  1. FUCK YOU, HIMYM. I DID NOT APPRECIATE THE RUG THAT GOT PULLED OUT FROM UNDERNEATH ME TONIGHT.

AND THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BARNEY AT THE END, SO FUCK YOU TOO, TED.

    FUCK EVERYTHING.

  2. LOL, I am irrationally angry. The rug got pulled out from underneath us with the kids. It was way too cruel and I am unhappy about that.

  3. I was torn between voting Awesome or Awful ! It was soooo good but sooo sad. And by the looks of it, it doesn't seem like Robin will be Barney's bride. Since Cobie said in an interview she was really surprised by her identity, it might mean it's not Robin. And she also said at the Emmys I think that she wanted to see Robin and Barney together so she wouldn't have been so surprised if it were the case. Or she was trying to be confusing. But now that we know that Barney really wants kids...uuhhh I don't know. Even though the episode was really well played, it was sort of a let down... :(

  4. I'm still convinced Barney/Robin are endgame. They can remain childfree or adopt.

  5. Now I know Robin is not the Bride. THANK GOD!

  6. Um, no, no you don't. This didn't eliminate her as the Bride at all.

  7. I really hope you're right!! I love them together!!

  8. Um... it was pretty obvious the kids weren't real. They said it earlier in the show, in like season 2 or something. The way the fake revelations came were too thrown away. Ted and Robin were just friends at the end there. Robin won't be the bride, but I think she'll still end up with Barney.

  9. Yes, the kids aren't real, but that doesn't mean that Barney and Robin don't get married. And it's been said in previous interviews that Barney will get married, and it's obviously to Robin.

  10. As much as I hated to have all my hope taken from me in the end of the episode,I'll have to admit it was VERY unexpected, well acted and it was filled up with character development.I'm glad that they at least broke my heart brilliantly.

  11. Great. Worked for me. I teared up a little at the end actually. I really felt for Robin. And I love that she gives Barney character growth.

  12. I don't feel quite like you do, lol. But I agree about the end. It felt awkward having it be Ted. I thought it would be better if it were the whole gang. Or just Barney works too. But I thought it would be all of them since Marshall was the one who set out to create the Christmas light show. idk.

  13. Great episode but so gutted by the ending

  14. I really liked this ep.  Evil trick to avoid answering the Barney wedding question in the middle of the season but, I liked the way Robin's story was told and really appreciated the fact that Robin's character didn't morph into someone new and tell all to her friends.  Loved it when Ted showed he's a real friend and didn't force her to tel him specifics he was just there for her.   What I could have done without was snotty kid locking Marshall on the roof.

  15. I was really expecting all four of them to appear and I think that would have felt more right for the show, but  I read the interview with one of the show runners so it didn't bother me per se, but the whole gang in that final scene would have been much better.

  16. I totally get the irrational anger.  It hit me with the final ep of Medium.  Heck.  I'm still angry about that one.

  17. Ok, so since Barney is getting married it surely must be Robin?!? Just like since they were casting a blond kid, it surely must be Barney's? See a pattern there? Why is it so important that it is Robin. Ted and Robin were always way better for each other than Barney and Robin (as evidenced by last scenes in the episode - the one made a grand gesture, the other made bad jokes), and it still didn't work.

  18. Don't know whether to vote awesome or awful! Awesful maybe :p
Like another person said, it was so cruel on Barney/Robin fans to make it seem like they end up together and have 2 kids and then pull the rug from under us - not cool!
I really felt so sad for Robin, it was a depressing episode. I'm not as excited for future episodes anymore :(
But even as depressing as it was, it was pretty well written and Cobie Smulders was amazing! I'm glad she is getting so much focus this season.

  19. I agree - It was so mean to pull the rug from under us Barney/Robin shippers :(

  20. I didn´t see this one coming. Imaginary kids, and I was so excited thinking that they were saying that Robin and Barney were finally together. I don´t know what to think about this episode.

  21. I was pretty sure from the beginning that the kids weren't real, mainly because she said right from the start that Barney is the father and I just didn't buy that.

  22. There are quite a lot of poor/awful votes which is rather unusual for a show that popular (fans usually tend to vote better than it actually was imo) and hardly any of those people explained why.
I voted poor and one of the main reasons for me was that it wasn't funny at all. I simply didn't laugh once and for a sitcom this is a simple sign for failure. Sure, character episodes that are rather made to make you think or touch you and don't make you laugh also are part of good sitcoms, but especially the last 3 episodes were quite poor to be honest. All they really delt with was the Barney/Robin story and it's getting more and more clear that the bride in Barney's wedding isn't Robin, it would be way too obvious.
An episode like this every now and then is okay for me, but for my taste they are using way too much time on this story which is annoying for people who aren't shippers and don't care a lot about this stuff. Can't wait for them to move on from this story line...

  23. I loved the episode, the writing and acting was brilliant. The episode made me laugh (at the Marshall stuff) and cry. I really did feel sorry for Robin, at first I thought the kids were real, but near the end - I thought they maybe imaginary. I still have hope that Barney will get married to Robin, they made for each other (they work better than Ted and Robin IMO)

  24. They've been building up Barney/Robin again since the end of last season. Why go through all we did this season so far (like Barney realizing she's his soul mate) only to find out they don't get married? I'm not buying it.

  25. The episode was awesome. It ripped out my heart, trampled on it and threw it in the trash afterwards, but it still was a really good episode. Also: I don't think Robin will be the bride, but TPTB said somewhere that the marriage might not have a happy ending, so I still have hope that in the end Barney and Robin WILL end up together.

  26. WOW.  I had a lot of theories behind this baby, but this episode blew my mind.. props to the writers for taking me completely by surprise, though I'm sad that it happened like it did.. I'm trying to trust them, though - they warned us that a lot of fans probably wouldn't like this, but to trust that they're taking it in a good direction..

  27. The basic presentation--Robin's pregnant/Robin's not pregnant/Robin can't get pregnant--was no surprise. Neither was the bit about her feeling miserable about it. Nor was Ted at the end comforting her. The only part that surprised me at all was the phantom kids. Kinda eerie.

  28. Yeah, that was extremely cruel, too! I was actually crying.

  29. Loved the episode. We knew she wouldn't have kids, but I didn't think they'd go here.

It was strange that Ted was the one and Barney wasn't involved at all. I guess it'll be awhile before Barney and Robin are back together.

  30. That was Awful. That was Cruel. And Ted at the end... It wasn't HIS place, like Robin said. It should be Barney or the whole gang!

    ReplyDelete
  31. TED IS AWESOME! He's so sweet, he's Robin's friend (best friend even, and roommate) of course it's his place to cheer Robin up. Shippers of any

  32. Beautiful episode! Was really sad.. Didn't see the kids twist coming, but i agree with a lot of you that it should've been Barney at the end!

  33. I guess I'm in the minority, but I thought it was a really good episode..no, it wasn't funny, but one that gets you thinking..

  34. can't choose between awesome and awful..

  35. Heartbreaking episode! But it had the HIMYM soul!
I guess its fine if Robin never wanted to have kids, but its always nice to have the options open!
    Awwww Robin!!

  36. I can't believed that happened....that was incredibly sad :(

  37. Why does a "happy ending" always have to mean getting married and having kids?? That's so cliché and so not Barney & Robin. I was really sad for Robin to find out kids aren't even an option, but I think it would have been even more awful to watch two married couples with kids next season and take away all the fun that's the diversity of the gang. So I really respect the writers for making this decision. They must have been aware how badly some fans would react.

As to Barney getting married and the possible "endgames", nothing is decided yet. We know Barney is going to meet someone new soon, and maybe that's who he ends up marrying... but he might just as well realize that being a husband is the worst possible lifestyle for him and end up leaving that person to go back to Robin. And they might live happily ever after in the type of relationship that actually suits them.

Let's just see what happens and enjoy the ride. This storyline is far from over. :)

  38. This episode absolutely killed me. I literally sat in front of the screen and stared for five minutes after it was finished. I thought the end was brilliantly orchestrated, and the fact that a sitcom like this can keep pulling at our heartstrings is completely genius.
As for Barney/Robin? I really hope they're endgame. As a few people said, she may not be the bride at the end of this season (and the bride will be revealed at the end of this season, according to the writers), but it's not like Ted hasn't gone to the altar before and ended up not getting married. However, I feel like the only other option is Nora, since they can't really introduce another girl and have it make sense. There are only 10 or so more episodes; getting Barney to really connect with another girl would take some serious time. I just really hope it's not Nora.I'm sure whatever the writers do, the identity of the bride will either be satisfying to the viewers, or she and Barney don't last. They've created such a dynamic character in Barney that they couldn't just give him a throw-away wedding and have him marry one of his conquests. So I'm putting my faith in the writers on this one.

  39. I loved it too, even if the story told was pretty sad, it succeeded in balancing it with really good humour. I thought it was hillarious, and the fact that it was Ted comforting Robin in the end seemed quite in line with the relationship between them to. In the end they've made it clear that Ted and Robin are great friends and that's what that scene reflected, IMO. It really clears the way for Barney to play a different role in Robin's life.

  40. LOL!Fuck you Ted for being an amazing friend?
    LOL,patehtic.
