembering your past life instead of ending with it.
So many easter eggs in Mr. Gold's pawn shop!!, i saw a fairy, the bottle from the genie, the china from the beauty and the beast!!! okay im going crazy, but i think i saw too the boat from the little mermaid!!
I want to say that the show could not get better, but I know it will! Just imagine what it will be three seasons from now.. Another amazing episode, considering the small role the main character (Emma) played. I also didn't mind the lack of Henry.. Mr. Rump was deliciously weird as usual.
Loved it! Enjoyed seeing Alan Dale and the "Lost easter egg" of the MacCutcheon whiskey like the Apollo candy bar from last ep.... Loved the continuity of the writing as we got more depth of the Prince Charming character and he events of how Rumplestiltskin was able to get the fairy godmother's wand and the inevitable meeting of Charming and Snow.... just really good stuff
Despite the fact that I knew Mary and James weren't going to end up together I was bummed by their last scene together. When the first Prince fell (was his name James? I have to rewatch and listen for it) was killed by the giant dude all I could think was "you should have taken your own advice and made sure he was dead." consequently, his death wasn't all that tragic. I actually liked the twin thing. Do you think Rumple knew the first one was going to die...oh, yeah. We've seen that he knows the future haven't we. Anyway, I liked that plot a lot.
I liked the *way* James got his Storybroke memories implanted.
So, now I'm sure Rumple remembers....still not willing to put money on Regina knowing.
I don't usually critique the FX in TV shows (well, except for Terra Nova because they make a big deal about it) anyway, I got popped out of the ep a couple of times because the green screen, for the first time in this show's run, kept slipping.Dr. Whale.....can someone help me here? I keep thinking that name is a clue but i can't figure what it could be. The promo has me convinced that he Sheriff is the Huntsman...which I've thought since the second or third ep...and felt stronger about when we learned he was sleeping with the mayor.
It was a great episode which shows James/ David choosing the same thing. Abby/ Kathryn because of duty. I loved Emma catching the sheriff coming out of Regina's window! Too Funny!
Weakest episode yet. It was kinda boring. I just don't like charming and the story as a whole was lame. Am I the only one who prefers the real-life scenes over the fantasy-sequences?
I absolutely LOVED learning more about Charming's back story - it completely threw me.. I wasn't expecting another Cinderella-type beginning, but it made him so much more interesting! and I loved that even then, in another life, he was fighting for love - he didn't want to compromise himself and marry someone he didn't love, and I hated that he was forced into it when his mother and their farm was threatened
I also love that Mary Margaret and Emma are bonding - this is one of those great "dramatic irony" moments where WE know the truth about them, even though they don't really have a clue.. and I love watching their interactions on a more level playing field
I HATE that Mary Margaret got her heart broken, though I think we all knew the writers wouldn't make us happy this soon, and I think it'll be interesting to see how the story progresses.. but hey.. if it means David Anders can stick around a little longer, I think I'm okay with it! (for now)
Alan Dale (again--he was just on Person of Interest!) and David Anders (again, as he continues his role as Dr. Whale!)
I like this episode too! nice tie backs to 'the hero complex' and the Shepphard! (Jack and Christian are all over this!) It was unexpected that Charming would have a twin and that he falls into "a man in the iron mask" kind of situation!
Dr. Whale is interesting too, since strangely he has not been seen in the fantasy world, but clearly he seems to be a character to 'get other characters through their trials'. ("Doctor" = healer) I keep wondering if he will ever have a fairy tale character. I talked a little about this with our site moderator Draque a little while ago. He thought of "Jonah and Whale" and I thought of the whale in "Pinocchio".
--But maybe he is like Emma (Swann and Whale = water animals?), maybe he barely existed in fairy tale land...a child of someone else perhaps????????????
This episode was really nice because of how it bridged stuff together...I think Henry himself is still a bit of a mystery since he clearly is named for 'the one thing Regina loved and now can't have', her father, but it will be interesting to see if he really is her father, or if he is a reincarnated manifestation of what he represented and is still in fact still Emma's son...He looks SO much like the modern day snow white, it's hard to imagine he doesn't share her genes...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Loved it as usual! alksdjfal;skdfjals;kdfjasldkfjasdklf at Kathryn and Regina and James (Not!James) and Mary.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!

Awwwwwwwwww man! really wanted Snow and Charming together again. And Rumpelstiltskin is just too much fun.

Josh Dallas, marry me
ReplyDeleteBest episode of this season. Amazing Mary/SnowWhite marry me. James don't want you, but I want.
ReplyDeleteI think that Mr Gold may know everything. And I may be wrong but I think his agenda is probably mayhem.

he definitly knows everything. its funny tho that only the villains know the truth and henry lol.
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone not love this show?
ReplyDeleteThis show is an easter egg hunters paradise - loves it.
ReplyDeleteOh I just don't know what it is. But this show is such a delight.

ReplyDeleteI'm under the impression Gold is fully aware of the truth. After all, he is the one who sold the curse in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's super adorable. I didn't really notice until this episode.
ReplyDeleteI like everything you said. We are in agreement on all points. :D

ReplyDeleteno wonder our prince has a love for the out doors and so badass. I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother awesome episode! No need to write anything, everyone is saying the same thing i would have said!
ReplyDeleteEven to you writing that!! :D
ReplyDeleteDarn, just not fast enough to make an original comment.
One of my computers crashed last night so my husband was using mine,by the time he got off i was in dreamland.Oh well, there's always next week. :)
ReplyDeleteWeakest episode yet. It was kinda boring. I just don't like charming and the story as a whole was lame. Am I the only one who prefers the real-life scenes over the fantasy-sequences?
ReplyDeletereally cool background story, but I was kind of disappointed that there was no real big progression in the present storyline
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVED learning more about Charming's back story - it completely threw me.. mayhem is the perfect word to describe it - I think he really just likes to shake things up and see how people deal
ReplyDeleteha! that was SUPER awkward

ReplyDeleteYou're definitely not.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about Alan Dale and MacCutcheon.
ReplyDeleteI like that idea but probably not. But he may become more important if they are truly getting rid of the sheriff.
ReplyDeleteAlan Dale and Robert Carlyle, sweet...OH just spotted the good ol MacCutcheon :D
ReplyDeleteMan, Charles Widmore again playing a slimebag. :(
Very little annoying kid, so this was by far the best episode. Hopefull hey can keep it up.
only just watched this ep but loved it, I'm liking this show more and more as time goes on
ReplyDeleteI had the same reaction!!
