  1. EPIC episode. Brilliant. Amazing.

Jane and Lisbon were just awesome. My shippy heart was melting every 2 seconds. Their connection, despite the lack of memory, was really nice to see. Lisbon always backed him up, no matter what. She was truly shaken when she learned Jane had taken the money in the end :(

About the end, how cool was it that Lisbon knew Jane's house to well as if it were her own?? AWESOME! :D

And Jane, "Teresa" instead of Lisbon, was really nice.

Jane hitting on Grace? No way for me. But Rigsby's 'Back off' was interesting.

The end was truly heartbreaking. Simon and Robin were really amazing. Poor Jane.

Amazing episode so far, looking forward to 4.11 and see what's in store with poor Jane and his wonderful team.

Now we must live through a month without The Mentalist!

  2. Excellent.  Great fun throughout, but that ending scene was positively heartbreaking.  And knowing something of that sort was inevitably coming gave a sort of pathos to the rest of the episode.  Really, really good stuff.

  3. It's not often a television episode hits you in the gut like the last scene of this one did.  The commercials set it up by suggesting his loss of memory might be a con, so I spent the first part of the episode trying to figure out if Jane was faking it or not, though it soon became clear that he had nothing to gain by continuing a charade.  I wish the commercials hadn't shown that he survived the drowning with no problem because I really didn't experience Lisbon's feelings when she thought Jane was dead since I knew he would soon pop back to life.  A minor detail, but one that would have created a little more suspense and made it a better scene.  There was a tug at the heart in the house with Cho when Jane acts likes he's remembering, but you're not quite sure if it might be a con.  And sure enough, it is.

From the commercials I was halfway expecting a silly episode with Jane faking his way through an elaborate con, but of course it was so much deeper than that.  Can't wait till it picks up in January, though I kind of like that there's a period of time to ponder this episode and let it sink in before starting again after the mid-season break.  Kudos to the entire cast, especially Simon and Robin, and to the writers and creators of this fascinating character who keeps you wanting more.

  4. ITA, such a great ep! And my shipper heart was melting too :D, in between dying with laughter. SO many great lines; "are we sleeping together?," "but it's headed that way," "there's room up here" (on hospital bed). xD So EPIC!

  5. "Are we sleeping together?
    "We are no sleeping together..."
"But we are working toward it, right?"

Priceless conversation! ♥ Like you said, so many great lines!! :)
These two made this episode even more fantastic than it already was.

  6. Poor Jane seriously......

And did you saw Lisbon face when that woman kissed Jane at the end??

And when she learned Jane had taken the money.......... :-(

My shipper heart was melting too

  7. It really was an exceptionally outstanding episode!  I couldn't tell if he was actually conning everyone for the first half of the show, and i ran a gamut of emotions watching him throughout this episode....Nicely done by all.

  8. I loved this episode. The last scene really got to me. I was half expecting for him to leave and not remember and that would be where they left it for mid-season finale. I love when Cho said, "Forgive me, but losing his family really did make him a better person." Lisbon replies,"No, he was that person deep down all along." I am not sure if I agree because he basically is/was just doing it for revenge, at least in the beginning. But I rather like that Lisbon believes in Jane so much. Did you see the ass grab in the bar with the fire fighter? I giggled like a school girl.

  9. Interesting to see that Jane feels kinda attracted to both Lisbon and Van Pelt. I actually laughed when he hit on Van Pelt and her "really?" when she was told that Jane wanted a date with her was very notable too XD.Just saying, in general it revealt a lot about Jane we don't see because of his tragedy.

  10. My expectations were higher cause of the trailer, but still this was a great episode. The only thing I miss is Red John. I wanna see more cases and episodes related to him. Not just 4 episodes per season or something like that.

  11. Not a bad episode. The attempted murder/drowning scene was intense though they could have done much more with the interaction between the team and retro-Jane. Also the ending felt rushed as though they realised - whoops! - we're out of time, that's a wrap.

  12. I love Red John cases too, and we'll be in for a treat, because RJ is back in the game starting 4.11 on January 12th. Writers and Creators has told us they will start building up the RJ storyline until the end of the season! So we're expected RJ to take over most of the second half of the season. :)

  13. I don't think that he truly had any specific interest in them- he just chased after every skirt that was close, at least that was my impression. And: his amnesia didn't only "kill" the murder from his mind, but also his family- he certainly wasn't quite like this as a loving husband and father. I think the love for his family possibly changed him at least as much as the tragedy did.

  14. I was just making a point because some people meant they saw Jane's romantic feelings for Lisbon surface and I didn't because he treated everyone the same.
And still part of "that Jane" is in "our Jane"  no matter how the murder changed him. That was what I wanted to say.

  15. That's right, I think the same- remarkable was not so much what feelings Jane showed for Lisbon (because he clearly wasn't himself and acted pretty much the same with every female he encountered), but how she treated him- the loyalty and friendship she showed for him was truly touching. And I still think: in some ways, it was more HER show than HIS this time. For her honesty and integrity were what stood out for me.
I think that he might have this womanizing charm about him when he was younger (he's still very charming and flirtatious when it suits him), but at the same time I believe that he truly loved his wife and was faithful to her.
I admit: I didn't see that much of Jane's capacity to love while he was suffering from the memory loss. Maybe in the way he dealt with the little girl who had lost her doll. But otherwise: he was a pretty selfish bastard the whole time.

  16. Yes, Lisbon showed how much she cares for Jane but that's not exactly breaking news. She showed it A LOT before, she's a loyal soul, so I am actually suprised that people are surprised but well whatever. I think she cares more for Jane than he does care for her - or at least that's what I got from watching 4 seasons of this show.

  17. At least he doesn't show it as clearly as she does- which pisses me off on a regular basis...:D And it's true, I wasn't exactly surprised...though it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling when she cried for him in the beginning....
